My husband and I met our friends at American Art Tattoo Studio to watch her husband get a tattoo. My husband had been thinking about getting a tattoo for some time now and decided that he wanted one. By the way this was not his first tattoo. My husband already knew what he had in mind, so he had one of the tattoo artist named Dave draw up the design. Dave then gave my husband the drawing; my husband asked me what I thought about the drawing. I told him that it wasn't symmetrical and that it didn't look right!

The OTHER artist that was tattooing our friend said "If that I was his wife I'd be like FUCK YOU, I'm getting what I want!"  I couldn't even believe what he had said! My girlfriend then stated to the artist that made the rude remark, "Well she is his wife and he did ask for HER opinion so she does have a right to speak her mind, she's the one who has to look at it"  The artist didn't say anything! I was pissed off, and kept my mouth shut!  I couldn't even believe that this is how he talked to customers.  Even if this is a tattoo shop it's still a place of business and he had absolutely no right to speak to me that way!! After that you could cut the tension with a knife, even the other customers that were in the room became quiet. My husband asked Dave if he could make the part that I was talking about symmetrical, Dave didn't say a word and snatched the drawing off the chair. I told my husband we should just leave and that I didn't like the way they were treating us! But Dave had already drawn up the tattoo and my husband already asked him to fix it. Dave clearly was irritated, which I don't know why....a tattoo is for LIFE and we are paying customers, so we should get what we want! We were not trying to piss anyone off! Dave had quoted us $200 for the tattoo, and then after he was asked to re-due it he changed his mind... It was quite obvious that he was irritated, when he asked my husband where he wanted the tattoo. My husband replied, he wanted it on his chest. Dave said that it would be an extra $50 because it's harder to tattoo chests. This makes NO sense to me! I have never heard of an artist charging you more because of where you wanted a tattoo.  My husband is not fat, he is a Marine. I have both of my feet tattooed and have been told that the feet are much harder to do then the chest, and I was NEVER charged more!  So why would he charge an extra $50??? Doesn't make sense! I know the saying "you get what u pay for" but it clearly wasn't a big tattoo!

I then went to the gas station because they only accept cash. The other tattoo artist who had made that sexist and rude comment apologized to my husband and said "He's seen some dumb fucking wives say some stupid shit, and the husband wouldn't  end up getting a  tattoo."   I thought to myself...what a lil bitch, can't apologize to my face? Either way this is NOT how a person or a customer should be treated!

American Art Studio will NOT be getting any of  our business and this is a small city and word will go around about how we were treated!!!!!!

    OVERPRICED, DISRESPECTFUL, & ARROGANT ARTISTS!

**I will say the woman that works there is so sweet, and was a pleasure to be around!

    ***UPDATE:
My husbands tattoo that he got looks awful after it healed...the lines are completely blown out! Wouldn't recommend his work!
