I've been to probably.... five-six tattoo/piercing shops in my lifetime and this was one of the nicest. Â I had a nose piercing before (done in Chicago) and it was a pretty craptastic experience so when I decided to do it again I made sure to get it done right. Â I did some researching on Columbus piercing shops and according to http://safepiercing.org, Evolved is one of two places in Columbus that is a member of the association of professional piercers. Â Evolved was closest to me so I went there. And I'm very glad that I did.
Evolved seems hell-bent on making sure that you, as the client, know that they are clean and sterile. Â I loved that. Â Sarvas pierced me and he was so kind and gentle. Â When a little tear involuntarily dropped from my eye, he wiped it with some gauze haha. Â I thought that was sweet. Â They offer discounts too... you get buy one get one (piercing) on Thursdays and 50% off on your birthday. And you get a coupon for a future jewelry purchase.
I've returned to Evolved a few times to either change jewelry (because I'm a scaredy cat) or get jewelry reinserted because i took the jewelry out and my piercing closed a bit. Â Each of those visits were great. Â The staff really seems to care about you when you're there. Â And you wouldn't expect that by just looking at them-- c'mon, with all those tats and piercings... they look extra hardcore but they're as sweet as can be. Â
I highly recommend Evolved.
Four words: Two for one piercings.
I've gotten my navel, inverse navel, and forward helix pierced here. The first two were by Sarvas, and the last by Colin. I really love this shop: everyone is professional and super passionate about body modification. They don't treat you differently based on your age or lack of piercings/tattoos, which is always a huge plus.
Every piece of jewelry is specially sanitized, and all the piercers are very dedicated to cleanliness. That's a huge relief when it comes to worrying about healing! If you're going in for a larger piece, such as a custom tattoo or serious piercing set, you should probably get an appointment. I've always just done walk-ins since I'm willing to wait.
This shop is my go-to piercing place when I'm in Ohio. No reason to go anywhere else!
I love Evolved. I have had two tats and a piercing done there. Jared, Stacey, and Mike are amazing! I thought that I would feel out of place because it is on campus and let's face it, I am not a teenager. They have all made me feel welcome and I will return. They are the utmost professionals.
Review Source:Can't get enough of this place! Friendly employees who can handle whatever it is you're seeking: tattoo, piercing.
It is by campus so parking can be an issue. I found my honey hole though!
However, it's well worth it! If you're needing some art, then this place will have what you want. They have many artists each with different specialties. You can view their portfolios online ahead of time and get an idea of who you should consult with.
I chose traditional Japanese art and Mike Prickett is my artist. He is absolutely a master artist!!
I will get all my tattoos here and with Mike. And that speaks for itself!
Do it! Get inked! And get inked at Evolved!
This was my second tattoo, and for the sheer amount of work I got done here, the price was great. It's a bigger tattoo....whole upper arm.
It's clean, and the artist explains everything they do to ensure hygiene and sterility of their equipment.
I love this place... everyone's cool with you and the professionalism is very noticeable. They don't play around! I've gotten pierced here and so have two of my friends. None of us ever had any issues. Whenever we had any questions or concerns, our piercer has been available to answer. I love the fact that I can recommend this place without hesitation (which I have many of times & I'm doing so now ;)
Review Source:I've only received a piercing here, no tattoos. I thought my piercer, Jared, was very polite, professional, and confident, so that put me at ease. He was repiercing something I had before, so there was a bit of scar tissue. I am only giving Evolved 2 stars because the desk people were not helpful nor friendly, and I waited about 20 minutes before anyone even acknowledged my presence.
Review Source:I would go there for more piercing work but never again to get a tattoo. In the past I have been here for 3 tattoos, 2 piercing's, and some gauge work.
The piercer I had I like her she's great, she did my nipples and made the entire time a delightful experience.
The guy that helped me do my gauge work, is also a great person and did wonderful.
Now for my tattoo's...
The guy was very nice and very helpful. I am not sure if it was him having a heavy hand or what but he did a large piece on my back that took 5 hours to do and after the first 3 the entire thing was an inch high. I did not think anything of it, until I had more work done and my other artist said how it is welted and it has actually scarred. It has been 5 years and it is still a risen tattoo, and the ink has also bleed out a bit. Â I have another tattoo on my leg, much smaller and I am in the process of getting that one covered up as well, because I don't like the meaning and the ink has also bleed out.
I am guessing because the fact that they are located on high st. in the heart of OSU campus is why they over charge. But I did not feel I got my money's worth.
This location is pretty nice. Right in the campus area but kind of tucked away and really easy to miss (I've been here twice and both times I almost walked right by.) The layout is great after you watch that first step as entering the store. I went in mostly looking to find some new gauges. The selection was pretty good but they didn't really seem to have what i was looking for. The guy who was helping me was very nice and did offer to special order stuff if they didn't have it, which is a nice option. But when I'm looking for stones I'm really iffy and picky on them looking similar (which i know it will never be perfect but still) so i opted out on that. I did ask to see how much some 1/2 inch amethyst gauges where, and $40 seems a bit high if you ask me. This location also offers tattoos and sells some local t-shirts too. I'm not against coming to this store but i would more then likely try other places first.
Review Source:I wanted to re-pierce my ears (cartilage) and didn't know where to start, but I definitely didn't want to do the gun-to-the-ear thing (offered at many places in the mall like Claire's, Pagoda, etc).
So I went to seek help and of course, a fellow Yelper comes to my rescue ^__^ - she recommended Evolved - tattoos and piercing studio.
Evolved is located on the second floor at the new location (the older location has a huge sign that prompts you to their new site... yes, I went to the old one and was re-directed). Â Upon entering, I was greeted immediately by one of the staff. Â After confirming my appointment (with Ms. Lindsay Hearts), he took my license to make a copy and asked what kind of jewelry I was looking to pair with my piercing. Â The friendly staff took pity of my confused expression and he kindly went over A LOT of possible options for this type of piercing. Â After I made my decision, he gave me a form to initial and sign my life away. Â He told me it'll be about a 15-minute wait so I decided to look around. Â The studio was really open and spacious; it was really clean and well decorated. Â All the artist I ran into here, coming and going, were really nice - always had a smile to give away ^__^ Â ...or maybe they felt sorry for me because I looked kind of "lost." lol....
Anyways, my time was up and Ms. Lindsay came out to get me; she took me to the back where the artists have their areas to do their work. Â Ms. Lindsay took me to her section, I showed her a picture, and she took it from there. Â First, she explained how they sterilize their equipments and showed me the process. Â Then she poured out some black ink to make the markings on my ear; it looked pretty good. Â She had me lay down with my head turned to the side and like after what it seemed like 2 minutes, she was done. Â Ms. Lindsay prepared me step by step, kindly including the inhalation and exhalation part (which without the reminder, I probably would have held my breath and cause some degree of brain damage, just kidding, but not really..), so there were no surprises. Â She was really gentle, quick, and the precess was nearly painless (umm... I don't know why, but this last description is making me blush o_O;;) Â
Anywhoo, she gave me a mirror for inspection and it looked just the way I wanted it to look :) Â She led me back to the front area, went over post-care instructions, and made sure I didn't walk away with any questions unanswered. Â She's great!! Â I recommend Ms. Lindsay Hearts and Evolved to anybody who is looking to get a piercing. Â
My overall experience at Evolved? Pretty awesome!! I will definitely come back recommend it to everyone o^__^o
