Hair- Anne is great...she takes her time and is actually fun to talk to (I usually hate talking to stylists).

Piercing - got my ears ( first time believe it or not)... Very professional, safe, and clean.  They never got infected. Would definitely use them again for any future piercings

I made an appointment for one nipple piercing. I came in on time but I had to wait an entire hour (even though I was the only person in there) before I was told that they were out of stock of the right bar I needed.  Absolutely outrageous!! Not a happy experience.

So, I made a foolish mistake.

I got my tragus pierced (both) on Venice Beach while I was in California for a month. It was done on a whim, which is SO not like me.  It will be the FIRST and LAST time I do any body modification without doing my research. I paid for it dearly. I am done beating myself about it.

House of Ink (1313 Ocean Front Walk Venice, CA) basically overcharged me, used cheap jewelry- with a butterfly backing, and no instructions on how to care for the piercings. When I walked out I knew I was in trouble. Did I mention the backing of the earring popped out while I was on my way out of Venice?

Ugh... I had to call someone for help (later I learned the extent of the physical damage).

Initially, I contacted Red Hot Tattoo & Piercing in Arcadia about  two days later. They said that their Piercer would not me in for several days. They said I should immediately call Anomaly Body Piercing Studio in Pasadena.

I did. It was my saving grace.

I spoke to Senior Piercer Richard Ivey on the phone. He was so professional, and advise that I come in ASAP. I got there about an hour before they closed.

    Richard was AWESOME.

He was very friendly, and personable. I was so at ease.  After some small talk, Richard gave me the name of a piercer named Lou, that he trusted in Hawthorn, NJ  (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pleasurable.com%2F&s=386bfc50aa42b6842406bb32c48d6fc67620ef7fb5e554f0388af27ed241cb80" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.pleasurable.c…</a>) for additional care, questions, and possible future piercings. Richard knew him from the APP (Association of Professional Piercers) Conference that is held yearly in Las Vegas, NV.

I told him of my previous horrid piercing experience. He spent a good amount of time informing me about the proper way a tragus piercing should proceed, and proper jewelry. Richard was compassionate about how I felt, and was determined to help me, and make certain that I have a "positive" experience.

As Richard guided me to choose and appropriate piece of jewelry, he also shared about their ample selection, what materials it is made out of, how the jewelry is sterilized, and inserted. Some of the jewelry is made on the premises, they can also customize items.

I was extremely pleased with my purchase; a black onyx stud, and another stud that looks like mystic topaz.

The part where he had to switch out my jewelry was extremely painful because the area was already swollen and tender. Omgoodness... it hurt SO much, but I felt no anxiety because I knew I was in good hands. Richard talked to me through the entire process, explaining exactly what was going on, and repeatedly asking me how I was feeling.

Richard also informed me that the jewelry HOI used was inexpensive and mass produced. And, of course a butterfly backing was less than ideal. They also were "off" on the angle of the piercing. He said that it was one of the worst cases he had seen from Venice Beach. He was genuinely sympathetic, and expressed that he did not want THAT experience to ruin any other future ones.

I was in incredible discomfort when it was over, but I was VERY glad I contacted and met Richard. So professional, and knowledgeable. I will be back at Anomaly during my next trip to the west coast. I also will definitely be seeing Lou at Pleasurable in a few months for new jewelry and additional piercings.

Another amazing experience at Anomaly tonight!

I had my microdermal removed for a plethora of (personal) reasons, and although I was extremely and genuinely saddened to be parting with my little friend, the guys made a solemn experience into a memorable one. I was rather anxious walking in without an appointment, and I read some horror stories about the removal process. But they put my worries to rest before the procedure even, and while we were in the back room, they kept the conversation light to distract me. Even so, they asked several times during to check if I was going through any pain. It was only mild discomfort at most, and there wasn't even enough blood that came from the removal to be considered a drop. Aftercare was explained, and I was done! No more than a few minutes. And of course, sterilization was of utmost importance during this procedure.

So in case y'all are wondering...YES! ANOMALY ALSO DOES MICRODERMAL REMOVALS!

Another plus? They've managed to implement a paperless release system! I'm all for saving the trees~~

    Thank you, Richard Ivey!

First off, I want to thank Richard for my super badass industrial ear piercing. Thank you so much! I love it to bits. I had a great piercing experience here, and wouldn't hesitate to come back for future piercings.

It was my 1 year work-iversary on the 19th and I wanted to do something special, and I remembered that I recently purchased a Livingsocial deal for Anomaly. I've actually heard of Anomaly before (which was the reason I bought the Livingsocial deal), and was surprised to find that it was actually really close to my office and where I lived.

A week before the time I wanted my appointment, I called and e-mailed to make an appointment, but didn't hear back from anyone for a few days, so I was really confused (and a little annoyed) as I really wanted to make an appointment on a specific day and let them know I had a Livingsocial deal. However, a few days later I got an e-mail confirmation for my appointment, AND two people called me back to confirm my appointment, apologizing for not getting back to me, as they were away at a conference in Las Vegas. Totally forgivable, and understandable! My appointment was set and I was really excited!

June 19th rolls around, and I show up ~5minutes before my appointment. Once inside, Richard explained a lot of how the whole process works, including aftercare/advice/general information about the piercing. He answered all my questions, including some questions that my friends had as well. He measured my ear, and then showed me the sterilization indicator--he was very professional and serious about sterilization. In general, he was very friendly but professional at the same time, which I truly appreciated. I was very comfortable the entire time (albeit a little nervous). I had to fill out a release form while Richard was cleaning and sterilizing all the equipment. He told me the price of my piercings up front, including the jewelry. With my Livingsocial deal, it came out to $131.75 (before tip). Later on when I was paying, I just made it $150 total. Totally worth it.

In the piercing room, everything Richard did he explained as he was doing them, so we knew exactly what was going on every step. The piercing itself was very well done, executed VERY well. I was told later that there was no bleeding, as his technique was fabulous. I'm not going to lie, it did hurt quite a bit but it was probably standard pain that comes from getting your cartilage pierced twice. Richard explained I could take as much time as I'd like to recover after my piercing, and when I was ready I could get up.

All in all, the entire process and experience was very smooth and I am very happy with my piercing. I've already gotten a lot of compliments on my industrial, and couldn't be happier. Not sure if I'll get another piercing in the very near future (haha), but I would not hesitate to come back here again when I want another one.

Got my helix pierced (although removed) by Brett & he was amazing! He took time to explain the sterilization process and aftercare carefully before starting. The piercing itself didn't hurt that much.
Will definitely come back if I ever decide to get another.

I used to pierce at a custom shop where we made our own jewellery, did specialty work, charged according to quality, and took our time with the clients.  That type of shop is few and far between but it's the kind of shop where I KNOW what I'm going to get, I know that the training and certification is there, and the procedures are modified, as needed for each customer and anatomy.

Anomaly is absolutely the cream of the crop of studios. They know their work and they are extremely personable. Worth every cent. Go.

Got my cartilage piercing done here by Brett on Wed. Definitely a 5-star experience. He took time to explain every detail; he was so sweet and reassuring. I liked that he gave me the total cost of my piercing before he did it so that there was no surprise.
He talked to me throughout the whole piercing process and made me feel comfortable.
Funny moment: during my visit there Brett asked us if we felt any earthquake (I didn't feel anything) and I jokingly asked him, "you're not high are you?"
Later my friend said "didn't you see his tattoo?" Apparently he has "drug-free" tattooed on his knuckles...I'm soo sorry Brett! =p that was kinda insensitive.
I'm not planning to get another piercing because all I've always wanted was 3 on left ear, and 2 on right, and I already have that - BUT if I ever change my mind, Anomaly will be my first choice.

Went in a couple weeks ago for my second and third piercing at Anomaly by Kenny Crespo (It was an industrial piercing). I used their Facebook deal two for one Tuesdays. I've been debating about where to get my industrial piercing for a while, since I moved to Pomona and there was a place near there that was a bit cheaper than anomaly. The reason why I chose anomaly again was for the following reasons: 1) I got my nose pierced there and they did an excellent job. I've been healing very well and have had no issues with it.
    2) I've heard a lot of industrial piercing horror stories, and how fussy it can be. I didn't want to risk going somewhere that I didnt trust and have a bad experience. I knew that at anomaly they would do an extremely sanitary job.

I'm so glad I decided to go back to Anomaly. My piercing has been healing fabulously and I've had no issues with it so far!

Please do yourselves a favor and go here for your piercing needs. They are very sanitary, have a nice jewelry selection and are experienced. I've always felt my questions and needs were met when I went here and I wouldn't hesitate to go back for my future piercings :)

I hate to give my favorite piercing studio 2 stars, BUT:
I come here about once a year for various updates and have never had anything but 5 star service, until yesterday.  My main issues were that normally they show me that all of the items are sterilized, and this time they did not.  I didn't even realize that until I left, I was so used to it being a part of their routine.  I am assuming that the expanders and jewelry were, but normally I am in a chair and can see this and they explain it.  This time I was laying on a table and it was not explained.  Secondly, no after care was discussed.  Granted, I was only getting expansions, my first, but not a word was said about what to expect and how to care for it, and again I have come to expect that.  The piercing/expanding process was fine, though they had a lot of trouble doing it, he kept reminding me to breathe and asked if I was doing ok.  So those two reasons will cause me to seek out other shops when it is time to pierce again.

I went in yesterday because my tragus piercings were acting up. I didnt get the piercing done at this shop, but it was the closet piercing place so I went to get advice. The workers were cool, said the jewelry that was in was probably the cause of the trouble. The show me their jewelry. Titanium w a flat back $60 each. A lot of $$, but I figured worth it. They also told me I should use their cleaner & spray. All said and done I get handed a bill for $185. WTF. There were fees to put in the jewelry they NEVER mentioned... Also i wanted a new nose stud. I didn't like it when they put it in, still had to buy it. Seriously complete bs. I will never go there again or recommend it.

BRETT KNOWS HIS STUFF!! I have been doing lots of research about VCH piercings probably for over two years because I have heard crazy stories of botched piercings and did not want anyone messing up on a piercing (down south) I was looking for someone who knew what they were doing and that had tons of experiance with this piercing. Thank goodness I found Anomaly! I drove from Granada Hills just to get pierced by Brett. I had set up an appointment online and within 10 minutes I recieved a confirmation. The shop was clean and artsy. Brett was waiting in the front and was very kind and welcoming. He explained EVERYTHING to me and made me feel at ease. The piercing itself did hurt like hell but just for three seconds and the pain was gone. Right after I got up walked around and it felt comfortable. The piercing is perfectly placed and it has been two days since I have gotten it and no pain no sworeness, nothing! I love love love my VCH piercing and will be back to visit Brett again very soon. He has a customer for life :) Thanks Brett!

I have been wanting to get an ear/cartilage piercing for a while now and i finally got the guts to go and actually do it.

What i decided on getting pierced was my rook. Now at first i was like "maybe i shouldn't" "what if it gets infected" "what if it's too expensive" etc... I went in, the guy who in the front Brett was very nice, he was super funny so that calmed my nerves down a bit. Secondly he answered all of my questions as in "how much would it be, what kind of jewelry is for the rook, how painful." He made me feel so much  better about getting this done. He joked around too and making me laugh was a definite good thing! He then gave me a lesson (while Kenny my piercer was sterilizing everything) on genital piercings. An interesting topic but definitely not for me at all! That's too crazy for me and i'm pretty crazy (at least i think i am). I'm glad we were talking, i was getting nervous so him talking to me definitely help me relaxed.

Now, Kenny was really nice! So nice that i gave him $20 tip. He told me what he was doing while he was doing. The cleaning the marking and then cleaning it again. He told me to relax that it wasn't going to be as bad as i was making it to be. So he was just making small talk about school and what i wanted to do and the reason why i getting the piercing done. I was simply doing something for me :)

I honestly thought that it was going to hurt a lot but it felt like getting pinched in the ear with some pressure. Not painful at all!

Overall, i am in love with my piercing and will be definitely be coming back to this place for my other rook and maybe a helix piercing!  i love it!
Price of this was $73.60 but i'm telling you it's worth it because they take the time to sterilize everything and walk you through on what you should and not do. Worth it 100%

I definitely recommend that you go here for any type of piercings!

This is my first Yelp review because Anomaly Studios saved my piercing today!

I'm not very experienced with piercings. My cartilage piercing (which I got in high school out of spontaneity) never properly healed. I've been neglecting it ever since. I had replaced the earring with a thinner one thinking it would heal better (worst idea ever). The loop would always open because it was so thin. It was always painful to touch -- so I finally decided to do something about this.

Looked up "best piercing place" in Pasadena & came across this place. My original plan was just to come in for advice. I first talked to Kenneth, he was very nice & told me that my earring was stuck while the cartilage healed around it (that's not cool). Then I was introduced to Brett, who started to clean around it & said the earring was actually tearing my cartilage like how a wire would cut cheese (haha). So yeah, at this point I was panicking.

Brett told me I could either go home, or take it out now & feel a lot better. He wasn't even going to charge me for taking it out because he just didn't want me to be in pain anymore! You rarely see this kind of kindness nowadays.

After asking 100 questions, which they answered -- I finally decided to take the earring out. They were very patient with me by communicating every step of the way (I'm a panicky person). Brett made the whole process easy & as pain-free as possible. In addition to taking it out, I felt confident enough to have a new one put in.

I came in wanting to ask for advice about an irritated cartilage piercing & went home happily with a pretty earring! It feels a lot better already & doesn't hurt to touch anymore (which I'm not even suppose to be doing).

I'm coming back in two weeks to make sure everything is fine. Thank you Anomaly Studios!

I visited the shop earlier today and had a terrible experience. I wanted a quality stud for an existing piercing, and expected it to be easy and at least somewhat comfortable. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Nicholas was 'helping' me, and he was very condescending when discussing prices of different studs, and repeatedly called me 'sweetie'. I'm not able to spend a lot of money right now, and I understand that that can be frustrating for a salesperson, but his patronizing behavior ensured that I will never go back. I don't waltz into piercing studios making assumptions of the staff and other customers, and I truly do not appreciate the blatant sexism and condescension that I experienced today.
That being said, after complaining to the owner via email he responded quickly and very respectfully and was ready to right the wrong immediately. I won't return to the shop but I do appreciate the owner's willingness to help out.

This is a long overdue review for Anomaly Studio.  It was my first time getting piercing, and everyone here was very nice and patient with me.  They have outstanding instrument sterilization method (and I work in a hospital).  Kenneth, my piercer, explained every single thing he did, and even helped me relax during the piercing (through breathing technique).  I 'll definitely go there again, soon.

I got my second nose piercing at Anomaly about 2 years ago and had a perfectly pleasant experience.  I can't remember the guy that did it but he was super professional, didn't put out a creeper vibe to my friend and I (which is something I've encountered before when getting pierced or accompanying others).  He even cracked a couple of jokes and let me tell you even though a nose piercing isn't that big of a deal, having a tech that makes you feel relaxed is a major blessing.  I've been considering getting a nipple piercing here and was wondering if anyone had anything to say about their experience in relation to a nipple piercing at anomaly?  Thanks!

Brett is so awesome! I got my other conch pierced... and I just have painful memories from my other conch being done. Mostly because the last piercer didn't have a good flow when he was piercing me. Brett made sure I was relaxed before anything else and the piercing wasn't too painful at all. Brett has skill.  the shop is clean and has an awesome atmosphere. get pierced!

I went to Anomaly few days ago, found out that their piercer is out of town. So the owner Dustin told me to come back few days later and gave me $10 off discount. Here I am, came back today and got my cartilage pierced.

Kenneth was my piercer, though I was expecting Brett. Anyway, Kenneth actually was really considerate and nice. He went over the process, sterilized all the tools and jewelry, and  explained the after care with me. Before piercing, he talked to me and tried to make me more comfortable (I was super nervous). It didn't really hurt actually. You won't hear any sound like gun "piercing" would have.

Plus, Anomaly is really green, which means you will get your receipt in your email. If you want to tip when paying with credit card, you are going to tell them the amount that you are going to tip. If you want to avoid that situation, don't forget to  bring cash. I paid total $75 for labor+jewelry.

I saved the review until I went to Body Electric last weekend. Comparing these two high-rated piercing store, I recommend Anomaly. It was painless, relaxing (they talk to you and get you distracted from the needle). The most important thing was that they show you the sterilization process and explained the instructions and after care!

P.S. Dustin told me the rule of thumb: good piercing shop does not do tattoo, and good tattoo place does not do piercing. I did not believe at first, but now I can tell you it is true!

I'm actually from Utah, and while visiting family in CA a couple of months ago I found Anomaly through Yelp. The ratings were good, the pictures were clean, so I decided to dive right in and give it a go.

I am very, very pleased with how my experience went. I am not an super-wuss, however I was very nervous. Going into a piercing/tattoo shop always makes me a bit nervous, but once I went into the private room with Brett, I felt at ease. He was very kind, very mellow, and funny. He explained everything in great detail, and answered my questions fully. I felt like I knew exactly what to expect before I even got pierced. He made me feel relaxed and comfortable (thank you!!) and when it comes time that I've saved up enough money to get my other nip pierced, I will go back without hesitation.

I have had my belly button, ears, cartilage and nose done from various other piercers (both in CA and UT) and this particular piercing done by Brett has blown me away. It was one of the least painful and has healed the fastest. Highly recommended.

    Thank you!

If you are looking for a super low key place to get your hair done, look no further.  Anomaly is simply the best kept secret for hair. And Rai is one of the most talented hair dressers in Pasadena...hands down.  His cuts are nothing short of perfect.  Sadly for him 5 months later, my cut still looks kick ass!  Moral of the story...if you want personalized service from a joint that hires the coolest people on the planet, give Anomaly a try...but don't tell too many people...I'd like to keep it as the best kept secret!

I have received 4 dermal piercings and 2 navel piercings from Anomaly. I did have an awful experience with Steven or Stephen, he no longer works there. Squeeze decided that after I arrived at the shop he couldn't make it to do my third and fourth dermal piercings. I figured that the piercers at the shop were all professionals so I let Stephen try and it was a mistake to say the least. He couldn't get the jewelry in and tried to force it in numerous times. Now I have a keliod on the center of my chest that I must get removed by a plastic surgeon. Besides that, I miss Squeeze and absolutely adore the jewelry. Besides THAT experience I LOVE Anomaly.

I have nothing but good things to say about this shop.  I first contacted this establishment through e-mail.  Within 24 hours, I was given a very detailed response from Brett answering all my questions.  A couple days later I made to phone call to see if an appointment was necessary.  I was greeted in a very courteous and professional manner.  Appointments are not mandatory, but I figured I'd give a rough estimation time on when I'd get there since it's a high traffic area.

I went into the shop the next day to meet with my piercer, Monique.  She greeted me and immediately knew I was in to get my lip pierced as I had discussed over the phone.  She showed me the choices of jewelry I could select from, and went through a lengthy explanation of the sterilization and aftercare process.  To say this place is clean is an understatement.  It's amazingly sterile and they take their job very seriously and know their stuff well.  As well as they should!  Too many places take liberties with being clean, but not this place.  Not to mention, the shop has an amazing display of awesome art.  Some isn't for the weak of heart, but art is never meant to be censored.

The actual piercing was done in a closed off room for privacy.  Monique took extra time to make sure the equipment was sterilized by autoclave (which they have you initial the paper-strip test beforehand so you know it's clean), wash her hands thoroughly, have proper gloves, and clean my "to-be-pierced" lip area.  The whole while, Monique was very polite, funny, and talkative, keeping my mind off of being nervous about my first piercing.  The piercing itself was practically painless and was a shorter amount of time than all the preparation beforehand.  That is not a bad thing, in fact, that is a very, VERY good thing.

I'm completely happy with my piercing and if I ever do get anything else pierced in the future, it will be with Anomaly, no questions asked.  If you're close by in the area, or are within reasonable driving distance and hold sanitary rituals as something sacred, then do yourself a favor and have your piercings done here.  And ask for Monique!  She's great!

Okay... so my first review of Anomaly was, by far, NOT the greatest. HOWEVER... Brett, who works at Anomaly, commented my review and I thought that that was VERY professional of him.(Yes, I am just now(6 months later) reading his comment lol)

I regret not mentioning in my first review that I did NOT go to the famous Pasadena location; I went to the Echo Park/Silverlake location...That was MY mistake.

I am very impressed with the fact that, instead of chewing me out, Brett took the time to appologize.

I am actually considering giving Anomaly another try... this time,...my philtrum =)

I've been going to Anomaly for a few years now (before it moved to its current location) and I probably wouldn't go anywhere else. They know what they're talking about, plain and simple.

If they don't think its a good idea, they aren't afraid to tell you, some shops won't care because its just about the money rather than the customer, that definitely isn't the case here.

Wide variety of jewelery and great customer service. Some might think their prices are higher than most, but when it comes to getting pierced, you definitely get what you pay for here.

    Ask for Monique ;)

About two weeks ago I was searching on Yelp for a hair salon. I came across Anomaly, and wrote it down as a possibility. I mentioned it to my mom, stating that it was a hair salon and pierce shop. We were in the area, and my mom said she wanted to check it out.

So I said, yeah, sure. I was thinking of adding a plain ear piercing to each ear (because I can't choose between dangling and stud earrings, so I want both). We went inside and asked the woman about their smallest size.

They were out, and she suggested a larger size. It got me kind of worried, so I said we'd think about it. She gave us a card and told us she'd be getting some soon, and to call sometime later in the week.

We said goodbye and we left, and I gave up on the whole idea.

That is, until my mom wanted to get her ears pierced too. But she wanted me to get mine first. Now, honestly, I was too chicken, so I said no. And when we drove around the block, I said no. But then she parked and I said fine. I gave up fighting against it (a bad idea, I guess) and we went inside to ask if they'd squeeze us in before they closed. It was 10:45 and they close at 11:00.

The girl behind the counter said sure, and we filled out the paperwork while the woman to be piercing us sterilized the jewelry. So then the counter-girl explained their sanitizing procedures and asked us if we had any questions.

We said no, but I was antsy and a bit angry. I was a bit frightened, I had never gotten a piercing like this before. I mean, I had some from being a kid and one from Claire's a few years ago, but this was a whole different thing. This was the real deal. I think I almost peed my pants. But I calmed down with the cool music (They were playing The Strokes and The Kooks and some Interpol), the interesting clothes, and art displayed. The art wasn't my cup of tea (I think I saw a fetus in a jar), but it wasn't horrifying or too vulgar. It was very cool, and didn't make me or my mother keyed up.

But they walked us through it and we went into this small room while the woman sanitized the seat and washed her hands, put on her face mask and gloves, and set to do the piercing. She was very nice and sweet, and I wasn't intimidated or worried about talking to her. I told her that I was afraid of it being painful, and that this was somewhat new to me.

We explained to her that we had come in before, and that I had chickened out, but that I was going through with this because my mom wanted us to get pierced together. She asked me to pin my hair back, which was a hassle, but it was soon solved and we set to my jewelry.

I was to go first, so she prepped my ear and asked me to relax. She breathed deep breaths with me, and then made sure the ring was on tightly. She tried not to scare me about the bleeding, and even after she dropped some gauze, she made sure not to freak me out and keep everything sanitized.

As soon as my mom was done (the woman sanitized everything and washed her hands and prepped again after I was finished), we went to pay and thanked everyone for being so kind. We promised to come back, and they locked the door behind us, as we were the last to leave.

Will I go back? Sure. Will I be frightened? Yes. I probably always will be. But was it worthwhile? Hell yes! It was awesome. And I recommend this place to anyone... Because these people are serious and genuine and kind. A summary of what their card says: "Piercing is not a fad, for us- it's a lifestyle, a culture."

I hope my mom doesn't read this, cuz there may be blood in the water soon after.

Me and Anomaly hooked up on Wednesday night. I am a virgin (of piercing) no longer.

I had been referred to them by a friend and wanted to get my septum pierced for my birthday. I wanted to go to the best, and Yelp helped confirm. I drove 353 miles down from the bay area that day and they took me right in just before closing time. ... Explained everything well and hooked me up with a a nice piece of jewelry.

Monique pierced me in a sweet and sterile ritual.

Glad I went. ...Sorry mom, its a centuries old tradition.

I recently pierced a body part and was very satisfied with the result until I arrived in LA. The area was swollen and would be tender to the touch, and I assumed it was because I was not resting my body. After driving to SF and Palm Springs, it took a toll on my body. But as the pain was progressing, I looked up Yelp and found a piercer in the area I would be in.

I called the day before asking if it'd be okay to have someone check me out despite the fact that I wasn't pierced at Anomaly, and was told yes, without hesitation. I wasn't in Honolulu to have it looked at and location wise Anomaly fit it perfectly. As I walked in the parlor I was greeted by one of the workers. I mentioned that I called yesterday, and he recognized my voice and introduced me to Brett, who is the piercer.

As I was telling him my life story with the piercing, he suggested the pressure and stress from traveling could have caused it to swell, but also the bar inserted was quite short. I told him it was a bit uncomfortable and asked if I could get a longer bar put in. He then showed me the new piercing. He was touching it with his bare hands and told me that he will sanitize the piercing to ensure it being hygienic.

I paid 30 dollars for the jewelry and 5 dollars for the labor fee. I'm so happy with how the parlor is run and with their service. I docked it a star as it's a bit scary in there; they have a fetus split head down in a frying pan and a head of Linda Blair circa The Exorcist. But if you need a piercing, I'd recommend Brett for his service.

I can't stop smiling! I love my hair. I can't say enough good stuff about my hair cut and the service. The entire staff was so helpful and welcoming.

I have long, dry, curly/frizzy, over-processed unmanageable hair and I am very picky about how my hair is cut. I get anxiety about cutting my hair, but Anne made me feel very comfortable. She explained everything she was doing so I didn't have any unwelcome surprises. She listened to what I wanted and didn't take any liberties without my consent.  She really respected the fact that I wanted my hair left long and gave me the most stylish bangs. Anne spent so much time deep conditioning and precisely cutting my hair, I was amazed at the attention I was getting. You can tell she really loves her job and has respect for her craft.

I look forward to getting my hair cut here again.

Very professional, informative, courteous, sanitary and good selection of jewelry.

Long gone are the days of piercing guns, rubbing alcohol and constant twisting as a healing process.

Ever since I got my navel and nostril (both sadly out now :/) pierced at Anomaly, I don't even bother looking anywhere else to get my future piercings.

I read the other reviews about how Anomaly was in trouble, and that got me REALLY worried, especially when I called during supposed business hours, and all I got was a recording!

But Heaven sent a beam of light down on me, because when I called yesterday, they were miraculously open! They remodeled and MOVED location onto Colorado blvd. across the street from the Target that is next to Canterbury Records/Laemmle's/Vroman's.  I literally went opening day of their new shop, so I got a nice douse of dry wall dust all over my clothes.  Hey, that's cool, as long as it doesn't get into my fresh, new piercing then I'm good.

I got pierced by Brett, and I have to say, the guy is amazing.  He is the most senior piercer there, and I happened to talk to him on the phone for a consultation/price quote for a piercing.  When I finally went to meet with him, he made me feel very at ease with the whole procedure.  He was very personable, professional, and was genuinely concerned with my happiness and comfort level before, during, and after the piercing.  What a wonderful man!

The jewelry they have is all internally threaded, so be ready to pay anywhere from $35 for a standard, stainless steel piece to $85 if you want gemstones (this price range is for a 12g curved barbell).  If you want something fancy, like semi precious stones set in 14k gold or platinum, get ready to throw down $250+ for the items.  Yikes, I know, but internally threaded jewelry is so much better for your piercings, so even though I complain and balk at first when hearing the price, I always give in.

Since they just opened, they're still working out a few kinks, but they are definitely ready and willing to pierce!  Also, they have this new system where they charge your credit card online, so they send a receipt to your email inbox.  This means you don't have a standard receipt where you can write in a tip.  Therefore, make sure to bring some CASH the next time you come in for service!

***SPECIAL - Anomaly is giving $15 off all piercings until the end of November.  If that's not incentive enough to get a needle jabbed through your flesh . . . I don't know what is!!!

I'm soooo happy I found this place on Yelp! Actually, I officially joined Yelp today after lurking for a few years, just so I could write about my great experience here :)

I came here to pierce my tongue. The place was very clean and lovely. The manager was there and he was super nice and professional. He explained the whole process thoroughly as I was waiting for the piercer to be done with other customers. My piercer was also really nice and professional. He sat me down and made sure to consult with me so that I would be comfortable with the placement and everything. The actual piercing hurt, but I expected it and knew that no one could have done it better. I wish I could remember his name.. I'll edit w/his name later.

Anyway, it's been exactly a week and I have had ZERO problems with my piercing. I'm going to go downsize the bar in a few days. The only thing is.. I wasn't aware of a student discount?! Why didn't they offer me a student discount?! Maybe they didn't know I was a student. Whatever. It cost around $57 ish for the jewelry, service, and tax, so with the tip I paid $70.

I recommend this place to anyone and everyone who wants to get any part of their body pierced because it is clean, reasonably priced, and professional.

i've been getting pierced here for at least 3 years now. the staff is really friendly and knowledgeable. they take professional piercing, sanitation, and aftercare VERY seriously, and rightly so! my sister and i found their shop through a random google search, and were lucky we did! since then, i've been a lot more aware of the importance of professional piercing and proper jewelry. it's just better for your body.

piercings take place inside a small and private room, away from the main waiting area. the space is decorated nicely. there are plenty of magazines and even a chess game in the waiting area, as the wait can get long at times.

i've heard about anomaly's current situation, which makes me sad. i still have plans to get more piercings in the future, but haven't had the money to do so for a long time. i've been wanting to get my ears stretched some more soon, so hopefully they'll still be around when i go! :(

oh and yes, anomaly also has a hair studio upstairs. i don't know what the current situation is, but ray is really friendly, warm, and funny! he helped me achieve my dream of having bright red hair, which is a huge feat for my naturally black asian hair. we managed it regularly for 4 months before i decided to stop cause my hair couldn't take it anymore. i've gotten my hair cut there too, but the results were ok. i think it's better to get your hair colored there, as i was never disappointed with that.

again, i don't know if the salon is still there or not, but if it is, it's worth checking out!

I just got home from getting my ears pierced by Stephen at Anomaly Studios. I am thoroughly impressed with Stephen. He explained the sterilization process and all that good stuff. The procedure was virtually painless. I hate pain. So I was very nervous. Now I feel like a dope for not doing this sooner. I highly recommend Anomaly over a Claire's any day!

I went back for another round of piercing fun (I think I'm addicted) and was yet again impressed by Anomaly!  This time, I was pierced by the owner Sque3z (who has the cutest Boston terrier by the way) and he did a great job.  Again, he was meticulous about hygiene and sterilization, and he made me feel comfortable.  This was really important for today, because of this particular piercing and because I went alone.  The piercing itself was nice and quick, just a sharp pinch.  I'm very pleased with it already.  I know Anomaly is getting hit hard by the economic crisis, so please stop by!  I am now a repeat customer and if I need anything else done, I will be happy to return!  BEST PIERCERS IN LA!  Student Discount!

** ANOMALY NEEDS YOUR HELP! **

For those of you who aren't aware, Anomaly is being hit extremely hard by the economic crisis right now. I found out from the owner the other day that my usual piercer, Stephen, will be moving to Santa Cruz in search of a better job. Sque3z and Tyler are trying to hold up shop but they're literally playing it by ear right now. There's not enough business coming in to support Anomaly any longer. If this keeps up, Anomaly may not be around in three or four weeks.

If you or any friends have any piercings that you've been wanting to get, now's the time! Sque3z is offering lowered prices and he's been meaning to post specials (his internet is down). Show Anomaly your love and support! GO GET PIERCED AND LEAVE FAT TIPS!

Take a pushpin-pierced enthusiast or a scared neice for her first ear piercing. You will be taken through every facet of the sanitation, piercing method, and after care. I'd trust them with anything, maybe a Prince Albert  for you boys out there? Well you can't go wrong with any employee or service offered here. Prince Albert or not, you'll leave feeling like body modification royalty.

First off, hats off to the workers and piercers of Anomaly Studios.

Amazing. I've had my ears pierced, just a regular ear lob about 4 times in my life. They've all become so badly infected that by the 4th time, I had to have surgery to remove the bad infection. What can I say? My epidermis is a spoiled princess.

So after many many many..oh god...many years of living in fear and having the teen prom queen at Claire's snicker at me for buying clip ons, I happened upon this little gem in the buttcrack of Pasadena when my friends were looking for a late night stab and go for their noses. Stephen came to my prickly rescue and very carefully explained why my other piercings went wrong and convinced me to try it one more time. He made the whole experience very calming and soothing and I was able to come back to him several times after my ear...once more...bitched out on me. No..no..no not Stephen's fault, he was truly surprised, but he took great concern in my infection and was able to help remedy some treatments to stop the bleeding and the inflaming. Yay burning puss ears! Attractive.

Wonderfully, with the help of my piercer and dedication, my ears are doing fine, and I am rocking those hopped ear rings and no longer must I have to face down those confused stares from pimply Claire's clerks. Yes I am as holy as you. =)

Which made me come back for a nose job. Ha! I recommend Eric Squeeze for any newcomers, as much as I love Stephen, Squeeze is the man. He will seduce you to not once ever noticing you were poked and prodded. BTW he also was the one who opened up Prix.

Keep this place alive guys, and stop on by for a hole or two. You'll get the BEST customer service of your life....seriously, can't find that in a restaurant.

This place is AWESOME.  I've been to 4-5 other piercing places in LA, and this is by FAR the best and my favorite.

I had walked in a while back to check out prices and jewelry, and ended up chatting with the countergirl for a while.  When I came back to get pierced a few weeks later, she totally remembered me and asked me about my dance classes and if I was gonna get my eyebrow pierced.  Treatment like that is really great, especially since the last place I went (Vintage), the piercer didn't even remember me a couple weeks later and looked like he was stoned.

Even though, I've been pierced before.  They took me step-by-step through the entire process from the sterilization process for the jewelry through the piercing (practically teaching me how to do it) to aftercare.  It was a great experience.  I was totally comfortable the entire time.  Tyler (my piercer) told me that piercing my eyebrow might hurt, but he's a liar - because it was totally painless.  He's the only person I'll trust with my piercings in the future (or anyone at Anomaly really).

Seriously, do yourself a favor and get pierced here.

I was referred to Anomaly by a friend. When I went in, Sque3ze was great about answering my questions. When it came time for the piercings he was very calming and professional. I've been back several times since my first visit. And the guys there are always friendly.

    So, here's the thing...

If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

I had heard quite a few word of mouth reviews of Anomaly  before actually visiting. I must say, even friends who have been to Anomaly didn't do the shop justice, and while I'm simply not eloquent enough to do them justice either, just visit the boys at the shop and you'll be fucking happy you did.

The shop is fantastically clean, the piercers(Sque3ze, Stephen, and Tyler) all are APP certified, and have fantastic "bedside" manner. I've been poked, punched, and scalpeled at Anom and wouldn't trust my piercing needs with any other shop.

The boys are patient, more than knowledgeable about everything, from jewelry selection, to after care, hell, after shooting the shit with the Anom crew, you know these boys mean business.

The prices are beyond reasonable, and you can expect quality jewelry,  the atmosphere is welcoming, and there isn't a smug or rude piercer in the joint, these boys have put in the time, so why not let them help you with all your piercing needs.

Parking is ample, stay and hang if you like, don't get sucked into checkers, you might be there for awhile. And as always, don't forget to tip your piercers well.

Are these reviews bogus?  I've been in there 3 times and every time I've been treated like a third rate customer.  The first time I was there was to get a cartilage piercing in my ears.  It got very badly infected and I went in a few times for advice, and both times they acted like it was my fault they were infected.  I eventually took the piercing out.

Just last week, I went in there to get new jewelry for another piercing I now have.  I walked in and there were two customers ahead of me.  The man I recognize as the owner was photocopying some IDs so I went to the counter and stood there for a minute while he ignored me.  I finally said hello, and asked if they had the piece I was looking for.  His reply was "I think we can help you with that".  And that was all.  I waited for about 5 minutes for him to tell me, 'just a moment', or 'ill be with you after I do this or that', or 'take a look around and then I'll be with you', 'it's gonna be a half hour before I can get to you'.  But he didn't give me the courtesy of telling me anything.  So I just left.  I wonder if they treat all their customers like that or just me.

I should have known better than to go in there again.  I've never had a single good experience there - and the one stupid piercing I got there got infected.  I've had better experience at  Old Town Tatoo of all places.  But I highly recommend In the Skin on North Lake, and Red Hot Tattoo in Arcadia (if you get helped by the owner).

When visiting Stephen (one of the 3 piercers) at Anomaly myself and boyfriend spent some time at the this shop. We love Stephen and this shop.

I myself had Sque3z drop a dermal anchor in my chest and with all my nerves everyone in the shop made sure I was comfortable and walked me through the whole process.

I would recommend this shop to anyone that is looking to have people really care about you as you walk through the door. Sque3z, Tyler, & Stephen are the 3 nicest guys and treat everyone with the utmost respect and will make sure your  comfortable through the whole process. The shop is clean and everyone involved cares about what they are doing.

Not only do they pierce but if you already have an existing piercing their jewelry selection is amazing!

I love these guys and would recommend them to my friends and my enemies because everyone should have quality work done and these guys will go above and beyond to do that for you.
