First off, I want to say that I have tried this place twice and have had terrible experiences both times. Â I thought that by giving them a second chance, that maybe my original opinion of them could be replaced. However, I was very wrong and extremely disappointed.
The first time I tried The Club, I found out after paying $100 for a tanning membership that I had to have emergency surgery and would be on medication that wouldn't allow me to tan. The owner REFUSED to give me a refund and acted as if it was my fault for not planning my "emergency surgery" around my tanning membership. She would only let me use a store credit to buy items in her shop. The limited supply of decent merchandise made the experience even worse because I was now wasting $100 on items that I didn't want/like. When I spoke to her on the phone, she repeatedly interrupted me and spoke badly about other tanning salons in the area, saying that her shop was "by far the best out there because other salons don't change out their bulbs." She was extremely unsympathetic to the fact that I had to have surgery and couldn't control that I wasn't able to use my membership any time soon.
However, I decided recently, that I'd try them again (crazy, right?) for their spray tanning services. I wanted to give the owner a second chance at a better impression. My appt was at 6:30pm, and I waited over 45 minutes for her to arrive since she is the ONLY one certified in the shop. I waited so long that I ended up having to leave. I was frustrated that the girl at the front desk had called her twice and yet she was still not there for our appt. Finally the girl called again and gave me the phone. I said "hello?" the owner said with a bad attitude, "UM, did she tell you that I couldn't find my car keys????" I said, "No, she didn't. She did you were 5 minutes away, 25 minutes ago. I've been waiting here for 45 min now." Â She then said, "UM ACTUALLY you've only been waiting for THIRTY minutes!" I couldn't believe what I was hearing... Other people that were waiting in the lobby said, "yea, the owner is rarely on time for appointments." This is how she runs her business? Too bad. I plan on advertising for her for FREE. Don't bother using this salon. If the OWNER is this unprofessional, rude, and irresponsible... It's not worth your money to support her company. There are plenty of amazing salons out there that not only deserve your business but will TREAT you with respect. That... is priceless.
If I could base my review on my first visit, it would be 5 stars. That was 2 years ago. The owner was fabulous. I went in and got a spray tan. She made me feel comfortable and did a great job. I was so impressed that I bought a package and a few retail items from the store and spent $240. Â However, I have called probably about 10 times since then when a special occasion or something came up and every time the owner is not there so no one can provide the service. So here I am with my original receipt thinking it's money out the window and I was ripped off. I called today to see if she would be in and the the girl said "no... Maybe try Monday". Well doesn't help me when I want it today and this is supposed to be a full service place. I'm sure I will try again when another event comes up, but I'm not expecting a different outcome. At this point I just want my money back, which I am sure after two years won't happen. Supposedly they never expire, it's a good thing since the service never seems to be available.
Review Source:Hate to write negative reviews, I don't normally complain just for the sake of complaining. Â But today was my second experience with The Club and neither visit has been pleasant. Â
Rather than go into petty detail, I'll just sum it up by saying that both times, the woman I dealt with has been unfriendly, aloof, impatient, condescending, and sorely lacking in professionalism. Â And no, this wasn't some inexperienced high school student working her first part-time customer service job...if that were the case, I'd maybe be a little more understanding. Â
The facility, itself, is clean and well-equipped, so for that reason I'm giving two stars as opposed to one. Â That, however, is not reason enough for me personally to go back. Â In my endless pursuit of the perfect tan, I'll sooner subject myself to 30 minutes of scorching, relentless AZ sun in my own backyard than to go where my patronage is neither welcome nor appreciated.
The Club...if your goal was to send the message that you prefer not to be bothered by my business, I assure you that message was received, loud and clear. Â Don't worry, I won't be bothering you again.
I've never even set foot in the place and I already had a bad experience. I called to see how late they were open, hoping to stop by really quick and buy a tanning lotion. The lady on the phone preceded to tell me "we close at 9:00 but it's already 8:40, so YEAH"... implying she didn't want to work any more for the rest of the evening. Any place that makes me feel like my business is not worth their last 20 minutes of the day is no place for me.
