Okay, so this place may have talented artists and friendly people but what they possess in skills they lack in business etiquette. Â While the shop is clean, modern, and very comfortable, the artists simply don't know how to operate a business in this city. Â When someone makes an appointment, don't book them out by nearly four months. Â Also, when you make a $100 deposit, please apply it to the work being done. Â Why did I pay that money? Â To have my name written-in on an over-booked artist that, by the way, spends more time chatting up his friends about real estate than he does focusing on prepping for sessions, etc. Â
I purchased a tattoo for my best friend for his birthday (a tradition) and I now wish we found a different shop. Â I'm filing a complaint with the Attorney General because I want my money back for that deposit. Â Let's just say my friend's birthday tattoo is still incomplete and his birthday was in March. Â There is NO reason why a quarter-sleeve should take five months to complete. Â Perhaps Ryan should consider spending more time in his shop than on vacation or whatever it is he does. Â Perhaps he needs to take on more artists so people can actually have a positive experience and get a tattoo in a timely manner.
Oh, Ryan always tries to reschedule at the last minute because he clearly doesn't know how to manage time. Â The original appointment was almost changed when Ryan called and requested it be earlier in the day. Â But he's the one that originally told us to come in during the evening. Â Then, when they FINALLY made an appointment to fill-in the outline (months later), he called and cancelled an hour before the appointment. Â Bad business. Â Poor etiquette. Â Like I said, Ryan's a cool guy with great talent but man, he cannot operate business like a professional by any stretch of the imagination.
Came here on March 14 2013 to get work done as a birthday present. Spoke with Ryan Willard who said that the earliest he could get me in was May 29th 2013 at 5:30pm. Hesitantly, I agreed to go through with the wait as I really respect Ryan's work. So, I decided to go ahead and put the $104.00 down to reserve my spot.
On May 29th 2013, Nate from Ryan's office called to ask if I could come in earlier, I said I couldn't so we just stuck with the time we had originally set. Went in at 5:30pm and Ryan didn't have anything ready, his friends came in and chatted for about an hour before he would even start. After only about an hour and 15 mins of doing outline work he stopped and proceed to charge $312.00(with a 20% tip) for that little amount of work. I was already starting to regret my relationship with this place.
He said that he would re-schedule a time for me to come back in and start on finishing up the project. His studio refused to schedule me, refused to return calls, and when we finally did set up a time (which I had to take time away from work, ultimately losing out on more money) he called an canceled right when I was headed out for our appointment. Needless to say, this was the final straw that broke the camel's back, I requested that he refund my money of the $104.00 that was to be applied to the finished project and he is refusing. I had to file a complaint with the Colorado State Attorney Generals office and now prepping him for collections efforts. Avoid this place AT ALL COSTS. I know how tattoo shops operate and, yes, while they're never really in the realm of "good" business practices, this one tops all those shops in Denver. Thanks Marion Street Tattoo gallery for ruining my birthday and my experience. You won't last long in business with an attitude like yours. Â Enjoy what's coming your way!
Jess Tanner is the best! I went to her before she moved over to Marion Street and I'm so glad she did. The space is very clean and open and everything about it has a very artistic look and feel. Jess is absolutely amazing! Her style is very unique and she uses vegan ink! Who even knew that was a thing?! My partner has had most of their work done by AJ who is also the bees knees!
