Well lets start off with this, dont judge the book by its cover. Its when you get inside that you realize that the place has an awesome atmosphere. And the artist's are awesome. Always on point. You got Tony,Ron and Sean. Everyone thinks that they do strictly traditional, which is not the case, they do all kinds of style, but yes they rock the shit out of traditonal. Everyone has there own style in the shop, just find the one that best fits you.

The shop is very clean. With great professional attitude, why wouldnt you want to come and check it out.

So if youre interested in a tattoo, stop by and talk to them..

I got my tattoo done by Tony. He was very professional and nice! My tattoo was a little different from his usual style but that didn't bother him at all - he did an awesome job! I would recommend this shop to anyone who wants to get some quality work done.

My wife got a new tattoo here about two months ago.  The artist at first seemed a bit concerned that he wouldn't be able to get the colors right, but he a great job mixing and shading around the words she wanted on her shoulder.  Very clean shop, nicely decorated, good prices and quality art.  Still looks great today and the red shading he suggested behind the wording looks great now.  The artist's name was Devin.  He made her a bit nervous in the beginning because he wasn't sure he could do it.  If it wasn't for that, 5 stars.

I have been looking at getting a tattoo for the past couple of year's. I moved to Carson City about a year ago and started looking at shops in Reno and Carson for the past couple of months. I visited a few shops and decided to go to Flat Black Tattoo for several reasons:

    1) I like the set up they have. Very open and clean areas. I had been hearing a lot about shops reusing or pouring ink back into bottles when done, increasing the risk of contracting hepatitis or some other infection/disease. Flat Black uses little cups for their ink and throws away any unused ink when they are done, which was a huge plus for me.

    2) Ron, who was my tattoo artist, had good ideas about what I wanted. I walked in knowing what I wanted and where I wanted it, just didn't have a design or clue what it would look like. Ron gave several suggestions and comments on where or how it would look for several different designs I was looking at. Things I would never have thought of when thinking of the placement of the tattoo.

    3) This is a biggie for me also...the shop wasn't "commercialized." I have walked into several parlors where it seemed like they had too many things going on (i.e. tattooing, selling items to promote their shops, etc.). It was more for show than the actual art of tattooing. You walk into Flat Black and know they are serious artists. They aren't out to make extra money on things other than the art of tattooing. I really like that about them.

I am definitely going back to Flat Black for my next tat. And, of course, now my boyfriend wants another one. He is planning on going to Flat Black also. I am so glad I found this place.
