The BEST tattoo studio I have ever been to!!! Nickhole is THE BEST I would recommend her to anyone!!! She has worked on my arm for about 9 hours so far and it is beautiful. There are no words for how much I love what is done so far. She is a true genius. I got pregnant halfway through the progress of my sleeve so I have to put the whole thing on hold for now. But I can't wait to finish ASAP!! Everyone else in there is amazing as well. They are all super professional and truly love what they do. I have watched numerous tattoos go out as I sat there and they were all amazing!
Review Source:I found Spidermonkey Tattoo on Yelp, and I am glad I did my research.
The place itself has a great "vibe" and there is plenty of interesting art on the walls to look at while you are getting inked. I am not much of a tattoo enthusiast, in fact I was there to get a cover-up of my only tattoo, but I felt very comfortable...everything was super-clean and professional.
There are portfolios to look at, no cheesy clip-art, and some of the artists are booked out for a while. I guess that is a testament to how reputable they are.
The Wizard Garrett did my cover up, and I am now delighted. I had a tribal heart with black and red fading to pink, and had 4 sessions of laser removal, and it was still there in a big way. I got a lotus flower (after a helpful consultation on another day) and you absolutely cannot tell the old tattoo was ever there. Instead, a pink lotus with purple and blue water...it looks like a beautiful watercolor instead of the second biggest mistake I ever made (lol_). It hurt a lot more when he was going over the stuff that the laser had already hit, but I didn't care. I'm a big wimp anyway, and Garrett totally put up with it. I think I am good with just the tattoo I have now, but if I ever get another, I know where to go!
Best tattoo shop I've ever been to. And I've been to quite a few around here. Being a girl I've found it is really hard to find a tattoo shop that you feel comfortable in and a tattoo artist that is chill, friendly, respectful, and of course is awesome at they do! Everyone here is that way. Even though I try to be loyal and that's why I've been to Matthew twice, I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to get tattooed by all of them... They are just all so awesome in many ways! Don't waste your time trying anywhere else like I did.
Review Source:After looking around the olympia area for a tattoo parlor, my wife and I finally decided on Spidermonkey, not only because of the good reviews but because we enjoyed the looked the the artists styles. We walked in and instantly were greeted by the Wizard Garrett. He asked what we wanted, which we already had printed out. He liked them and asked sizes and if there was anything we wanted him to add. Everybody was super friendly. When he put it on the transfer paper, he asked us several times if it was the right size and placement. For my wife's, he re-did it 3 times because it looked crooked to him, asking for others opinions before finally getting it right. I liked that he didn't just accept it and put effort into his work. The results came out perfect. We only got lettering, but it was spot on. The only thing I don't like is they pay by the hour instead of by the piece. He worked really quickly so it wasn't that big of a deal though. He was very engaging as far as conversation wnt, so it felt even quicker. The next piece we get will definitely be here.
Review Source:I'd give this place 5 stars if they gave me a correct quote, the tattoo was done beautifully and the place is sanitary while having talented artist. Thing is, I was told I'd have a $100 tattoo and it ended up being 165....pretty big difference. My design was so simple too but the lady just talked so much and kept stopping for no reason so the minutes flew by and instead of taking under an hour, it took over an hour so they charge ME for her taking too long. extra 65 for no excusable reason.
Review Source:I just got my first tattoo at Spidermonkey two days ago from Cane. Â The entire experience was awesome. Â To start off, here is a good example of how this shop is better than others in the area. Â When we showed up, Cane was running a little late and they asked us if we wouldn't mind waiting about 30 minutes. Â The waiting area (which is a little small) was filled with people so we walked around Olympia for a little while, no big deal. Â During that time we passed two other tattoo shops that were completely empty. Â Definitely a good sign that I had picked the right place. Â Then when we went back Cane was ready and got started right away. Â Based on my description of what I wanted he managed to produce exactly what I had imagined to the tiniest detail. Â Everyone who has seen the artwork is extremely impressed. Â I will definitely be going to Spidermonkey again soon for my next bit of work.
Review Source:Fuck ya this place rocks I got my last tattoo done by Cane. I came in with a draft of what I wanted and scheduled my apt. When I got thare for my apt. Cane was as excited as I was to do the tattoo we talked a bit and he showed me what he had drawn up it was awsome. Â When he was done the detail and were amazing it turned out way better than I thought. if your going to get a tattoo go here its not just a tattoo its art.
Review Source:Everyone at the shop does incredible, high quality work. They know how to make you feel comfortable and are great at perfecting a vague idea (in case you are as indecisive as me). Â The shop is nice, clean and sanitary. All of my tattoos from there have healed up quickly & beautifully!
I have personally had work done by Lexi and Skrappy. Lexi does great japanese art & I always have a great time hearing about his world-wide travels. Skrappy does beautiful detail work and coloring that really pops.  I have a small bird on my wrist  from Skrappy that gets almost daily complements on the detail.
There are many great shops in the Olympia area, but Spider Monkey is by far the best in my opinion. I can't wait to get more work from some of the other artists there! Do yourself a favor and check em out!!
Having had a less than desirable experience at the shop- the artist i had a poor experience with read my previous review and contacted me to apologize. He sincerely apologized up and down and seemed truly sorry for my poor experience and really wanted to make things right- which i appreciate. Any other artist would have probably just taken it personally and tried to start drama but he was very professional and apparently the shop offers free touch ups which is a perk i did not know about, however i have grown very fond of my more local tattoo parlor and their prices are more in my range. I have gone through all the tattoo artists' photos of tattoos they have done (on their website) and it is all incredibly impressive, people i have spoken with about tattoo parlors who have claimed to have been to spider monkey had nothing but great things to say about the shop and the staff, my experience was more than likely a fluke so no hard feelings. Also the review by "Dick D." is obviously completely fake as the shop does NOT do piercings at all- and a ball piercing can not cause infertility- funny- but a complete troll post.
Review Source:I had my tattoo done by Scrappy. It was a somewhat complicated tattoo, and I went in there not really giving him very much lead way to work with, but it was like he read my mind and he gave me EXACTLY what I wanted. The shop was extremly clean and very professional. Will defineatly go back. GO TO SCRAPPY
Review Source:Even if you aren't getting a tattoo, GO VISIT THIS SHOP! Each of the artists (they are all TRUE ARTISTS) is very unique and passionate about what they do. This is illustrated in every inch of decor that doesn't include a bit of the purchased coloring book-esque flash other shops seem to use as wallpaper. Even after 15 or so hours sitting for my and my wife's pieces, I never got bored looking around exploring the "sole" of Spidermonkey Tattoos.
Our work was done by Skrappy, who is as much an awesome person as he is an artist. If you want a one-of-a-kind work of art, bring your ideas in, let one of the awesome people in the front help you decide which artist's style fits you best, and try not to cry when they do what they do best!
Had my first Tattoo done by Lexi......AWESOME job! It is healing nicely and only took me a week to get in with him! (had some cancellations their loss my gain!) Now were making an appointment for my husband! wasn't much more expensive than some other places and WAY SANITARY and professional!
Review Source:There are many options for getting a tattoo in Olympia. Â After looking at most of the places in town and getting a tattoo at one other place, I have come to the conclusion that this place is the best - at least for me. Â Not that there aren't other great places in town, but this is the one I will go back to. I have gotten two tattoos there, one by Caine and one by an artist that is no longer there. I was very impressed by Caine's artistic work on the piece I wanted. His philosophy on transforming another artist's work into a tattoo, and maintaining the integrity of the work, was exactly what I needed. The result was better than I imagined when I was visualizing what it would look like. I will be back.
Yes, Bryan is fantastic, but check out the other tattoo artists here as well.
Got recommended here by a friend. Didn't regret going here one bit! Quality tattoo artists and a clean shop. All the guys here do an amazing job on anything you can think of. Their website has a bunch of artwork and tattoo examples if you wanna see some of the stuff they've done but I'm telling you this is THE place to go to in Olympia!
Got my tattoos done by Matt. He's a quality guy that cares a lot about his artwork and tattooing and he has a passion for it. Bryan is amazing and he owns the shop. If you get anything done from him you will have to plan out pretty far because he's a busy guy.
I love the location too, it's right by Old School Pizzeria and that place is bomb after a couple of hours under the needle :) Oh, and the artists don't mind if you share a bit with them ;) TIP YOUR TATTOO ARTIST!
This is as good as it gets!! Â Get your tatts from Lil' Bryan...awesome guy with great skills. Â He has done both of my chest panels and both half sleeves for me....one of the sleeves was a huge cover up too. Â I will deinitely get back in his chair if I am up in the area...or when he is down here in the bay for tattoo conventions. Â He has won multiple awards and continues to grow his portfolio. Â Yo guys...if he isn't as great as I say he is...I wouldn't fly up from Cali just to get tatts from him. Â Like bryan said..."many great artists in the SF Bay Area"...but I prefer Bryan Childs. Â Just note that his reservations schedule is probably booked 9 to 12 months out. Â Bryan - If you see this, hit me up when you are in the Bay...need more work!!
