This was my first tattoo and the employees of Full Circle Tattoo made it the best it could be. Everybody was friendly and welcoming, the shop was clean and relaxed, and they were very informational and thorough. Michelle did my tattoo and did an excellent job at that, awesome line work and shading. I would, and already have, instantly recommend this as the first place to go to get work done. Thanks for the great experience and great tattoo

It's been half a year since I got my very first tattoo here. The place was smaller than I expected but cozy nonetheless. I had a very specific design that I wanted and was assigned to James. He listened well and came up with a great design. I also added another letter design as well. I got one on My upper right shoulder and one on my left forearm.  The over all experience was good. He talked with me and constantly asked if I was okay. Great place! Highly recommend

a while back I had my first two (and currently my only two) tattoos done here by the lovely and talented Gemma.
She is amazing!  As an artist, she is really tops! Check out her work online and you will see why I admire her. All her work looks so crisp, clear and geometric.
The studio itself is nice too, it was mellow and everyone there treated me great.  I am happy with my experience and the end result, and I am pleased that Gemma was honest with me about my expectations. And that she made both tattoos look exactly identical on both ankles, the placement is nicely balanced. For something on two different limbs, that perfect symmetry really makes the design look nice. The only minor negative things in my whole experience were that although I tried my best to follow the care instructions, my tattoos didnt heal well initially, but Gemma was happy to repair it for no additional charge. Which was awesome, since it was like she had to redo one of the ankles design all over again, as it seemed the ink peeled right out of all the outlined parts during healing. (I had no idea it could even do that!)

Also, when I first came to meet her, I brought a sorta girly magazine with a pic of what I liked,  to illustrate an example of what I had in mind. But she seemed really put out by the fact that I was showing her that type of magazine. I was suprised she was so turned off by it, I mean I didnt know how else to show her what I had in mind. Maybe I wasnt supposed to do that, and it was poor ettiquete on my behalf? If so, I apologize :)    It was a kind of magazine that portrays women really sexually, and it could be offensive to some. I know my design was nothing really original, but its what I wanted and the magazine I brought along had a pretty good pic that represented the size, overall look and placement I was going for.  Over all, I completely recommend her as an artist! she was careful and very focused and made me feel really confident in her.
I think maybe she is much more into creating her own unique designs, perhaps not so much of a structured, pre-set design that I came to her with. I have actually seen other people around town with work from her and it is stunning!  I would like to see her again, and this time, with a more open idea and let her interpret it and form the design ideas herself.
    Thank you Gemma!

Very disappointed. So I decided to search for a place with a good rep and all that and based on the reviews went to full circle.   One guy could not make an appointment until Dec, and this being June I was kinda shocked. He brought someone who could schedule me for Sat, and this being Tuesday I was ok with giving him time to draw what I wanted. This included a cover up of a tat I have. He looked at my tat, made a trace and I left a deposit only to email me two days later telling me that what I asked for couldn't be done and that he didn't want to rush his work just to slap a tattoo on me. I was very excited to get this cover up done, and time was a huge factor. I was willing to pay whatever these high scale shops would charge and was completely open to the tattoo artist's ideas... but basically I wasted time, not only in both trips since I had to go back for my refund, but most importantly I did not ever get treated with the supportive approach I was hoping for from an artist. I assume that this happens when tattoo shops get big headed, and feel that the customers are there to accommodate them. I miss the days when I walked into a shop and felt that people wanted your business and where willing to work with you AND NOT CANCEL due to their inability to deliver. I suppose I should be thankful that I did not get tatted there, but honestly I was very excited and had rearranged my time and budget for our previously agreed deal :-/

I am glad there are many great reviews, but felt I should bring balance to my customer experience there.

I was tattoo parlor shopping with a friend to get my first tattoo and hers added to.  We stopped at Full Circle because of its great Yelp reviews, and they had an open spot with James, so after some leafing through his portfolio and a cup of tea at Cafe Madeline while he sketched, we stopped searching.

James was super great.  He had me e-mail him my design, he traced it, placed it, I readjusted the spot, and then he went to work.  It only took about 20 minutes and I'm THRILLED with the result.

My friend's was a little more complicated because she was adding to an existing tattoo but I really love how it turned out.

He charged me the minimum and just a little more for my friend because he had to actually design around her existing tattoo.

The shop itself is clean, cool, and full of friendly people with some great ink.

I really do like this place I got my first and only tattoo here. The people are amazingly friendly and its really clean. I got a small cross on my arm. I had to go back a secong time because it looked horrible, the tattoo artist who did it agreed lol. They were more than willing to fix it for no charge and was polite about the whole situation. After it was fully healed I examined it very carefully. Now that its fully healed you can still see errors. I would go back here if I was getting a large tattoo, but not for a small one.

Love this place! The artist and atmosphere are both of the highest quality! James Tran is my regular guy, but I have been tempted by the other amazing artists who flourish here... If you want it done right the first time, head on over and you will not be disappointed.

    I love this tattoo shop!

I've only had one tattoo done here so far but I am SO happy with the results.  I get compliments on it all the time.  I have two other tattoos but they look like crap compared to my new tattoo, lol.

I went to Gemma, who is a really great artist.  It was a small tattoo so I sent her a picture of what I wanted and set the appointment.  I was so nervous because I hadn't seen what she had drawn up yet.  But as soon as she came over to me and said hi I immediately felt relieved.  She showed me the drawing and it was perfect!  Gemma has a very calm demeanor and made me feel very relaxed and excited to get tattooed!  She is also not afraid to give her opinion on the tattoo.  I originally wanted to get it on my right arm but she convinced me to get it on the left arm near my other tattoo and I'm glad I trusted her.

I will be going back to get another tattoo from Gemma in a few months and I can't wait!  This shop is very clean and professional.  From what I can tell the other artists are amazing too.  This is  a great place to get tattooed!

James was great. I came in with a little drawing and he perfected it. He also did a great job touching up an older tattoo from another artist and they all look outstanding!  I would totally visit Full Circle Tattoo and James again!

Had a 3/4 sleeve done for my first tattoo. Waited 4 long years before deciding to have it done, spending 3 of those years looking for the right artist to do it. After looking all over San Diego, LA, OC, I would always find myself looking at Bill Canales portfolio. Finally decided to pull the trigger and couldn't have been more satisfied with his work.

I gave him the idea and told him to just make it his own, giving him 100% freedom on the design and color. The sleeve turned out better then I could have ever imagined. Everything from his line work to the shading was on point. He has years of experience and has traveled all over the world making him a really easy person to talk to and relate with.

You always hear horror stories of shops having artist that are drunk or high when they tattoo clients, but you'll never get that here. His staff is always profession and polite, making the whole atmosphere of the shop welcoming and fun. And the shop is always clean.

You simply just don't find artists like Bill or anyone of his other artists or other staff members in other tattoo shops. There aren't any egos or drama at Full Circle Tattoo.  Just highly talented tattoo enthusiasts that want to share their talents and skills.

These guys are FUCKING AWESOME! I decided I'd get a tattoo after 10 years after my 1st one. I drew one out, went on a random day and got it then and there. My artist was James Tran, and he did exceptional work. He improved upon my design, and then some. It looks better than I ever imagined. Better yet, it's of my own design and I will never see anything like it ever. I drew out another tattoo and went like 2 days ago and got it done then and there. James, again, was my artist. He obviously did exceptional work yet again. I am very pleased. He turned my designs in to something he and I could work with. Again, since it's something I drew out on my own, I will probably never see anything like it again. James is an outstanding artist and a very friendly guy. He and I had a lot in common since he was once in the Navy doing the same job I'm doing now.

The establishment itself is very low key. It's understated, and the receptionist, Monica, is friendly. It's different from most other 'stereotypical' tattoo parlors. There's a very different vibe in this place and the interior design of their establishment is has a very Asian feel to it. Very apt since that's what they specialize in. It's also very, very clean, and each artist has their own workspace. They are very organized. I had drawn my own tattoos, so I'm not sure how they go about turning people's vague ideas into tattoos, but I have no doubt they do exceptional work in that regard.

It's unfortunate I'm moving out of the state. However, when I decide to get more tattoos, I will have to take a vacation to San Diego and pay a visit to Full Circle. These guys are that good. They have a lifelong customer.

BOOM! Full circle impresses yet again.

I know too many people with too many bad ass tattoos to not get one of my many planned pieces here and I am beyond happy with my decision. I called last monday to make an appt for a consult...generally you dont need to make appointments for consults however i showed up a few weeks back on a friday at 630 and they were inexplicably closed so I opted for a phone call. Dude on the phone was more than pleasant and asked if I could swing in the next day to meet with a guest artist who would be in town until the following saturday. I did. Joaquin was cool, friendly, laid back and most importantly, talented as shit. He got me in that friday and I now have a pretty rad feather on my forearm.

Fantastic artists and a great atmosphere!

I had a piece done on my calf and lower leg by James, and it really turned out awesome!  This was my first tattoo in about twelve years, I have wanted one for a while, just couldn't nail down what I wanted it to be.  I chose to have a rather large (I have gianormous calves) sea turtle with a bottle nose dolphin on it's back as well as two smaller sea turtles to signify my two children. James did a fantastic job of placement and resizing, I could not ask for more!  Will return this summer to get some more work done on my leg by James.

After waiting a little bit over a month (he was booked for a good month!), I finally went in for a second session with Henry for my Koi wrap. My appointment was scheduled for 12:30pm on Friday (they open at 12pm). I got there at around 12:20pm and after checking out how well my tattoo healed, Henry was ready to go and started working on my arm once it hit 12:30. Not only did he finish the windbars to my wrap, but he also touched up a few areas that healed a bit weird (scarred a bit - and no I did not pick the scabs!). It was a good session; we knocked out the rest of the wrap (about 30-40%) in about 2.5 hours. During this time, we had a good talk about several aspects of life: family, women, pets, and instagram (hah!). It's amazing how the process of tattooing connects you with the artist (I mean, shit, you're on their chair for how many hours!?). He's really an awesome guy, not only in his art work, but he has some interesting stories to tell.

After 2.5 hours, Henry cleaned me up and we went outside to snap some photos. Check out his instagram; it has some amazing work!

Another added plus is that Henry takes credit card, I don't know many tattoo shops that take payments other than cash, weed, or Craiglists items.

Full Circle Tattoo; you will forever be my go-to-spot for any future body art! Your good vibes, talented crew, and reasonable prices have won me as a loyal customer.

+1 for the cool, retro Singer sewing machine tables.

I was referred by a friend to this place because I wanted some traditional artwork. Let me just say James Tran is an amazing artist! I have a bunch of different artwork already from the east coast but was a bit hesitant on finding the right shop. He has a great understanding of the history of traditional art as well , hes not your typical trace artist . The shop is very clean which should be a standard for all shops but let me tell you its not always the case. James actually drew a few options and was ready to go when I arrived and he seemed stoked to do the piece ! From a person who has a bunch of tattoos I give this place 5 stars based on my experience with many places.
Oh and James even hit me up a few days later to see how it was healing which I thought was cool! Full Circle Tattoo is very professional !! Thanks Guys! I will be back!

It has been almost 6 years since my last tattoo and I knew I wanted to try a different shop for many reasons. I emailed Full Circle Tattoo to see when I could come in and within two days, I received an email from Bill. I am excited when he informs me to come in anytime to check the place out for a consultation. I came in and was kindly greeted. For the time/date I was hoping to get everything done, a guest artist, Jacob, was available. Initially, I was hesitant since I didn't see any of his work yet, but decided to give him a shot... No regrets! After just arriving in San Diego, Jacob decided to swing by the shop to see/chat with me about what I wanted and see how much time to allot for my session... How awesome is that? I am incredibly happy with the results. Everything turned out so much better than I imagined. Also, Jacob is now a regular artist at Full Circle!

Other notes: The place is clean and inviting (smells great). Everyone there seems pleasant. As stated on their website, an appointment requires a CASH deposit.

I've always imagined tattoo parlors to be scary, dark, piercings on everyone everywhere.

When I walked into Full Circle tattoo, I was surprised by what I saw. First it's located in a cute little area in South Park. It's right next to a cute restaurant (a restaurant I actually went to recently). You walk in and it's extremely clean and well lit. There's pictures of tattoos but selective and tasteful. You can even smell how clean this place is.

We were immediately assisted by a girl and told her what we were looking for. Decided to get a tattoo with my sister for our 25th birthday. It's not my first tattoo so it wasn't my first rodeo. She went to get the tattoo artist and we just showed him what we wanted.

James Tran was extremely honest with us about our tattoos and our expectations of our tattoos. We originally wanted a tattoo and the word "sisters" in the middle but given how small the tattoo is and its location, he recommended that it wasn't a good idea since the lettering would probably end up smushing together.

He drew it up, gave us a reasonable size (we wanted thin lines and a little smaller than what the picture was) and started on the tattoo! He cleaned off everything very well. All in all the tattoo took me about probably 15 minutes and prob 10 minutes for my sister. Pricing was definitely pleasantly less than I had expected. He talked to us and our friends during the whole thing and just made the experience extremely personable.

Tattoo is doing great and I can't wait to start wearing cute shoes and show it off! Thanks James Tran and co! :)

What a cute little place!  Most tattoo places are kind of creepy and dark and with really bright white lights but this place is a gem compared to the others.  It's decorated enough that you wouldn't question if it's a good tattoo place or not but not overly done to scare people of.  CLASSY is what comes to mind. :)  I had James Tran who did my tattoo.  This is my second one and I got a matching one with my twin sister.

We had this idea of a tattoo of what we wanted it to look like and wanted it on the inside of our feet.  James was very honest in telling us whether it'd be a good idea or not even though it meant that we might not get the tattoo at all and I think that that shows a lot of respect.  We wanted the tattoo to say sisters but the size would be too small and the letters could potentially end up blurring together.

The tattoo didn't take long to do at all, very simple but very elegant, James was very thorough in what he was doing and he had a good sense of humor, we were like friends just kidding around the whole time! :)

I would highly recommend this place to anyone getting a tattoo, first timer or not.  They just have exceptional service and are very very very reasonably priced.  James is awesome, I would go back again if I ever decide on my next tattoo!

Cool, clean spot with relaxing atmosphere and cool staff.  I've had several sittings with Henry Gae.  His specialty is Japanese traditional but he's definitely not limited to that (he's actually working on a cool outerspace Lady Guadalupe of Mars for me).  He's easygoing, funny, and more importantly, his work is tight.

Head over to South Park and check this shop out.  You won't be disappointed.  If you happen to sit down with Henry, ask him about how he used the term "full circle" when referring to Richard Gere.  Dude is funny.

My friend and I got our first tattoos here done two days ago as walk-ins - neither of us had appointments and it was our first time in South Park. It was probably more than a little obvious that we didn't have much tattoo knowledge, but ALL the employees were kind, respectful, and made us feel welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere was inviting, the art on the walls was magnificent, the music playing in the background was excellent... the ambience here is the best. THE PLACE EVEN SMELLS AMAZING (srsly tho).

Monica (she was at the front desk) was very helpful and welcoming, and she was extremely patient with me as I was figuring out the final details of my tattoo... I got my tattoo done by James, and my friend had Chris. JAMES is AMAZING and incredibly humble and down-to-earth; I was a little nervous and fidgety beforehand but his presence made me relaxed. I AM SO HAPPY with my tattoo-- it's absolutely perfect! Even though my friend's tattoo was going to take at least 1-2 hours and we just showed up at the shop randomly, Chris gave up all his free time (and also his lunch break) before his next client in order to take care of my friend, and told us his honest artistic opinion about my friend's design. He's trustworthy, friendly, and BRILLIANT.

Basically: TRUST THESE GUYS, they know what they're talking about. They really have the customer's best interests at heart rather than their own. I got something very, very simple and it only took ~30 min, but the staff made me feel important and cared for regardless of the size or complexity of what I wanted. That meant a lot to me.

I'm so grateful to James and everyone at the shop for making this experience so memorable! Getting my first tattoo was a really significant experience for me and I can't imagine getting it done anywhere else. I'm definitely coming back. GO HERE. These artists are passionate, dedicated, and TALENTED. FULL CIRCLE IS THE DEFINITION OF 5 STARS, THIS IS WHERE YOU WANT TO GO.

OMG, Love this place! I just got my tat last night and am sooo enthusiastically happy with it! Gemma is a real Gem! She knows her craft and is a true artist (as do the other artist there based on their work I saw on the walls, but I haven't personally gotten any work done by them so I can't speak for them).

I gave her what I wanted and she turned it into beautiful artwork I never even thought it could be.  Not only her talent is to brag about but she was also very personable which made me more comfortable and put my nerves at ease.

They are well worth every dollar and cent! I would definitely go back to here again!

I wanted to wait until my new tattoo was fully healed before reviewing this place, it has been 6 DAYS since I got it and already its fully healed! This place is straight up professional.

I walked in to set up my appointment not knowing what to expect. The staff was friendly and welcoming. I had a design already created and simply wanted to find someone to put it on me. The guy at the front took one look at it said Gemma was who I wanted, he even gave me a portfolio of her work for me to look over, and I agreed so I set up the appointment.

The day of my appointment, I walked in and she was already set for me and everything went smoothly. Gemma is probably the fastest and most efficient artist I've ever seen. It was a total of 40 minutes from walking in to walking out for a detailed dollar-sized tat.

The only drawbacks: I had to wait over a month for my appointment, but that just means their really popular, and Gemma wasn't the most social person, but her work speaks loud and clear. I'm definitely making this place my spot for work.

I think this is the best , most welcoming shop in San Diego. I have been tattooed by James and Chris and have received excellent art both times. The "reception guy" Christian ,after I was talking to him about my work in Africa, donated two tshirts (on behalf of the shop? Not sure who I owe undying gratitude?) for us take to our village where an American shirt is highly valued and we ship clothes regularly.

I 'll be back should something else speak to me as a design .

Bill is as professional as they come, and I am very glad to be able to have my work done by him.  I have been back to see Bill 11 times already, and do not plan on stopping anytime soon, especially since my left arm feels a little naked in comparison to my right.

I don't normally write many reviews here on yelp...I just use them when I need to. So where do I begin?!

I'm from the greater Seattle area and my boyfriend and I were planning a trip to San Diego back in February. He was doing some research on some shops/artists before that and stumbled upon Full Circle...and THANK GOD he did! I called them 2 weeks before my trip to work something out and they were generous enough to fit us in...better yet, reserve the whole day with an artist, while we were there! And my awesome artist was Henry. He's freakin' amazing!! I came in with an example of how my desired tattoo was made up in my mind and he drew his own idea into PERFECTION. So artistic and without a doubt the best decision I've ever made coming there. Reasonably priced and a shop with a good vibe. I was totally comfortable whole he was working on me and he's such a cool/cooperative guy. Thanks Henry!!! I'll make sure to come back to SD and get a touch-up from you!

Just got my birthday tattoo today and could not be happier! I hardly ever review any place on yelp but this place (and artist Hendo) deserves praise. The ambiance of the space is awesome--really fun and hip but not in a overly hipster sort of way. I also dig the music-a little bit of all the best stuff. The staff was really sweet. Made me feel comfortable and welcomed- a relief to me as this was only my second ink.

Hendo is rad! He did my ink and helped me with the design and placement. I trusted his judgment, and I am glad I did. He took his time to make sure it turned out perfect.  His work is awesome and he is really passionate about what he does. Get your next ink from him, you'll be happy you did.

A great experience overall. The perfect birthday gift. I will definitely be returning for more as well as pushing my friends to this spot and Hendo.

    Thanks Full Circle!

I came here for a consult and I didn't even have to think about. I dropped my deposit and anxiously waited for my day to come. I got my work done by Gemma. I hate it when artists don't listen to their clients. She definitely listens but also puts in her experience to make sure your piece is going to be beautiful. She is so patient and nice. She works so quick and effortlessly. I have nothing but great things to say about Gemma's work and personality.

The work of the other artist's is also amazing. I have yet to see an original piece that I didn't like from the shop. Everyone there is very friendly.

Who has two thumbs and an awesome tattoo??......This gal!

Yup, I got another tattoo from Gemma.  I've been wanting a koi fish swimming upstream for a while (Japanese legend--if the koi can swim upstream and get through the waves and up to the gate, he turns into a dragon).  Unfortunately, koi fish are usually large tattoos, and I didn't want a big back piece or anything like that.  I was hoping it could fit on the inside of my lower arm.  Luckily, Gemma is a miracle worker, and she designed the PERFECT tattoo for me!  It took 2 hours, hurt like hell, and I almost cried (which I never do), but it looks perfect.  I am absolutely thrilled with it.  I originally wanted all black and white, but Gemma suggested red for the gate (traditionally, Japanese gates, Torii, are red), and I took her advice.  I am very glad I did, because the red really pops and makes it clear what my tattoo is representing.

Everyone at Full Circle is extremely friendly, and Gemma knows exactly what she's doing.  I absolutely love this place, and when my Fiance finally gets the tattoo he wants, I'll make sure he comes here :)

I wanted to provide an update since I had the privilege of getting some custom ink performed by Gemma and have a couple more appointments in the books from the first tattoo being so masterfully completed by Bill Canales.

Just an FYI, I am in the process of completing a large back-piece from Bill and then I have some really cool concepts for some asian-themed work on my chest and upper thigh areas that I want him to do after my back is finished.

I first approached Gemma about having a custom tat on my upper arm that is all black and grey after viewing her work on Full Circles website as well as pics and information she has on her own sites. She has a very unique style of her own and has a really cool personality.

My back is being done 3-4 hours at a time, so I have the occasion to work in some appointments for my arms and ribcage areas. I wasn't quite sure exactly what I wanted on my upper arm and reviewed my ideas with Gemma during our consultation. With just some basic information and input on my end, she used her artistic ability to put my vague ideas to fruition. I am very happy I afforded her with the artistic freedom to use her natural talent.

Once it came to put these concepts to reality, I had a really great experience and can't believe how well Gemma did from start to finish. I arrived a little early for appointment after having some good food at a local establishment near Full Circle's location. As I mentioned in my initial review, a lot of artist and tattoo parlors act like they are doing you a favor. While I was waiting for Gemma to get set up, Henry (another great artist who works there) came up and said good morning and had a cool conversation with me. The entire staff is customer centric.

Gemma is a consummate professional as well and I was really jazzed after my new tattoo was complete. She has a really nice touch and great taste in music too! She played a Motown medley during my appointment and it made the time fly by. My new tat took only about 3 hours to complete and I could not be happier. She is very focused as she works, yet is willing to converse depending on the desires of the client.

I have now spent several hours getting inked at Full Circle and again and again witness the professionalism they display to the many people who "walk-in" off the street as well as the suppliers and long time customers they deal with on a regular basis. You cannot put a price on happiness and tattoos are something you have to do your research on because they are a strong personal statement.

I am so happy with my new ink from Gemma that I have already made another appointment to have my other shoulder done. I have already provided her with info on some Tibetan scripture that I want on my rib cages and she is thrilled about adding to my portfolio. Can't wait to have her utilize her unique style and for Bill to finish my back!

Considering I have over 40 hours worth of ink on my body, I feel I can provide honest and accurate feedback. Full Circle will have my business for many years to come. Since tattooing is a very personal experience do yourself a favor if you are going to get inked. Don't just trust anyone to something that is so permanent and that makes such a personal statement about yourself. Check out the artist at Full Circle and you will happy you did.

First off, they are moving to South Park in August of 2011.  Keep that in mind before you make an appointment.  But if it's a farther drive for you, it will be worth it.

My back is still smarting from my artwork I got today.  And it was well worth it.  First off, my artist Henry is amazing.  He took my request and added his own personality to it.  The template he produced is something I would never imagine.  And though it took over an hour to do, it felt like less as we were chatting the whole time, though I wasn't exactly comfortable hehe.  I highly recommend him and would not hesitate to use him again.

The shop itself was clean, professional, safe, and not sleazy by any means.  I felt good coming in when making my initial appointment.  Everyone seemed to know what they were doing.  A friend recently used Gemma for her first tattoo as well and was very happy as well.

A tattoo is something that stays for life.  Do some good research first.  Make sure you include this place on your list.

Yesterday I got my 5th tattoo, my last 2 have both been done by Tomas. I couldn't be happier with his work. Last year I got a jolly rogers tattoo by him. I was nervous to use an artist I didn't know, but he took my drawing and made it so much better. When it was time for another tattoo (yesterday) I went back to him, getting a couple palm trees with an SD. Again, I went to him with the idea and he perfected it and did an amazing job.

I'd recommend Tomas to any of my friends/family. He's really down to earth amd cares about what you want. Great experience.

I realize my rating is not the norm for this place but I have my reasons. I went here because a friend of mine told me Cash Scott was the  best. So I took her advice and called him. He said he liked to meet people prior to tattooing them so they could see his work.  He told me a date and time to come by the shop and when I showed up the shop was closed.

A few of the other artists were preparing so one of them came to the door. I explained Cash made an appointment with me and his reply was ''Oh he is eating with his girlfriend across the street.'' So he went over to remind him of the appointment he made (not to tattoo just to show his work and made a tattoo appointment) and he was like ''Oh well I forgot.''

Against my best judgment I still made a tattoo appointment with him for once my husband returned from deployment. Honestly, I would have walked away but my friend knows him personally I know her well enough to know she wouldn't send me somewhere that would do horrible work.

Once he got my money from booking the appointment I only heard from him once. To change the date and time.

He never responded to voicemails, messages, or e-mails.  I sent him the general idea of what we wanted tattooed in Latin and he never even bothered to say he received it or give us suggestions on what could be done to make it look the best.

Overall once Cash Scott gets your money for the appointment don't expect to hear from him again. I hope he takes the money he stole from me and buys a book on manors. Or a date book would be helpful so he stops making appointments he doesn't show up for.

I went elsewhere and the guy had tons of great suggestions. He did multiple drawings so we could see what looked best.

So basically Cash is a must go to guy! Not only is he amazing!!! But he will keep you entertained as he jams the tattoo needles into you repetitively (which is what your asking for). He is super tentative to your wants and a super creative guy. He will come up with a piece that is 20x better than what u had planned in your head.  Give his creativity freedom and he won't disappoint. Needless to say I've got my artist set for life unless he chooses a random career curve then we are gonna need to have a chat. I hope this helps u see cash is uh-maze-ing!!!

P.s. I don't know who the crazy Victoria lady is talking about cause there is no way it's my cash! Maybe she Is crazy? Who knows? But her description of cash and the shop is the comPlete opposite of what they really are. Come see these artistic professionals :-)

    Yours truly,

I was tattooed by Dominic sometime last year. I left with a tattoo that leaves much to be desired. In fact, I'd say it is on par with tattoos I got like 15 years ago (and it even looks aged like something I got 15 years ago.) The ink is hazy. The colors are nasty. The lines aren't clean. AND it took forever to heal. I am heavily tattooed and this tattoo took longer by about 2 months to heal than any other tattoo I have gotten. Overall, I'm totally underwhelmed and disappointed that I entrusted my foot to him. Unfortunately, it isn't even something that I could cover up if I wanted to.

So, the tattoo studio might be good, the other artists might be good, but I can't recommend Dominic and I have gone elsewhere to fulfill my tattoo needs.

I had some lettering done on the back of my neck by Ca$h.  Very streamlined process, it was easy making the appointment and when I showed up he was ready for me.  Really nice guy, turned out I worked at the same place as his girlfriend.

Practically painless, and healed very quickly.  It looks great and I've gotten a ton of compliments on it.

I got my 2nd tattoo by Tomas, who did an amazing job.  He explained to me how my design would lose a lot of detail if I put it on my arm since we'd have to resize it, so we decided to put it on my back and I must say I absolutely love it.  It took three sessions to complete and I feel was worth every cent I spend, which was quite a lot.
IF I hadn't quit my job, I would be continuing to get tattoos only from Full Circle.  Great staff, clean, new atmosphere.  This place rocks!  And it's in OB not PB which gives it 7 stars to me.

I have been planning on getting another tattoo, but I had moved away from my tattoo artist in Northern California about a year and a half ago, so I have been searching ever since for a new artist.

A couple weeks ago I was referred by a friend to Gemma Pariente at Full Circle. I emailed her telling her I would like to chat about my tattoo and she promptly responded the same day, and told me to come and see her.

When I met with her she was very friendly, relaxed, and realistic, and gave great input on my rather vague suggestions; and in a couple days had drawn up a piece that incorporated my ideas perfectly but was far better than what I had originally suggested to her.

She did an amazing job in our first session, and I can't wait to go back for some color; and hope to get more work done by her in the future.

Also of note, the shop in general is by far the most relaxed and friendly atmosphere I have ever experienced in a tattoo parlor (much more friendly than my last place), no attitude and a friendly, funny and helpful staff. A+

Look no further...Full Circle is where it's at!

Lucky me for choosing FC to get my very first tattoo. I was immediately (and warmly) greeted by James and Henry after stepping foot in the door. Way to squash my perception that most artists and shop employees are complete dOuChEbAgS!

I am beyond pleased with my overall experience in working with the one and only Henry a.k.a. Hendo. Not only is he talented, but he is also extremely patient and attentive (charming, funny and HOT...ooh wee...super SwOoN...J/K!). I came to him with a simple concept and ended up with a beautiful design that I love!

I go in for the second session for tattoo #2 in a little over a week. It is much larger in scale and the placement is in a not so fun area (ribcage) but he made me feel so comfortable that I pretty much forgot about how uncomfortable it was. I can't wait to see the finished product!

I think I'm hooked....sorry mom and dad. Wouldn't be opposed to getting inked by another artist at Full Circle but HeNdO is my first choice!!!

I got my tat here quite awhile ago and recently got my hubby here too. I always want something original so this place definitely helps make that happen. The artist who did my shoulder tat is no longer there, but he was already traveling between SD and Fullerton so I'm not shocked by that and that's ok cause everyone else here does awesome work :)

My hubs got tatted by Hendo (Henry). Took a couple sessions and he got a sort of 1/3ish sleeve of a dragon that that wraps around his arm with the head on his chest. VERY NICE PIECE!! I definitely recommend this place to others. They are clean, fun, and do awesome work here. I'm already planning for my next few tats that I want and this is definitely the place I will go to get them done!!

Love Full Ciricle. And not only because I harbor a serious school girl crush on Henry. I swear !

I've gotten two tattoos done here (one by Cash, the other by Henry), and both artists were really lovely to work with. I came in knowing what I wanted, and left feeling awesome knowing that my work had been done by guys who made me feel comfortable and relaxed -- and didn't blow me off because I wanted simple tattoos. What is it with those assholes who do that ?

Definitely miles above the service, help, and respect I've gotten at the other tattoo shops I've gotten work done at in San Diego (Superfly and Church of Steel -- UGH !). They artists are nice, laid back, and ridiculously talented.

The whole shop in general is really friendly, and they actually care about each of their clients... super humble, super respectful, & very, very talented. Prices are very reasonable; they're truly in it for the art.

I came here for my first tattoo, & was super nervous, but Henry took great care of me, answered all my questions & reassured me the whole time. Loooved the way it came out. I gave him a couple drawings & told him my ideas...  I wasn't getting anything complicated, but every detail is amazing, & it healed perfectly. Couldn't have asked for better results. In fact, my friend who came with me loved the way it came out so much we went back to Henry the next day to get some ink on her! Henry is... kind of AMAZING.

    Yay Full Circle :)

These guys are all cool. Went here to get my gf her first tattoo. We came in two weeks before to talk toyhem about her idea. Made an Appt for two weeks later. The guy Thomas worked with her. He sent her emails of his idea with hers. It's aweseom that etook so much time for a small tattoo.

Had a chance to talk with the other tattoo artist too. All hella chill and kick back. Pretty good crew of guys.

Anyways aside from that, that tattoo came out great. Lines were nice and staight, color was nice. And they did it pretty fast.

I would definatly suggest this place to anyone for anything. They had pictures ad seems like they each done a good amount of different tatie and styles

After a couple of months of research and a profile in a magazine, I decided Full Circle was where I wanted to have my tattoo done. I chose Cash for his many stellar reviews and for his work I was able to see on the site. Yesterday he gave me an AMAZING half-back piece. He was accommodating from the beginning with me. I'm stationed in Afghanistan and only had a 2 week period to get this done (R&R), and he worked with me via email and telephone before I arrived this week. From just an email he created a beautiful piece for me and had it ready when I walked in. There was nothing about it that I would have changed and I'm a picky bit%h...that's how f'ing awesome he is.

He was incredibly patient, gracious, funny and FAST. And his ability to knock out my tattoo in NO way took from the quality of the piece. It was my first serious tattoo (one previous debacle that shall remain unspoken of) and I was able to get through it and it's because of Cash.

I was also worried a bit about getting such a large piece b/c I'm African-American, but he was so confident that it wasn't even an issue. And again, it's so sick that I would call it epic. Everyone in the shop was awesome and even with half my as* out for the entire world to see I felt super comfortable and not at all awkward. Christian was really awesome and gave me some good advice on how to care for my tattoo once I was done.

I know this is a long review, but I like to know as much as I can before making decisions such as this and I can't accurately convey just how awesome the experience was. Well, it hurt...but you know what I mean.
I now have a couple of friends that plan to go there.

    Thanks again Cash!

I just got my first done there on Sunday 8/22/10. I was recommended this place by my friend's roommate, who had gotten work done by Bill before he was at this shop. I drove down from the OC, and it was definitely worth it.

The place deserves 5 stars because my experience with them started the day before, on Saturday, when I called to see if they had any openings for me. The guy that picked up the phone was very friendly, which was a good thing - one of my main concerns was that the people were not going to be accommodating to me, a first-timer. He was already cracking jokes and laughing with me over the phone.

I told him what I wanted done, and he told me that he doesn't have any openings that day or the next (nor do the other artists) but was willing to stay after closing time to work on me because he really wanted to do what I was asking for. An artist that's eager to do what you're asking? Always a good sign. He gave me his personal cell number to contact him in case I changed my mind (since the shop was closing soon after I called).

The next day, he already had the image I wanted printed and ready. He gave me tips on relaxing and getting through it because it was my first time, and it was really helpful. Henry was my artist. Everything from demeanor to craftsmanship was perfect. I couldn't ask for much more. I absolutely LOVE the end result!!

I had a prediction of how much the tattoo will cost me, and it was EXACTLY what I had predicted. I paid 120 for mine (+tip), and it was worth every dollar.

The facility was clean and the atmosphere was super friendly. I am definitely going back if I ever decide to get any more; and I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends.

Just got my tattoo from Cash last night.  I love it!  I honestly didn't know what to expect but after seeing the work that Cash has done in the past, I put my full trust in him and boy did he deliver!  It took 3 hours for the outline and shading, so I have to come back for the coloring. Right now my tattoo is healing and the shading is red in some parts but once it heals, it will turn gray.  (I've attached pictures.)   Also it was painful in some areas, but honestly it's tolerable. If you've ever given birth naturally, getitng a tattoo is nothing.  Cash is such a talented artist and very easy to talk to so I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a tattoo artist.

My friend Mindy finally convinced me to get a tat.  I figured I'm 36, not getting any younger, and you only live once,  so why not right?!  - I said that before I knew what it felt like!   I am not one for pain!

Don't get me wrong I love my anklet tattoo but it was an uncomfortable experience!  I remember my brother getting all his tattoos and he never flinched, but this was real pain!

I just finished my very first tattoo with Full Circle Tattoo's artist extraordinaire, Cash.  He is not only a super talented artist but an extremely rad person.  I recommend him 1,000 times to anyone who is looking to get a tattoo.

I have been wanting to get a tattoo for about a year and a half.  I had gone to a couple of very well-known tattoo palors for consultations.  Not to bag on the shops as a whole but I was treated like absolute crap by the two artists who I chose to have a consultation with.  Oh well.  Too bad for them because those experiences forced my to look into my neighborhood shops for my first piece.

As stated earlier, I found Cash and I am so happy with the tattoo that he gave me that it's ridiculous!  It didn't even hurt that bad at all!  I plan on going back to Cash for more work for sure.  Oh, and the entire staff is super nice as well.  Love those guys!!!

This is the place to go!

First - It's clean!!! (Kinda important when you're gonna be doin' somethin' that draws blood)

Second - They are friendly! First place I went (very highly rated) didn't really seem that interested in my business (I'm not talking about 30 minutes worth of work...took a few hours in the end)

Third - They (Particularly Dominic) are all about doing it the way you want it. He really went out of his way to make sure I liked what I got.

Fourth - The quality is top rate!!

So...shop around if you must, but definitely stop in here and talk to these guys...You won't be sorry.

My husband and I both had our "mid life crisis" tattoos done at Full Circle tattoo. Dominic did an amazing, very detailed half sleeve dragon tattoo on my husband, while Cash gave me my very first tattoo--a large Tree of Life symbol on my back. (Yes y'all, go big or go home!)
I have wanted the tattoo for nearly a year now, and had a strong vision of what I wanted it to be and how I wanted it to come out, but I don't have a creative, artistic bone in my body, and was completely unable to verbalize to Cash what I wanted.
Through my breathless, fan girl whispering (these artists, they are rock stars, please believe that), he totally understood what I wanted, and he made my tree come to life.
We couldn't be happier with the end results. We are black, and were concerned about coloring issues and whatnot, but they are consummate professionals at Full Circle, and knew exactly what colors would look good on us, and pop against our brown skin. It took us a while to get in and to get booked for an appointment, but this is art that will be on our bodies forever--and it was well worth the wait.

    Pure awesomeness.

Here's how it goes....guy (Me) figures he wants a legit tattoo...Looks around at other shops in San Diego, see great work but nothing that stands out. I hear lots of friends say.."I have a guy," "my guy is the best." Not so easy..I want a tattoo that is not so average...say "Starry Night," VanGogh..as a sleeve! I am not sure it is the best thing to turn into a tattoo..or even one that anyone really wants..but I do.  So as my search for the right person to do it (this took a little less than a year)...I see Full Circle across from Ortega's in OB..I don't go there, but I remember it.  Few months go by and I say sure...never heard anyone talk about the place, but I will check them out!

Well...come time about 6 months later..I am half way into a 3/4 sleeve of Van Gogh's painting, done by none other than shop proprietor Bill Canales.  I did the first 4 sessions and have walked away simply amazed everytime, and moreso everyone who see's it cannot wait for it to be finished, but have been equally amazed! Its one thing to find someone to do a good tattoo, but to find a real top notch down to earth guy to do it is something else. Bill is one of the most legit..no BS...chill, professional people I have met regardless of industry.

This shop has a good vibe throughout...Bill has told me he is very selective of who he hires...which does not seem to be what goes on in many other tattoo places here in SD..you can tell by the lack of interaction by artists. At Full Circle everyone is really interested in what the other artists are doing...and Bill really is enthusiastic about the artists that he has brought to this establishment.  I highly recommend this shop not just for Bill but the other artists Cash, Dominic and Bill's apprentice James as well. I don't just feel like I am there to get a tattoo...it is a great hang out atmosphere where I always feel welcomed, notwithstanding that I have been there once a month since July..everytime I come by its like I walk into Cheers or something, everyone is really forthcoming with you, no shady "he's not here" like you may get in other shops...

Bill has done a great job all around...on my tattoo and assembling a shop that he can stand behind with pride.  Check them out for sure...don't worry about people being booked...the wait is well worth it! All around great place..great artists...nothing short of what a great business should be hands down.

Again, 5 stars. I Finally started my suit. Well, Bill did anyway. Two sessions into it, and I am even more impressed with the quality of the shop and the people you can find in it. I have a new life mantra-"Never get tattooed by someone who has time to do it right then". Seriously. the good ones are always booked, and for good reason. If you want the best, be prepared to pay for it, and know you have to wait your turn. I am soo stoked with what i'm having done, with the exception of needle-touching-backside. That, not so much. new meaning to pain in the butt.

What I am happiest about is that I brought Bill a statue I bought in China, and he was able to translate it into a tattoo, with all the right flavor, and in AMAZING artistic fashion. This is the shop whose art will cover my body. for certain.

I still recycle Doms joke of "The only place on the back that doesn't hurt to get tattooed is someone elses." ....
Cracks me up. Just not while its freaking happening.

Upon entering "tattoos" in the yelp search engine of San Diego, Full Circle came up. After even a brief glance at the website, and portfolio, I knew I wanted my next travel piece there. And since I had what I wanted in mind, I emailed the parlor asking to see if Bill was available to tattoo me.

Though they were A LITTTTTLE slow at replying the emails, Bill finally emailed me back, regrettably telling me that he's all booked up till a time past my SD stay. However, he did recommend me Dom. I had asked Bill to see if he could forward the info to Dom personally, but didn't really get a reply, so I called the shop and asked for Dom's email personally. Everything was completely A-OK till I found out about the address I was staying....downtown...far from Full Circle.

Long story short, I checked a couple of other parlors (including Flying Panther) but was just not happy with the portfolios the artists had(at least not for this specific one) I ultimately decided to go back to Full Circle, especially with my friend's friend being able to drop me off and pick me up.

Dom was completely friend and professional. He gave me a few more examples of what I had in mind, quick and amazing with his work. Even joked a little bit. And for the price that I paid, it was significantly less than what I had originally thought it'd be...perhaps it's my travelers discount?

Whatever, I love my new ink, and even bought a tee there to remember the experience(aside from the obvious ink for life).

My only gripe was the lack of Air Conditioning....yeahhhh.....guys, get on that. If they're ever in tattoo conventions near my area, definitely seeing these guys again, or maybe if I'm around the area.

I just had my very first tattoo done by Cash this afternoon. Cash is an amazing artist and his portfolio is very impressive.  I was really nervous and he was really sweet and made me feel comfortable. The tattoo is amazing. I had roses done across my lower abdomen and am so pleased I can't stop checking it out. I highly recommend Cash to anyone considering getting work done. The shop was very clean and the rest of the staff was very friendly as well. Thank you so much Cash!! I want to also suggest bringing an Ipod and a squishy ball, it helped me out a lot :)

Bill Canales is not only an amazing artist but a great guy.  He did a beautiful cover up on my ex back when he was at Flying Panther and was very patient with him (being a foreigner with a thick accent who didn't really know what he wanted) - and his handiwork is nothing short of amazing.

I've been inside the new shop in OB to mull over some ideas for a cover up of my own and the entire staff is pretty awesome.  I would let these guys at me any day, from what I've seen their work is genius.

I don't know if anyone on here has tried to do a watercolor painting, and miserably failed... I know I have! This is what I think of when I see tattoos that weren't done very well, several years after they are done!

My first tattoo (tattoo shop not to be named)... was done when I turned 18.... typical... just turned 18... wanted to be a rebel... thought tattoos were cool... the typical 18 year old ideology. I had planned out what I wanted for a while... and finally was old enough where I didn't need my parents to sign for ANYTHING... I also DIDN'T do much research on who were GOOD tattoo artists... I figured that the temporary tattoo goes on... and the artist basically traces it... and it's great... WRONG... My first tattoo hurt horribly... it was on my upper back...on my spine...so I figured that this was normal... and I just thought I was being a pussy! So, I went my way... with my new, "badass" tattoo!  Several months past...and it healed... It was HORRIBLE... the tattoo artist dug his needle in so deep and went over it so many times... that he left raised scars under the tattoo...it has also faded quite a bit... so, to this day... I will always have a "scarring" memory of my  "younger (dumber) days"...da dum dum... no pun intended... haha

Needless to say...it took me a while before my fear of overzealous (heavy-handed) tattoo artists went away...

One day... I was looking for a belt buckle for a Christmas present for someone...it was a specific buckle made by Sailor Jerry. I was visiting San Diego at this time...and didn't know what stores carried them...so I searched for shops online... I proceeded to scour downtown San Diego for said belt buckle.

I happened to wander into a shop (Superfly Tattoo) where Dominic Vasquez was working...and he told me about how they could special order one...while I was waiting in the shop...I checked out his portfolio... AMAZING WORK... My boyfriend, at the time, decided that he wanted to get a piece done by him...and did... I was so impressed, that I immediately decided to schedule an appointment for my next tattoo.  After nearly 6 years... I was ready to give it another shot...

He drew it up...and we got started... I was soooo impressed with his use of colors... I am not the best artist (my friends can attest to this)... I am an engineering student... I got the math side... DEFINITELY not the artistic side...so it left me in total awe...to see him dip the needles in so many colors...and get the PERFECT MIX... It definitely is a talent that not many people have! The quality of his ink was amazing, also! I have had my arm piece for about 2 1/2 or 3 years now...and people still ask me if it's fresh!

I am so satisfied with his work, that I have FLOWN back to see him (when I lived in New Mexico), and driven up to Denver (when he went back home to Denver) to get more work done by him. Not only is Dominic an awesome tattoo artist...but his sense of humor is great as well... he is not the typical douche that doesn't care about your work as soon as it leaves his tattoo studio... he wants it to be a piece you will be proud of forever!

Full Circle Tattoo is definitely lucky to have such an awesome tattoo artist as Dominic Vasquez... So far, I have gotten my right arm, and a full back piece done by Dominic (with more in the workings)... I know that Dominic would never work for a shady shop...or for ANY unskilled tattoo artists... and Bill Canales is a pretty famous tattoo artist...so, I really don't think you can go wrong with this shop! :)

But... my vote is for Dominic Vasquez! :)

P.S. I am really afraid that giving this place an awesome rating will hurt my chances of getting an appointment as quickly as I have been able to in the past...but I had to give credit where credit was due!
