After visiting many local shops back home in Seattle, I found Blue Tiki and Uncle Tim in the beautiful town of Hanalei. The moment my wife and I walked in we were excited about getting work done there. We both wanted turtles (of course), he drew one up custom for my wife, and Jesse drew one up for me, that incorporated my terminally ill nephews initials. Pics will soon follow, they both turned out amazing! Then he pierced my wife's nose in a painless and quick fashion. If your on the island of Kauai do not go anywhere else. Great prices, great music playing to keep you relaxed, amazing work! Pics to soon follow! Thanks Guys!
Review Source:Donald "Uncle Tim" H. Thinks that its ok to permanently put a crappy tattoo on your body and your not suppose to complain? He has got a lot of nerve. Hes amazing. Shortly after I wrote my review the guy has the nerve to text me. Scary. On the verge of stalking me now.Bad enough I have his ink on my arm as a reminder. Donald. If you are reading this. I'm not a jerk who would "kick a puppy". But Im glad you're not the puppy. I asked you to move on. I would hope that you would now. You need to accept the fact that you really did a terrible job on my arm. In your line of work you should accept criticism. You did not try and talk me out of doing it nor did I insist that you do the work like you say. A lie. Quit whining already. Move on. Learn to accept your mistakes. But most importantly learn to apologize when you do make them. You would be a better person for doing so. Peace. As you say.
Review Source:We made an appt. our final day on Kauai, made reservation, paid deposit, gave artwork of a turtle, Â just like the website suggested.....reservation and final day. We showed up and they gave a couple excuses but in the end they had people already being done, claimed he was moving and had not drawn up the tattoo from our artwork, they checked the schedule and there we were in "ink" on the calendar. Â They asked if we could come back another day.... And when we asked for our deposit back the owners comment was " I am sorry you had such high expectations". Our expectation was a tattoo at the time we reserved.
Review Source:Got an amazing piece of work done yesterday by Tim. Â The entire experience was awesome. Â I like to think I am very critical of anything I am going to put on my body...forever. Â I have many pieces of art already, and I am honored to add one of Uncle Tim's sugar skulls to my collection. Â Not only did I end up with beautiful piece of art, the time spent with Tim talking, and trading stories was great as well. Â If you are ever visiting Hanalei, make sure to visit Blue Tiki while your there.
Review Source:Blue Tiki tattoo is awesome, Uncle Tim is the boss. The people complaining about Tim being rough around the edges are ridiculous. Â It's a tattoo shop not a f'n boutique. Tim is an amazing artist and tattoo stud. You gotta love his personality and stories. The man has traveled the world. Get in soon before he moves back to Cali.
Review Source:Uncle Tim is an old school pro; he cares about the art and craft and science of tattooing. He's one of the tattooists out there fighting for quality and training in the industry.
He's the real deal.
This is my favorite shop on Kauai, and one of my favorites anywhere in the islands; when Uncle Tim tattooed me, it was a completely positive experience. To be sure, he comes off as a bit of a madman/pirate, but that's part of the  experience. The crusty/curmudgeonly attitude is part of fun of getting an 'uncle tim special' tattoo.
The tattoos I got from him (rooster/hog on my feet) are my favorite of my (many) tattoos; Tim understood exactly what I wanted.
I'd recommend Tim and Blue Tiki without reservation.
I got a rec for this place from one of the galley slaves on our catamaran ride, and I wanted to get a small second tattoo anyway. Uncle Tim did a great job on it, and also provided excellent conversation for me and my boyfriend during the inking. The artwork in the books was phenomenal, so pretty much anything you want, they'll do.
Review Source:I got my first Tattoo in December. Uncle Tim was really good at putting his clients at ease. ( 2 other people had work done from our group). He gave me a lot of good information. Helped redesign the art I wanted done, and gave me exactly what I asked for. Love my new Tattoo. My kids thought it was crazy but I will go back and get more work done At the Blue Tiki. Thanks Tim!!!
Review Source:Tattoo artists come in all shapes, sizes, and temperaments and talent ... the latter being really the only thing that should matter when putting something permanent on your body.
Uncle Tim is an authority on old school tattoos and lettering, and pretty great at everything else. He's fabulously rough around the edges, and harshly charming. He was proclaiming for a large part of the appointment how everybody should get a big cock from Uncle Tim in Kauai. I was asking for it getting a rooster tattooed on my foot.
SO ...
If the tattoo mood strikes while you are in Kauai ... Go see Uncle Tim.
Unless of course the shop closer to you hotel is cheaper ... then go see them, cause your business isnt welcome. You get what you pay for and it's not like hes making you a cheeseburger.
I couldn't be happier with my tattoo. Thanks Uncle Tim ... you will see me again.
Husband and I came here on a whim, on our anniversary trip to Kauai. It was a little hard to find because its actually in the back of the little "village" strip mall, but we did find it! Looked clean (and was air conditioned!), they had a good amount of samples and books to look through. Reason I'm giving 3 stars is because, I have experienced better. You know how some tat artists seem to have a chip on their shoulder? Well Uncle Tim came off as one of those. He made some rude comments while we were there. I really think this is his personality though, maybe once you get to know him, he's not so tough. He was supposed to do both of ours but when we came back for the appointment Lance ended up doing them (which I was actually happy about) because Lance was MUCH MORE FRIENDLY. No, you don't have to be friendly to be a tattoo artist, but if you want a tip, return customers and a good review, you should be nicer. Tim is good at what he does, from what I saw so I wouldn't worry about getting a crappy tattoo, its just really the attitude. Lance was cool, a little slow, but did a good job.
