I just went threw the toughest year of my life dealing with cancer. After telling Boot, an artist and the owner of Aces High I wanted a tattoo to remind me to fight on and do not take any day for granted he took the time to draw me out a custom one of a kind tattoo. I can not say enough good about Boot, his tattoo studio, or his employees. If your wanting a top of the line professional tattoo it would be worth it to drive for hours and get it from the best.

Review Source:A friend and I have been talking about getting tattoos for a loooong time, but hadn't yet gotten any. We were on vacation in the Myrtle Beach area after not having seen each other for a long time and decided, y'know what, we can't find anyone who wants to do it otherwise...let's do it while we're there. We did research on several area tattoo shops and visited them one by one. Aces High came highly recommended, and literally as soon as we wandered in, we could see why.
First, the place just looks clean. You can feel safe and comfortable walking in. The place is well laid out, very comfortable, and has tons of pictures of what each of the employees can offer. But on top of that, as soon as we walked in, one of the employees (the artist who actually ended up doing our tats: Brock) greeted us. He was very friendly, and when we gave him our tattoo ideas, he not only immediately knew what they were and what we were looking for, he happily talked to us about them, gave us a price/time estimate, and showed us around. The other places we went to were more begrudging, or gave us the cold shoulder, or just over all made us feel unwelcome. Nope--not here.
We went back to our resort and discussed which place we liked most, and both immediately said Aces High.
The whole time Brock was doing his work--first on my friend, then on me--we never ever felt dumb for this being our first tattoo experience. He explained how painful it would be, gave advice, asked repeatedly what we wanted to make sure it wasn't awful. As we were the only two in the shop for a while, the other artists came over to talk to us too and really helped us out. They made some jokes, and helped us laugh and relax.
These guys here are seriously great. They know what they're doing. Brock, for instance, had 27 years of experience under his belt. I just got a small tatttoo on my wrist, but it's incredibly detailed for what it is. Like--amazingly so.
Honestly, I recommend these guys: not only are they talented, but it's a place that can make even a nervous first-time tattoo getter feel welcome.
Researched a few places for my first tattoo. I wasn't sure which artist I would get so after looking at their online portfolios I found that each one of the artists had nice work. I called first and spoke to a man who told me that it'd be best to walk in. So I did. Billy did my tattoos and was nice and took suggestions I had but also added his own spin to things. Great deal too. Thanks so much. It was a good experience.
UPDATE: 5 days after getting tattoos I must say the healing process has been great. No redness or irritation. I followed the directions I was sent home with and couldn't be more impressed.

Act 1.
We came here a few weeks ago. After doing my Yelpsearch on some tattoo shops. I noticed the location for more than 5 shops in the same area. Since they were all located basically next to each other; and they are at least 30 mins away. (Ahhhhhh, I'm really starting to talk myself out of this reallyyyyyy quickly).
Act 2.
Listening to my inner self after reading all the reviews for this/as well as the multitude of other tattoo shop. I pick this one. Called to see if they were open. (It was a Tuesday, which was my birthday. And for that reason alone I fell like some places my observe  it as a holiday). The guy ("J".... the Poe Fan) that answered the phone seemed up beat. I told him I just got married & my birthday is today. We would like to come in & get inked.  He simply replied, "Awwww, sweet!  Congrats. Come on in & I'll hook you up"!
Act 3.
After traveling 30 minutes, we made a LEFT onto the side street. GPS says its on the left. Well, it's in a business strip mall. And ALL the business's were You guest it, TATTOO SHOPS. Cool, no worries. Walked in, did a little vibe-test. Looking around & seen ut was very clean, lisence on ghe wall, etc. After a few sports talk minutes. He was OK with me. We had an idea if the tattoo we wanted. We all talked it out and he made it happen.
Act 4.
While my wife was getting her tattoo, I noticed he "J....the Poe fan" had a lot of artwork in his area. I noticed he had a picture of Edgar Allen Poe. He just happens to be my favorite short strory author. After that, I knew I was in the right place, gettin tatted by the right person! I mean how rare is that!! Edgar Allen Poe!
Went in today with my boyfriend, his sister and brother to get coordinating tattoos to commemorate our time together here this week and walked away with fantastic pieces of art to last a lifetime.
Jim took on my boyfriend and my designs and gave us very clean, beautiful traditional tattoos. He was a pleasure to talk to and I would highly recommend him.
Boot worked magic with the other two designs as well, especially my boyfriend's sister's tattoo - he took her idea and elevated it into a gorgeous custom piece.
The shop was impeccably clean and everyone was very friendly and personable. We had a very pleasant afternoon and look forward to stopping in next year when we're in town again.
I finally got my first tattoo and I couldn't have picked a better place to get it done. It turned out exactly how I wanted it to. Everyone in the shop was very helpful and friendly. We spoke to the owner for awhile and you can tell he takes pride in the shop. The whole place is clean and I had no hesitation getting my tattoo here. The artist was great and I would absolutely recommend this shop.
Review Source:Nate is a great artist, he's done several of my tattoos so when my daughter wanted her first tradtional tattoo - which Nate has an exceptional talent in - i contacted him and he did a wonderful job! my daughter is thrilled and so proud to show off her new art, and gets tons of compliments. Very nice shop and all 3 artists are very nice and professional.
