Got a tattoo by a guy named Israele here. The entire staff was polite, professional and its a great atmosphere. The place is very clean, they took their time setting up (a good thing) and Israele made sure I was comfortable and not in too much pain (as it was my first tattoo.)
Im a bit of a drive from Venice, but I will 100% come back there for future work.
They take cash and card, preferring cash (theres a fee for card.)
Ocean Front Tattoo is possibly the best tattoo shop in Venice. Â The guys are fantastic. Â I've been three times to get piercings done by Young. Â He's always friendly, funny, and helpful. Â The last time I went, I got a small tattoo done by Rich. Â Everything was sterile, he took his time to set up, and we got to work. Â Every one I have met here has been awesome. Â I do not hesitate to recommend friends OR strangers to Ocean Front. Â Even when I'm not getting something do and I'm in the area, I like to stop by and just say hi. Â If you're visiting Venice and want a good experience, stop by here for your tattoo or piercing! Â If you are lucky enough to be a local, youll love it!
Review Source:Great experience - Myke, the owner, was so helpful and gentle with my piercings! Everything was super clean and professional - dont be fooled by the location. It's been a couple days and I'm pretty pain free. He even gave me his card and said to call him if I have questions/issues. Â Thanks, Myke!
Review Source:I'm from Atlanta, Ga and I came to Cali for a few days. I thought it would be cool to get my bellybutton pierced while I was here since I planned on getting it next month for my 18th birthday. I first went to a place on Sunset and was told that along with my parent consent I would need my birth certificate. Anyway I went down to Venice and read the reviews from yelp and walked in.
I was really nervous and still unsure but I talked to the guy for a second and he was very helpful and also just needed parent consent. It cost me $40 and then I bought a small bottle of cleaner for $10. The piercing took one minute and it looks great! The pain wasn't even that bad it was just sore a little after but nothing unbearable.
Overall the place was really clean and nice compared to some others on Venice Beach. The guy who pierced me was nice, helpful, and experienced since I was only in there for a total of maybe 15-20mins. He even gave me his card so that when I go home I can call for questions. Highly recommended!!!
Did some research and came across this place on yelp. It had some great reviews so we were sold. My boyfriend got a piece done by Isaac. Isaac is in on the weekends and has a great portfolio! He did an amazing job! He is also experienced, professional, and great to talk to! Very talented! Thank you! I definitely recommend that you go in on the weekend and request him!
Review Source:The people at Ocean Front Tattoo are top-notch. Â They were patient, thorough and helpful in getting you prepared for art that you will have on your body for life. Â Isaac was very nice and helpful. Â He made you feel welcome and at ease. Â I would love to come all the way back to California for them to do work on me. Â Tattoos can be a scary thing for a first timer and they made you feel comfortable to be there. Â My hat is off to these professionals.
Review Source:I got my cartilage pierced here and honestly it was a great experience, myke the guy who did it was super sweet and nice. He let me know when it was going to happen so I could take a big breath in and asked me multiple times if I was okay even though I was. From walking into the shop (my cartilage cost 30) to heading back to my car, it probably took 5 mins at the most. I highly recommend this place and myke for all piercings, everything was either opened in front of me or sterilized in front of me.
PS- free parking in the back! In Venice, that's a luxury :)
SCRATCH THAT! The "surgical stainless steel" earring disintegrated in my ear and completely infected the piercing on that side. I was able to order some new real stainless steel earrings and after replacing it and giving my ear some TLC (ie salt water soaks) it recovered but my skin is sensitive so this was important. I wish this place used better materials because they were fine otherwise.
Review Source:These people are awsome! Jose did such great work! They all do but jose did my tattoo :). I LOVE my tattoo its soooo awsome and great. These people are really chill and cool and supper funny :D.
This shop saved me from searching for the perfect shop to get my first tattoo done. I was searching for a month for the perfect tattoo shop and when i came across Ocean Front i knew that was the shop. The art on the wall was great. Looking through everybodys portfolio i knew i could be proud of my tattoo and want to show it off to everybody. Its very clean and they make you feel welcome and there music selection is awsome cause they play everything ( i was lowkey singing while getting tatted). Then when they gave me the price! Oh man i got super excited and was couldn't wait to get my tattoo done and made an app. on the spot!
I love this place and forsure coming back for more tattoos! maybe next week or something :) I mos def recommend this place to everybody.
Shout out to myke for the awesome piercings! I got both my lobes done; it's been 36 hours, and I don't feel any pain at all (not sure if this is normal though, but I'm not complaining).
The shop had a slight-slight-SLIGHT gritty feel to it, but that's not to say the staff aren't clean! Gloves were worn at all times, all instruments were either already sterilized (packaged), or were sterilized in front of me.
Overall, the procedure took maybe 15 minutes from walk-in to walk-out. Fun story: walking out of the shop, dazed from adrenaline, I tripped over the waiting room chairs, caught myself, and Myke asked if I was okay.
Gotta say, if you're reading this, myke, I'm GREAT, and really lovin' the studs. Thank you so much!
My friend recommended this place to me because they are professional, friendly, and clean. I have to 100% agree! The guy who did my belly button piercing named myke was very helpful and nice. Although $40 is a bit pricey (I was hoping for $30) I think it is a good deal considering how clean it was and the wonderful employees :)
Review Source:Had a huge 12 yr old piece that wrapped all the way around my hips. Â Did painstaking research to find competent artist to touch up and brighten it. Â After 10 hrs under the buzzing needles I walked out of that shop (not All Star) w/ a MESS! Â I'll spare you the unhappy details, just say muddy sloppy work and many tears. Â Had no faith it could be saved, resigned to carrying ugly art forever. Â I was wrong. Â Alex at All Star somehow managed to not only re-create the flowing sophistication and grace of the original work, he made it even better! Â I couldn't be happier, can't stop looking at my now BEAUTIFUL tattoo. Â Alex is truly an artist, I'm grateful I walked into All Star.
Review Source:My nose, my belly button, and soon 6 piercings on my ears, these guys are great! I refer all my friends to them.
My overall experience here was fantastic. He was confident, so as was I. I keep forgetting his name when I head over there, but he's the only piercer. This is the only piercing/tattoo place I will go to on the boardwalk!
Both my piercings are not completely healed, but I'm sure all will go well!
So, my mom came to visit me this past weekend. Â It was her first time in LA, even though I've been living here for over 8 years now. Â Our first stop was Venice Beach. Â I knew that the earthy chaos of it all, drum circles and palm readings, would appeal to her hippie nature. Â Of course, she loved it. Â
At some point in the afternoon she looked at me and said, "I want to get my nose pierced and I want it to look just like yours." Â
I was expecting this. Â I wasn't expecting her to make the request on the Venice boardwalk. Â I was hesitant, but she was insistent, so we made an agreement. Â If we could find a spot where the price was right and the head piercer or studio owner could pass my series of questioning, then she could get her nose pierced. Â
The first place we stopped wanted $50. Â WHAT?? Â The second place we stopped only wanted $35 which seemed reasonable so I asked the about his sterilization techniques. Â He threw a bottle of some nondescript sterilizer at me. Â I was unimpressed. Â Even my mom knows what an autoclave is. Â Then I asked him his recommendations for cleaning the new piercing. Â "Mouthwash," he said. Â :-( Â
It wasn't looking good for moms.
As we passed All Star she jumped and shouted so I agreed to look at one more place. Â We were greeted at the door with a friendly smile and handshake. Â I was quoted $30 for the piercing. Â The shop was cute and clean and the piercer was super sweet. Â He could tell my mom was nervous so he gave her some topical numbing agent. Â He was equipment was sealed and sterile. Â He took great care of mom!
She LOVES her piercing. Â It didn't hurt a bit, she said, either during or after. Â There's been no swelling and no inflammation. Â We're both very happy!
Thanks All Star!
I been looking around at shops near my pad and around and decided to check out Venice as a possibility. Â They had about 4 spots there, but the one that I thought seemed good was here at All Star. Â I looked through some books and saw some cool designs. Â The artist Jon said he can make any pic unique and come to life. Â Trusting him, I let him do his bit on my calf. Â 4 hours and pain later, I fell in love with it. Â I am so happy with it. Â I have 2 others and this one takes the cake. Â This is definately a good spot with great artists.
Review Source:Wakey wakey...it's Sunday, time to brunch! Â I love my Sundays with my fabulous friends. Â Little did I know this was going to be a full day!!
We started with some lovely attendees at the Mustard Seed..got some yummy bacon and pancakes...whoo hoo. Â That Pirates Chai is killer.
Shortly after we had a leisure walk up hill, down hill, and up kill (I mean hill) back to Diana house on Washington Mtn. Â Shopping was in the air so we hit awesome Glendale...yeah baby. Â Then it was time to get some cheap huge sunglasses. Â I could never keep up with sunglasses...so cheap is the way. Â Where is the best place to get huge glasses, Venice beach of course. Â Strollin down the chilly board walk of Venice beach we wanted to do something simple and memorable, which brings us to All Star.
Oh yes, my gurl Diana and I decided to poke holes in our body, and so much fun it was! Â I was a bit nervous bc I hate needles. Â Larry the piercing artist asked me to lift my shirt and he so kindly cleaned my belly button (eeww, I know), such a brave man. Â I lay on the table while looking into Diana's eyes. Â He clamped me, and I thought, wow, that was easy. Â I thought was over. Â Next a piercing pain, I look at Diana and smiled...like a psycho little nut...she said, the hard part is over. Â Then Larry said, well I still got to put the jewelry in. Â Oh great! Â Another piercing...then, it was almost over. Â Not such a bad pain, until he poured the alcohol on it. Â I exclaimed to Larry, "blow!" Â Blow on it you germy sick mess. Â Not really caring about that germy part, just the open wound. Ha ha.
So it was over, I had an Asian Ghetto gurl encouraging me the whole time. Â Thanks Larry, it wasn't that bad at all. Â He gave me some great directions on how to keep it uninfected and pretty. Â Green looks good on brown skin. Â :)
Yay to sporadic moments with my Diana! Â
Over all, Larry gets all my stars!!
The days continued at Korean bbq, and Cee's house, but later I will tell!
should we?? shouldn't we???
FUCK IT...we're gonna get stabbed today!!
after a awesome day of brunch (at mustard seed), shopping and shlupping, me and my wonderful T mama went to venice beach to find some cheap-o extra huge wanna be rockstar sunglasses.
after picking up a hot pair we walked by this place and said, "hmmmmmmm.......girllll...we needs to get ON THIS"
we mosey on in and Larry the awesome-est piercer ever came over and persuaded us to look through his portfolio of his work.
Mama T decided on a belly piercing and i decided on a nose stud.
i must say my T.B did just wonderful laying down on that table while big bad larry stuck that huge needle through her.
I on the other hand teared up like a damn baby and screamed to myself in my head, "WHY GOD WHY???"
but dude, can i just say we look SUPA FLY and i am so glad that i did it. wouldn't have done it with anyone else.
if u ever go here ask for Larry and he will def treat you right!!!
