Let me start this review by disclosing that I do not have any tattoos. Â However, I feel very confident in giving Aces over Eights a five star yelp rating because I am a local bartender and I see A LOT of tattoos that come from this shop.
Of course I was skeptical about any new shop on town, because being in my line of work, I've seen countless botched tattoos. But, about a year and a half ago, I started getting customers coming in for "liquid courage" and telling me they were on their way to Aces over Eights. Naturally, I asked them to return to the bar afterwards to show me the finished product. Every single tattoo that I have seen come from this shop has been beautiful and very high quality. I have sent many friends and customers to Cody and Jimmy and everyone has thanked me for the recommendation. Their detail work, shading and lines are just incredible. And the shop is always welcoming and clean!
When I decide to finally get some ink, I know I'm going there.
This place is perfect.
My usual tattoo artist recommended I talk to a few artists here about an idea for a tattoo I had. Needless to say I meander over and feel impressed. The receptionist was friendly, the owners dog is a beautiful and friendly one at that, and maybe it's a bi-product of Petaluma's small town charm but the whole place had a very family like feel to it. I make an appointment and go in a few weeks later. My artist I went with was the gifted Cody Holyoak. The whole time he had this finesse about him, there's something great about seeing a man or woman in their proper element doing what they do best, it's even better when what they do best is a service that you get to receive. After a few hours my tattoo came out beautifully and I received many a compliment from patrons going into the shop, fellow artists, and strangers on the street.I love this place and if I wasn't moving out of the county I'd come back here with next years tax return.
I also want to note that another artist Jake had an amazing portfolio and the other artist Jimmy is more then talented enough to be in the same room as these gifted artists. If you want a tattoo done right then make your way over here and book an appointment, you won't regret it.
I needed touch up work on four stars on my back. One needed a color change too. Jake hit the nail on the head with the color purple I wanted and the change from red to purple is flawless it looks the exact same as the other purple star which was originally purple. I went their cause his mom sold me my wedding dress and  he fit me in so my tattoos would be healed by the wedding (even though I could tell he didn't have much room in his schedule). I can't wait to get an original piece. He was very professional, affordable, and clean.
Review Source:I give this parlor five stars, and, I say it's as good as it gets. Â Full disclosure being, this was the first tattoo parlor I have been to, and the first tattoo I have ever had. Â My family had a three generational tattoo done by Cody, and from start to finish, we were all impressed. Â My mother, in her 80's, my daughter, in her 20's and I all got identical tattoos of a classic and old-fashioned image. Â Cody helped us to modify it, enhance it, and make it a true work of art. Â And, our long day with him there at the parlor is one we will never forget. Â He is a kind, generous, and humble artist. Â I would recommend him and his shop highly to all.
Review Source:Amazing tattoo shop hands down. Â It's that easy. Â I had Cody do two tattoos and they are incredible. Â The guy is an amazing artist. Â It's so important that the artist care about what they do, and all three of these guys do. Â They are knowledgable, professional and insanely talented. Â When you get ink done at Aces Over Eights, you're treated like it's personal and important.. because it is. Â I have been to so many shops and easily this is HIGHLY recommended! Â If you have any questions about tattoos or want to check out some high quality work, walk in and see what's up. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
