It's okay.
I like my needles to come from a place that seems sanitary. Idk, this place just didn't put me at ease.
I got two piercings. One in each ear. I can't remember the name of the girl who pierced me but she was pretty thorough and nice. I couldn't decide what I wanted and she kinda just sat there and stared at me which was whatev... Kinda wanted her opinion. My fault for not askin tho.
Anyway, it could be a really cool place. They just need to spice it up and make it look more professional.
Phap is AMAZING!
I didnt get tattooed here...YET! but my brother did, and I just can not stop looking at the work. Its just so detailed, and gorgeous. you can tell it was done with a lot of care, and dignity. He was also really nice. Him and his wife are hella chill.
I cant wait to come here and let him work on me, AND fix the bullshit that Ricky did. smh.
I KNOW Phap is worth every dollar spent.
I got my nose pierced on both sides a while back.Twisted illusions has been my go to piercing place for a while now. Best prices and the shop is always clean. The girl who pierces there, not sure her name, but she's always very thourough with the whole process and aftercare process. This time, she skipped all that jazz as I reminded her that she's pierced me tons of times. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes and I'm so happy with how they look! Nobodys nose is perfectly symmetrical, but mine still looks it with the placing. Kuddos! I hope my picture beefs up your portfolio a bit :)
I've also gotten a couple of tattoos here. Granted, they were simple lines and letters, but they were exactly what I had expected. I've never spent over a hundred dollars here.
They have plenty of activities to keep you occupied if you're not into focusing on the pain.
All in all, good conversations, service and work. Just what I look for in apiercing/tattoo parlor!
My sister and I just got our tragus' pierced here today. I didn't catch our piercer's name but she was really chill and explained the whole process, and what to expect afterwards. While she was setting up she talked to us and asked us questions so it wasn't awkward and it definitely helped settled my nerves. It was $40 and if you bought the H2O aftercare it's an additional $10. No doubt, I should've came here for my nose piercing. Inkies is good but is a total rip off. I definitely recommend this place to everyone.
Review Source:Billy T is the man people! He's done two of my tattoos and I must say the man pays attention to every detail. He's a pretty chilled guy, and it was a nice kicked back mood when I got them. He told me to make sure that I liked it and triple checked before he even put the stencil on me. Let me just say, worth every penny. Be cheap on gas, but for a tattoo that you're gonna live with forever, put out the extra $$$. Â One of the best.
Review Source:I have gotten 2 tattoos done here back in 2006. 1 was HONOR in Kanji on my lower back and the other Angel Wings on my shoulders. The place is pretty clean and the people are really cool. I don't recall getting my HONOR tattoo, just remember it took 40 minutes.
I do still clearly remember getting my wings. It took 2 one hour sessions. The tattoo artist name is Phap. He was really nice about giving me a moment when it got too painful. He did an awesome job on the shading. Really captured my friends artwork.
I would definitely come back here to get more ink done when I figure out what I want. :P
5 years ago when I moved to Hayward I was told not to come here if you wanted to get tatted. Â Then again lots of artists come and go thru shops. Â I personally like to get work done from various artists and not just one. Â I am glad that I have been able to get some work done by Phap. He is very professional and the staff is friendly. Â Everyone that I have come in contact with about my tattoo has given me nothing but awesome comments. Â Phaps lines are clean and solid and he is very passionate about each piece he does. Even though I did not get a huge piece done he took his time to make sure all the lines were clean and solid. Â Shading was on point and the coloring is immaculate. My husband who is very anal about tattoos and is very picky on who does his tats has now like to get one done by Phap. Â I will defin return to get more added to the piece he did.
Review Source:Not only am I giving Twisted Illusions five stars, but writing a review for this place was the reason I joined Yelp. Â
For some reason I felt that I had to compete with my friend and get my nipples pierced. Â Don't judge me. Â Anyway, I thought it might be awkward showing my boobs to a stranger but I figured it would be less awkward if that stranger was a girl like me. Â Oh yeah, I'm also impulsive, so I had to find a female that could do it IMMEDIATELY!! RIIIIGHT NOW!! Â (read: before I chicken out). Â Careful research and a phone call told me that Lee (a female) could accommodate.
I took public transportation all the way from San Francisco to Hayward, which wasn't even that bad. Â I bought a magazine and read it on the bus and BART. Â The walk wasn't awesome, but I was going to climb every mountain for this piercing. Â If you have a car, your experience will vary.
The plan was to stick to the plan. Â I knew (from careful research) that nipple piercings are supposed to hurt. Â Some of my friends described the pain to me at my request. Â I had to get in, get pierced, and get OUT.
Lee greeted me warmly when I came in, and I didn't wait long. Â I was excited to find out that they weren't charging as much as many other places. Â I don't remember exactly how much, but I think I remember like $25-30 per nip - which included the jewelry! Â The jewelry is good quality and standard for a first nipple piercing. Â I asked her if they hurt. Â I don't know why I asked this because: (1) everyone has a different level of pain tolerance; and (2) I had just had my VCH done a week earlier so it's not like pain would have changed my mind, it just would have given me even more to worry about.
Look. Â Let me tell you something. Â THIS PIERCING HUUURRRTTTSSS. Â And this is coming from someone who has had their lady parts pierced. Â But that's not Lee's fault; I walked in and asked her to stab my nipples with a sharp piece of metal. Â Lee is amazing. Â She makes it quick and easy. Â She's very clean and professional, and it wasn't awkward at all.
I went home and took care of my boobs like Lee told me. Â They healed fast and without problems! Â The jewelry is still perfect and now I can't imagine not having them done! Â Can't vouch for every place, but I would definitely recommend Lee at Twisted Illusions for this piercing. Â It was all worth it - the trip, the cost, the pain. Â :)
was back in cali couple months ago. phap and esther finished up my sleeve on short notice with the kanji character (de - meaning morals) and a fisherman, waves, and bridge to nowhere. the piece itself came out tiiite. i got hella compliments from it already.
esther did the kanji character. she got skills and easy to talk to. but the fucked up thing which was my fault is that the japanese kanji for the character had one less line than chinese kanji! i didn't realize it until i got home, but got that fixed very next day.
As phap was inking my arm up, we was talking story about going skitz and TV talking to me... and then RIGHT THERE... the TV started doing it! he know's what im talking about. can i get a witness? but gyea. we were throwing around ideas and wasnt sure about the composition and agreed on the layout before he started. everything worked out nicely. the fisherman face came out EXACTLY how i wanted. look like shang tsung from mortal combat. landscape came out clean. was all original.
this is a fast paced, high traffic, quality shop for niche market. a respectable family business. hope to be back for angels and demons on my other arm.
My niece has been pierced here a couple of times because reputable establishments will turn her away. Why you ask? Because she's too young; even for many non-reputable shops.
She had her industrial done here at 10/11 and now a double lip piercing at 12/13. For those not in 'the know'; most shops set a minimum age requirement with parental consent - usually it's 14 for non-genital piercings.
However not at this place! I called and asked what their minimum age requirement was and the receptionist had to ask me to repeat myself. She then stated, "Oh, it doesn't really matter...just make sure her mom comes with her." Lovely. Shortly after she did ask about what piercing and how old, but once again brushed off age and said, "Oh yeah that's fine." I'm assuming she was only asking to assure that it wasn't for a genital piercing.
I've never stepped foot into this shop, nor will I ever have the desire to but after seeing the generic in-and-out job on my niece's piercing placement (which catches on her braces, by the way) was enough to make me want to write this review.
Ultimately though all this lies with the "parents" who would rather be their child's 'best friend' as much as it does these sort of shops that do a disservice to the body modification community as a whole.
I came here spur of the moment last week and decided I'm going to get my tragus pierced. Ive had it before and looooved it but it did hurt pretty bad :/
But my friend told me suck that shit up and get it if i wanted it. So THATS ALL I NEEDED TO HEAR! (I'm very easy to persuade ;P) haha. So we were in San Leandro and we looked up piercing parlors close to his house, and the only one that got a good rating and looked legit was Twisted Illusions, cool name too!
So get there and the location seemed pretty ghetto latin area (can't talk shit to me because I'm latin, i can say that :P) SO, we go in and i swear it took about 10min for everything! It was amazing I had this cute little Asian girl as my piercer, forgot her name but she ruled. She even told my guy friend to step up his game and stop being a pussy (because he has no tats or piercings lol) Anyways, loved the whole experience, the girl wasn't like hella nice but pretty chill. I will be coming back in a few months for my anti tragus on my other ear :)
I got a tattoo here maybe a year ago, and I was not very happy with it. The artist didnt even take the time to draw the tattoo, they just printed somthing off the Internet, I should have spoke up and told them what I really wanted but I didnt and thats my fault. Tattoos are going to be with you forever so if you dont love it, dont get it.
Also the price was pretty high, I was luckily able to talk them down a few bucks, but the tattoo was not worth it. I wouldnt go back to this place, but to each its own!
If you are looking for a real artist, and a real good tattoo shop I recommend Matt Howse in San Rafael at Spider Murphys.
This place is alright. I got a tat here a couple months ago. This price was outrageous. and not in a good way. I would recommend maybe dragon lairs in oakland who are more detailed and they are exceptionally good in color blending, but if you have a fortune to blow then be my guest and go to twisted.
Review Source:been here before with a friend to get her tattoo finished. Â
my experience at twisted illusions was pretty chill. walked in for an appointment, Phap did an amazing job on my bows. Â he helped me out a lot with the appearance of the tat. he actually made them look a lot better than i imagined. Â
this was my second tattoo, and i already know that i'm coming back here again. Â Phap only took about an hour and a half to be finished.
I just got my second tattoo by Billy yesterday. Â He is an artist with incredible attention to detail. Â For the first one I brought in a photo of a very ornate, complicated flower and he did a better job of getting the detail right than scientific illustrators I've worked with. Â He used SIX COLORS Â on it and took his time. Â I've had it a year and I don't think it's faded at all. Â
The one I just had done was a smaller, relatively simpler flower and again, he got it perfect, using 5 colors to get the shading right. Â He was very attentive to my description of what I wanted but gave important advice on what how small it could be done and still show the detail I wanted.
The girls that were working the counter were super nice and the shop is very clean. Â The room where I got the tattoo was comfortable and has a couch where your friends could hang out if you bring them.
I'm really impressed with Billy's work and will be going back again as I add to my epidermal flower guide. i highly recommend this shop.
I went here to get my rook and tragus piercings on my ears. A lady named Lee did my piercings, she was very professional. She told me about the procedure step by step. She sat me down and cleaned all her utensils thoroughly then she marked where I wanted my piercings. She kept talking to me through the whole process and it made me less nervous since I'm scared of needles. The piercings got done fairly quick and painless. I would totally recommend this place.
Review Source:I went to Twisted Illusions for the very first time last night.
I arrived at 7:30pm, I understood that they were to be closed in another hour, which was fine.
I did NOT love the vibe when I walked in.
It felt like I was walking in to a Nail Salon!!!
(Im am not just saying that because she was asain)
The lady at the front desk looked at me like she was confused why I stepped in the door.
She looked like she just bit into a lemon and had a stick up her butt.
I asked her some simple questions and wouldnt even make eye contact with me. She eventually answered my questions and just passed me a business card.
It presented itself as being an unprofessional tattoo shop.
I was very disappointed because I have heard several good reviews from this shop.
I will never return here and I hope you take my advice.
Back in 06 I got my lip pierced (bottom) and I loved the service and cleanliness of the shop. about two weeks ago I went back and go my Traygus (sp) pierced and they have not lost there touch! Their shop was clean, the lady who did my piercing was nice and informative. Even though both piercings hurt, both ppl who did them( two separate ppl) both let me know what was going to happen before they did anything and that eased the thought of the pain to come lol. I'm thinking bout going and gettin my next two tats done there if I decide not to go back to the other two shops my other 4 were done at. (pricing and scheduling will be the determining factor) neeewho, go there! Pricing for piercings are good and they offer a salt water solution that comes in a spray for the healing process. I promise if you go there, you won't be disappointed!
Review Source:I have not gotten tattooed at Twisted Illusions; however, my daughter has gotten pierced there three times. The woman that does the piercing is really thorough and explained aftercare instructions to my daughter a few times. They are very professional and each experience has been pleasurable. When my daughter's nose ring fell out, we went back and the piercer fixed it for her.
I highly recommend Twisted Illusions.
I had a wonderful experience there. I took my boyfriend there for his first tattoo and we talked to Phap. The room was actually so zen, I gotta admit I was worried at first but Phap was really pleasant and approachable. He and my boyfriend talked and it was an awesome experience! It took about an hour and a half because the tattoo was so detailed and I am really happy to this day :) What more can you ask for? Twisted Illusions made a great memory for my love's 24th bday. LOVE IT! It's clean, not cluttered, professional and you pay for what you want. Will definately come there again.
Review Source:I was told about this place by a friend of mine who went there for a tattoo about 3 months ago. I've been wanting to get a buller covered on my wrist for some time now and finally decided to take the plunge by choosing a cross to cover it.
Yesterday, I went there to have Phap look at the old piece and help me with some ideas. After about 5 minutes I knew that this was the place. We scheduled for an appointment this afternoon.
Although he told me the tattooing would only take about an hour, he wanted me to come in a little bit earlier to make sure we had time to get the prep work just right.
When I went in this afternoon we spent about half an hour figuring out the proper placement for the cross that would be to cover the bullet. He was really honest about the flaws of putting a straight piece on my wrist because it's curved. Also, he was able to help me with ideas on how to improve my first idea.
Once the tattooing started, he was responsive and quick. When I needed a break, he was patient and understanding. Then went right back to it to finish.
I am thoroughly satisfied with the whole process and how the cross turned out thanks to Phap's help. The place was really clean and all of the people were really friendly. An excellent experience and I will definitely be going back to get more work done.
I got my tattoo done by Billy and he did a really good job with my tattoo. He drew my tattoo without any references and it came out great! He was awesome because he said he usually charged by the hour, but he worked with me and charged me a flat rate, My tattoo was pretty big too. I got 4 cherry blossoms with some waves of water underneath it.
I've only had 2 tattoos and I was pretty scared of getting this one because I've heard all the horror stories of getting it done on your ribs, but it was bearable. Billy gave me a lot of breaks and he didn't rush through it. On the real, he's really good at what he does and he'll let you know what looks good and what doesn't.
Once I save up money, I want to get one last one done by him! So if you want a tat, stop by and ask for Billy!
So I came back here for my tattoo, and Phap was amazing! The design was breathtaking and legit. I told him what each element meant and drew it up. Let me note this: tattoos hurt. really bad. but then again, I'm a pansy. I kept shaking and Phap was paitent. Which was great. He fixed lines that were shakey and all that.
The tattoo facility was very clean. Sterile needles and everything used on you is NEW! My tattoo turned out great! If you want a great tattoo, Phap is great!
have tried Black Wing, checked out Simms, but overall decided on getting a tat from Twisted Illusions. Im very experienced in the fine arts and find that they have the best artistic detail and best portfolio pallet in the city of Hayward. Got my tattoo from Billy! Totally recommend him!
Review Source:Well I just called despite the reviews and I want to go get my tounge pierced ..Im hellla scared lol so wish me luck Ill keep you all posted on the income and outcome of this journey ...Yeeeeeehh!!!!!!!!!Yadddda ..........Lee was cool she helped me out and answered my ?'s............ I can say that they can be more professional though thats no Lie Yeap Im star and I approve of this message ahahahsahahahahahah lmfao ...................
Review Source:I got my Naval and nose pierced here. The girl that did my piercings, I forget her name, but she did a good job! She explained everything before she did the procedure. And the piercings turned out nice!
I wouldn't mind getting a tattoo at this place either cause i've seen their work and all of their tattoo's come out really good! Not to mention the girls that work there are very pretty (= Â [i'm not lesbian or bi-sexual or anything] just saying. haha!
The only thing I would really complain about is that the piercings are $40? My 2nd one was half off though, but my cousin that got her piercings done said she got hers for 20!
OMG! well two weeks ago I went here to get my nose and my lip pierced.
And I was hella scared. I had a lady named Lee who did it. And she was so helpful and cool to talk to. She made me feel at ease and it didn't even hurt a lot. I would definitely go back here for more piercing. I thinking of getting my belly button done!
my bf used to come here to see Shannon. he was a good artist, though not as funny and charismatic as Nick Vargas of FU tattoo. my bf switched to Nick because Shannon was always booked and he was leaving to start his own shop. my only problem was the ghetto-ness of the place. there was even some fool selling drugs on his cell phone in teh store! geez-louise. i didn't feel safe sitting in the waiting room while my bf was in the back. i didn't want to be near the guy wheelin' and dealin' on his phone, so I opted to wait in my bf's car. After someone knocked on my window to talk to me, i decided it was best to crawl in the back since the windows were tinted. needless to say, i'm glad my bf goes to Nick now, their place is must cleaner--store wise and costumer wise.
update- I was informed that they changed management recently, so this review must be for the old owners. I'm not sure how the new place is, but take into account that they may have changed for the better!
Ohgreat, I searched up a piercing place using my phone and my phone is NOT an iPhone, so I can't see who is reviewing these places, but it does show..the amount of stars.
But anyways, I went in and got a piercing by Lee, who is a very sweet individual and I was glad I had a woman pierce me.
All piercings are $40, except for industrials and the XXX ones.
I got my first tattoo done here by Esther, Phap's sister. She's really thorough with fills, a little hard, but overall, I'm really happy with the result. She's really detail oriented and really helpful, nice, and made the process fun. She was a total pro at distracting the hell out of me so I wouldn't start crying like a baby, too. That's always a plus.
My best friend has gotten several tattoos done here, and brings all of our friends for theirs. Everyone has been super happy with their tattoos, and we all keep coming back for more. =D
All in all, I love the people and service here and will definitely come back again, for a new tat, and to add more to my current one...
Twisted Illusions is awesome. I got my tattoo done by Phap and he takes his time and he's really nice and he knows what he's doing. I had a really bad experience at Russell City so i decided to try somewhere else. And it turned out great! The staff is nice and helpful too. I definately recommend this place and I know for sure i'm coming back!
Review Source:Lee is a really good piercer. I got my belly button piercecd somewhere else and it came out all bad. But when I went to Lee, she inform me of what she was going to do, use, and all the steps. She was very helpful and tried to calm my fears of the pain. She pierced my belly really fast and it was all over before I knew it. I would recommend her to anyone who wants to get a piercing. She is very clean, helpful, and knows what she is doing. She always answers any questions or concerns you have.
Review Source:I got my lebret pierced here, a few years ago, and I would like to say that "it hurt" a lot, yeah, your probly like.."Duh!" Â but I actually believe that the peircing, (when it's done good) only hurts for a few seconds, right? Â Well I just have to say, my tounge pirecing didn't hurt that much. Â Well I guess I can't speak for others, but I can tell you that I had 2 other people tell me that they had bad experiences there as well. Â Hope this was helpful
P.s. are they out of business? LOL
I went here to get an industrial piercing and it got infected the next day. Â I had to go to the Internal Critical Unit to remove it because if I didn't my ears would've turned into elf ears. Â I really wish I was kidding but yes, I'm being so serious.
I was really overcharged in the price as well...
