I have known Jerry for years. He does not sugarcoat and honors his word. The guys are a crack-up here. Talk is not always exactly PG rated, so don't be a P*ssy. I am a friend for life to Jerry. Anyone is lucky to go here and have work done.

This place is bullshit. They lie about their pricing and once they start you're screwed. My brother got his first tattoo EVER here because they told him the day before his birthday that they could do his tattoo, which he discussed in detail with them, for $200 color and everything. Then halfway through they said they were only going to do the outline and shading for $200. LIARS!!!!!! Karma is a b***h you crooks!!!!

I get my tattoos by Eric and he always does an incredible job. They are reasonably priced and super creative. They do an amazing job with my high maintenance indecisive self and the outcome is always amazing. Ive seen the other artists work and the piercer and I highly recommend all of them. I used to drive 3 hours away for tattoos and couldnt be happier here. I will never go anywhere else. All the guys do great work

Got two of my tattoos done here as well as two piercings, love all of them!!! My tattoos still look fabulous and although the piercings didn't last it had nothing to do with this shop, just my decision to eventually take them out. My tattoos are on the small side, but I wasn't overcharged and like I said I love them and they still look great!!!

i got my ears gauged, tragus pierced, and cartilage pierced all in one day here. unfortunately, the piercer (forgot his name) didn't put a ling enough bar in my tragus piercing which would allow room for it to swell. i woke up one morning and my skin had swelled OVER the piercing jewelry! you couldn't see it at all! i was on vacation in the middle of the rain forest in hawaii and had to cut my day short to find a piercing shop to get help. worst experience ever! on top of that i'm pretty sure he told me the wrong gauge size (he said my ears were 6 but i'm almost positive they're 4's or possibly bigger). on a positive note the staff is very friendly and the shop is clean. maybe the piercer was just having an off day.

I got my tongue pierced here about 2 years ago. I don't remember the pierces name but he did a great job. A few week ago me and my friend got our nipples pierced here by Nick. He did an awesome job and was very personal but professional at the same time. Definitely will be coming back if I want any other piercings done. nipples costed $60 total for jewlery and piercings so I thought it was a good price also.

My boyfriend got his tattoo here. It was his last name with a few flourishes, the lines are uuber crooked and sloppy. Some of them are doubled up, and it's a mess. He said the artist was drinking an energy drink as he got the tattoo. Now my boyfriend has a jittery looking tattoo on his arm. I can't wait to pay for it to get touched up SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I think the funniest shit is when people purposely create YELP accounts just to talk shit, then promote another business. That's not nice. Don't you worry Jimmy and California Tattoo ... I already flagged that review, it should be gone in a few days.

Anyway, about my experience ... I hit up Jimmy on Facebook a few months ago about getting a new tattoo.

So, now that I finally have a break from working I decided to mosey on in.

I got a kick ass new MOM tattoo in a heart. All sorts of wicked like. AND I LOVE IT. Typical $100/hr rate, which was fine in my book and I even dropped him a little tippy tip. I live off tips and shit, this thing is on me forever, so might as well show the man I appreciated it.

Jimmy kicks ass, also. He is super nice and definitely not a prick.

I have already referred a few people to Jimmy and I am planning on going back for another tattoo in a week or so.

Oh, and just as a side note, this shop is super clean and all the employees are really really nice and it was cool to just banter with them. They had some kids come in (with their Mom) to get their ears pierced and they were VERY professional. This is really important to me ... kids are our future of course and if they see these guys being nice and respectful it gives a good example that you can be whomever you want and still be a legit person.

My brother and I went to Jimmy and are totally psyched by what he did. Jimmy was very excited about my tattoo and I felt he went above and beyond getting the size/placement/look exactly right. I get compliments like crazy on the finished product and I am 100% happy with it. Jimmy did a tribute tattoo for my brother who had only ideas about what he wanted and Jimmy gave him a beautiful, coherent finished piece that my brother loves. We will definitely be back!

Just got a sick tat from Mike Miller at California Tattoo of my daughters name and her hand print. I couldn't be happier! My appointment was at 6:30 and he took me right on time. It took him about 15 minutes to draw up the tattoo and about 45 minutes to do it. I was in and out in an hour. The shop was clean and organized. This shop ( Mike Miller in particular ) was referred to me. I recommend his work and will definitely be back for some more.

WOW WOW WOW got my 2nd tatt from this place , Thanks Chops
Just by chance I walked in a little after they opened yesterday. Walked in and Chops smiles and walked towards me. Gave him my ideas of what I wanted and within minutes, BAM!!! My wish was granted. He's new to me as another artist did my flames prior. Chatted as the time went by super fast. Lucky for me when I got there cuz after I sat down, four people waked in.

I've had all my piercings done here (tongue, a few on my lip, industrial, belly button..) and have never had a bad experience. Kevin McFarland was awesome but the new piercer isn't so bad either. Everyones cool and professional. No complaints..

It'd been a decade since I got one.

I knew what I'd wanted for months but didn't want to stop my running for the time required to get it done. Especially when I was in constant battle of each run possibly being the last I'd be able to do for awhile.

Finally, with an estimated one week wait for my new running shoes to arrive, it was time.

I debated hours over exactly how I wanted it to look, three syllables, did I want it in hiragana or kanji? What calligraphic style?

A couple of minutes on http://yelp.com, a couple of phone calls later, and California Tattoo said they might be able to fit me in for a 5PM appointment same day. I drove right over to pay the deposit and put my name on the list.

The guy handling the front was rather awkward to deal with and didn't seem that nice. I felt like I was getting some attitude because I wasn't coming in for a full sleeve and was trying to get this done same day.

But sometimes it is the simplest things that have the most meaning.

Once they saw how simple it was they were able to fit me in immediately before the next appointment showed up. The tattoo artist Chops was prompt, courteous, and professional throughout the entire experience. He made sure I was ok with the placement before going for the needle, gave clear instructions on aftercare along with a small paper slip to make sure I remembered, and handed me his businesscard, making it known he was willing to answer any post-care questions or concerns I might come up with after leaving the shop.

$60 cash, hours of searching for the exact design I wanted, a couple of minutes of intense pain, and a new part of my identity forever.

I already know what I'm getting next.

My husband has gotten several tattoos from Mike Miller here at California tattoo. First a black & white leg sleeve with a cross, Scripture, and a viking scene with vikings, ship, rocks, sky, & sun rays. Then a colorful apocalyptic arm sleeve with the Lion of Judah, the sacred heart, angels, rivers, burning bush, etc. So much detail beyond description!! They are both a brilliant piece of art!! He brought in pics & then Mike worked with them & added his own handiwork to them. I couldn't be more proud, and let's just say I'll be happy looking at those tattoos next to me for the rest of our lives!!! I trust Mike very much to do brilliant work! I would be happy if my husband goes back here again. I would be afraid for him to try someone new whose work might not compare!! Thanks so much Mike!! (You can check out Mike's work in person, where my husband works at Knucklehead Hot Dogs, in Roseville, on Foothills Blvd!)

I recently went into California tattoo with my boyfriend so he could make a future appointment for his next tattoo (not planning on getting one myself that day) I mentioned that I had been wanting a tattoo of flowers on my ribs to the guys behind the counter. As I was looking through the portfolios I came across Mike Miller's work and was amazed. As luck had it he happened to be one of the guys we had been talking to! Mike had a break then, so I asked if he could free hand the flowers just to see if I would like it. Not many artists would do a "let's just see" thing like that but he had no problem doing it! I fell in love with his work and jumped on the chance to have him do the tattoo right then!!!! Mike had very light hands and the shading was incredible!!! His tattoo makes the other one on my back look like amateur work... I guess I will be going back soon to have him cover that now!!! Thanks Mike! I've been tellng everyone about you!!!

I ell oh vee ee LOVE California Tattoo. Mostly CHOPS. He does amazing work and is just a pleasant person to be around. These guys won't tell you what you want to hear to get you in the seat to make money. If it's going to be stupid and look like shit they are straight up about it. I've never been tattooed by Jerry but I always hear him when I'm getting tattooed and he's super funny and makes me laugh. Which is nice when you are getting a needle drug through your skin. Shop is always clean. My husband gets tattooed by whomever is available at the time usually. (he's usually just a walk in type of guy.) And his tat's are always consistantely good as well.

We were at a car show a few weeks ago (midnight mass 09) and CA Tattoo was out there tattooing. My husband and I decided to get little tattoo's and even in the loud outside where hot rods were revving and drunk people were going nutty these guys still pulled off beyond stellar work. I suggest giving them a try for sure.

I am now retracting my previous statement. I was introduced to a new tattooist who actually cares about my comfort and takes his time. When my last tattoo by Jerry took an hour, something was definitly not cool. Patience and great service go a long way.

What can I say...If you're looking for a place to walk into and get some quailty work, this is a great spot to do that.

Ask for Chops, dude is super chill and all about his work. Great place to walk into a get a spur of the moment (we have all had one) quailty tattoo.

Check them out if you wind up driving down a random street in the Sacramento area.
