I was leaving the salon next door to New Flower on my way to my car when the jewelry display in the window caught my eye. Â Everyone knows I'm distracted by shiny objects, and the selection here certainly sparkles. Â Coincidentally, I recently had a procedure that required I take off all metal jewelry, including my ear cuff (cartridge piercing) from the 90's. Â I feared it was closing and needed to get a piece of jewelry in there ASAP. Â In an awesome twist of synchronicity, I found myself here. Â
John is the owner.  He's like a moving piece of art with all the expected and required tattoos and piercings/holes you would expect to find from a professional body piercer.  Extra points for the dreads and dope Versace eyewear.  Once you get past his alternative exterior, you may notice his bright intelligent eyes and genuine friendly  disposition.  He greeted me kindly and was super knowledgable, that it was easy to  trust him right away. Â
After browsing the rather large selection of jewelry, I decided to upgrade my thick metal cuff to a lovely delicate rose gold ring that fits my style a lot better than the titanium played out earring that I had been rocking previously. Â I LOVE Â My new piece. Â The experience was painless too because as John explained, the hole only looked closed- but it wasn't. Â
I liked New Flower so much I wish I had more things to pierce. Â If you are in the market for an extra hole or two anywhere on your body, swing by New Flower Studio. Â See John. Â He rocks. Â Trust.

I received two new piercings, and had two old ones fixed expertly by John. This guy is really passionate about his art form. I walked away from his studio with piercings that I am thrilled with, AND a thorough education in best practices and after-care. Â I've been operated on by doctors who I am pretty certain didn't care as much about me, or the procedure they were performing nearly as much as John clearly cared about the service he was providing me. The studio is SPOTLESSLY CLEAN. No fingerprints on the walls, no dust bunnies in the corners, and John changed his gloves EVERY SINGLE TIME his hands left the sterile field. I really couldn't be more impressed with New Flower.
Review Source:Went in to get PA, no other genital piercings before, very nervous and had many questions but after talking with Kenny I was convinced to get 3 frenum piercings instead!
He was chill and knowledgeable, overall experienced.
Love the way the piercings came out (as does my gf) which is a big plus.
Would definitely recommend as a place to get a piercing.
Obviously I'm not going to say anything that anyone else hasn't already said on here... but... seriously, this shop is fucking amazing.
Not only is it clean and beautiful and spectacular but as far as I can tell, everyone that works there is genuinely nice, helpful, and an awesome conversationalist. The selection of jewelry is quite impressive and of the highest quality. I was very excited to see that they carry omerica organic plugs.
The shop also gives excellent aftercare instructions and has several options that can be purchased on site. They sent me home with a card with all of the information about my jewelry. This is super helpful when you are ready to switch out your jewelry!
All around fantastic shop and the highest quality of service I can possibly imagine.
I am forever grateful that Yelp pointed me in the direction of John Johnson.
I was just about to visit him at his previous location, and I'm glad I waited.
New Flower Studio is unlike any piercing studio Ive been to.
As soon as I stepped inside, I felt at ease.
The studio is neat, simple, and displays various artists work (body jewelry ranging from wooden plugs to golden barbells).
I did my research when it came to John and his piercing credentials, as well as his portfolio, and reviews.
John is quite professional, knows his line of work well, knows his products, aftercare tips, all that, and more.
John even knew what type of gemstone I'd favor in my navel piercing just by talking to me for a little bit.
He's one of those old soul types, if you know what I mean.
Since replacing my crappy Hot Topic navel ring, I've started upgrading other body jewelry as well.
I've also been introduced to the world of anodizing (essentially changing the color of titanium by using electricity and such) so he even customizes my jewelry for me!
John has no problem with explaining my options when it comes to jewelry, and recommending what would be best (which is appreciated).
I personally haven't been pierced by John yet, but my boyfriend recently was.
The paper work to get the piercing was thorough and necessary (it asked questions like "Have you ever fainted? If So, what from?" Have you had caffeine recently? Have you had alcohol recently?") The set up was clean, John made sure to verify the dermal placement, the process was done promptly but with precision.
The dermal is healing beautifully, and my boyfriend couldn't be happier.
I went to this shop yesterday because I read the read the reviews on Yelp. I absolutely agree. The place is immaculately clean. It is not cheap but worth it. The receptionist, Marley was nice and very patient. John was beyond incredible. This was my seventh time getting a belly button piercing because they keep falling out. The process was quick, precise and minimal pain. Just amazing!!!!
Review Source:John Johnson has been my piercer for years!!! I followed home from outer limits to his own studio :)
He is just the guy to trust your body piercings to .
The studio is clean, professional, and has a great jewelry selection.
He is always funny cordial and talks to my mom no matter how republican she may be !
Got a VCH done here by a guest piercer- the shop is gorgeous and SO clean!!! It is worth the trip if you have a long way to travel like me. When it comes to body modification procedures why would you trust a hole in the wall shop with an ex-convict wielding a miniature weapon? New Flower is everything you could ask for and more- Clean, professional, safe, comfortable, bright, and airy! Not your stereotypical "piercing joint". This place is great for everyone!
Review Source:How GREAT is this place!!
I went in with my bestie to get her nose pierced and decided to take advantage of their Black Friday sale and get pierced myself. John (the hottie with the dreads) took amazing care of me. I really could not have had a better experience! LOVE this place and cant wait to go back to pick up the Blue Lagoon Glass Drops and get my septum pierced. YAY NEW FLOWER STUDIO for doing it the best way!
This is the cleanest and most professional studio I have ever been in. John is a true artist! He placed my dermals in such a way that I can only call it an art. He is quick, professional, and smooth. Let me say that again, QUICK, PROFESSIONAL, and SMOOTH.
Ya know those places where you get pierced by some jaded ex rocker who just jabs you somewhere near the desired location, fills the hole with shoddy jewelry, and then all but slaps your ass on the way out? Not this place!
John treated me with patience and kindness. His steady hands, serious attitude, and confidence in his trade speaks volumes. His studio is classy and he sells high end jewelry because for some of us, this is more than a trend/fad. Some of us wear diamonds in their ears, with John, I'm confident I could be wearing them in my nipples.
I've only met John, the owner, but he's a great guy, and an excellent piercer! He has a ton of experience, but he still listens to his customers gut feeling. Â The only bad thing I can say, is that he's rebel affiliated, so don't bring up Emperor Palpatine or Lord Vader. lol! Seriously, though, he knows his stuff and won't try to up-sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need!
Review Source:New Flower Studio is the best place to go for your piercing and body jewelry. Â I was happy to see they are open on Sundays and Chris Glunt helped me pick out my new favorite swan earrings. Â Chris is a professional who has the answers to any question you could think of so if I do decide to get another piercing I would be very confident to have him do it for me. Â There is so much awesome jewelry I didn't know how to decide what to get now and what to come back for. Â The studio is really nice and you will not be disappointed with their service. Â Definitely recommended to anyone interested in body piercing.
Review Source:Went here last Sunday for one of their promos they were doing.
Very clean and welcoming!
Got my nipples done by Chris G. (only works sundays)
He was AWESOME. Very patient and professional. I would definitely go back! I was REALLY frantic and hesitant but Chis walked me through the whole way without loosing focus and patience and that says A LOT because honestly .. i was kind of a mad woman! It has only been a day but my nipples feel great and most importantly THEY'RE EVEN!!!! Highly recommend Chris for all your piercing needs. New Flower has an ample amount of jewelery but they're kind of pricy .. on the bright side you'll know you're getting the best!
Lastly, they gave me a card with my piercing info i.e., jewelery style, size., etc
and ideal dates they would like if i came back for a check up. Its a nice feeling to know that they take pride in their work and are concerned with the well being of their customers and it's not a one time thing where they forget about you and your not their "problem" anymore. If you're in the area New Flower is the place to go, come check it out to add some new bling!
Johnny Boy!! You are at the level of professionalism every piercer should strive to be at. Clean, proficient, experienced and with years of recognition to support any of these claims. My Medusa was impeccably placed and John has a way of making his guests feel at ease and deterred from the situation that is being stabbed in various places of the bod. Thanks for being so damn awesome. :)
Review Source:Wow! Â What an amazing place! Â First off, you walk in and you can tell the place is completely clean and professional. Â Seeing John's certificates and certifications on the wall make you feel at ease. Â I actually went in, not to get a piercing, but to get advice on one. Â I had my tragus pierced for about 15 years and had hoops in them. Â They never once gave me any trouble. Â A week ago I decided to switch out the hoops for studs, and got them done in some place in Orange County. Â All was good until my left piercing started to hurt like you wouldn't believe. Â I didn't want to go back where I got the piercing switched, so I looked on Yelp and found great reviews for New Flower Studio. Â So I came in, and John took a look at it and examined it. Â You could tell by the questions he was asking me, he knew his stuff. Â And he wasn't trying to sell me on buying new piercings (the studs I got were not top of the line). Â He gave me a bag of sea salt and told me what to do. Â He did all of this without asking for anything! Â 2 days later, the piercing is completely fine, and this studio has a new fan. Â I will be going back to eventually get my studs changed out, nothing but the best for me!
Review Source:first time ever getting a piercing since the third grade at claires haha, John did a great job on keeping me relaxed and it didn't hurt as much as i thought it would. Definitely going there again for more piercings! Got my second piercings on my earlobes and a cartilage piercing :) so stoked!
Review Source:I had been looking for a new place and piercer for awhile as the tattoo shop I used to go to relocated. I found out about John and his New Flower Studio (luckily) through Living Social and reading the reviews on Yelp. Not only did I get a sweet deal (though I'd totally go regardless of the deal) but from the minute I stepped into the studio, I knew I would never want to go anywhere or to anyone else and here's why:
Studio:
- well air conditioned
- interior and exterior is clean
- interior is bright
- plenty of parking, easy to find
- great atmosphere
- good choice of music and low - very relaxing
- great selection of jewelry
- reasonably priced (best prices around, imo)
- smells nice
John:
- educates you each step of the way - from the consultation, video, his recommendation(s), during your session and aftercare
- keeps you calm
- makes sure you're feeling okay
- great communication
- makes sure he gives you what YOU want
- very knowledgeable
- kind
- patient
- honest
- understanding
- down to earth...just a cool guy all around
- talks to you as if you are a friend
- very professional
- very welcoming
- offers you tea! I mean...can you find another piercer that offers you tea? I think not.
- is raw/vegan - I, too, am raw/vegan (inspired by his friend Ani Phyo) and love that my piercer is also (brownie points)
Like a previous reviewer mentioned, I too, do not like needles and sure enough I never saw them. I just now thought about that when I was reading some of the recent reviews, ha! Well done, John.
All in all, I will definitely be back and recommend him to everyone I know including random strangers. I couldn't be happier and more satisfied with my session. I walked in with a smile and left with a smile. Thanks again, John. You're the man!
John Johnson had the right idea to open this studio. The energy is great, he makes you feel so comfortable! This is how every piercing experience should be. The fact that he really takes the time to educate you about the whole process is huge. You can tell he loves what he does !
Not only does he love it- he does it well! I came in with a little bit of a challenge .. A slightly deviated septum and lots of scar tissue. So yeah..this is the 4th time getting my septum pierced and I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER! I will not be taking this out ever!
The jewelry selection is great of course and the price is crazy reasonable! Great location with plenty of parking, easy to find and close to both the 405 and 7th street! Â
I have no doubt if you choose to get pierced here you will absolutely enjoy every part of the experience.
My first step into the store was welcomed with a warm hello and every second after that was even friendlier! I could not ask for a better place to go to, what with the soothing music and his professional yet soft voice. John not only is friendly but extremely informative and talks you through every single step so there's no anxiousness whatsoever. He even makes the procedure humorous with his "You know your grandma always told you the best cure/medicine for anything is a smile". His warmth and kindness makes everything very calming. I had actually gotten an industrial piercing today and it didn't even bleed, nor am I in any pain right now. Thanks to John, I had the smoothest experience ever for a 1st time professional piercing. :]
Review Source:John did such an awesome job on my Monroe when he was at Outer Limits that he was the first piercer I recommended when my boyfriend mentioned wanting to get a cartilage piercing. He's got a great eye for placement, is very knowledgable, and is really good at explaining things to his clients. I love that he keeps the atmosphere at his shop relaxed and casual without being unprofessional or lazy--he obviously puts a lot of effort and care into his work.
Since my boyfriend doesn't have a Yelp account, here's what he had to say about his experience with John: "You can tell how good a piercer is by how they talk to you; he told me exactly what he was doing at every point leading up to the piercing, he made sure I was comfortable, and when it finally went through, I was so relaxed it barely hurt. The guy knows his shit and I'm gonna go back to him."
I got my naval pierced here a few days ago and had a great experience. The environment is very mellow and casual, but still professional and clean. Body piercer (and amateur astronomer) John Johnson seems to know and care a lot about what he does and makes his customers feel very comfortable. He even told me the gem on the barbell I selected is called "alexandrite", which was kind of neat. Â He seemed genuinely interested in my recovery and scheduled free check-ups in the next few weeks.
Best of all though, it was done quickly. The piercing is healing nicely so far.
Where ever John goes, I go. I don't trust anyone else. Came in for earlobe piercings (3rd set).
Absolutely love the ease of booking online.
John is talented, well versed in his profession and makes you feel completely safe. He has a fabulous collection of GOLD jewelry and I especially love the wooden earrings. The best stuff. No cheaply made crap here and good prices too. There isn't enough yelp stars to rate him. I wish I could pierce more places so I could have a good excuse just to come back...wait, just had a thought. tee hee. If you want a safe environment and great service, this is the place to go.
