I went here after searching many tattoo artist in the pacific northwest and this was closer than Seattle. I went down and made my appointment for a few weeks out to give the artist time to work with the references I had provided. I called a few days prior to my appointment and asked if I could come down and see the sketch to approve it. When I called the artist was out sick and wouldn't be back till the day before my appointment... being someone that got easily sick I understood.
When I showed up for my appointment I found out the artist had not even STARTED on the picture yet. She no longer had the references I had printed out just some small sketches the person who took the original information had done. My friend and myself sat there for an hour waiting for her to draw up the tattoo and I was HORRIFIED with it.
I had wanted wording from the LOVELESS poem and three very iconic game swords and feathers that would tie into the wording. For those that know Final Fantasy 7 I was looking at the buster sword, Masamune and Rapier, three very iconic and three very different swords. She told me she had lost the references so I showed her on my phone. Swords are very different in size and what she came back with were three swords of identical size that looked like a bloody 2 year old had tried to draw them!
Because I had already spent so long down there and the wording looked fine, so I told her to do just the feathers and the wording. Now that the tattoo has healed the wording is blown out and some of it is hard to read. I really wished I had just walked out..
Even if I still lived in Washington I would never go back. I'm going to try and get it fixed if I can find a good artist to do it.
I am incredibly impressed with Painless Steel! I called prior to going and the lady I talked to took her time answering my questions and made me feel welcome. I was still nervous to go into a tattoo shop by myself, but felt better after just driving by. Â It is very clean and professional looking with a bright, wide open foyer. Â
I was greeted immediately by Jer who is very friendly and smiled at by the other people behind the counter. Â I told them what I wanted and it took less than 5 minutes before I was in a room waiting to have my tragus pierced.
Jer is AWESOME! Â Seeing that I was nervous, he offered to get another piercer (lady) to hold my hand. Â They were both amazing and conversational taking my mind off the procedure. Â The piercing was not near as uncomfortable as I'd anticipated and is healing well. The room and entire place is clean, bright and sanitary.
One week after getting the piercing I called again to ask some questions about what type of jewelry to look for when it is time to change. Â Jer is very patient and knowledgeable - I recommend him!
Oh, my husband had his labret pierced later the same day and had just as positive of an experience. If we ever have other tattoos or piercings we're going back here!
I got my tragus pierced here in November and it's healing wonderfully. I had a great experience at this shop. My friend and I came in on a tuesday evening and there was only one other customer there. It was a really relaxed, chill atmosphere. The person at the counter greeted us and was helpful and knowledgable about the jewelry and helped us pick out the right stuff. The piercer (Jer) was awesome! He was super cool about how nervous I was and talked me through the whole thing. Its reassuring that they keep everything super clean here. The only thing downside was that I wasn't expecting the total to come to about $80. But it's all worth it, because I got the highest quality jewelry and an excellent piercing!
Review Source:Jer is the guy to see! His GF is one of the gals behind the counter! I try to talk with her because she is very knowledgeable when I have questions he may not available to answer! I believe if your in the business its important everyone is educated equally! Not usually that lucky. But here you get the answers your looking for! Â The prices are unbeatable! You can get a discount for bringing in a friend! I have referred so many friends I can no longer keep track! But every one of them has been grateful that I sent them there! Cleanliness matters in a business like this and Painless Steel is top of the list for sanitary environments!
Review Source:I wish I could give a better review. Â I had my very first tattoo done here 8 years ago and was perfectly pleased with it, so when I decided to get my tongue pierced I was perfectly willing to return to Painless Steel to have it done. Â Painless Steel is nice and clean, and the piercer was friendly. Â My issue may be an exception to the rule, but it is an issue nevertheless. Â I got my tongue pierced with a size 14 gauge purple titanium barbell. Â 3 days later the piercing started sinking into my tongue. Â This morning (Monday) it had sunk in so far that the skin of my tongue had covered it more than half way and I was getting nervous. Â They were closed today so I went to a different studio where they explained to me that they should not have used any smaller than a size 12 gauge barbell, and that the bead was way too small, and the bar was not long enough to accommodate for the swelling, which was causing the bead to burrow down. Â I do feel confident that if Painless Steel had been open today, they may have fixed it for me which is why I am giving 3 stars. Â The piercing experience was still a comfortable one, just be sure to ask for a longer bar and a larger bead if you get piercings done here. Â :)
Review Source:I have been going to Painless since it opened over 10 years ago. Â I had my 1st tattoo done here. Â The 2 guys put on some GWAR (loudly) and celebrated my 1st tattoo with me! Â It just happend to be the day before 9/11. Â Since then I have been back for an eyebrow piercing. Â Great piercer. Â Great selection of jewelry. Â Had a 2nd tattoo done by a different artist, which was totally awesome. Â Great Price!! Â I needed to have my eyebrow stretched and they did it for free, so I bought an eyebrow ring to show my appreciation. Â Love this shop!
Review Source:I had my three dime-sized stars on my wrist that were filled in & I spent about $90 tip included. They don't take appointments over the phone but surprisingly they made an exception for me.
The artist was very friendly & made me feel comfortable.
I would go back again & recommend it to anyone.
The facility is super clean. Not much clutter like I've seen at a couple tattoo parlors.
I went here back in July to have my nostril done. I was promptly greeted. Everything looked so good and clean in the shop so I felt comfortable. He had me fill out a waiver and then had me pick my jewelry out. He didn't let me know the cost of what I had picked and I should have asked but it was like $30! I didn't know until after he had done my piercing. Oh well. He was great and knew I was nervous, he did it quick and was really good about me being somewhat of a sissy about it. He explained the healing process and how to clean it. Overall a great experience but when it was all said and done it was $70!!! That seems like a ton of money for this piercing. I love the way it turned out and if I was going to stick any other holes in my body, I would go back to them for sure.
Review Source:My first experience with this place was when my friend got her nose pierced. It was a really great experience so when I decided to get my lip done they were my first choice. I went in on a Friday night and there were 3 employees there and 1 customer. No one said a word to us as my boyfriend and I walked in. We looked around for a little bit and still no one had even acknowledged we were there. One girl was playing on the computer, one guy was just standing there looking bored and one was actually helping the only other customer in there. Finally the guy who was busy helping someone else came over really quick and asked what we were there for. He brought over the release form for me to fill out and then it was back to waiting. We waited for a LONG time. At one point I was flipping through the tattoo artists books because I was so bored and the girl on the computer asked me if I wanted to know about tattoos. I said no and she quickly walked away, never once asked if I had been helped. People who had come in way later were helped before me and my boyfriend. I almost walked out. Finally it was time to go get my lip done. I first had to pick my jewelry. They had cheap $17 pieces of crap or $30 good jewelry...nothing in between. I went with the more expensive jewelry but I was disappointed with the lack of choices. So we go back to the area and the guy gets all ready. I will say they are VERY clean about everything. Instruments are clean, shop is clean. The guy, I believe his name was Eric clamped my lip and then realized he hadn't told me what he was going to do. So he un-clamped my lip and started over. Finally we get to the actual piercing and he gets the shakes. BAD. I almost didn't want him touching my face. He stopped for a second to collect himself and started again and the same thing happened. His hand was shaking HARD. He finally got the piercing done and it turned out good. I was pleased with it but it was not the experience I thought I would be having. I don't know that I would go back there for anything else other than to buy jewelry.
Review Source:I just got a nose piercing here earlier today, and I couldn't be more pleased. I was pretty nervous about the pain and almost backed out, but as soon as I was greeted walking in I felt much better. The lady informed me she had 4 nose piercings she got from the shop and it was quick & almost painless. She was correct. The guy talked me through it the whole time and I was very pleased with the experience. If you want any piercings done right and nearly pain free...go here. The people are very friendly and professional.
Review Source:I took my 16 year old daughter here to get her eyebrow pierced. We were welcomed as a walk in and met with a professional yet casual friendly matter. We both felt very comfortable. The lobby is HUGE and very light, not like a dark tattoo palor. It was a family friendly atmosphere, although I do not know if young children are allowed in. It was very clean everywhere and the front counter reminded me of a jewelry store. Â Everyone was very knowledgeable. Jerry did her piercing and was very calm and let her know of each step. He was friendly, gentle and patient, yet the actual piercing was very quick. They are informative with the after care and welcome any questions. I highly recommend them and look forward to going back for my tattoo needs/wants.
Review Source:I've been here for both tattoos and piercings. Kodiak is awesome, he's done three of my tats so far and can always touch em up if need be. I forgot the name of the piercer (something to do with fingers...?) but he was awesome. Let's just say I got a piercing "down under" and he was very nice and professional about it. I usually go in every 6 months to get something done, and they usually remember me.
The shop is nice, roomy, and clean. They have a great selection of body jewelry.
I have three tattoos and my first was done here. They were great about informing me and preparing me. Clean and open. For basic piercings and tattoos I think they are great. In fact if I get anymore piercings I would definitely go here. The one thing I am not a huge fan of is other times when I've walked in with a friend to get a piercing there has been a male machismo feeling. Not the most welcoming. It's been awhile and for a quick shove of a needle through my body I'd find out if things have changed.
