After using Yelp for years, this is my first review. Â I am so grateful for the kind, respectful, and quality service I received at The Grand Tattoo Lodge. Â From the moment I walked in I felt comfortable and welcome. Â Art did my first tattoo and I couldn't be happier with it. Â He did exactly what I wanted, explained everything clearly to me, and put me at ease. Â It was also fast. Â I really appreciate his honesty; if something is not going to work well, he will tell you. Â Oliver is also super nice. Â The whole vibe of the shop is classy and pleasant. Â The location is conveniently close to downtown and has its own nice parking lot. Â Decor is fabulous. Â After shopping around for the perfect place, the Lodge far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this shop and Art.
Review Source:I had work done when this shop was located at John's house by a guy he was teaching. Roman did an awesome back piece on me but when I paid him $400 to do a half sleeve of flames (I'm a firefighter) it was bad. The douche did craptastic work. The flames weren't flame like. He made them all blue and did some of the worse shading I've ever seen. When I asked John to fix things up he did a half ass job. I tried to get Roman to fix things but I guess it was his time of the month. Since all of this the repair has cost me over a $1000 and it's still not where it should be. Thankfully I have been tattooing for several years and I have been able to recover most of it on my own/ It still needs more work and more color. To give you an idea of how stupid the douche is he attempted to "make smoke" at the bottom and colored it blue and white. What smoke is blue and white and looks likes clouds? Don't waste your money getting tattooed by Roman. Everyone else does a great job. I watched John at his house draw on a beautiful on a woman and it came out awesome. The shop is clean and everyone is nice minus Roman (the I used to be a cop.....makes you wonder why he's off of the force if he ever was one). NEVER GET A TATTOO FROM ROMAN. I hope John kicked his sorry ass to the curb.
Review Source:Wife and her friend had work done here first and they were very satisfied. Â I just got back from getting some done and I couldn't be happier. Â Shannon Nordin did mine and he was great. Â The place is laid-back yet still very professional. Â No pressure, no hipsters, no tough-guys. Â
Cash only.
I had a bad experience in Long Beach - (I only went to LB on a referral from a friend) - I ended up just walking into this place 3 years ago to see if someone would fix my tatt. Â I only went in here because it was on the way home, and now I'm totally devoted. Â My artist is Art Minas who is working on my sleeve. Â Love this place!! Â Relaxed, fun, CLEAN - every time Art sets up I have to wonder if I'm getting tattooed or having surgery!! Â If John isn't busy he walks around to see how everything is going. Â Professional, no attitudes, you get what you ask for. Â My husband and I both walk into Art with a description of what we want and walk out happy because it's better than we pictured!! Â I would recommend this place ALL DAY LONG! :)

I've gotten a few tattoos from John Montgomery and love all of them! I tell him something I want and let him draw up whatever he thinks of. The details are incredible and once I get home stuff always pops out that I didn't even notice at first. I like bright colors and he has done a great job my the color pop on my tattoos. It is def worth my drive from San Clemente up to the shop and plan on getting more tattoos in the future from him.
Review Source:I love this place. I've been getting tattooed by John for about 7 or 8 years now. The work is amazing and the shop is unlike any I've ever seen before. All of the artists are great, they will take whatever you planned on getting, and make it better! I highly recommend this shop and any of its artists.
Review Source:Went here spur of the moment during the Spring. I was trying to go to Tattoo Revolution, but they were booked for the day when my friend and I got there. I'm glad that they were booked because this place is a lot nicer, and not located next to some like creepy liquor shops and what have you.
This tattoo shop is pretty cool. The guy that helped my friend and I, I think his name was Gary(?) it has been awhile, my apologizes... He was really cool. My friend wanted some script across her bicep, and I was looking to get some tattoos re-inked.
The shop was surprisingly empty, but they had a bunch of different tattoo magazines, and books showing off their artists work. Nice comfy couches to sit on while you wait, and if you're lucky the little kid who was chillin' in the kitchen might play some music. Since this happened a while ago, I think he was playing some Justin Bieber? Or, something along that.. haha
I think for the both of us to get all of our work done it was about 90-2hours which isn't bad considering that the artist handmade-designed his own script pretty quick, and he did 3 tattoos.
Pricing was super cheap if you ask me, for my 2 tattoos that he had to re-ink, which are pretty small like 1-3 inches it was only $80, more with tip. I think my friend who got script across her bicep was only $60? Such a good price that didn't put us out of money.
Definitely will be coming back to this place. They have a nice private lot behind their shop which looks like a little house.
