went for a consultation about a cover up a few days ago with Daniel. After emailing him. When i opened the door first thing i could hear was the loud country music playing. No receptionist. After staring at everyone in the face for a good 15 minutes a guys comes from the back. I told him i was there to see Daniel. Said he was out to get some food it wold be a few minutes. so i waited. Daniel comes back (i had never met the guy so i didnt know how he looked). Him and the guy that had spoken to me earlier. start eating their food on the front counter. So i keep waiting not knwoing it was him. after another 15 minutes i hear someone call him by his name so i realize it was him. I guess the guy that told me to wait hadnt told him i was waiting to see him, either that or he told him and Daniel decided to eat first. Â Really bad customer service mixed with an unfriendly evironment. DO NOT RECOMEND IT.
Review Source:This is only the second tattoo shop/studio that I've been to. This review is based on that information, as limited as it might be.
The first place I got a tattoo from around 6 years ago is no longer in business, so I can't post a review of their shop.
This studio was clean, spacious, and I felt welcomed by the friendly staff.
The artist (Daniel) who met with me was patient and helpful as I explained how and why I wanted to cover up my previous ink. If you look through either my pics or the pics on the MD business page (I don't know which is easier), you can see the "before" "during" and "after" pics.
My wife's name is "Tena." The way her name looked on my back...well, it didn't look exactly like her name.
Anyway, I was extremely pleased with the end result.
Parking was easy. They've got a lot that several businesses share, but it wasn't too crowded. Even if there weren't any spots, there is a smaller street with ample parking (not Reseda, the one just South of the building).
The cost was reasonable, $120 per hour with a $100 minimum.
if I ever want another tattoo, I would come back to MD Tattoo Studio!
Saw the work that was coming out of this shop so I knew I wanted to get work done there. Katelyn Crane was recommend to me for the type of tattoo I wanted. After a 5 hour road trip and 3 hours of work I now have a beautiful piece of art on my arm that I love. The shop is clean, inviting, and laid back. The walls are covered in amazing art that shows off the talent at MD Tattoo Studio. I will definitely be returning. Thanks Katelyn.
Review Source:i came here on a long-planned quest to bear my family's coat & crest permanently in ink with what i thought was a good clean picture of it but ended up needing a lot of preparation and some changes before it was ready to become an awesome tattoo. Marc took hours and hours modifying it and remodifying it with incredible fidelity to the very specific, finnicky details that were important for the integrity of the coat & crest, as well as to the aesthetic. He was very patient and his solutions were clear and exactly aligned with what i wanted.
when it came time to actually do the deed, he was very courteous and clear about care and all the paperwork, and also courteous about the awkwardness of being kind of topless (in just my bra, half-off) in a studio full of other customers. He made it clear that i could take breaks whenever i wanted (the work took two-&-some hours) and participated in pleasant, distracting conversation. The tattoo came out perfect, every line is very clean and straight even though some parts are very small and intricate.  I couldn't have asked for a nicer, more competent, professional artist.
The shop itself is very clean, open, and comfortable. The walls are filled with beautiful, distinctive paintings, there is minimal requisite flash art, and minimal product-hocking area. The other three tattoos i observed happening while i was there (all large, brightly colored, and delicately shaded) looked beautiful and everyone seemed happy. i will definitely return to this shop for any further work and would readily recommend it to a friend or relative. Thank you MD for my beautiful family crest and an easy, awesome experience.
I got my first tattoo ever today! I went to MD Tattoo Studio because of all the Yelp reviews I read. I got a small tattoo, just a little cross on my wrist. Marc did it for me and I love it! Now, since this was my first tattoo and it was so small I can't really compare him to other artists I've gone to or compare his work to other pieces of work I have but I can rate this place on their friendliness, attentiveness and atmosphere and for all that I give them 5 stars. The place is VERY clean. Marc spent 20 minutes just sanitizing his work station and all his tools. I also noticed he changed his gloves A LOT. Being a clean freak and obviously worrying about bacteria getting in or around my skin, I appreciated this very much! I really liked Marc, he wasn't really chatty, he just seemed focused on his work. After I was done he made sure I liked it and told me over and over again if I have any questions to go back and see him. I can definitely appreciate someone that cares about the customer's happiness. I will definitely be coming back to this shop.
Review Source:This place may have great artists, but it is most definitely not the place to get a tattoo in the valley. I went to MD looking to get an oak tree tattoo. When I walked in the door I did not even have the opportunity to look the artist portfolios to choose my artist. Instead, I was assigned an artist by the receptionist. When I met the guy (Jamie) he gave me a wimpy, noodle like hand shake and a creepy vibe. He showed me his portfolio which was impressive, but when I asked him if he could draw something up for me, he told me that he would wait until the day of my appointment to draw something up. This was not fine with me. On top of that, he tried to get me to put down a $150 deposit  down on an appointment to get tattooed two months in advance! On a piece he would not even draw up til the day of! Needless to say I took my business elsewhere.
Review Source:I got tattooed here about a year ago, and I'm glad to see they're still doing well!
I only have one tattoo that i got south of Oakland, and I have to say it's pretty adorable.
I asked Katelyn to do my piece after checkin out her portfolio on the website (which is super easy to use). She was super friendly, and heads up, I think her deposit is abotu $100. I booked with her about two weeks in advance and she was super friendly the entire time. In fact, everyone in the shop was super nice, friendly, and generally made me feel welcome. The shop is super clean and no one wanders around staring at you (um, I'm getting tattooed not trying to show off. Please stop staring).
I'm planning on going back once I figure out where I want my next one!
I woke up early April with one thing on my mind, getting a tattoo to immortalize my own success in life and my love for Hunter S. Thompson. After journeying through these here so called "Series of tubes" I found MD Tattoo Studio. After taking a look at all of the artist portfolio's I decided on going with the mustachioed fiend, Marc Durrant and set up an appointment for a consultation.
Upon arriving at the shop, first thing I noticed...classy. That's right the shop is classy, walls are covered with art, actually more art than flash. And not just any art, but art created by the artists, all in a multitude of mediums. First sign that these guys and gal, know everything from design to color theory. Finally this place is freakin spotless, super clean and well lit, which comforts you that you will probably be safe from some sort of hepatitis or alien rage virus.
So I met with Marc and explained my idea, and he was receptive. I gave him the freedom of designing it and figuring out all of the detail. I feel that giving the artist creative freedom is the only way to ensure something seriously awesome looking. I was also in no hurry, so I gave Marc a couple of weeks to draw something up. Over the weeks I sent him emails with art and other reference materials, he was quick to reply and let me know how things were going and what to do in preparation for my appointment.
Fast forward to April 28th, I arrive at the shop and thus begins my 12 hour journey into my tattoo. Started out with the usual paper work, laying down the design and then the needle came to life with a hunger for my skin. After the outline we broke for lunch, Marc walked with me down to this Vietnamese restaurant in the same plaza where we refueled and rested for the next part, the shading.
We worked into the wee hours of the night, The Specials playing through out the shop and the now familiar buzz of Marc working the tattoo gun came to a halt as he told me we were done. He wiped down my arm and I took a look at the finished project. I was at a loss of words, he went above and beyond the call of duty and delivered a piece that not only I was proud of, but I'm pretty sure Hunter would have liked.
All in all, I had probably the best experience for a first tattoo. Unfortunately I am already thinking of my next one, even before the first one has healed. If you have the chance to get work done at MD Tattoo, don't hesitate to ask for Marc, the guy knows what he's doing and will give you an amazing tattoo.
Stay weird my friends. Stay weird.
I came here because my aunt has been getting work done by Katelyn Crane for two years and has always raved about her. I figured I would take a weekend to visit family and get my first tattoo done by this artist I had heard so much about. Katelyn spent four hours drafting and revising my drawing because I came to her not even fully knowing what I wanted...she did an amazing job taking the couple drawings I brought and combining them with what I told her I wanted, and I really appreciated her spending so much time with me to get the perfect finished piece.
We didn't get to work until about 3:30 and the actual tattoo (vines and leaves going from my hip to my ribs) took about 2.5 hours. I never took a break because I wanted to just power through and be done, so I was happy that she didn't either. I spent most of the time either talking to my aunt or Katelyn and was happy for the distraction.
The finished piece is so much better than I imagined and it was worth every penny. Besides my experience with Katelyn, the shop itself is perfectly clean and professional looking, and everyone else there is really friendly. I felt really comfortable there which was great since I was there from 11 to about 6. I'm so happy my first tattoo experience was so great and would definitely travel to get work done there again!
I followed Marc Durrant to MD Tattoo Studio after he left YoniTattoo Studio, and I must say I was quite impressed with the setup here at MD Tattoo Studio. Â The place has a very tasteful, upscale vibe to it without the stuffiness or attitude associated with other establishments that have the same aesthetic.
Marc again knocked another one out of the ballpark. Â He took in all my comments and obscure references to this new piece and came out with something even better than I could've asked for. Â Plus, the talent and output from the rest of the staff here is phenomenal. Â Class act all the way.
MD Studio's is located in a nice plaza with lots of parking. Upon entering the shop you'll notice it's extremely clean. A nice sound system and HDTV are there for your enjoyment.
The shop showcases the artwork from the artists along the walls. This is some of the best realism artwork I've seen. All the artists at MD Studios are highly skilled and deliver some of the best tattoos in the valley.
I went ahead and selected Marc Durrant because of his ability to transfer exactly what you see on paper to what you see in a tattoo and then some. Marc is very nice and will take his time so that you will get exactly what you want. Marc is very good in integrating his background in art to his tattoos. This makes for a very high level of execution within his work. I got a Double Cheese Burger tattoo from Marc. Â I have posted it in the pictures for MD Studios. You can see the detail in this burger from the sesame seeds to the detail in the red onions.
All in all an excellent experience over at MD. For a custom tattoo this place is a must go to. Hands down one of the best shops in the valley. I'm am so happy I went with MD Studios. So thanks MD Studios and most of all thanks Marc!!!! I'll be back soon.
Easily one of the most comfortable environments I have ever experienced in a tattoo shop. Everyone in here is welcoming and nice, not to mentioned some of the most talented artist in the industry. I recently got a few Pumpkins put on my shin by Marc Durrant and I couldn't be happier. Original, creative work every time.
Quality ink for a great price in an awesome environment. You cant go wrong with anyone in here. Your probably going to have to wait to get in but it is well worth it.
5 STARS!!!
I just got my first tattoo at this excellent studio . The staff is friendly  and the shop is very neat and clean . I got my tattoo by London Reese and I couldn't be any happier with the result . Beyond all my expectations . Every artist there does amazing work . I will definitely be back to finish my leg sleeve and then some . I wouldn't want to go to any other shop . Overall , it was a great experience .
Review Source:MD Tattoo is the place to go. Â The talent at this shop is second to none. Â Besides being super clean and professional from top to bottom, this is the place to go in Southern California for great work. Â London is one of the most talented dudes in the biz and his color work and versatility are amazing. Â Go see London, Mike, or Josh for any and all of your tattoo needs. Â These dudes are super nice guys and the utmost professionals about what they do.
Review Source:i went in to finish my right sleeve, to which no one was willing to touch it being  the fact a few other artists had dabbled with it before, but when i was referred to the artist london by my gf. he took the challenge and saw that it could be an amazing piece and not only was he creative enough to help basically re design the whole thing, he is a wicked ass artist and currently we are half way done with it and im ever so excited to get back in to finish it london is an amazing tattoo artist i have  had alot of tattoo work done on my body and had alot of really good artists work on me, but london is by far the best if your looking to get a tattoo you will never regret make sure go to him :)
Review Source:Love Jeff Johnson and love MD Studio! Jeff designed my tattoo and did my first two 5-hour sessions at a different location. For my third and most recent 3-hour session with him, I went to MD. Great little shop... clean, comfortable, friendly atmosphere and clearly some artistic geniuses working there. Yes, it's pricey but this isn't some run of the mill tattoo place where you pick a generic design off of the wall and get it on your ankle or lower back. This is serious custom artwork and you get what you pay for. Can't wait to save up and add some more hours of work with Jeff!
Review Source:MD Tattoo Studio is by far the most exquisite tattoo shop I have been in! Â My first tattoo was done by Mike DeVries about 8 years ago and I have to say he may be one of the most humble in the industry.. These days I have been getting my pieces done by my dear friend Katelyn Crane. KATELYN CRANE..... write it down! She is not only talented but she has a heart of gold. Katelyn has a warm loving soul and is always ready and willing to listen. I could gush ALL day about Katelyn, Mike and the aura of the shop.... But it is something you have to experience for yourself.
Review Source:This was my first tattoo and I wanted to make sure it was perfect. Â I live in Northern California and spent a lot of time researching and found this shop. Â I had London tattoo me and I am so very thrilled with the job that he did. Â My brother passed away several months back and I wanted to have a portrait of him on my back. Everyone that has checked it out can't believe how real it looks. Â London was extremely professional and made me feel at ease. Â He had some awesome ideas based on some feedback I had provided that added the extra touch. Â The shop is very clean and everyone that worked there was friendly and professional.
I Highly recommend MD Tattoos.
presenting the amazing and wonderful:
(trumpets playing here) Josh Duffy (trumpets playing here)
This shop is the best I've ever been to. Â It's a comfortable environment when you're in severe pain, with plenty of artwork to stare at for a distraction. Â The bathroom is clean, which is rare for a shop in my experience. Â And of course Josh Duffy is the man with his machine. Â The color on my arm is so great. People ask to see it and then they just stare for a while. Â I get tired of holding my shirt up. Â Go here, or be sorry forever (yes, that's how long a tattoo lasts)!
I just (yesterday) got a tattoo here from Jeff Johnson and it is absolutely stunning. Â I gave him the basic idea (a great white shark along my side, approx. armpit to hipbone) and left all the designing and everything to him. He sent me the line drawing sketches when he got them done to make sure I was happy with them and they looked great but I never could have even imagined it would turn out as badass as it did.
The shop was great, extremely clean, non-threatening, comfortable and fun environment. Â Everyone there was very welcoming and positive and you could tell they all really cared about their clients, what they were doing and about each other. Â I looked through the books and at all the art on the walls while Jeff was getting ready for me and every artist here is ridiculously talented and they're all really cool people.
I live in San Jose and flew down just for an overnight trip to get tattooed and it was 100% worth it. Â I won't be going any where else from now on, they're stuck with me. Â I couldn't be happier with this tattoo, thank you Jeff and everyone at MD Tattoo!
clean, professional, not scary. jeffrey johnson is fast becoming a well known name in the tattoo world and i am excited to have more work done by him if i ever stay un-pregnant long enough....ahem.
his color work is beyond amazing and his custom bio-mech tattoos are all so incredibly inspired and unique...its mind blowing what can be done in someone's skin by the right, talented artist...
make your appointment today, he's a busy fella!
