Underground Ink

This place deserves 20 stars! Everyone (who is into tattoos) has *that one guy* and won't go anywhere else. For me, that guy is Mike at Underground Ink.

So far I've only had him do 3 of my tattoos. One was a star on the back of my neck, the other 2 were much more elaborate cover ups and I FREQUENTLY get compliments.

The first cover up is the most elaborate. I won't get into the story behind the tattoo underneath, but the cover up took about 5 years of planning and looking for somebody who could actually draw what I had in mind- the way I wanted it- without charging more than I could afford.

The details were: a gypsy fairy with tattered butterfly wings and lilies in her hair, riding on a white tiger. Sounds simple, maybe, but what Mike drew was far better than I would have ever imagined. It looks simply amazing!

More importantly, Underground Ink puts a lot of value into making sure their tattoos will look as good a year later as when you first walk out of the shop. They explain things that other tattoo artists rush through, such as the effect of the sun on your ink. The tattoos themselves look amazing because of the attention to detail given to specific things like ink color and shading.

My second coverup is simply a rose vine wrapping around my arm. It has 3 roses, each with an initial for one of my kids. The vine itself has about 5 different shades of green, and black for shading, and is simply marvelous.

No wonder I get so many compliments, and I tell everyone why the only place I will go to get a tattoo is at Underground Ink. Strongly recommend!
