They are clean, I'll give them that. Otherwise, the experience was pretty bad. My fiancé had designed a VERY basic tribal cross... Honestly couldn't get any more basic. It is 6", it took the guy less than 30 minutes... Needless to say, it sucked. The lines are crooked, and the black is super patchy. Never again.

I've had Shannon and Aaron each do work on me and can't say enough about how talented each one is at their craft. I can't recommend Fat Cat Tattoo enough. The shop is very clean, has a welcoming chill vibe that makes it a cool place to hang and get inked up.

I wrote a review in April 2010 that shows up today as an un-posted draft.  Not sure why that is, but since I have this fully written review hanging around, I may as well post it.

I decided to go to Fat Cat for a tongue piercing.  I knew people who had been pierced there before, and they told me the shop did good work.

I was leaning toward maybe going somewhere with much more stellar reviews, but they had a very good deal ($30 for most facial piercings Monday and Wednesday nights) that appealed to me and my starving checking account.

All in all, yes, the man did a good job, and I would say that if you want a well-done piercing for a very good price, this place is just fine for you.

However, I can say that this guy (apparently named Nigel) totally didn't meet my expectations for professionalism.  I had hoped he would have a better bedside manner and less of a snide, condescending attitude.

I'm sure it was largely due to arriving at 9:45, 15 min before closing, that he was acting ticked off.  I did call beforehand to confirm that it was alright with them and they'd be there when I arrived.  Somehow he thought that that entitled him to treating me like a mindless piece of flesh, whose words were irrelevant.

I was very disappointed in how he responded to me.

I politely and calmly explained, "I got very nervous on the drive over here, so before you start everything, could you just walk me through what you're about to do so I don't freak out or anything?"
    "That's what I'm DOING."
"Oh, okay... the thingies [clamps which he obviously intended to use within mere moments] kind of scared me."
    "Yeah.  CLAMPS."
    "Right..."
    "Stick out your tongue."

Yes, he did define his actions seconds before executing them.  Yes he seems to have done a good job (although he never asked about the placement like I was expecting, he just picked what he thought was best); my tongue is looking okay.  But NO, he did not explain the aftercare worth SHIT.  [Luckily, I'm one to do my homework on these things, and didn't have to rely on his so-called 'education']

"Wash it out with mouthwash that is alcohol-free, eat soft foods.  Most people eat things like mashed potatoes or macaroni and cheese; it's thirty dollars."

Maybe I'm too picky, or I was simply imagining the rude attitude and lack of concern for the client (my friend didn't seem to notice, but then again, it wasn't her tongue in his hands)...  Anyway, it was far, far different than the prior experience of mine with an extremely skilled and professional piercer in L.A.  The only reason I gave 3 instead of 2 stars is that I had no serious complications, so it was apparently done accurately enough, and he didn't overtly insult me (just vaguely through tone of voice, impatience, implied lack of respect), and most importantly it was affordable (and they did stay 'til closing for my late self, which I know could alter an employee's mood).

[After all this time I can say that it healed permanently crooked, which is only noticeable when I stick my tongue out, but it's then at a roughly 45-degree angle which is far from ideal, and is undoubtedly a result of him not caring.]

You'd probably do fine to go to them, even to this particular piercer.  But if the things I count in evaluating them (bedside manner, LISTENING to the person about to be pierced, etc.) count to you as well... you've been warned.

Did a ton of research on a tattoo shop before I got my first one done...this place seemed legit, clean, had good word on the street and the artists knew what they were talking about. At the shop there are many artists who do a variety of work. I  recommended the Carmichael Fat Cat to a couple friends who got work done, and they were all happy and satisfied.

I have gotten over 10 tattoos from 3 different artists and I have been ecstatic with every one. I have found an artist that I like to work with, Nick Mynes, who ALWAYS does flawless work. He is patient about drawing out the tattoo, changing the lettering, or being flexible with any other requests. I will NEVER go to another tattoo artist, this guy is absolutely amazing on every level possible. No matter what you need done, I would go to this guy and see if he has what you're looking for.

You get what you pay for, and at this place you get a bitchin' tattoo for a pretty reasonable price. I promise you will be happy if you decide to go with the Carmichael Fat Cat for your future tattoo.

I got my navel pierced here yesterday by Jonny. He was very nice, patient, explained everything. And apparently they have a piercing special on Mon and Wed so it was only $35! He was great, so I tipped him the difference. (Normally $50 or $60 - not sure what the difference is between those two prices. I didn't ask.)
Most importantly it was clean, fast, and didn't hurt much at all!
The selection of jewelry is limited but they had the clear gem barbell that I wanted so I didn't care. Jonny only does piercing, which I also found comforting that this was his specialty and not just what he does when he doesn't have anyone to tattoo. :)

I have been to numerous tattoo shops throughout California over the past 10 years. I first visited Shannon at Fat Cat two years ago to get a large piece done. He did an amazing job! I went back again last week to see Shannon, this time about a cover-up. I had little idea of what I wanted when I went in, I just knew I wanted something traditional. Shannon brainstormed some ideas with me, and I went in a few days later to get it started. I knew it was going to be great, but was still shocked at the level of work he did. I only have the outline so far, and can't wait to get it filled in later this month. I highly recommend FAT CAT TATTOO. Everyone in this shop is super chill, and very professional. Shannon is a super talented guy and does awesome work!

Expensive but damn good. Got 2 tattoos done here and loved them both! Great shading, very very very clean crisp lines and just wonderful tattooers. They even touched up a tattoo for me when I was careless and decided to wear tight jeans over a fresh tattoo. Bad idea. I scraped off parts of the tattoo so it ended up looking faded at parts. No worries though cause they touched it up for me for free!

Got my lip pierced here too. Clean shop!

Fat Cats is where I have had most of my tattoos done, actually all of them except for one. I have had my tongue pierced here, my belly button and ears numerous amount of times.

Billy Wang did my first tattoo behind my left ear, it's a gray star with a yin & yang symbol in the center. I described it to him and he drew it on the spot and I left very satisfied. Mark, did my second tattoo of an angel girl with wings wrapped around her face. He redrew this tattoo different than what I envisioned however I was much happier with his version. Lastly, Francesco helped me pick out and redraw the two birds on my lower back. He was very patient and helped me get what I wanted on each hip.

I have even brought my daughter here for her labret piercing. It came out a hair crooked but it's completely unnoticeable unless you are looking for it. There is just a few issues that I have with this place like the jewelry is small in selection and really not that great and it's a bit over priced in some regards. However, I know that I am going to get what I want and have never been dissatisfied here. :)
