I would definitely recommend 7 Seas! Tonya was very clean and professional and a delight. In fact, everyone at the shop was super nice and down to earth, very welcoming! I already had an image in mind and after looking through all the diverse styles Tonya can tattoo I was confident I'd walk out happy. She does great work and you can tell she really just wants to give you a tattoo you can be proud of! I'll definitely be back.
Review Source:I got my originall tattoo from Tonya about 3 years ago. It was my first tattoo and right off the batt I felt comfortable. I iust went back a week ago to get it touched up and she redid the whole thing. One of the best tatooers around! I am in love with my tattoo all over again. Tonya is a perfectionist and so nice! The shop was very clean and had good music. I would recommend Tonya to anyone!
Review Source:I heard about this shop from numerous friends and liked their ink, so I came here with my friend to get matching paperclip tattooes before she leaves me for the East Coast. Billy ended up being our artist and did a truly outstanding job! We love our paperclips! Billy is a visiting artist from Colorado/Hawaii/the East Coast, but if you have a chance to get in prior to September to see him I highly recommend it. I also had him re-work another piece I had done at a different SD shop that had turned out sloppy and just not what I had wanted. His solution was not only creative, fixed all the original works' blemishes, but it's beautiful and a true work of art! It now captures what I had originally envisioned. I couldn't be happier. Billy was incredibly patient, professional, entertaining, kind, and an amazing artist. I have nothing but great things to say about 7 Seas!
Review Source:This place is awesome! My best friend and I just decided it was time to get our tattoos before we go back to college and part ways-and I'm so glad we got them done here! Totally spur of the moment decision and they saw us as walk ins, super helpful with helping us draw our design-Alfy was our artist and he was really chill-helped me draw the design I've been planning for a year but made helpful criticism to keep it from looking bad-and he made sure to stress that I had to be happy with it, no matter how many times he had to redraw it because it was going to be on my skin forever-he was super chill and he gave me an awesome tattoo for a great price, and my friend loves hers as well. Highly recommend this place and might come back for another :)
Review Source:Seriously, one of the cleanest and most professional tattoo parlors out here!! My artist was a visitor from Virginia ((white guy with dreadlocks), and he was freaking on point! The whole time I was there I was treated professionally and courteously. The detail that went into my tattoo was superb. I can not say enough about how great this place is.
Review Source:I really cannot say enough great things about this place. Â The atmosphere isn't pretentious, the artists are super accommodating, and the quality of the tattoo I received is incredible. Â I walked in with a general idea, and upon listening to my concerns, ALFY decided to create a beautiful piece that completely blew me away. Â When I went back for the work the next day, he worked quickly, but very competently and I have never had a more pleasant tattooing experience. He was completely in-tune with my needs. I will be going back to get another marvelous piece of art tattooed by this phenomenal shop.
Heads up, it's a cash only shop.
My husband and I walked in based on someone's recommendation, just to check the place out and see if they had time for small finger tattoos at some point. They weren't busy that day so Alfy took care of my husband and Caz did mine. They were both really respectful and made us feel comfortable, no drama or fuss. Alfy even touched up a tattoo of my husband's and it immediately looked way better (it's since been a few months and now it's just perfect). We definitely felt at home there. It's a great, relaxed atmosphere and we'll be happy to get several more pieces done by these guys.
Review Source:Seven Seas has an awesome atmosphere. They do not have pretentious artists who think they are better than you just because they have more tattoos. They are respectful and helpful to every guest and I always feel comfortable every time I go there. They are also very fair on their prices, I always tip because the price they quote me is less than expected. I have had Caz work on me a few times, and this time I tried Alfie. He was really chill, conversed with me the whole time unless I was quiet and he gave me my space. I appreciate the professional atmosphere when I go to the shop, I hate the shops who give you attitude and treat you like your stupid if you don't know exactly what you want.
Review Source:I just got my first tattoo from Caz at 7 Seas Tattoo and I couldn't be happier. Â I didn't have a drawing or a stencil of what I wanted, just an idea in my head. Â With very little to go on, Caz took exactly what I was thinking and put it on paper and made it a reality. Â The tattoo was a homage to my mother and Caz captured things about her that I never even mentioned. He did amazing work from start to finish and was very patient and thorough as we were figuring out the details of the piece. Â In the end, he captured exactly what I wanted and charged me a very reasonable price for the gorgeous piece of art that I will carry around forever!
Review Source:fantastic first timer experience. i found 7 seas tattoo via yelp...and was not disappointed. i walked in, after calling and getting information the day before, and had the pleasure of meeting ALFY- who made my experience fantastic. seriously, alfy was the freaking man. not only did he have an awesomely mellow and sweet personality, he was knowledgeable about his craft - and very easy to work with. i brought my design/idea to him - and we worked together to narrow it down, and flesh it out - and came up with a fantastic end product. not only that - he was kind to my fears, and gave me fantastic after care advice. i would highly recommend 7 seas tattoos to a friend :) thanks alfy for helping to make my birthday and my first tattoo such a wonderful experience!
Review Source:I have a decent amount of tattoos and have been to several shops in San Diego but this is by far my favorite mostly because Alfy did such an amazing job. He did a beautiful Ganesh head on my leg, I am truly in love with it, the colors are beautiful and the lines are very clean.
I initially wanted the entire Ganesh but he recommend I just do the head and it came out so beautiful. I want to wear shorts in the winter just so I can show it off. I'm glad he tweaked my idea because I think it came out better that way. He is an artist that takes pride in his work and if he doesn't think something will look good he will tell you, and I totally respect that.
I'm so happy with Alfy's work it's my favorite tattoo.
I've been getting tattooed by ALFY for a few years now and have never had less than an amazing experience (he has done nearly 20 of my tattoos). Great artist, great person, great friend. It truly is a privilege to know him and get tattooed by him. Also, DAN is a legend. One would be extremely hard pressed to find another tattooer of his caliber. And he is one of the most genuinely nicest guys you will ever meet. I am a huge fan of the hand painted flash on the walls and all of the original artwork. It adds a dimension that most shops lack and shows a lot of pride. I WON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE TO GET TATTOOED. Wish I could give 7 Seas 10 stars.
Review Source:If you're coming to San Diego and wanting a tattoo or live anywhere near here and also in need, this is the place to go. Dan, Cruz, and Thor are helpful and offer great professional advice in selecting a piece and do absolutely phenomenal work. Their books do not give justce to the quality of their tattoos. I've gotten an amazing chest piece from Dan and my brother and I went and got similar tattoos for his birthday. Both have kept their color like I've never seen before. Dan is extremely creative and has neat, strait lines and uses amazing color. The shop is very well kept and good luck finding anyone to give a bad review. Their prices are amazing too, the reviews alone should get you to go look, even if not thinking of a tattoo right away.
Review Source:Dan is working on a tattoo for my husband. Â I cannot say enough nice things about him. As a person, he is so nice and easy to talk to and just an all around nice guy. Â As an artist, he is amazing. Â Unbelievably good. Â My husband's tattoo is almost complete and it is spectacular. Â I will post a picture when it is finished. I HIGHLY recommend 7 Seas and Dan.
Review Source:A friend recommended this parlor to me after a bunch of his MMA friends got their signature tattoo from here. The shop itself is a small office on the bottom floor of a apartment complex and you could easily pass it without seeing it. However, the place looks great inside; the walls are stacked with really great drawings of various pinup girls, Asian inspired sleeves, and a few original ideas from each tattoo artist. The thing that really convinced me of this place was their work with colors. A majority of their tattoos have really bold and bright colors that keep their intensity. Serg hooked me up with a tattoo idea that I found on the internet and added a little of his style to it. He was really easy to work with and did an awesome job. The price of my tattoo was very reasonable and the art was amazing. Thanks guys!
Review Source:After reading their reviews on yelp, I went there to get my 15 year old tattoo fixed. It needed to be re-lined and re-colored. I talked to DAN,he explained everything clear and perfect. He was doing another tat so he told me to come back in hour. I went back,in half n hour my tattoo looked like it was brand new and he also made some modifications which kicked ass. He is an awesome guy and he did not see my job small or try to give the job to someone else.Props for that. The place is not like a PB tattoo shop. It is not overdone ,it is pretty relaxing. THANKS DAN..
Review Source:This is a top notch tattoo shop with all very solid tattooers. I've been in hundreds of shops and traveled around the country getting tattooed by some of the best, and this shop is up at the top of the list.
Everyone here does great tattoos and artwork. Just bought myself a Surge painting from their art show. They all have their own distinct styles. Make sure you look at their books before you hit them up for some tribal dolphin mess, and let them do their thing.
I took my sister here for her first tattoo when she came to visit me! Â Dan took care of us and while we both got similar tattoos he was able to make them unique to each of us. Â My sister, who never thought she'd get a tattoo, loves hers. Â This is my second, first was done in Cleveland where I'm from. Â I love mine, the color is great and in time I'm looking to get a sleeve done and plan on going back to Dan.
I felt the price they charged was extremely reasonable especially since he took the time to design two different tattoos for us both. Â I highly recommend going to check it out!
I had walked by 7 Seas numerous times on my days/nights downtown or on a Pokez fix. Â It is a small shop in the bottom of a newer apartment building. Â I had seen work from previous artists of the shop and knew that it would be a good place to start for a bright, bold tattoo.
I was right. Â Caz helped me out and listened intently on my design idea, then advised me on what would and wouldn't work with the design, placement, etc. Â His candor was very honest and you can tell he knows what he is talking about. Â At the same time, I never felt intimidated or pressured.
A few days later I came back and took a look at his design and loved it. Â My left arm has never looked better. Â 2.5 hours later I had an incredible tattoo with bold black and bright red accents. Â I could tell that Caz enjoyed the design and took a lot of pride in his work. Â A very fair price was presented and I was more than happy to tip. Â
For a fan of bold color and strong black lines, I highly recommend 7 Seas and Caz for anyone thinking of their next tattoo.
(I posted a picture in the photos. Â The black raven with "Consider the Ravens" banner)
I am a 64 year old woman who got my first tattoo from Dan Pryor about a year ago to mark my retirement. Â Three poppies on my left calf to symbolize my three grandchildren.
As I sat on my couch tonight, I decided to really study the work that Dan did.  It is simply amazing.  This guy is not only an astounding tattoo technician but also a very talented artist. The nuances of color and borders are simply beautiful  I am so happy that I met Dan and had him do my quite astounding tattoo.  I am trying to resist the temptation to have more art done.  At my age, it's a little ridiculous.  But, my goodness, this guy is so talented.  If you have ever wanted a tattoo, Seven Seas is the place to go.
Caz retouched an old tattoo on my ankle. Â He sketched a fantastic drawing based on what I was looking for and 3.5 hours later, I had a masterpiece. Â People compliment the color all the time and never realize that it's a touchup. Â I always refer them right back here! Â Check it out!!!
Review Source:I went in not even really planning on getting something done, although I wanted to... we did not have appts but both ended up getting something. I had a general vibe/scene idea and chatted with Caz about it while my friend got something done. Caz was very concerned about what I wanted, although I wanted to give him artistic freedom. He communicates well to make sure you get what you want and he's also real cool. He worked very hard and put a lot of time and effort into drawing something up for me and then putting it on me. He stayed working on me until 11pm!!! Â Its still a work in progress but it is BEAUTIFUL and exactly what I've been wanting. He worked with me on the price and he did such a wonderful job that when I get my tips for the week i 'm going back in to give him a better tip. And you better believe I'll be back in a couple weeks with a healed tat ready for more work and of course more money so I can pay him what he's worth!!!!
Review Source:Decided to get a tattoo a little before Comic-Con this year. Although it was a bit of a wait, we were eventually worked on by Dan. Very cordial, nice guy. Did a great job with what we wanted and gave us a very generous price for the work. What I enjoyed was the true feeling that these guys are dedicated to their work and actually go out of their way to make sure you get exactly what it is you want. If you're in the San Diego area in the mood for some ink, see these guys. You won't be sorry.
Review Source:This is the ONLY PLACE Â I will EVER go to get a tattoo in San Diego.
Dan Pryor is the man--my husband and I call Dan our "family tattoo artist" because he's done pretty much ALL of our work.
I could gush on and on about his work , but suffice it to say that there's no pretension in this place--just REAL tattoo artists, no BS, reasonable pricing, and good people.
Caz just finished up about 15 hours on me and I couldn't be happier with the work he did. Â
After years of waiting for my next tattoo vision to strike, it finally came a few months ago. Â I live in San Francisco and started checking out shops up here. Â I wanted to get a phoenix but didn't get a good vibe from anyone up in SF. Â I came down to San Diego for work in May and checked out a few shops. Â
Went over to Seven Seas and met Caz. Â Real cool guy. Â Very interested from the start. Â I came back a couple days later to look at some designs he drew up, and that was that. Â I loved what he put together and came back for my first session a few days later. Â Came back to San Diego for two more sessions after that. Â Definitely worth the trips to get tattooed by good artist that understands what you want. Â Seven Seas is a great tattoo shop, Caz is a great artist, and I'll be back when I get the itch again.
As soon as you walk in to 7 Seas you know it, and it's artists, are different. The first time you hear the buzzing of some ink machines with swing music in the background you kind stop and think "is that swing music I hear? In a tattoo shop?". Yes my friends, these are not your run of the mill heavy metal headbanging needle slayers. As a matter of fact, I know that Sergio is a professional artist, not just a tattooist. I cannot wait to meet the rest of the crew.
I will be returning shortly as soon as I scrounge up some more cash. On that note, this is a cash-only shop.

I was there just a couple of week ago with my BFF to get matching tats. Â I know, corny right? Â Well that's who we are corny BF for about 13 years now, so we decided....hey let's do it! So I have several tats, and I had a good experience there before so I suggested we go there. Â She had only gotten one about a month prior to our visit. Â I could tell she was nervous, but Caz was super cool and chill. Â How could we not love him? Â He made her feel super comfortable but still professional. His work is good...and he was FAST FAST FAST! Â I would go there again and again!
Review Source:OMG! I have been waiting to get my back done cuz I wanted to make sure I found a great place....and here it is. The artist are great and very welcoming and me and my husband got stuff done here and both times Caz got what we wanted down to the "T". I am still getting stuff done on my back and so I go back tomorrow. I would recomend this place to everyone. I have seen all their  work and all of them are awsome. Can't go wrong here...
Review Source:Alright. So I could just waste my time by saying, "Oh my god, greatest shop ever, best tattoo, great  guys, blah blah blah."
Or,
I can simply say that the quality of work at 7 Seas is at the highest end of the artistic spectrum.
EVERYONE at 7 Seas is a true craftsmen, a master at their trade, rivaled by few, apart from many. These guys stand out. How do I know? Talk to another tattooist in California. Ask them if they've heard of Milford or Dan Pryor. When another artist reps the craftsmanship these guys display, it'll be worth more than anything I can write here. These guys have a lot of respect and admiration in the industry. You'll soon find that out.
My personal experience was with Dan. I had been recommended 7 Seas by a friend who new Tyler at the shop and thought I'd walk in to see if I could get someone to do a quick script tattoo on my forearm. This was the first time I met Dan. Instantly, no joke, I knew I was in good hands. His tattoo was over the top, beyond what I expected. His line work is amazing. It's rare to get someone with such a straight, steady, dead on hand who's still efficient and quick. From that point on I was hooked and new I had met my lifelong artist. Dan's also finished a full torso piece for me, something that started off as mediocre at best by another artist at a different shop, but polished and refined by Dan into something that I'm so incredibly happy to wear on a daily basis.
I've also just made another appointment to sit with Dan for a full sleeve. I'm flying down from San Jose, CA. There's no where else on the face of the planet I'd rather get tattooed. It just isn't worth it to go anywhere else after working with these guys.
7 C's is the best! Â
I get all my work done from Dan and he is the only person that I want to do my tattoo work. Â He has proven himself to me so much so that I give him a lot of artistic freedom. Â
He is up front and honest about what will look good and what won't. Â Everything said, he will tattoo what you want but he will give you an honest opinion on it. Â
I have heard a lot of good about the other guys in the shop also.
Best shop in town and the only shop I will go too!! All the artwork on the wall is done by house artist and I have never heard anything bad about the place. The shop is clean and well kept. The artist are awesome and I dare someone to find a flaw with the shop. I've gotten multiple tattoo's from Dan and the prices have always been good. The work has always been great!!!
Review Source:This place doesnt even look like a tattoo shop from the outside, but once you walk in and hear the machines, see the art work on the wall, you know you're in the right place.
Normaly you think that when a place is cheap you think it's going to suck or that they dont care..but thats not the case with Seven Seas. I think the artist care about the tattoo and dont try to rip you off. They are reasonable with the way they charge you and dont fuck you over.
I've gotten all my tattoos at Seven Seas. I'm happy with all the work. I always get compliments about the work and how clean it is. I've recomended it to a lot of people and they always get back to me about how happy they are with the work.
3 of the 4 tattoo's I have have been done by Dan, and one by Denny, who last I heard works at Avalon 2.
I just got done from my tattoo appointment  with Serge, who Im only going to from now on...Im sorry, but everything this guy does is amazing I always feel like what I pay at the end is never enough for what this talented artist completes.I always try to get people to go to this shop because not only him but the other fella's that run this spot are just soooo tight! Im in love with my new chest piece...It's exactly how I invisioned it being in the begining, and Im just really, really  happy right now...even though these guys can draw/sketch up anything imaginable maybe, its good to go in with an idea or something to go on..some people just show up wanting something they dont really know what to get,Theres ton's of rad art on the walls to get those types an idea..these guys know how to get you from point a to b, and I like that...THANK YOU SERGE! THANK YOU!!
Review Source:I read the reviews today and took an unassuming walk down the street to 'check out the place.' I just happened to have a design in my back pocket. All the below reviews are spot on. Caz is very professional. There is no elitism in this shop, no bullshit, and it's clean. Caz took me as a walk in, and I was out in no time. The conversation was pleasant and the poster who mentioned that the work was less painful was right - this is my 14th piece and it was actually the least painful. He obviously knows exactly how to hit the spot.
The prices are very reasonable, and the work is great. It's not often you can find a new home, but this will be my new resource for ink. It's all about who you can trust and there is no reason not to think that this is one of the better shops I have seen in Southern California.
7 Seas is a true old school sailor type shop. Very clean and unassuming. No printed clip art on the walls. All the art on the wall is done by the artists by hand. I've been going to Caz for three years, I've gotten 6 tattoo's from him that rage from printed words, Hawaiian  turtles, Escher style lizards,  and Pin up girls.  The price has always been more then fair. Caz is quick and very professional. Maybe I have a high tolerance to pain, but I've never felt physically uncomfortable when getting work done, I've almost fallen asleep when in the chair.  I can't wait until I get enough money to get one piece finished and to start on another.
Review Source:this is where i go for alllllllll my work! everything from my sleeve, to my back, to my eyebrows! Ford is my artist (though Kate did my brows) and i get compliments EVERY day. my work has also been photographed for a UK tattoo magazine!
Ford is incredibly sweet and easy to talk to. he makes you feel like you aren't getting needles scratched all over your flesh. and his pricing is great. he does incredible color. totally listens to what you want, and isn't afraid you give you his own opinions... which for me is greatly welcome since my art doesn't extend past stick figures.
i always tell people to go to Ford for all traditional tattoos!
I paid Cas a visit at 7 Seas based on a few recommendations and I am glad I did. 7 seas is an unassuming shop with little attitude and great service.
Cas took excellent care of me working with my stencils. He really took the time to answer my questions, work with me on positioning my tattoos, etc.
This shop is clean and well maintained. As should be expected, all items used to apply the tattoo were properly sterilized. Before we began, Cas open all his tools up in front of me while asking me to observe them being removed from sterilized packaging.
To top that off he charged me an extremely fair price.
Needless to say, I am headed back to 7 Seas for my next tattoo.
