Little Tsunami is FABULOUS!!!
My partner and I decided to get a second tattoo from Little Tsunami during Aug. of 2013. We both wanted custom tribal designs. As with there original studio, we found there new studio to be squeaky clean, quiet and tastefully designed. Â Despite the fact that my artist became ill on the morning of my scheduled tattoo, Channel stepped in and somehow was able to fit us both in. We could not be more pleased with the professionalism, knowledge and customer care that everyone in this studio exhibits. Â Channel is kind and funny and most of all one damn skilled artist.
I was so excited after visiting the Little Tsunami Tattoo shop. Â I was greeted and welcomed to the shop by an apprentice artist(sorry, I do not recall her name). Â We spent a good hour discussing and creating the foundation for my future tattoo. Â She booked an appointment for me with Chanel one week in advance to coincide with my last day on the beautiful island of Kauai. I had a three hour time slot from 2:00-5:00 pm (7 days in advance) to allow time for my flight departure later that evening, and left the customary non-refundable deposit. At 10:30am the day of my appointment, I received a call informing me Chanel was canceling my appointment because the client before me had decided on a larger piece or work. Â ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Â Apparently pleasing that client was more important than keeping the commitment made to me. To be fair, I was presented with a mediocre attempt to rectify the situation by offering me another artist, but at her convenience, and later in the day. My deposit was also refunded, but had it been me that reneged, the non-refundable deposit would surely have been enforced. Â What do I think should have happened? Â Chanel should have kept her commitment with me, and had the client before have her larger piece completed in two sessions when she had an opening later in her schedule. Â One word.....DISAPPOINTING
Review Source:Got matching tattoos with my sis and mom with varying degrees of color. Â Almost couldn't do it but Chanel accommodated us and came in early so we all could get one! Â me and mom's 1st and we were so happy to get Chanel! Â She is the best, really helped us get through it and they turned out great! Â Probably won't get another one, but I'm glad the one and only tattoo we got was done with such care and precision! Â I love that this shop is run and staffed by women artists.
Review Source:I am not sure why my review was blocked, so I am re-posting:
Chanel did a great job with my tattoo. I was uncertain about what I wanted and Chanel worked extensively with me on my design. My tat is so bright and beautiful, great lines, and healed no problem.
I also had some troubles while getting my tat - I fainted right when she started! This had happened to me on other occasions while getting pierced but I was hoping it would not happen during my session... how embarrassing. Fortunately, Chanel was great. She was patient and super nice, and I was able to finish the rest of the session no problem. She made me crack up when I asked (right after fainting), "What will happen if I can't finish the tattoo?" and she replied, "Well, you'll have... um, half a leaf and a line tattooed on your back for forever!"
Bottom line: beautiful work, good customer service, and very chill location. Would highly recommend.
Acacia's artwork is simply beautiful. Â I am thankful and proud to have a tattoo from this girl power shop! Â I contacted the shop about a month before traveling there so that I could get in during my trip. Â I met with Acacia and we talked over design options when I got into town. Â A few days later, I walked out with some fantastic art that she designed. Â It is much better than I could have imagined. Â Thanks Little Tsunami Shop! Â I look forward to our next inking! Â Clean shop, talented artists, fair pricing.
Review Source:I came back here again and guess what a got another amazing piece of art!!!! Some super sweet Sugar skulls( I posted a pic) but this time i got it on my right leg. These girls rock and can put out some darn fine work. I just went to the tattoo convention in seattle and these gals are as good if not better than some of the best I saw at the show. The gals here are still great one year later!!! It sure is nice to be able to walk into a tat shop and have someone greet you with a smile and not have that whole chip on the shoulder of being a tattoo shop thing. Â So if you are looking to get inked on your vaction then call a head and set a appt. this place get busy quick it is well worth the time and money.
Review Source:Great shop. I was able to come in with a small, simple, vague idea, and they were able to expand on it and personalize it for me.
CHANEL did my lower back and I was extremely pleased. I knew I wanted flowers and she had plenty of books to look through so I could pick my style and colors.
The shop can get busy but was very quiet during my appointent time and I was well taken care of and comfortable.
I WILL go back next time I am there!
I chose Little Tsunami Tattoo for my second tat because I liked the idea that they are girl owned and operated and a friend of mine got hers done here and had nothing but compliments for this shop. Â Chanel was great, it's been 5 years or so since I got my first tattoo in Vegas, and she made me feel super comfortable and her price was very fair. Communication through email and phone was nice since I live on the south side and didn't want to drive in for a consultation.
Review Source:this shop is perfectly located right on the beach in kapaa, kauai. Â amazingly positive vibe in the shop, perfectly clean, well designed, and just a good place to spend a few hours! Â
my girlfriend and i both got tattoos from chanel while on vacation in kauai. Â we sought her out ahead of time which worked really well - the day we arrived we came in for a consultation where she really spent time with us, asking good questions and listening to what we wanted. Â a few days later when we came back to get tattooed, she had already worked up drawings that were awesome. Â she clearly heard us out, then added her own flavor. Â we did a little back and forth and within an hour started the work. Â
chanel is an amazingly talented artist, tattooer, and overall good human being. Â great tattoo and tattoo experience!
There ladies are total kick ass!
I didn't get to get my work done, because of a cut in me leg. But Grandparents, mom, Uncle, and Aunt all got their work done by these lovely ladies. And they did a PERFECT job!
Hopefully within the next year I can make my way back for some new work with them.
Also a side note, they are very welcoming! You don't always get that vibe when going into a shop.
I called with only a couple days' notice, since I was only on the island for a few days, and they found a way to fit me into a busy schedule. The shop has a great vibe and Acacia took all the time we needed to craft an amazing tattoo of a native bird and flower. It wasn't what I had asked for, but was what I really wanted - that's the mark of an exceptional tattoo artist! It turned out beautifully and I had a great time with Acacia. I hope I can go back for more next time I'm in Hawaii! Totally fantastic experience and I get compliments on the tattoo every time it's out for viewing. Acacia's special aftercare routine really does cut healing time in half!
Review Source:I had an hour to kill and decided to get a spontaneous tattoo. Didn't really give it much thought, just walked in and told them what I had in mind and in no time, I was on the table with Chanel and walked out with a perfect little tattoo.
Definitely heading back to have her do the ones I actually have planned.
Great place, great girls, great work.
I found and chose this shop based on all the favorable reviews on Yelp, and I must say, it 110% lived up to the hype. Â I was in Kauai on vacation and decided to finally have my first tattoo done. Â Chanel worked with me, over the course of a few days, and was incredibly helpful in creating and working with what I wanted. Â The tattoo took about 3.5 hours, Chanel was friendly throughout the entire process and made it a enjoyable experience. Â I'll have to admit, during the process, with this being my first tattoo, I kept wondering if I had made the right choice, to get one. Â The moment I saw the finished product, I was in awe! Â At that moment, all doubts faded and I was incredibly happy with my decision. Â
I'm already looking forward to my next trip to Kauai for my second tattoo. Â
Chanel, you rock!
I had two beautiful tattoos done in this awesome studio in Oct '10.  Five of us wanted tattoos on our vacation and the wonderful ladies at The Little Tsunami Tattoo Studio were so gracious and helpful.  Their shop has a great vibe and the artists are really talented. Chanel and the visiting artist  Jenn tag teamed it and gave me two beautiful flowers to add to my back flower chain.  I had that gasp moment when I looked in the mirror and saw that incredible magenta lotus on my back.  Chanel is one talented lady. I can't wait to return to Little Tsunami for more Chanel flowers.
We were lucky enough to celebrate our tattoos on the anniversary of their Studio. Â Congratulations Ladies! Â Fondly, Christine
I had been thinking about getting a tattoo for a few years and knew I wanted a Plumeria on the top of my foot. Â While on our honeymoon in Kauai, my husband and I had looked at a few tattoo studios on yelp and in person. Â When we walked into Little Tsunami Tattoo, Chanel took the time to look up from her work to greet us and ask if we needed any help. Â When she was done, she came out and talked to me about my tattoo. Â The next day we came back and finaled up the design. Â Being my first tattoo, I was nervous, but Chanel was awesome and laid back. Â She's so friendly and fun, and is amazing at what she does!! Â I would go back to Kauai just to get another tat done by Chanel. Â Thanks lady!!!!
Review Source:Seems that all the reviews have been on Acacia, but my wife and I were tattooed by Chanel so I'll review her. Â Chanel was really awesome, provided her input but went along with what we wanted. Â We both got very small tattoos in script, and the tats were a little more expensive than we anticipated. Â The girl at the desk quoted us a price actually above the minimum when we scheduled our appointments, but Chanel charged us just the minimum per tattoo because it was so brief and used few materials. Â We both really appreciated that and enjoyed our experience. Â Go see Chanel!
Review Source:Had a sleeve piece done by acacia. Totally loved how she took the time to sit with me and researched my piece that I wanted before she started. She did an awesome job from researching it,  sketching it, to placing it, basically going  the extra mile. I could tell she has a true passion for what she does and does an excellent job. Her jobs also heals up really nice! The staff their is super friendly and professional. Make reservations in advance though especially if you have a bigger piece you'd like. I get a lot of positive comments on the job acacia did! Thanks acacia!
Review Source:I have had both of my tattoos done at this shop and these girls seriously rock! Â They are super nice and friendly and the shop is across from beautiful kauai beaches, does it get any better?? Â I live in LA and people ask me daily where I had my work done because they like it so much! Â If you're in kauai, go see these girls, they're the best, I won't go anywhere else:)
Review Source:My husband got his first tattoo from Acacia recently and had a wonderful experience. Acacia was really helpful and kind while he picked out his design.... and then drew the most amazing image for the actual tattoo! The shop is clean, comfortable, and the staff seem really happy to be working there. If you're considering getting a tattoo on Kauai, this is definitely the place to do it!
Review Source:Acacia did my tattoo in November of this year. Everyone in the shop was super friendly and professional. As previous reviews have said, you need to make an appointment at least one day before to have them create your tat design. I'm very happy with mine, and I get lots of complements on it!
Review Source:I have had two tattoos done at different times by Acacia Jones, one of the owners of this great tattoo shop on the beach on the north end of Kapa'a. Â Acacia is a great artist and is really nice. Â There is no flash in this shop, just artwork on the walls and three hot women artists who do beautiful work. Â Both tattoos I've had Acacia do for me have healed great without problems (one is actively healing right now!).
You need to make an appointment as they are busy enough that you often can't just walk in. Â It seems to me that they can usually fit in a small piece within a week or so, but if you want something big or a specific artist, you might want to make your reservations around the time you make flight reservations! Â Oh, they do piercing too.
Remember, can't have a sunburn or they won't do a tattoo! Â And can't be in the sun or the water afterwards, so plan accordingly. Â Great way to remember a trip to paradise...
