Ok, so this review is for Chris Smith. He's my first choice for tattoo work I get done In California. He's great with colors and pretty much anything. He works with you to get exactly what you want. Most of the work I have on me is done by him. You defiantly get what you pay for. He's great. The tattoo shop is in a small little plaza. Hidden gem I'd say. Very welcoming and a friendly staff. Very clean and professional. They take cash and cards. So def a plus for me cuz I don't usually carry cash on me. But if you need cash there is a atm. So, if you looking to get some great work done check them out and ask for Chris Smith. You won't be sorry. I need to go back soon and get some more work done! Forever customer here :)
Review Source:I got 2 tattoos, one behind each ear, with Jeremy. Everyone on the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and I was attended to immediately. I was recommended here by a friend who also had tattoos done at Lefty's. Jeremy made sure that everything was exactly how I wanted; positioning, size, etc. He also was very attentive to my body language, always making sure I was ok when I seemed to be in more pain than before, asking me if I needed a break or some water, very caring guy. He was also very understanding with some unrelated issues, and I made sure to tip him extra when I came back for a light touch up. My tattoos look beautiful and I get compliments on the all the time. I plan to come back to Lefty's for me next tattoo and my best friend will be getting his next tattoo here as well. I love these guys!
Review Source:Just got a cover up tattoo done by Jason Martin...it's PERFECT!!! I showed him the design and asked him to keep it feminine and I got just what I hoped for. I'm sooo happy with the tattoo AND the service! He was friendly, gave me a quote that was accurate and the shop was very clean!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!
Review Source:Known these guys in the shop for almost 12 years now and Ive seen great work go out those doors every time! Wouldn't go anywhere else or recommend anywhere else! All the guys in the shop are helpful and very fair!
Have had my own work done here and I plan to be a lifelong customer! Great work and always a clean shop.
Call and set up your appointment! Anyone in there is an awesome artist!
Oh yea! Hurts so good. My ONLY location for tattoos! Â I started over year ago and YES I'm slightly addicted. Â They have a new location. Â Very clean and sanitized. Â People there are awesome but I have to say, my go-to person is the ONLY asian kid there, Nhan! Â I follow his work and it's amazing. Â He's honest about what he thinks of your ideas and recommendations are great. Â I trust him and I throw him an idea and let him run with it and so far it's worked out great. Â All the other artists there are cool and the environment is super chill. Â Itching for some more ink! Â Referred quite a few friends here already to Nhan and nothing but good feedback.
Review Source:I love this shop! I found out about them through a friend, and since then I won't get tattooed anywhere else. I've had two tattoos done by Chris Smith. He's a great guy! He did both of my feet in separate occasions. He made sure they lined up perfectly and flowed together. He was super light handed so I didn't have much pain to go through! Their shop is clean, organized and has a great vibe to it. I felt comfortable there both times I went. Overall, this shop rocks. If you want quality work, with a fun atmosphere; there's no doubt Leftys is the place to go!
Review Source:If you want excellent work go to Leftys! I get all my work done by J Dogg, he is amazing! He really listens to what you want and comes up with the most incredible things! Hes also a perfectionist which is the type of person you want tattooing you, I mean come on your going to have something put on your body permanently, you want it absolutely perfect! I will NOT go to anyone else! Go to J Dogg you wont regret it :)
Review Source:I have two tattoos done by Josh at Lefty's, and I have brought three of my friends so far to get their first tattoos and we all LOVE them!
Lefty's is immaculately clean, professionally done, caring and fantastic art work!
I did my research, and found Lefty's to beat out all others in OC.
I've received 2 tattoos here, both of them from Jeremy.
The shop as a whole is professional, all employees I've encountered have been very kind, the pricing is good, and the work is awesome.
I love the design Jeremy came up with for one of my tattoos and I plan to go back very very soon to have him do up another one.
I have several friends who have also received work done here, and all of them have been stoked by what their artist has done.
Call and make an appointment, NOW!
I recently got a forearm tat with Josh. He was really easy to work with & I love the finished piece.
He quoted me a good price range up-front & even though we were there until 11pm at night, he didn't try to charge me any extra. He actually charged me the bottom end of his price quote range. We met twice before the night to go over the artwork too.
He was really pleasant whilst doing the tattoo & I enjoyed our 4 hours together! The arm has healed beautifully & I'm just so pleased with the result.
All the staff were welcoming, courteous & fun to meet & I never felt "looked down upon" as can happen in tattoo shops that think they are above the clientèle.
The only issue I had was that the bathroom is a bit grim!
They're the shit, and I would recommend them to anyone looking to get some work done.
The owner Jason "Lefty" Martin has been a close friend of my husband for a long time and is a phenomenal artist. I got the outline of my idea (his design) done a few months ago and I'm going back tonight to get my color done. His lines are perfect, straight, and clean. He certainly doesn't have a heavy hand, which is something I only look for in a bartender so I have to say, it was the quickest and best healing tattoo I've ever had.
Lefty's has a Myspace page as well as a Facebook if you want to check out pictures.

After getting my first couple of tattoos elsewhere, Lefty's was recommended to me by my brother. I first went in to see the artist Jason for a touch up to an older tattoo. Then came back for new ink. I've now been to Lefty's on four separate occasions for my own work to be done in addition to the several trips that my husband and friend have made there for ink. Every single time it's been a great experience. They are clean, careful, friendly and are very good artists. No one will ever tattoo my husband or I except Jason Martin at Lefty's as ever single one of my tattoos healed up nicely and look great.
If you'd like an appointment with a master, better make it months in advance since his schedule is quite full. Not to worry, he's WELL worth the wait.
I got my second tattoo here. The people were nice and I loved the way my tattoo looked when I first got it. After it healed not so much. To be fair they said I could get free touch ups but I think I'm going to get it touched up somewhere else. I got it on my wrist and the ink ran. It looks smudged in spots. It's messed up. Now I'm going to have to make the lines thicker, which was not what I had wanted. Not good. I'm going to get it touched up at outer limits. I hope they can fix it.

Now, my story:
My boyfriend and I got our second tattoos together (my second overall, his third). We went to visit his best friend/brother in Orange, and we knew we had to get tattoos while we were there. We both had our ideas in mind for months, and were sure about what we wanted. We went to three different parlors close to Chapman (where we were staying) and Lefty's gave off the best first impression by far. We set up our appointments one after the other with J-Dog.
We ended up rescheduling for earlier because we were so excited, and it was easily done. I took note that parking was sufficient, even though we just walked. All our questions and concerns were met with knowledge, experience and professionalism. They did things differently from what I experienced with the last place I went to, but I chalked it up to it just being a different area, with different people and different methods.
My boyfriend and I both brought in custom designs that J-Dog was able to improve on as an artist, but kept to our original visions. He even offered an alternative option from his own artistic vision. We are both VERY pleased with our tattoos, and although we both already had ink done before, J-Dog was still sure to go over all the necessary aftercare instructions with us to make sure we knew how to keep them healthy and looking their best.
I am probably quite biased in my ranking system, and I could just as well give Lefty's five full stars, but it concerned me on a level of personal preference that when switching to white ink, there was no needle change. The artist my boyfriend went to before changed needles between every color, especially white, to avoid dulling the new color. There didn't seem to be a problem in the final product, but I thought it worth mentioning.
