On both a business and artistic level, Anita/Hummingbird Henna is simply fabulous! I am a professional Belly Dancer, and formed a relationship with Anita when we would do Dance and Henna parties together. In addition to her fabulous talent, I have always found Anita to be professional, on time, and a great communicator. Â Now that I live in Portland I very much miss working with Anita, and still haven't found someone who can quite replicate her talents =) I would recommend her to anyone without hesitation.
Review Source:As part of the Summer Reading Program at the library, we are fortunate enough to have performers like Hummingbird Henna.
Part of the program involves learning about the history of henna and is accompanied by many wonderful photographs, which really enrichs the experience.
Great for baby showers, birthday parties, slumber parties or just because!
I recently had my hand henna'ed (sic) at a recent fundraiser. Anita Bohrer, the owner of Hummingbird Henna Design, was there as a volunteer, working for tips. I had to fight through the crowd of little girls to take my turn.
Anita had several books with designs to pick from. I choose one that started at my wrist and tapered to one finger. She drew the design FREE HAND in about ten minutes. It smelled really good too (lavender.)
Of course, I was curious. She said she started with a kit and was pretty bad, initially. She kept at it, working on her designs, improving the chemistry of the paste and voila, now she a professional plus (and them some!) Intricate, complicated designs = pretty fabulous henna designs. Â Anita is now doing mehndi for Indian wedding parties. Cool.
I'm inspired. I bought a kit at a yard sale and it's just been collecting dust. Guess how I will be spending my weekend?
FYI: Anita is now booking private appointments, parties and special events. Oh yeah, she does mehndi on the bellies of pregnant moms too.
