Found their website, liked what I saw and phoned for more info. Spoke with Jeff and he was very pleasant. He answered several questions and when he found out we were driving over from Georgia (adjoining state), he was happy to accommodate an appointment that fit in to our projected drive time. Jeff mentioned that his website needed an updated address, as the shop had just relocated to a larger facility within 10 minutes or so of the old location. He made sure that I had specific directions, including landmarks to look for as we were nearing the shop.
This was our daughters first tattoo and although she was excited and had been waiting not-so-patiently until she was 16 (Georgia law requires that the recipient be 18, Â Alabama allows them at 16 when accompanied by a parent), she doesn't care for needles at all and was more than a bit nervous about the whole process.
We arrived for our appointment and was very surprised at the size of the place. Well lit with plenty of wide open displays of body jewelry, an organized wall system for viewing flash tattoo art and a very spacious waiting area. Not the run-down, cramped and dark studio's we've seen before.
Neon? Absolutely! Â Music? Definitely! Â Too gaudy and too loud? Not even close.
We were greeted promptly and received and apology because the previous two appointments had arrived late and had created a bit of a backlog. The comfy waiting area was definitely a plus at this point.
The process started with Jeff spending some time with us and explaining the entire process to our daughter to ease her concerns. He asked permission to embellish the artwork supplied by our daughter and enhanced it a great deal. It went from a basic outline (what she had considered her starting tattoo, with plans on finishing it over time), to a completed work. He was a friendly, easy going person and kept her informed of each step. He continued his verbal interaction and kept her mind at ease throughout the entire tattooing process.
The cost was not out of line, considering the quality of the work, that he supplied post-tat care items and a "long-assed drive" discount.
Plenty of time explaining post-tat care to the daughter and answering a plethora of questions from her as well. Overall a positive experience for the kidlet's first tattoo.
Just FYI - Although The Tattoo Jungle does not accept credit cards (at least at of the time of this visit), there is an ATM provided inside the shop.
