I had a  vacation planned in the area, did some research & decided on getting a tattoo here. Made an appt about 2 weeks in advance, told Sean  a vague idea of what I wanted for a tattoo.  When I went in for my appointment, Sean had the drawing for my tattoo set up waiting for my approval. I was beyond ecstatic with the drawing he came up with. It was more then I could imagine.  The shop was very clean & Sean was great during the whole experience.  I will be sure to use this tattoo shop again when I get more tattoos!
Review Source:Big space, multiple uses for it. Art shows, music, tattoos. The kind of flexible space that allows for that format. Epic hipsterdom reigns. So many unkept beards.... Heh. I have absolutely no interest in tattoos myself, but I'm sure that service helps support the gallery space.
Given that tats seem to be the primary income stream (my guess on observation) the shows I've seen here have been a bit uneven. Thats the nature of this sort of hybrid enterprise, and, to my mind, one of its strengths. I'm a huge fan of this sort of out of the mainstream arts space. Bravo to those operating and curating the joint.
Collective not only host art galleries but is also a full time tattoo shop surrounded by great artist. The location is superb nestled on the corner of the 600 Block which has quickly become know as the Art District in St Pete. Prices are reasonable as well.
When you go ask for Matt Skinner, he is a very good artist and a nice guy to chat with while you're getting your ink.
