I had been searching for an artist to do a large cover up that most said could not be done. I found Perry through a friend some years back and decided to give him a call. Perry assured me that it could be done and he'd be happy to tackle it - I gave him free reign to design something. Although I was nervous due to the many who claimed it was not possible I booked the appointment.
Upon arrival, the shop was extremely clean and the staff was extra friendly. His pricing is fair and worth every penny. Perry made the mess I had look like a beautiful, fresh work of art. The piece is smooth and the colors are vibrant. I could not be happier with the work he did.
Highly recommend Splash of Color!
I just had my nose pierced here a few days ago by Kevin. I had been wanting to do this for quite a while, so I researched this place beforehand. I made an appointment the day before--the receptionist on the phone was very nice.
First impressions: this studio is impeccably clean. Feels like a doctor's office or clinic, but with lots of artwork on the walls and music playing. I was greeted right away by a person who turned out to be the piercer I had an appointment with. Signed the paperwork, paid up front, and chose my jewelry right away (they have a pretty good selection). They gave me a baggie with aftercare instructions and supplies. I didn't have to wait long before he called me in to the room to get the piercing done.
Experience: Kevin was so nice and professional. He definitely put me at ease--this was the first time that I've had something other than my ears pierced and was a little nervous. His calm and informed demeanor helped me feel a lot better. He also made sure to ask beforehand if I had any questions and answered them thoroughly. I HATE feeling rushed in this type of setting, and I definitely did not feel rushed here. The piercing procedure was so quick--way faster than those piercing videos that I of course looked up on YouTube beforehand to scare the crap out of myself. 10/10 here. I had no qualms about their sterile procedures. If I ever want another piercing done, I will ask for Kevin again.
Cost: A few other reviewers say this place is pricey. They were running a discount when I came in--10% off piercing and 20% off jewelry, so I ended up paying $58 +tip for the piercing, my jewelry, and H2Ocean spray. I think this is actually a very good deal. They advertise their deals on Facebook, so it's worth following them if you want to wait for a discount.
This was overall a fun, positive experience and I would recommend this place without hesitation.
I have to say this place has such a good energy and feel to it. It is super clean and comfortable. The staff is very helpful, professional, and knowledgeable from a phone call to greeting to follow-up. I spoke with Emily on the phone and she spent a good deal of time speaking with me BEFORE I even walked in the door.
I had my nipples pierced by Renee and Andy (done tandem). Both Renee and Andy were excellent. They answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable during the entire procedure. In fact they did such a good job I decided to go back for a VCH. Renee is definitely someone who wants to make sure you are happy with your experience and piercings. During the VCH she wanted to make sure she was placing it just right for me and consulted with Kevin, the lead piercer. He was very nice and made sure I was OK every step of the way. I would highly recommend all three piercers to anyone!
I see a lot of people complain about the price, but in my opinion you pay for quality and Splash of Color is definitely worth it!
Just got my third tattoo -- and first one here. The other two were acquired in Vegas and Berkeley. Add East Lansing to the good experiences with skinking.
Bart was my artist -- worked with my design (a simple Ironman race logo), listened well, did good work and touched up my other similar tattoo done in Berkeley 15 months ago.
No complaints. Healing well. Looks good. Compliments from my friends. Everything great, including the price and service: everyone was helpful and kind.
Would definitely get another mark here if convenient.
My experience here is limited to getting a replacement ring, so take it as you will.
Yelp'ers weren't kidding when they compared this place to a doctor's office. They are very clean and very professional. I haven't had to consult them on an actual piercing or tattoo, but they were friendly enough for the brief service I needed.
I do, however, have to knock off some stars for how expensive it is. I have had a ring replaced at an equally clean and professional studio for less than half the cost (in a different - and more expensive - part of the country, or I'd name it for y'all to check out). If their tattoos and piercings are similarly expensive, I would still consider coming here, but I'd be looking around elsewhere first.
I got my industrial here about, hmmm  6 years ago or so. I've also had a few tattoos done here as well.
I'm always impressed with their cleanliness and professionalism. It is as clean as a doctor's office and they take very good care of you, making sure that you know the proper steps in cleaning and healing for a new tattoo or piercing. Splash also has a good selection of jewelry if you are looking for something new.
Both of my tattoos are from Splash. I'm giving it 5 stars for it's cleanliness, and friendliness. Very nice to see. They are more than happy to work with you on many levels. Having a variety of different artists in one spot makes it convenient. Highly recommend coming here for your text tattoo or piercing. You will feel comfortable and safe though your entire experience.
Review Source:Before I knew any better, I went to the mall and let them blow out my cartilage with a gun and the infected holes never healed. Â I finally gave up and removed the earrings three years later.
This time around, I figured I would start with the basics and get my lobes pierced....the right way. Â Malls are unsanitary and the staff has very limited training.
Splash was fantastic. Â I am allergic to nickel, but they only use good quality metal. Â It was like walking into a doctors office. Â Very professional, the guy that pierced me was really friendly and thorough.
A year later, I came back to get an industrial piercing and I was equally impressed. Â
Yes, it is pricey, but I would rather pay for quality and get piercings that are going to heal well and last a lifetime.
This place is really awesome and professional about the way they handle their clients.
I went there to get my tongue pierced (yeah, I was young and adventurous). They talked to me about what some of the risks are, and how to correctly care for my piercing after it was done. They were very willing to answer any of the questions that I had.
I felt safe in their hands, and they were really helpful and nice throughout my entire time there.
I love, and most importantly trust, Splash of Color. It is kind of expensive, but I'd rather pay for quality and cleanliness when getting something like a tattoo and/or piercing.
I always go there to buy my nose studs, and I am always impressed by how clean they are. They have the best jewelry and are always more than happy to help explain things to you. They even helped me change my nose stud for free even though I got it pierced at another place.
Speaking of which, I went to a place that did not do a good job and when I called them to ask them about what I should do, one of the piercers was on the phone with me for so long helping me out as much as I could. I really appreciated his help and because of that, I decided to give them as much of my business as possible. If anybody is considering getting a tattoo and/or piercing, I recommend that you go there, they're clean and very helpful.
I love Splash of Color. It is very expensive, but like most anything, you get what you pay for. Splash is very clean and professional, yet relaxing and welcoming.
Renee, a piercer, is AWESOME, and I would recommend her to anyone. She is so kind and sweet, but she also pierces quickly and does an excellent job - and she remembers me even though I she hasn't given me any piercings in like five years. I had some trouble with a piercing I had done at another place, and she helped me out and probably saved my piercing, and more importantly, my ear.
Unfortunately, I can't remember who did my tattoo, but he did an excellent job, and I am so happy with it. It looks great even five years later.
I went to Splash of Color to purchase an earring and the staff was really helpful. First of all, they educated me on the the size variations of earrings, and then helped me find the one that perfectly fit my piercing. Beyond which, they are ridiculously clean. I've worked in medical offices and am aware of proper sterilization methods and Splash of Color follows the same protocol in sterilizing their instruments. While it's pricier than other piercing and tattoo parlors, you are paying for quality.
Review Source:I love, love, LOVE Splash of Color. Yes, it's expensive; I have never gotten a tattoo there, but I somehow still managed to spend over $1000 at Splash of Color during my college career (mostly on body piercings/jewelry). Renee (one of the piercers) is a giant sweetheart so I suggest requesting her for all your piercing needs. I believe my daith piercing is even featured in her portfolio.
Splash is often busy, so I also suggest making an appointment rather than just showing up. The counter staff is usually helpful, and the place is ALWAYS spotless. It almost reminds me of a doctor's office (except the walls are painted way cooler colors).
I have 2 friends who got (large) tattoos from Mikey at Splash and they both love them (but yes, they were expensive). I would recommend checking out Splash if you are interested in a tattoo or piercing and are in the Lansing area!
I have gotten two piercings at Splash and been there numerous times with other friends who were either getting pierced or tattooed. Â I respect Splash because they are PSYCHO about being super clean and you know that your piercing/tat will be done with the utmost care. Â Hands down the only place I would suggest getting pierced or a tat at (in the Mid-Michigan area). Â Because of the location and proximity to MSU, it is usually quite busy so I'd suggest making an appointment. Â They have a good selection of jewelry, as well as tons of books to look through if you don't have a tattoo idea.
