All I have is 3 words "TIA IS AMAZING!"
My friend and I woke up yesterday morning trying to think of how we wanted to spend our Sunday. Â Got on the subject of tattoos and then started talking about piercings we have wanted. Â Instantly got on yelp and called the first shop that came up. Â Talked to Tia and she gave us a great deal on all the piercings we wanted. Â We scheduled a time and ended up being about 30 mins late. Â She was super laid back and said no worries Ill be here when you get here. Â
First off, they have two locations and we went to the wrong one but Jeremy was nice enough to walk us down to the location Tia was at. Â Everyone in the shop was sooooo cool! Â We were welcomed immediately. Â Tia did an amazing job on my nose ring. Â It didn't hurt at all! Â She did my friends rook and also got a double helix and they looked amazing. Â They are also very clean, every tool/needle was taken out of a sealed plastic bag and rubber gloves were worn. Â There were a couple times the phone rang but Tia would take the old gloves off and apply new ones. Â She was very good about making sure everything was sterilized and clean!!
Definitely going back here for all our piercing needs. Â Fun and high energy place. Â Oh and the beats in the shop are dope! Â Mixed by people who work there.
I didn't get a tattoo, but I went here with my friend who decided to get one. We finished lunch at SideWalk Cafe, and House of Ink is right next to them. The staff were nice, my friend wanted the words "believe" on her right wrist. The guy showed us on the computer the different calligraphy they have... pages and pages..and we took our time going through alllll of them until she found the one she liked. It was quick and it looks beautiful!
Review Source:I cannot say enough good things about House of Ink.
I live in Utah, but decided to go on vacation with my family. I have a goal to get 1 tattoo a month for 12 months, so I figured I'd fill August's quota while in California.
I did a lot of research before deciding on a place, and House of Ink was the clear choice.
I walked in casually with my family one Sunday afternoon, and the place was almost empty. I was immediately greeted by a very nice man behind the counter, so I asked him if they took walk ins. They did, so I proceeded to tell him that I wanted a small 13 on the side of my foot.
He was more than accommodating and even helped me pick a font. I made it a long drawn out process, and he was nice every step of the way. I wish I would have caught his name, but I didn't.
Then it was tattoo time. My tattoo artists name was Asaru, and he was the nicest and most professional artist that I have EVER been to. I was not intimidated to ask him questions, and we actually held down a pleasant conversation while he tattooed me.
He spent the extra time with me, and made sure that everything was perfect. From the placement to the cleanup, I have no complaints about Asaru's work. At the end of my tattoo, I told him that it was my favorite tattoo that I have. He asked to see my other ones, I showed him all of mine. Upon showing him my INCREDIBLY faded "pinky promise" tattoo, he offered to touch it up free of charge. That blew my mind, as I have been trying to get the original artist to cover it up for months, and Asaru just steps in and takes the imitative to make sure my hand doesn't look like shit anymore. That right there made him golden in my book.
The tattoos were super cheap as well. It only cost me $80 (excluding tip) for two tattoos that I am ABSOLUTELY thrilled with.
If you ever come to House Of Ink, Asaru is the man for you!!
We came upon House of Ink almost exactly a year ago when my friends and I were walking down the boardwalk and one of us went "I think I want a tattoo today!" so we Yelped and found them. The experience was great, so we came back this year on our next day trip. We called ahead of time because 3 of us wanted to get tattooed and we didn't want to overwhelm them, but they said just walk in. So we did and made kind of a reservation for a couple hours from then. They were able to get all 3 of us going at once! Ozzy helped us get started and did my friend's starfish tattoo, which turned out beautiful and vibrant. I got my small red biplane tattooed by Jordan, who was super zen, nice to deal with, and his line work came out lovely and crisp. I was worried about the words in the banner not being able to fit, but he squished them and made them small without it looking like crap, it came out better than I imagined.
I think their pricing is fair. I am used to paying a lot more for my work than I did here (my usual shop is Outer Limits). I think price depends on the artist, and honestly I think they are much more likely to give you a good deal if you're friendly, let them do their job as artists, and aren't a dick to them.
I think if you're looking to get an on-the-fly tattoo, and you are in Venice, this is the best choice out of all the shops on the boardwalk. A day in Venice is great, and the experience of getting tattooed here just adds to the awesomeness.
I went to venice not expecting to get tatted that day but then I came across Albert's portfolio the philipino dude from house of ink his work blew me away luckily he was available at the time he did one of my favorite peices  a huge deer piece on my arm I love it! He is sooo cool very friendly like family and super talented I will definitely return to get more work done by him if your looking to get inked and in the venice beach area definitely check albert out.
Review Source:I went here with some of my friends because one of them was getting her first tattoo. At first she was intimidated but as soon as we walked in everyone there was so so welcoming and immediately helped her get started. I decided that I wanted to get a cartilage piercing while I was there and Jovan (?) helped me pick out a stud and got everything ready so fast. Then he asked me to sit down and he pierced my ear. I have gotten many ear piercings and a nose piercing in the past  but Jovan may be the best piercer I've had so far. He was super quick and it was practically painless. I would highly recommend him as a piercer. He was also really nice.
On top of that the tattoo artist that did my friend's tattoo (I don't know his name) was really nice and professional. Overall the entire experience was great. I would definitely recommend this place!
All I really wanted to express on here is my support for their new artist Albert.
He is new to Venice, actually the US for that matter, coming from the Philippines only a couple of months ago. He has tattooed in the PI for years and brought his talent to the Venice boardwalk.
I stumbled upon him totally by chance. I just had to run in and use their ATM, but being a tattoo "veterana" I started a brewing up that damn on-the-spot desire for another piece.
Bottom line, this guy is polite, clean, and talented. No ego. Check this guy out for lettering and other fine, detailed work. He listened to what I wanted, and no bullsh*t. Good job, Albert.
Otherwise the shop was like any other shop on the boardwalk, kinda clean but not really, the other guys look pretty annoyed; having to deal with sweaty tourists wanting butterfly tramp stamps etc... I wasn't asked to sign a "permission slip" or to check my ID (oops) until after the fact. I am sleeved up and obviously over 18 but I'd be worried about the legal stuff. Price was about average.
This shop seems to have a revolving door for artists but I wish this guy Albert all the luck in the tattoo business!
Walking around Venice today and saw a girl walk out of the shop with a beautiful rose. It was a cover up. I have a tattoo I've wanted covered for 20 years. I walked in the shop and talked to Asaru. He looked at what I had and said he could cover it no problem. I decided on a lotus flower and he went to work. It came out beautiful! Asaru is amazing!! What a talented artist. I will definitely be coming back to him for all my future ink. All the employees here were great. Worth checking out.
Review Source:When I first wanted to get a tattoo, I had no idea where to go. My cousin recommended this place because she said that it was good. So my cousin went with me to get my tattoo, when we got there everyone was very welcoming and it had a good atmosphere, it was clean too. The tattoo artist that I got freaked me out at first because he looked like a meth addict, but when I started talking to him and he was super nice. At first I was just going to do black and grey, because I was worried about the price, but then I asked how much it would be in color. I was shocked because it was not even a lot of money, I thought I was going to have to pay and arm and a leg for it; so I decided to get it in color :) The only bad thing is that I didn't realize how long it would take for him to draw up the stencil, my cousin and I were waiting for a long time and decided to get something to eat. By the time we got back, he was there setting up. My tattoo experience was good, it didn't hurt as much I thought it was going to, it surprised me cause I hate needles LOL! My tattoo looks great and I am happy I went there, looking forward to getting another one!
Review Source:When I decided that I was going to get a large tattoo on my chest, shoulder, back and arm I started shopping around. I liked the vibe of Venice Beach so I went to almost every shop. Many of them were very unprofessional, lacked basic customer skills and did little to make me want to do something like getting a tattoo at their business. However, when I came upon House of Ink, I was immediately greeted by someone who understands the importance of customer service. All my questions were answered. I visited the other two locations and found the same thing which impressed me. On my third visit I met the owner Sean who knows his stuff very well. Take your time choosing who does your ink because a bad job takes twice as long to fix. Have it done right the first time!
Review Source:I like this place because I've gotten some great tattoos here, but they don't seem to hold onto their artists very long and you can feel the tension in the air when you're there. Â I guess the boss runs a pretty tight ship, but it seems to keep the artists nervous which is not what you want when someone is taking a needle to your skin. Â Just sayin....
Review Source:I have many tattoo's, even to the point where my friends have called me a "coloring book" in the past. haha. Well my mom and sis came into town this past week to visit, and of course I took them to Venice Beach. Â Totally random, but all three of us decided we should get a tattoo together. We all got a little purple rose for my grandma that recently passed. :)
Anyway, we all got tatted by different artists, and Shon did mine...My little rose turned out so perfect. Clean lines, good shading/coloring and he had a light hand. Â (Not to mention the shop was nice a clean). Good stuff, cause you never know about needles, especially in Venice Beach.
So I've been to few different shops and no one is as personable, clean, and close to a bar as this shop! Sean, the owner is an amazing artist an at a great price, affordable! The other artists there are just as imaginative and do some awesome work! I've gotten 6 of my 5 tattoos here and have never been disappointed!
Review Source:Ever do something totally spontaneous? I did! On Sunday afternoon, I drank some margaritas at a nearby boardwalk cafe and ran into Sid standing outside the shop. He asks me if I want a tattoo or a piercing.
I'd gotten one of my tattoos at this exact shop last year, I know it's legit. So I say F it, why not!?
I bet my answer surprised even Sid, because he leads me in before I change my mind and does his thing. I leave with a cute naval piercing!
Verdict? This spot is suuuper clean, sterilized tools, and the whole process took 2 minutes. Plus, Sid dropped the price to 40 if I paid cash. I'll definitely come back here for my next tattoo. Or some other random piercing I spontaneously decide on!
I've gotten three piercings done at House of Ink (tragus twice and cartilage). I was very impressed by the cleanliness of the place and all of the piercers were very experienced. Spicolli did my most recent one and I absolutely loved him! I would definitely recommend House of Ink to anyone. Especially if you're looking to get pierced in Venice Beach, House of Ink is the best place to go. I'm planning on going back later this summer to get my tattoo touched up.
Review Source:I don't live in LA, but visit all the time. Venice is somewhat of a sketchy area, and all of the tattoo and piercing shops look like crack houses in between the "Medical Marijuana dispensaries". When my friend and I saw House of Ink it was clean and very welcoming. I wanted to get my tragus pierced, so when we walked in and the lady was very nice, and knew everything about sterilization and walked us through the whole process. After we left we kept saying how she should be a doctor because she knew every detail of the piercing and made sure I stayed as long as I felt comfortable to walk around because I hadn't eaten all day. Not to mention the piercing was $45! Other places in LA could be well over 80. Great deal, great people, it makes you feel right at home. I usually don't ever yelp places I've been to, but I had such a wonderful experience. I would drive down from northern CA to get another piercing here.
Review Source:I walked in yesterday for a conch piercing. Victor greeted us and was very helpful. I've had my conch pierced several times, and hhe was by far the best piercer I have ever had. I barely felt the actual piercing and today I can't even tell I have a new piercing. Typically my ear will hurt for a few days. No pain yesterday, none today. I had a great experience here.
Review Source:I started a leg piece a year ago with another artist at another shop. The work was nice, but the way all the tattoos he did healed was a nightmare. When it finally healed a month or so later the color was muddy and looked old. So a friend told me about Steve at House of Ink. I told him what I wanted, a leg full of sweets (candy, cupcakes, ice cream, donuts ect) and he drew up some amazing and yummy little sweets. When he was finished, my jaw dropped! AMAZING!!! His work is gorgeous, the color is bright and the sweets look good enough to eat. I get compliments all the time. So I went back for another, a tribute to my dad on my arm. Again, I was amazed by the beautiful work and color! Steve is the best! I wouldn't go to anyone else for my ink.
Oh and the shop is very clean! I heart House of Ink!
(Review about piercings)
My friends and I decided to head over to Venice just to enjoy the unusually warm weather during this winter season. Â It was my first time and decided to make it a memorable one. Â I figured that getting my lip pierced would be a spontaneous and fun thing to do.
There are many tattoo/piercing shops along the boardwalk, but didn't look as clean as this one. Â
I met Zee, the young lady responsible for piercings, and was informed the price for a lip ring is $45. Â Her work station was nice and tidy. Â She was very knowledgeable and avid about client teaching regarding placement of the piercing, the piercing process, and aftercare. Â She even confirmed with me that the tool she was going to use is sterile.
Overall it was painless, but my threshold for pain is quite high. Â I guess that'll happen after getting a bunch of piercings, tattoos, and having a baby.
I highly recommend her. Â She made the whole process very comfortable which helped calm my nervousness.
My husband got a tattoo done here by derrick. Â He got a 1/4 sleeve size black and grey tattoo with a fair amount of detail. Â He said it was going to take about 3 hours but it didn't end up taking that long. Â Nice guy, great job on the tattoo. Â Clean, friendly shop. Â Highly recommend.
Review Source:Pure awesomeness, the artists are talented the atmosphere is cool and everything is nice and clean.  Ive gotten 4 tattoo's here and each experience has been a good one. They will really go out of their way to make sure you are 110% happy with your choice. The  music is good as well. If your looking for a tattoo to complete the whole Venice experience come to the best spot which is House of Ink.
Review Source:I got my industrial done here to celebrate my 18th birthday by angel, not only did he do an awesome job on it,he made me feel totally comfortable. I was clearly freaked out walking into it but he totally calmed me down before he did it(such a nice guy!!)..now as for the piercing,I know everyone says it's the worst pain..umm,no it's not..idk if it's because this guy is really good at what he does or i'm just not a cry baby!.
but overall this place is awesome,I'd totally recomend anyone getting a piercing here:)
i got my 3rd tattoo here. After searching around online i found this place. i sent an email and a appointment was made soon after. Right when we walked in someone came to us and asked us if we had an appointment or needed help. witch surprised me because most tattoo places have you standing around for a little bit. Sean was my tattoo artist. Right away he asked what i wanted and i gave him my print out. He made a stencil and got to work...every minuet he asked me if i was ok, and he made sure my friends had time to take piks every now and then. When it was finished i was soooo happy! he put me in front of a mirror to check out his work. before he covered it up he suggested to take a another pik..lol i love my newest tat. Its somewhat expensive compared to other tattoo shops I've been too. Its all worth it tho. This is something thats going to be one you forever and the nice beach breeze is a nice touch.
Review Source:Get your ink here! Super clean, hella fun and tons of professional attitude for the beach. I had an existing tattoo done in New York and wanted a second one that would match the style of the first. Â Sean exceeded my expectations matching the original artwork. Â I couldn't be more pleased with the final piece.
If you go to Venice Beach to get a tattoo get it at House of Ink.  The staff is really fun to hang out with while you're getting ink or holes.  And most importantly they are really good at what they do.  After walking around and getting prices and  a feel for each shop we found ourselves at House of ink laughing with everybody and left with great tattoos.
Love these good people. The Mr. and I have both gotten ink here, mine by Chuck and his by Rocky. I'm particularly impressed by Rocky's work, having seen him also ink a friend.
The Mr. got thick solid bands done and Rocky really took the time to go over them in detail to ensure they were perfectly straight and thoroughly filled in. They've healed beautifully and look really impressive.
I realize the Boardwalk is not necessarily synonymous with "sterile," but rest assured that House of Ink is clean, professional & safe. Plus what better to take your mind off the pain than watching the freakshow that goes on out there? However I'm docking them one star for not having any adjacent seating area. Standing for three hours while my better half got worked on was a pain in the ass. C'mon guys, you couldn't offer the pregnant chick a chair?
i really like this place and i am very happy with the results. I saw a few people get pierced here so i knew it would be clean and professional. I got my industrial done, which was very painful and apparently slower than necessary. But the piercer was detailed and kind and she made sure i was happy and comfortable through every stage of the process. they do a lot of piercing here so experience is not an issue. its a little rough around the edges, and i dont know about the tattooing section, but i would come back here for more holes in my body.
Review Source:So it was my first time getting anything pierced, and since everyone and their mother discouraged going to the mall, I decided to go here.
The building facade may look daunting, but the staff was quite friendly and professional, not pretentious at all. Clean facilities and visibly sterilized tools too. Â
The process was fast and painless. Â Aside from all the ungodly bleeding that took place from my right earlobe (i guess i'm a bleeder) .. it went without a hitch. Â I'd go back again, even though I left with a sizeable amount of blood on my jacket.. maybe i'd suggest a bib for that.
