First of all this shop is immaculately clean and adorable. Easy parking and in a central area of SD. BONNIE rocks! She is an amazing artist and very experienced at her craft. She is very gentle and has a very calming personality. Very reassuring. I would trust her with my ink any day and refer her to anyone!
Review Source:Bonnie has been my tattooist for several years. Â I am always so happy with what she does. Â I have too many tattoos to count, but my favorite is a big thigh piece Bonnie put on me this last year. Â I also have a horrible old tattoo, that I hate, it is on my forearm with lots of thick black lines. Â I was very worried about covering it up. Â Bonnie started on it a few weeks ago and I have been so excited by the results. Â We are working on turning it into a full sleeve. Â Instead of coming to Bonnie with a sketch, I just tell her an idea and she always draws the exact thing that fits my personality and body. She has now done six of my tattoos. Â It also helps she is an incredibly hot bald lady. Â Have I mentioned EVERYONE THAT WORKS HERE IS HOT???
Now the shop- Can you think of a better environment to get tattooed?  The décor is AMAZING and you can tell Diana, the owner, put a lot of herself into the studio.  It is so CLEAN and inviting and everyone is so friendly.  If you need some air, check out the back patio area.  It is like a little oasis!
The other artists are amazing as well. Â Cari has done one piece on me that I absolutely love, and we are working on another. Â Her color always really pops and she makes quick work out of big pieces. Â She is also fun to banter with and has a great laugh.
Diana and Beth will also tattoo me in the future. Â They are both such talented artists. Â I have seen work from both of them that catches my breathe. Â Beautiful ladies that do exquisite art!
I will only be happy when they have all four tattooed me. Â Now quit reading this and get in there!!
Just snagged my first tattoo here and it's been four weeks and my skin hasn't fallen off or anything, so that's a good start.
My former boss and two of my siblings had some nice work down by Diana, so I decided that Diego Tattoo was the place to get it done. As soon as I arrived in the store I knew that they were the pros (and that's saying a lot in a Navy town). I brought Diana a few pictures to brainstorm with, she said "great", I left my deposit, and I came back two days later to find a sketch better than what I imagined. So now, I have this great looking tattoo and I can't wait to get my next one!
Diana made getting a five star rating look easy.
What can I say except I got one tattoo from Diana and I was hooked. Â I've gotten three more and we've planned out a half sleeve w/ some freehand elements. Â I trust her completely. Â Her lines are amazing and she's a warm person. Â Good new place in South Park. Â See her and you won't be sorry.
Review Source:I went to Diana. Â
The pros: Nice shop, very clean and comfortable. Diana is super nice, definitely willing to move the stencil of the tattoo as many times as necessary. Â Overall her tattoo work was nice.
Cons: I don't say the cons lightly, they are my honest opinion. Â After reading other reviews I choose to pay more and go with Diana, because I wanted my tattoo to come out exceptionally well. Â After I got home I was disappointed when I noticed that two of the letters on the tattoo were spaced further out then the others. Â There were a few other details that could have been better too. Â I was just expecting a little more attention to detail. I'll take some responsibility I only looked at the tattoo for a minute but I honestly just didn't expect to see that sort of mistake.
I also thought she could improve on describing shading, size and color options for tattoos, I felt like she jumped ahead and  I later thought of some options that might have better suited me.  Maybe she was just in a hurry that day, I am not sure.  I am definitely particular about my tattoo design and like time to think about it.  I should have taken the design home and thought about it some more, but I felt some pressure to get it that day.  Which is more my issue then Diana's, I know a lot of people don't think about their tattoos as much as I do.
Beth did what I came in to get done - wanted my original tattoo I got in Japan to have more color, depth and sharpness. . . . . she delievered. Happy w/ the way it turned out. Took about 3 1/2 hours. They don't take credit cards, but there is an ATM machine across the street. I like the vibe of the place - chill music, artists and a big friendly bulldog.
Review Source:Another honest to goodness review...I went there in a bit of a rush, after being let down at another nearby shop who cancelled on me. Â I was in need of an artist to capture the essence of the tattoo, and to help me put a visual to it since the meaning behind it was deep. Â It was also a joint effort to fix an old tat. Â Bonnie took the time and made this important piece for me possible. Â She went out of her way to make it happen and I will forever be grateful...to me that is beyond value because this piece will be a companion for the rest of my days...
Review Source:I had my newest tattoo done by Cari and it came out perfect. I entered the Diego Tattoo Gallery on a whim will walking my dog - the shop needs to thank the guy inside who saw me looking as I walked by, and so do I. If he hadn't heckled me to come in and get tatted up I'd probably still only have a sketch and an idea and nothing else! Anyway, Cari took a simple black and white sketch my brother drew and turned it into a great tattoo with color that really pops. I love it and would totally recommend her work.
Review Source:I've been seeing Diana for almost two years and have had several other artists in the past do work for me. She is by far the most professional and talented artist I have had. I bring her these weird ideas and she's always on the same page as me and never ceases to amaze with what she comes up with. It's to the point where I just give her money and the basis of an idea and just let her go. I would HIGHLY recommend her to anybody I know. The new shop is also amazing. Warm vibes and cool melodies. She's got a great thing going!!
Review Source:Had such an awesome experience at Diego Tattoo! Bonnie is absolutely amazing!! Immediately upon arrival I felt comfortable (the shop is so neat and clean...unlike what comes to mind when you think of a typical tattoo shop). I felt right at home when I got there. Both Bonnie and Diana were very nice and I was at ease looking at all of the beautiful artwork around and that Bonnie was currently working on. Â This was my first time getting a tattoo and i'm glad to say it was a very pleasant experience. I am absolutely in love with the tattoo and am so thankful I had Bonnie do it! Bonnie is truly an artist (just take a look at her work). You will not be disappointed with Diego Tattoo :).
Review Source:5 stars just isn't enough for this shop and for Diana. Â
Nine of my eleven tattoos were done by Diana, and each time I get a new one she amazes me even more than the last time. I've been going to her for 3 years and I don't trust my skin to anyone else now. Last summer I was all set to get a tat at Hart & Huntington in Vegas (something I've wanted to do for years) but ended up waiting til I got back to SD to have Diana do it. Â I just couldn't imagine walking into any other shop and saying "this tattoo needs to have 13 stars but the rest is up to you". Diana is the only artist I trust to freehand directly onto my skin and come out with a design I absolutely love. Â I frequently get compliments on my tattoos from strangers, and several of my friends have gone to her after seeing the work she's done on me. Â
Diana makes the entire experience very enjoyable. Â She's laid back and the shop atmosphere is quite relaxing. Â She makes sure the design and placement are exactly to your liking, and is very accommodating when crazies like me ask her to move the stencil "slightly to the right" 6 times in a row. :)
The shop is gorgeous and very inviting. Â Though I haven't had work done by Bonnie, I can say without a doubt she has to be amazing as well if she's working at Diego Tattoo.
Stop your search for a shop here - Diego Tattoo will not disappoint.
My best tattoos have been done by Diana at Diego Tattoo! I really like the vibe of her newly opened shop. I was referred here by Kristin M., and couldn't be happier! Not only does she do great work, but her music playlist and sense of humor will keep me coming back for more! FYI, you might bleed while getting tattooed. ;) thanks for everything, hopefully you're not tired of tattooing pandas.
Review Source:Diego tattoo gallery will be the place I get my tattoos from now on in San Diego. Diana is the sweetest and she makes the tattoo experience that much better. I had met with her a few weeks before my appointment to give her an idea of what I wanted and what she drew up was everything I wanted and more. Â My dad recently passed away and I wanted to get a tattoo in honor of him, and I am really glad she was the one to do it. She even accommodated a second tattoo when I got there that I sprung on her last minute.
Can't wait for my next tattoo with her.
:)
Diana is always accommodating, she will listen to what you want and do an amazing job executing the artwork. She can also come up with ideas that make the piece the best it can be. Her work is consistent and she takes her time making a tattoo that will amaze you and your friends. Even strangers stop me and comment on the sleeve done by her. Diana is a true artist to her core and loves what she does, and I drive from LA just to get work done.
Review Source:I've been to quite a few different tattoo artists, and I've never found one that I'd go back to until now. Diana is an amazing artist! Â She's done two tattoos of mine and they came out better than I ever imagined. I just gave her a general idea of what I wanted and she turned it into amazing artwork. I highly recommend this place to anyone. I will definitely be back for more!
Review Source:Diego Tattoo Gallery is a perfect marriage of vintage treatments with innovative flair--hosted by an amazing artisan. Â Its name is suitable, as the space showcases artifacts and art as well as providing the obvious tattooing services. The ambiance is warm and welcoming; one can tell that a lot of love went into the bones of this space.
Diana DeAugustine, owner of Diego Tattoo Gallery, is a brilliant and gifted artist on so many levels. For the last three years she has been my primary body decorator. Her artistic vision as well as her ability to create something from nothing is unmatched by artists I have worked with in the past. Her delicate touch while tattooing, makes the "yes it hurts" experience, less painful. Â When she worked at Buju Tattoo (also an awesome shop), she had the support and encouragement of other talented artists--which moved her to take the risk and open a shop of her own. Â
Diego Tattoo Gallery is a definite must-stop for locals and tourists alike. Imagine going on a field trip to a unique archeological dig, seeing creative images and objects everywhere your eyes focus, and getting to buy a skin souvenir from a super cool chick who can draw and ink like mad. That...is ALWAYS a day worth repeating!
Congratulations on a shop well done!!!
I would give Diana more than 5 stars if I could. Her recently opened space in South Park is sick. It has a rustic, but stylish feel combining her style with contributions from other local artists. It looks amazing and from what she says she's planning will be look even more legit when she's finished.
On to the artist - I can honestly, easily say that Diana DeAugustine, the owner, is hands down the best tattoo artist I have ever worked with. As long as she is doing tattoos, I will go to her. Her style and creativity are superior to most and I always love everything she comes up with. I'm not an artistic person. I give her the most incredibly vague ideas and she turns it into something amazing that I never could've pictured. I've been going to her for the better part of a year and made the switch when she left Buju (amazing shop filled with talented artists) because I've never felt more comfortable and confident with an artist.
So, congratulations to her on her new venture. I know she'll kill it.
