I LOVE Brass City Tattoo.  I've only been tattooed there once so far, but I plan on going back a lot in the future.  I have a lot of tattoos, and have been too a lot of tattoo shops.  Brass City Tattoo is one of the nicest shops I have ever been in.  It's clean, really nicely decorated and they have private rooms.  The staff there is friendly and I didn't get an attitude like you sometimes will in a tattoo shop.  They take walk-ins and appointments.  They're also open really late on Friday and Saturday nights.

It is often said that there is no such thing as bad pizza. Even if it's greasy and slippery, it's probably still pretty good (the same can be said for sex, and those two adjectives could also apply).

It is NOT the same for tattoos.  Some are just plain bad and there is no two ways about it.

Thanks to the miracle of television, tattoo shops have made their way into our living rooms.  The once maligned body art can now be found on nearly everyone and...well, everyone.

That means you can FINALLY get those two verses from your favorite Hilary Duff song on your ribs (the day you turn 18!); it means that its now perfectly acceptable for my gynecologists assistant to have knuckle tats; and my conservative mother to get a tramp stamp.  It means every other choad at the grocery store wears an Ed Hardy (or similar) t-shirt and has plans for a 'sick sleeve' one of these days.

Supply and demand.  Shitty shops have sprung up like pimples on a whore's ass; even the local mall boasts a shop!  Sweet.  Now I can get a soft pretzel AND a portrait of my beloved pit bull!  I can buy a pair of hot pants and get my boyfriend's name!  I can buy a battery at Sears and...(I can keep going here).

The point I'm trying to make, is that while everyone and their brother goes out and settles for shitty tattoos, you can instead make a wise choice and pick a clean establishment, run by fine folks who have been in the business since before Miami Ink went into syndication.

You might have to make an appointment, and there isn't a place to get an Arby's 'Beef and Cheddar' next door, but what you will get is a great piece of permanent derma-art.  They also take credit cards, which is fan-bloody-tastic.

Nice place, clean, my wife goes for her tattoos and they do nice work. The other reviewer is right in that the neighborhood is rough but the shop is nice but to correct him this is the Northwest not the Northeast :D

Do NOT let the neighborhood fool you...Brass City is a clean and beautiful shop with some of the best artists in the northeast.
