I went to basement ink twice in 2012, in march and april. Two seperate, tiny tattoos.

The price was right, but my artist (both times) was not so great.
Melissa (not sure if she's still there, like I said, I went in 2012) did a fantastic job on my lettering for a small wrist tattoo. Just gorgeous, and quick. However, on my small pin-up... it became obvious that this was not a strong suit. I brought in an idea for a design, and she drew it up. Mind you, this was my first tattoo, and I thought it looked great, on paper. She is missing one leg, one of her eyes is literally popping out of her head, and overall it was just a poorly executed tattoo. I will be getting it fixed at Electric Land.

The owner's work is superb, if you choose to go to basement ink, call ahead, and make an appointment with him. Run far and fast if you're a walk in and only Melissa is available, unless you just want lettering.

overall: pricing, fantastic. Artistry: be careful.

I went to the Basement Ink to get a tattoo on my wife's birthday some years ago.  I went there as the owner Stacey told me to stop in some time.  When I went there she was no where to be found, and from what I understand was rarely there. I asked a young black guy to assist me and he was eager to do so.  I have 7 previous tattoos and know a thing or two about what I've experienced.  The gentleman quoted me a price of $315 for a small arm band and a name, my wife's name.  I thought this was high but since it was the day of my wife's birthday, I felt I had little choice.  I procrastinated and knew to go somewhere else was not happening.  The gentleman seemed competent, but I was wrong.  He rushed the work and the next day I noticed he did not color in the tattoo properly.  I had to go back a few days later to get it filled in and was told the guy no longer worked there.  Would not recommend this place.

Koz is absolutley amazing! I get all of my piercings here now! I used to go to other shops and have some horror storys under my sleeve from that. Koz is awesome. 100% completley sterile, friendly. Exsplains everything to a tee from everything about the piercing, what hes going to do, and after care. I wouldnt and will not ever go anywhere else!

We went to The Basement Ink on Sunday 10/31/2010, my sons 18th birthday.  He had been wanting to get a tattoo for several years, but as his father, I made him wait until he was of legal age.  Our experience there proved to be great.  Jackie, the artist who did the work on my son was very friendly.  She took some of the drawings my son had brought, and from them designed a tattoo that he really liked.  The actual process of doing the tattoo went great, and the detail she added was fantastic.

We had very little wait time, so my wife decided to get a tattoo as well.  She chose a fairy that we found on the internet.  Rick, the owner of the establishment did some detail changes to it, and once again, Jackie did a fantastic job of applying it.

Overall our experience with The Basement Ink was great.  The people who worked there were really nice.  We will definately be going back there in the future!
