Terrible, horrible. I came in for a simple wristband representing the fallen 19 firefighters and overpaid on something I will now have to have redone. I have work done 100 times more detailed than this simple piece. I was excited to get this done because it meant a lot to me and am beyond let down by this. I'm only giving one star so I can post this. I have pics up top.
Review Source:Got an amazing piece from Tony, he is such a good artist and as you all may know those are limited these days! I came in with a couple of pictures and ideas of what I would like and Tony came up with a personalized sketch for me which I love. I have a few big pieces on me now and it was difficult to find someone who you can trust to put something permanent on you. Everyone is super nice, professional and attentive! I will be coming back for more!
Review Source:I'm on my 3rd shop, as I got really poor service, so Kenny had his work cut out for him. At the consult he said if he could not fix it he would not have even taken the appointment, which was comforting that he would rather his work be good or not at all. He did a great job, I'm happy with his work, it's very precise and he was able to fix some really crappy work, finishing the work in record time and at a great price. I will never go to another artist...unless Kenny tells me to go to one of his other 3 artists. I know tattoo artist hate fixer uppers so the fact he did so with a smile, and without a fuss is really a credit to him and his shop!! Thank you! Oh cash only so go to the ATM first...and plan to book Kenny weeks in advance. I'm sure he sets a high standard for any artist and I have seen Tattoo Tony's work too which is excellent.
Can't go wrong here in my opinion.
Hold Fast is not only clean, friendly, and professional. Their staff is some of the best around. Â Despite the fact Tony did my tattoo, Kenny and Johnny Knuckles were super cool and polite. Tony is by far a master of the craft, not only is he skilled he has excellent customer service and creativity. I came in with some ideas and not only did he read my mind he then added his own personal touch that really impressed me. He seemed as excited about doing it as I was about getting it. Â Tony and Hold Fast gained not only my business but my loyalty as well.
Review Source:Anyone who is serious about tattoos knows how difficult it is to find an artist that you trust with something so meaningful and permanent. Johnny Knuckles is the best. My husband and I met him when he lived and worked in Phoenix and have followed him up to Prescott. Even though it is an hour and a half drive from where we live there is no one we trust more. It is always worth the drive.
Review Source:Hold Fast is the best tattoo shop I've encountered. I don't know if it's the level of dedication the 3 artists have to their craft, or the friendly, casual and welcoming vibe, but I just can't seem to find another place like it. Seriously these are the nicest tattoo artists you'll meet. No shady vibes that you find at most shops. And it's obvious that they take their art very seriously. They will work with you to create a beautiful piece to wear with pride on your body. They will also tell you if something won't work and why. The best part is that all 3 are equally good, but all have their own style and form. So anyone can be tattooed here and be happy with it. They welcome everyone from hardcore ink enthusiasts to the timid first timer who wants to start off small. The shop is clean and comfortable. I've spent many long sessions there, and I always feel at ease. There is good music, and friendly people to chat with. I've even nodded off for a bit while getting worked on. I recently moved to Portland, OR after living in Prescott for 8 years, and I miss Hold Fast. I think rather than finding a new artist up here, I will just book with Tat 2 Tony whenever I'm back home visiting my family.
Review Source:I had an appointment with Tony to get my first tattoo. Â Throughout the booking, sketching, and actual tattooing process Tony was extremely professional. Â I came in with an idea of what I wanted, but was open to some suggestion from an expert. Â Tony drew up two different designs and let me look at what each design would look like on my body. Â He discussed color, size, and pain factor all before starting. Â During the tattoo he allowed my boyfriend to sit and hold my hand (yes I might be a little bit of a whimp) and continually made sure I was ok. Â I could not have asked for a better experience or better finished product on my body. Â I would recommend Tony to anyone looking for a great and professional artist.
Review Source:So, we (and I say we, because it was my husband and I) were on vacation, not finding any knick-knack or souvenir that suited our fancy - and thought that getting some artwork done might be a better fit for our lives. Â So, my husband scouted the internet for tattoo shops in the area and Hold Fast came up as the nearest, and with the best reviews and ratings. Â We walked on in on a Saturday afternoon.
We were greeted by exactly what you would imagine when thinking about a tattoo shop. Â Looking around we saw fantastic artwork done in the traditional tattoo style, along with other more quote unquote modern takes on painting. Â The music was loud and energetic, and we were greeted by a smiling man with tattoos adorning most visible skin - Tat 2 Tony. Â He told us that while they welcome walk-in's they didn't have anything available that particular day, and to go downstairs and speak with the other guys working there to see if there was any availability early next week. Â We spoke with the guys, and they said come back Monday to make an appointment.
Unfortunately, there were no posted hours, and we didn't think to get what time they opened so we decided to make our way into downtown Prescott by noon on Monday. Â Called Hold Fast up, no answer, just the machine - so we did some shopping. Â Called up a little later, no answer, just the machine - got lunch. Â Called up while we were waiting for our food, and alas! Â They were there, and just our luck, two cancellations that afternoon! Â We chowed down our lunch, and headed over.
Greeted again by Tat 2 Tony, he took a look at what we were interested in. Â My husband was interested in a Celtic Knot, and thus didn't need any alteration to the design. Â I was set on an owl, and had done some mediocre drawings, and Tat 2 Tony took care of that - drew up a fantastic custom design for me. Â That didn't take all that long. Â We agreed on a price point (which I thought was very good for what our end result was) and got going.
The whole process for both of us took nearly five hours (from drawing to bandaging up), and we both thought it was great. Â Tat 2 Tony gave us aftercare information and sent us along on our way. Â He also mentioned that if anything was off, or needed a touch-up that we were always welcome to make an appointment to do so, free of charge.
Tat 2 Tony was really great, very friendly, and a wonderful artist. Â Hold Fast Tattoo was clean, welcoming, and had a great vibe. Â Seems like a great place to get some work done, and I would get a whole lot more if it weren't 2000 miles away!
I have had a few  tattoos done over the years, met some really neat folks that are the artist...hands down Hold Fast rocks...I came as a walkin and got scheduled with Kenny two days later, he is a wise businessman as well a great artist!  I wanted a few things added to a old tat, hr came up with a 1/2 sleeve that was gorgeous...I made it into 2 sessions about 3.5 hours each, he is fast and super talented. You gotta love his stories about the local area, he is colorful so keep your tough skin on!!!! I loved my experience and I will be back-All the guys are super nice as well!  Bring CASH...no cc machines!
Review Source:Johnny Knuckles is amazing.
I visit AZ every year to see my best friend, and I saw this girl with an gorgeous sleeve at a bar. I asked her where she had her work done, and she told me Hold Fast. I immediately went down and met with Johnny, who scheduled me for the next day. Impressive!
He tattoed Queen Elizabeth I's orb on the inside of my right arm, and it's beyond what I thought could be done, down to the "gold" detail on the sphere, and the pearl detail on the cross.
I told him I'd come in every year to have him do artwork, and I mean it. Next up? A saint's icon on my back.
I gots the loves for Johnny Knuckles!!
With my limited experience with "Ink Shops", and a good eye for art. I have found a small store front on Gurley St., that was pleasing to a number of my senses. First, if i ever met a group of guys that were born to tattoo, these are the "gentlemen". Kenny who owns and operates Hold Fast, Johnny Knuckles, a fine artist whose work borders on the darker side and Tat2Tony ,who did my work, has a style unique in form and color. The shop is open later in the day and thus stays open late. Appointments are recommended, as they are always busy. Walk-in business was handles promptly during my 3 hour session, a number of naps during those 3 hours should be a statement about my comfort level. The shop is clean with art hanging from all artists on staff. The actual work was better than i had imagined, Tony managed to complete the job in one sitting and made no mistakes. Touch ups are without charge......I didn't need any.
