You guys, I cannot express how awesome this shop is! Seriously. The glowing reviews on Yelp are true. This one is BY FAR the friendliest, most welcoming shop I've been to. The moment you walk in the door you're greeted with a smile. Their customer service is on point. It's SO hard to find great customer service these days so I'm way impressed with the staff at Ace of Hearts.
I recently had my floral themed half-sleeve added to/shaded by Cole Strem (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcolestrem.com&s=56d54121743330ad89eebb8dea917b8a402b934ad127e5fbd98cc8980bcb5ea2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://colestrem.com</a>). Not only was Cole personable (super friendly, no attitude at all) and totally professional, he did a fantastic job on my sleeve. My flowers were brought back to life with his new additions and creative shading techniques. I'm extremely happy with his work and I plan to get another piece done by him soon.

Baaed on piercing only: Okay they get one star because the lady piercer is HOT and super sweet but inexperienced.
I called ahead and asked for info about the double spider bite lip piercings, the cute girl said come on in and the price was right. The normal needle you pierce is with a 16, she did a 14 which hurt a bit more. I explained that I didn't want anything obvious so somewhere in there a decision came to put a 16 gague ball on a 14 gauge rod....WTF...FAIL. That got fixed pronto which I appreciate. I paid, left the girl a pretty big tip because Tipping isnt a city in China. I went to the car to drink (a soda) and the piercing came out. Since the piercing was so fresh it closed instantly so I angrily drove back to see what they could do. The piercer kept jamming a blunt shaft into my closed lip and then finally got a needle and pierced it again and it all fell apart because the shaft got caught on the clamp. She asked me to hold my own needle with my hands that weren't sanitary and I refused because of sanitation reasons. The woman kept dropping EVERYTHING. Will never go back for a piercing.
I was looking around for a good tattoo shop when I saw this place and the reviews were fantastic so I thought I'd go check it out. Came in and talked with Javie, gave him a rough idea of what I wanted and he totally made it come alive. He did such a great job!!! Turned out better than I envisioned it! I definitely recommend this place! The environment is chill and the tattooers are great. For sure the place to go!

I've personally been tattooed by oscar on multiple occasions. Great guy, very passionate and completely humble. If you are on the fence about what you want done, give him and idea and he will roll with it and produce something better than what you imagined.
He's mostly done traditional pieces on me and I have to say, the bold heavy lines and bright colors are out of this world! This guy knows what he is doing!
I read a lot of reviews for different shops in the area.. I came across ace of hearts it had great reviews ...so went to check it out! Â We met with Javie and explained what we wanted done ..It had to be perfect is was my daughters First Tattoo..
He did and AMAZING JOB! He lisened to what  we wanted and took it all in It Came Out PERFECT!!

All I have to say is Oscar Montes is a Professional Bad Ass! His talent as an artist has not taken away his amazing kindness and patience! He has a gentle hand and his work is better than any artist I have been too. I gave him an idea to add to one of my existing tattoos and the end product exceeded my highest expectations! He is a master tattooer in my book! I can not wait for another session with Oscar!

Review Source:I walked into Ace of Hearts about 3 years ago with the intention of a few cover-ups from my teenage years, and Joe Truck just blew my mind!
I gave him my concepts and he ran with it and I have not gone anywhere for my work since, he's a great shop owner and artist.
No attitude, very professional and not over priced.
Joe has done my sleeve, 3 cover ups and finished some work I needed to get done over 10 years ago and never made me feel less than for waiting so long.
My most favorite thing about my work is that he makes it for me, he gets to know you and really shows your personality mixed with his creativity and craft to create work that is second to none.
I get SO many compliments on my tattoos now I no longer feel ashamed to wear a tank top, I love showing off my work and I give out his cards all the time.
Go in and se him or Oscar, they are all super rad and are not rude or judgmental like a lot of shops out there.

I love the old school feel that ace of hearts has. The walls are covered in all kinds of art and flash. Love the bright red! The artist each have their own area but it still nice and open so everyone can still talk and laugh and admire the work that someone else is getting done.
I've been working on my leg with Oscar Montes for a while now. He's an amazing traditional artist. His lines are dark and straight and his color work is the brightest I've ever gotten. Some of the work he did on me from 2 years ago still looks brand new. I can't go anywhere without someone asking me who did my work. It's nice to have found a tattoo artist and a friend for life.
I highly recomend ace of hearts tattoo to anyone looking for high quality ink at a fair price and a with a great atmosphere.

Been getting tattooed by Joe Truck for 6 years now. Always does an amazing job and is fast. The shop is nice and clean, and beautiful on the inside. Tons of art and flash all over every wall. Recently have been getting tattooed by Oscar Montes and Javie Dev also. Oscar is the master of portraits and knocked out a beautiful Audrey Hepburn piece on me. I recommend all my friends to come here.

Johnny Luck is great at what he does. He makes it a fun experience, too! Would highly recommend this place. He did an awesome Lion coverup on my friend and though it was getting late, he still took his time to make sure everything came out looking great. A few people from work go here and recommended it to us. Glad they did. We'll be back.
On a side note, The guys in that shop are a riot. Fun experience. :)
I've been going to Joe Truck for about 4 or 5 years now and he has done all of my tattoos, he is amazing I have always been extremely satisfied with the quality his work. My boyfriend and I have been going there for 2 years now. I am very picky about who tattoo's me and do my research before I decide where to go. I am gonna faithfully be going there for all my work. Review Source:Joe is one of the most talented tattoo artists out there. His shop runs on skill, love and honesty, no gimmicks here like the celebrity trash shops on TV or paid for ads in glossy mags. Mr. Truck takes his time on consults and is ultra detailed and clean with his ink technique. Prices ar very fair. As for the other artists at the shop, I do not have any experience with them. However, their portfolios are impressive and I'm sure Joe would not hire bad artists in his shop just to fill stations. I hope to be back on Joe's table very soon

I just got my first tattoo today and Ace of Hearts seemed like such a great place from what I read on here. I called yesterday and talked to Johnny and he seemed so nice. I came in today and Johnny was the one that tattooed me. Like I said it was my first tattoo so I was really nervous. His sense of humor made me feel at ease. He understood what I wanted and it wasn't even painful. He explained how to take care of it and how to ensure a successful tattoo. Plus, it was totally affordable to me, which I really liked. Not to mention the place was totally clean and welcoming. My tattoo turned out amazing and I will definitely be coming back here for my future tattoos!
Would i recommend this place? you better damn believe it. if you like your tattoos custom and clean then you're going to want to head over to Ace of Hearts tattoo. Joe Truck is phenomenal. so phenomenal that half of all my body art has been done by him and i have a lot more that needs to be done.
the shop has to be one of the cleanest around. the crew is the best you're going to get especially for the price. don't sweat it, you wont be spending 3 months salary getting that piece you've been planning and wanting for.
the place is still open and the artists are still around for a reason.

My friend and I walked into Ace of Hearts randomly to get an estimate for a design I had been meaning to get tattooed for a couple years. Since it's been quite a few years since I've gotten inked, I was a little more reserved, but the staff... was just so friendly, and the atmosphere was so inviting, that I decided to go for it.
My tattoo artist, Fernando, did such an AMAZING job. He did the outline and shading (solid black) for my 7-inch tattoo in less than 2 hours with very little pain. And although it didn't bother me, he even retouched a previous tattoo for FREE because he took a few breaks to pierce some customers.
I convinced my friend to get a small tattoo, she had been putting off, on her inner wrist from Johnny, and she loves it!
I think we will both be returning to Ace of Hearts for any future tattoo work. Johnny, Fernando, and the rest of the staff were professional, entertaining, and talented.

Joe is great! I just got a half sleeve started with him. Not only is he a great guy to talk to but the most professional tattoo-artist I've met.
This is the 2nd tattoo Ive gotten with him out of the 8 I have :). I will continue going back to Joe if I ever want anymore tattoos since it is always a pleasant experience.
His prices are beyond reasonable and he is fasstttt!!! (aka less pain! :) )

Ace of Hearts has a fundraiser benefiting the Harbor Shelter and so my days of dragging my ass to get get another tattoo were over. I mean how fucking awesome is that to get a tat and benefit the shelter that cared for 2 of 4 of my furbabies?!?
Talked to Chris, who is a younger artist with so much soul and passion, and set up an appointment.
Went in late on weeknight and Chris allowed me to use my own design that I had been holding onto for 2.5 years. He was so nice and we had a great convo!
Pain wasn't too bad and it didn't take long at all. I almost cried I was so happy seeing my vision on me! I still get a little choked up looking at it.
It's healing nicely and I'm already planning my next ink with Chris.
Ace of Hearts is the only place I will ever get tattooed. All of the artists are amazing and the environment is friendly and fun. I strongly recommend the owner, Joe Truck, for anything. He does all my work and the one time I got tattooed by someone else I had to have him cover it up. He is talented in every type of work - old school, new school, portraits, lettering, you name it! Go to Ace of Hearts for all your tattoos!
Review Source:I brought my daughter in to get her nose pierced and the lady doing the piercing must have been new or something. My daughter had to wait for like 45 minutes while trying to get the piercing in and clamped down. The shop took care of us due to the wait but I cant say I can recommend their piercing.
Joe from the shop followed up with me to let me know the piercer we had the issue with had been let go and he offered a full refund for my trouble. I have to say I'm impressed with the follow up.
I was referred here by a very good friend of mine. I was shopping around for artists since I wanted to have a custom tattoo done on my shoulder. The tattoo I wanted had to incorporate an eagle, lion, and the filipino stars and sun into the who tattoo which resembles the filipino crest. Going to different places and being let down, I thought I should try this place.
Going to this place is great. When you walk in you get a feel that this place is a very professional shop compared to the others I been to before. The people are very friendly and are easy to talk to. Made the 2-3 hours of my tattoo go by fast. The shop is clean and Joe is one of the best, if not the best, that I have seen doing tattoos.
As for my tattoo. I couldnt be more happy. The detail that Joe put into my tattoo is amazing. I cant even describe how detailed it is and how happy i am with his work. I currently have a cross on my other shoulder and will be definitely go back to add more to it to make it even with the other side. You wont regret going to this place. Trust me.

I checked this place out based on the Yelp reviews, and they did not disappoint. Great group of talented and genuinely nice people.
Thea did a couple tattoos and some color touch up on a few older tats. I was really happy with her work, and how quickly she finished. The quality of her tattooing is excellent. She is a very talented artist that I will definitely come back to in the future.
I went in to get a tattoo on my side....well this is the bigeest one that i have and i wanted it exactly the way that i want and that is exactly what Thea gave me! I looove Thea. She is the first girl that I have let tattoo me and loved it! It wasn't as painful as I thought. I only have my outline right now but I can't wait to get it filled in! The place looks great and looked very clean!! I have told a lot of my friends about this place and hopefully will be taking my boyfriend to go get his stuff done soon.

Review Source:I went here a couple weeks ago after looking on yelp for a new place to go...this was my eighth tattoo. I have to agree with everyone else on this place. it was good. I was greeteed right away when I walked in and everyone was nice. within about 15 mins i had Jon tattooing me. I got a traditional rose in red/pink and yellow. Im very happy with it planning to go back in a couple weeks for another. Only thing is that jon presses VERY hard to tattoo i wasnt used to it ended up goin to the doctor to check it, he said that my skin just got irritated from being pressed too hard. but overall im happy and ready for another.

Review Source:after my artist left the southbay to work in another state i started the long, difficult process of finding another artist for my next tattoo. After searching and reading review after review i ventured to venice beach in hopes of getting a quality tattoo for a fair price... thankfully, i decided to reconsider my options, and i eventually found myself at ace of hearts, it wasn't to much to look at judging by the outside, after all its pretty tucked away in that little strip mall on gaffey and channel. but upon entering the shop i realized that the ambiance of this place was exactly what i had been looking for. I felt very welcomed upon entering ace of hearts, the artists were very helpful. i was very impressed by the work Joe Truck had done, but i was even more impressed by the price i paid. (i would dare say this hidden gem has the best prices in the south bay, but that's just my opinion) since then i have gotten at least 4 other things done, and i am still equally as impressed. everyone here is amazingly talented so, if your into tattoos and piercings this is the place to go.
