  Believe all the good things you hear about this place.
  Valkyrie Tattoo is clean, well-organized, and all-around great. The staff are so welcoming and respectful. It is clear they share responsibility for what they consider to be a communal endeavor which they enjoy immensely.
  I've had work done in Seattle, San Diego, and Phoenix, but this is the nicest place I've ever been.
  The ambiance is comfortable and safe, not loud and abrasive like so many places downtown. Their location is out of the way enough to prevent this kind of intrusion, but easy to find and close enough to still go to.
  Sandy and Jack are so friendly and nice. I had my tattoo done by Josh, who is not only extremely talented but also highly professional and easy to get along with.
  I'm grateful to have found such an establishment. I could not have chosen a better investment.

  I've been contemplating getting a particular tattoo for nearly three years, but was always hesitant for a myriad of reasons ranging from just first time trepidation to fear of being unable to find someone that could get what was in my head on to my arm.  I had a fantastic experience here, so here are some takeaways -
  
  1.  Josh Montiel is a super nice guy with a great mind and eye for what he is doing.  He also takes his craft very seriously and looks at everything from the cleanliness of the establishment and mood of the room to the actual art as part of doing it right.  He's pretty open about his take on things, and you can tell right away that this is a guy who takes a whole lot of pride in his job.
  
  2.  Everyone up there is super friendly.  Jack and Sandy are super nice, and Jesus was an easy going guy as well.
  
  3.  The place is CLEAN.  Autoclaves, new needles, brightly lit, and the artists are absolutely rigorous in avoiding contamination during the process.
  
  4.  It hurts, but not more than it should.  I've read a few horror stories about getting overworked, and I have to admit that made me nervous.  While a part of doing this was definitely seeing how well I could handle the process, I wasn't real interested in testing the outer limits of my pain threshold beyond what was necessary. I got something pretty big on my shoulder, and two days later there is minimum raising, scabbing, and the redness has faded a great deal already.  I do think Josh's touch makes a big difference.  I wouldn't call myself hardcore by any stretch, but there were times where I very nearly fell asleep as I kind of got used to it and found it at time almost relaxing.  And occasionally not so much, but that is part of the fun, isn't it?
  
  So that is a first-timers take.  Get an idea together, save up the scratch to get it done right, and call these guys.  They do it right.

  Just an update on Valkyrie's. Just had my tattoo done today. It was a great experience, Josh was super friendly and competent throughout the whole process, which in all took 5 hours. The ambiance in general was very comfortable, having been able to speak to Jack (Yukon Jack) and Sandy (front of the house/books), the owners, before and during the process too.
  
  And the best thing is that the tattoo came out really awesomely. Josh took my idea of the tree and not only built upon it but improved it substantially.; now I have a tattoo I really want to show off as much as possible. I'd definitely recommend him for any of your future tattoos!

  Great new shop! I talked over my design with Josh and he drew up a design that more than exceeded my expectations. Prices are far more reasonable than body tech or anthem. Josh took the time to do the tattoo right even though it meant staying after hours. Above and beyond on service and hospitality. Will definitely return and recommend to every friend looking for ink.

  This is the best Tattoo place in Gainesville by far. I've had multiple tattoos done by all different shops in town and Valkyries blows them all out of the water;
  
  I had a complex piece in mind that no one else in town could do but when I heard that Valkyrie's opened up and had great artists from Vegas & Alaska, I stopped by, had an awesome one-on-one talk with John Montiel and was 100% confident in him. Josh's work is absolutely amazing, I highly recommend Valkyrie's to anyone looking for super high-quality work at excellent prices.
  
  Best tattoo experience I've ever had, I will certainly be back! Thanks guys!!
