I remember when Urban Exchange was in Lynnhaven Mall.  I got my first piercing here--my nose.  I can't believe it was almost 15 years ago and I'm still rockin my nose piercing.

As a kid, this place was intimidating but still pretty cool.  The piercers were marginally friendly but still kept an air of haughtiness.  But I love my piercing and it was relatively simple and painless  Whenever I pass by the new location on the beach, I must admit I'm a little tempted to stop in and get some more holes punched.

I went here a while back to get my navel pierced. I don't know what made me pick a piercing place inside of a mall, perhaps that should have been my first clue. The first step of the process was done professionally. I filled out all the paperwork and all the normal procedures for a piercing.

When the time came for me to go back to the room my mom joined me. I sat back in the chair and the piercer came into the room - he himself did not have the most hygienic look, but otherwise the process was clean. He opened the needles in front of me and went through with completing the piercing. Everything was fine until I noticed how close to the surface of my skin the piercing had been placed.

Needless to say because of the close placement, the piercing ended up growing out and I had to have it redone. This is a sign of an inexperienced piercer. I would not go back to Urban Exchange and would much rather go somewhere where I know the piercers have adequate experience.
