So after I went back to have the artist with the gray hair to fix it (I had an appt.) he was working on someone else (I guess he never spoke to me) ANOTHER artist who I never seen before offered to fix it in a week. I never went back I went to Sparrow Tattoo and had Jermay (sp) fix it and now it looks decent! There are pics up on my review for Sparrow.

I won't go back to Epic ever again I would not recommend this place based off my experience.

From what I've heard, there are some really talented artists here and I am only speaking of my experiences with one artist: Ryan. Because of all the promising things I heard I felt like I was going to be in good hands. Now, I am stuck with a shitty tattoo on my arm that I am constantly having to cover up with sleeves because I really can't stand looking at it, and I don't really want anyone else looking at it either.

First of all, from the moment I walked in I wasn't greeted with any hospitality in the least, but I also can't say I expected to be. Some tattoo shops can have the pretentious vibes which is still mildly annoying but hey, whatever, I prepare myself for that. Although, AJ and a woman, who to my knowledge was the piercer were very friendly.

I got set up with Ryan, and he began drawing up what I described to him. I really did like what he drew. Unfortunately, my tattoo somehow looks like an extremely rough draft of the stencil.. and is very poorly done. I have only one other tattoo that was done by Jay Joree at Last Angels in Dallas (which I am in love with and would recommend her as well as any of the other artists there any day), and the whole time I was getting tattooed, Ryan was talking trash on my tattoo specifically as well as her as an artist. I found that to be really annoying and unprofessional, especially because because I love my tattoo, Jay was wonderful, and my experience at Last Angels was infinitely better than my experience at Epic.

While also being super annoying in that aspect, Ryan was extremely rough when tattooing me. I don't have a ton of experience and like I said, I only have one tattoo, but I did sit for 4 hours for a thigh piece for and while for me, it wasn't a particularly pleasant feeling, it was definitely manageable. However, when Ryan was tattooing me it was as if he was literally digging into my arm, and whenever he would wipe any excess ink away he would basically rub my arm raw with a dry paper towel which as you could imagine, wasn't very comfortable.

Not to mention in the middle of tattooing me, he decided it would be a good idea to tell me how stoned he was. Greaaat... at this point it was too late to ask him to stop.

Whenever he was finished, I noticed things that were wrong with it right off the bat, but there wasn't really anything he or I could have done anyway. The shape is too obscure and the colors are too bright/dark for it to be easy to fix or cover up. So now, I will have to pay for laser to get it faded and covered up.

Whenever I got home, I took a good look at the tattoo in the mirror and just started crying. Also, I was already familiar with how to care for my tattoo, and this wasn't due to an infection, but within about 2 days of getting my tattoo my arm was bruised from the inside of my arm all the way to the inside of my elbow. This was strange to me because my tattoo is on the outside of my arm just under my shoulder cap, and no where near my elbow. I guess this might be able to give you an idea of how rough he was.

Basically, despite all the promising things I heard about this shop, my experience sucked and I won't ever be going back. Every time I see my tattoo I become frustrated, thinking of the cost of laser and how much money I wasted on a shitty tattoo/experience in the first place.

Please keep in mind that I am only reviewing one artist, and that there are other artists there that I have heard great things about. This review is only pertaining to one artist/experience.

Guys were super helpful with great designs. My friend and I both got one.  Mine says "I refuse to sink".  I'm gonna add some to it later.  Great experience!

A buddy and I decided to get some ink.  We both used a previous shop, but the artist moved.  After checking out the "Epic" artists work on the net, we both decided to head here and give it a shot.

Upon first entering, the shop was decent - both in location and appearance.  It was not like walking into a cave or some hide-away.  As mentioned in other reviews for Epic, the meet and greet was not all that welcoming.  As soon as I threw out an artist's name, they immediately perked up.  So talking to the artist, I shared my concept and a few pix, which he completely ignored while he was surfing on the Mac next to him.  He then said, "...give me an hour and I will draw it up."  My first thoughts were, "I got the artist, he can fit me in, and I am getting some more ink."

After watching the staff completely ignored my buddy and I for about 1.75 hours while they were "drawing", they pop out saying, "Here you go man.  I just completed it. (as he pulled it off an Epson AlI-In-One)."  [Me:  I'm getting ink'ed again and anticipating that joyous pain.]

Venture in time with me for just a bit.  This was not my first or second tat.  I've been living on Google Images for the past three weeks trying to put my concept together.  I have seen every design on the globe.  Now combining my vast research and my 3-minute conversation with the "Epic" artist, he had the nerve to pull an image off of the net, wiped out the original artists name, then presented it off as his own.  [Me:  This isn't going so well.]

I tried to discuss my concept, my hopes, my dreams to a guy that spent 1.75 hours drawing something up, then comes out to me with an image from Google.  I took some responsibility saying that I may not have depicted it appropriately, as he shares an image that was everything that I didn't want.  I then said, give me a minute and go ahead and follow up with my buddy.  I didn't want to make a life-long complacent decision just to get inked.

My buddy shares his image, email's it to the "Epic" artist.  The artist then jumps behind the wall to draw it up.  I hear the "Epic" artist and the shop manager discuss another piece of work that they have planned (although they were pretty adamant they do not take appointments on the weekend, but they have someone scheduled).  The manager asked the "Epic" artist if she needed to bump the scheduled appointment to allow for my buddy and I to get inked.  The "Epic" artist then said, "I am not drawing anything else up for that guy [me]."  [Me:  FU]

The "Epic" artist pops out from behind the wall like an Artist-in-a-Box and calls my buddy.  My buddy agreed to the concept, then all of a sudden a new artist walks into the joint, and the "Epic" artist that we have been working with for now 2.5 hours tries to pass my buddy off to this new guy.  [Me:  WTF!]

We both walked away, inkless!  FML.

Final points:  (1) If you have been inked before, this may not be the place to get another, (2) if you have a cartoon or coloring-image that needs NO MODIFICATION, this is your place.

I hate to slam the whole place because of the "Epic" color-er, but after sitting there for 2+ hours, there is nothing Epic about this place.

I went in to get my tattoo at epic, Ralph was the artist. Overall the shop was nice, but the staff was not exactly stellar with customer service or friendliness. I guess you shouldn't expect too much from a tattoo shop, but it is still a business. Ralph has a pretty light touch and works quickly, however I noticed a few small imperfections, but nothing too major. The biggest problem I had was he strayed from the sketch I provided leading to an incorrect format. Ultimately I have to take responsibility as I gave final approval on the stencil. I was caught up in the excitement I suppose and did not notice it. I expect the artist to be detailed and professional enough to catch those details I provided, but there is not much I can do about it now. My experience was a vast improvement over the last one I had at Randy Adams, so I might return to Epic, but with lowered expectations on customer service, and a much sharper eye when giving final approval on a stencil. Rookie mistake I know, but the pros are supposed to help with that kind of stuff, that is why we pay them.

I initially went in thinking I wanted a tattoo from Brian, who has ammaaazziingg work in his portfolio but turned out to be a bit of a prickly pear in person who said he didn't draw original art and only did photorealism. Fair enough.

Fortunately, AJ happened to be listening in to our conversation and jumped in when he heard what I was wanting to do. This was a beautiful, fortuitous thing because he happens to love doing traditional American pin-up style tattoos which was precisely what I was looking for. I gave him just a stupid variety of things I thought I might want and he said "Give me an hour."

In an hours time, he showed me what he had drawn and he had magically plucked out the best possible combination of all the things I wanted with a gorgeous drawing. His pricing was completely fair, and I would even venture to say pretty generous considering how beautiful his work turned out to be.

He was a pleasure to work with, very kind and attentive during the tattoo, and he just happened to be as excited about the work he was doing on me as I was - and it's always a gift to have your artist just as engaged in the design as you are.

I haven't trusted anyone in the DFW to do work on me since I moved here, 800 miles away from my artist back at home. I'm so glad I found my new artist up here.

PS - As I was wrapping up, a girl was haggling for prices. As a girl who has gotten the cheapest of cheap and the best of the best tattoos, please trust me when I say you do NOT want to haggle on art that will be on your body forever. The two artists I interacted with at Epic are just that - artists. Treat them accordingly and be willing to pay what their work is worth. I promise you won't regret it!

Ok first off a while ago I would have given Epic five stars but not since Nick left. Me and my hubby have went there for every single one of our tats and piercings. I loved the place. But since Nick left we have only been up there to get a lip retainer. We stood there for ten minutes waiting for somebody to come to the front and stop hitting on the clients getting work done. Cat is still there and she is a great piercer and the only person I will let poke a hole through me. We will be following Nick to the new place. He is a great artist. I don't like the vibe I get from the tattoo artist up there. I will however go to Cat for any new holes I may want.

I was in town for a weekend holiday & decided to get tattoo #6. I found Epic Tattoo on yelp and after a bit of research online (check out their Facebook page) I decided to go with them.

It's very clean and decorated well. I don't know where it was written that tattoo studios need to be sketchy looking, but Epic has a great look.

Nate looked at the google image I had, changed it up and gave me something perfect. These guys are artists first. They won't let you leave with something you don't like. Prices are wicked reasonable too. They have great piercing prices and I understand Cat is amazing. I was tempted to get a piercing, but resisted!!

Quick, clean, friendly and fair prices... Can't ask for more in a tattoo studio.

    Ask for Nate!! He's awesome!!

I have come here quite a few times, either to have my nostrils pierced and re-pierced or to get a tattoo.

The woman who does my piercings is amazing and she always makes me feel comfortable when getting them done, because I am deathly scared of needles and the pain that follows.

The artist who did my tattoo was friendly, and attractive to boot!

Their piercings are 20$ which I think is unbelievably cheap compared to the 40$ a piece I am used to in Houston.

Overall, they could have a bit more parking but this place rocks. They do a great job, are cheap and have good customer service that explains the after-care to you extensively.

Very professional but still laid back. Price was great I got my tattoo in color and its good size only charged me $90. I went to this place because I saw a few people with really brite color tattoos and they all had them done here! Now I have to if your looking for color this is the place.

After seeing the good reviews, I decided to get my first tattoo at epic about a week and a half ago. I walked in on a Sunday, and after showing the artist, Nate, what I wanted, he drew up his own version which was exactly what I wanted. He was very patient when I was trying to decide where I wanted to place it. Being my first time and all, the employees made me feel very comfortable, the place was clean, and they were really nice. I would highly recommend this place! I love my tattoo! Stop looking and go here.

So as I pondered what I wanted my 5th tattoo to be... I was in a quandary  . I had previously gone to another guy, who I might say was very talented yet also very busy. Our schedules never seemed to match and I was ready to throw the whole idea out the window. As I cruising down the bread aisle at walmart, I spot this amazing piece of art tattooed on a girls arm.. Half sleeve.  I had to ask... And she led me to Nick at Epic Tattoo.

After a brief consult to discuss ideas, I walked out with a really good draft of what I wanted. 2 hours later I was back in... Relaxed in a chair and getting ink'd for the 5th time... Damn it's addictive! I wanted something visible and beautiful because at this particular point in my life I wasn't feeling either.

I highly reccommend Epic ...and Nick. They are amazing artist as well as friendly, not to pricey, and clean... A plus for a tattoo parlor.
Thanks Nick... I can't wait to add on to this tat...

This place is the best if you want an amazing tattoo and they are really nice and professional. They will make suggestions if what you want needs a little help as mine did with the lettering. They spend the extra time and I could not believe how cheap it was. The best place for tattoo's!!!!

After months of thinking and researching ideas, I finally decided on an idea for another tattoo.  It was a totally original thought so there was not a drawing to use as a reference.  I went into the shop, was immediately greeted, and told them my idea.  The artist (Micheal) was extremely receptive.  He had me research online with him for about 10-15 minutes to make sure I had the chosen the right thing and then he drew it up freehand.  It looked wonderful.  He helped me place it in a good area and explained the whole process!  The shop was clean and they used all sterilized equipment.

My tattoo took about one hour.  The time went by so fast since he was talkative and reassuring.  When we finished he thoroughly explained the aftercare instructions, covered my tat, and I was on my way!

By far the best tattoo shop I have ever been in and received service from!  The pricing is competitive and reasonable.  (I actually thought I would pay a lot more than what he quoted me!)

I will definitely return for my next tattoo!
