I've been meaning to write this for awhile now...
I got a tat by Mandy about a year ago. She was amazing, super sweet and made me very comfortable (it doesn't hurt that she is beautiful as well!).
But most importantly, she does amazing work. I couldn't be happier with the lily tat on my side (see photos above). Great grey scale & line work. I was extremely impressed & pleased with the outcome. I lived in town at the time, but it was worth the (very short) drive. She can be a little hard to lock down, but worth it! I would highly recommend.
Stopped in here for my friends 30th Bday present to herself, since she was getting one, I've had the itch for another one for awhile  and decided to get one myself! Rory was awesome! We spent an hour going over everything I thought I wanted then we changed it and changed the colors and finally Rory sketch me exactly what I wanted! He was great and we felt comfortable the whole time! He also helped my friend with her design. We were satisfied. We really appreciated how clean and sterile everything was while doing our tattoos. Thanks Rory!!
Review Source:Wanted to get a tattoo in Hawaii and went searching for a good place. All of waikik were to expensive. I guess because of the tourist. This place hooked me up. Mike the artist is really an artist he free hand drew my tatto and it looks awesome. I would recommend this place to anyone and I will be back to get another one.
Review Source:What hurts more than a tattoo?
Removing one.
And so my advice to you is, make like a mad scientist, and research to find the right person to trust with a needle to your skin.
This review is for Mandy Garcia who has been at Banzai for nearly a year now.
Mandy is renowned for her attention to detail, feminine style, and passion for tattoos. Every one of her pieces is amazing and you can tell how much heart she puts into her work. Her prices are reasonable, considering the top notch quality of work you get. If you're going to have something on your body for a lifetime, your choice of artist is a lifetime investment!
Check out her instagram @mandyboto for pictures of her work.
After 3 days I was concerned about how much my piercing still hurt, and I also really needed a smaller ring because the current one was actually too big to fit in my nose flipped up.
I didn't feel comfortable going back to Banzai though, so I went to Ink Pit in Honolulu and spoke with Lisa. She was so disgusted by how poorly my piercing was done that she took it out and told me she would re-pierce it for free after my nose had healed. The ring was actually going through the cartilage! Which septums are definitely not supposed to. She couldn't believe that he charged me full price and let me leave his shop like that.
Do not go here for a piercing.
My tattoo shop. Complete with tattoo & piercing services available. Wallk ins welcomed however I'd suggest making an appointment so that you have time to go over what you want done.
Mike is my chosen artist and has done all the work I've had done at Banzai. He's easy to work with, pleasant and has the same dark humor I do. Now how could you go wrong with a fit like that? Â Some say he has a heavy hand. I think he's perfect.
Chad, Uncle Sonny & Rory are awesome too. Katch is there too, you must check out his artwork.
They've renovated and enlarged their studio, bigger space, well lit & clean.
The need for ink is always there. Choose Banzai, you won't be disappointed.
I currently live in Southern California but am Hawaii born. So I've been wanting the Hawaiian Islands tattooed for a long time. After asking a bunch a people about where to get some ink, I decided on Banzai. Ho dawg was that a good choice! MIKE WAS AMAZING, to say the least. He did exactly what I wanted and was even able to say no when I had unrealistic expectations. I respected that. He was professional. My tattoo is near my breast and he was very professional. He made sure I was covered and felt comfortable. When I come home, I'm for sure going to see Mike!
Review Source:I went here to get a tattoo done on my birthday a few yrs ago.. and it was my first one. i was so happy with the outcome! it really didn't hurt that bad and he took his time and did his best to make me feel comfortable with the process so i was super nervous! Will definitely be back if I decide on another tatt :)
Review Source:So glad I found this shop! Mike is by far the best tattoo artist I've ever come across. He didn't over charge me and made sure I was ok throughout the whole tattoo session. He's so different then any other artist that I know and I love it. He fixed up my half sleeve and it looks wonderful. I'll def be going back soon for more work, Â I wouldnt go anywhere else!
Review Source:My good friend Mike moved here to Banzai from the Dark Side and after a LONG haitus of no tats I decided on my next one. Â I talk/text/holla at Mike once in a while and always say, "I coming in soon" or "I'll holla at you man". Â
Finally, after 3 years since my last tat I made my decision on the size, placement, and my daughter's 2 middle chinese names "Oy" (love) and "Gin" (determination). Â I decided on my right side abs about 5x9 inches to include the 2 characters.
My wife's cousin did the calligraphy for me (he used to do it in China when he was a youngster) and confirmed it with my in laws (both from China in their younger years). Â As you can tell all my tats have special meanings and special people were a part of it.
Anyways, got to the shop and everyone was helpful and courteous. Â Mike, of course, talked stories with me about custom knives and skull jewelry and Howie (who I know from a past life) helped me with cropping, enlarging the image, and making the transfer. Â All in all, very professional and helpful.
Everything was sterile and straight up in there. Â No one can come inside unless you are getting tatted, no drinks lying all over the place, and all the specs in order. Â Even the light Mike used was wrapped like a dentist office and replaced when I left.
Anyways, the tat was painful, like it should be. Â And I was more than happy with the results. Â Mike gave me the breaks I needed, let me cry when I needed (ha ha), and just made me feel like one of his cousins hanging out at his house getting a tat.
I would reccommend Banzai Tattoo to anyone and as for the artists, I am biased to my boy Mike Higuchi. Â Straight up, a good man, and like a brother to me. Â Thanks Banzai Tattoo, I will be back!
First, Mike Higuchi is the most underrated tattoo artist in the world. Thank you for the YEARS of great work man.
Banzai has been there for about a decade, the tattoos pumped out of this place are consistently beautiful. I've gotten work done by Mike Higuchi for about decade (arm, backpiece, and leg) , Eli, and Kenzo (chest piece). Â Prices are always within reason.
I have recommended artists at Banzai to family, friends, and fellow tattooists visiting the islands.
my friend recently moved to tattoos by bong, but i think that banzai has great service. Â they're really friendly, and the put me at ease when i got my first tattoo. Â they all have skill, and i love rory's ear tatts. Â super awesome! Â prices are relatively good, too. Â i think it's better to make an appointment. Â the tattoo artists are there all the time, but the piercer is hardly ever in.
Review Source:I went to get a piercing taken out. I rated it 3 stars only because I only had experience with the piercer.
The piercer is only available in the evenings, FYI. So, if you feel like getting your nose pierced at 4pm, call ahead! I called beforehand and ensured the piercer was there. I asked if I need to make an appointment, and they said walk-ins for piercings only. Fine by me. Went by and they saw me right away to take out the piercing. Very professional and courteous!
I also want to make a note that over the phone they are really nice and polite. I had called around to other places in the Pearl City area and other places seemed a bit nasty on the phone. I called Banzai a few times over the course of a few weeks, and every time I spoke to them they were nice and helpful.
Again, I would rate them higher if I had done more than just had a piercing taken out. When I walked in there were 2 other people getting tattoos done (on a Tuesday night no less!) so I would assume they do okay work.
