Idk what everyone is talking about I had a great experience I was so nervous they were calm collected and confident so I felt at ease with that she was professional she took her time marking me ( i appreciate ) and the piercing didnt hurt it was quick (not rushed ) and happy go lucky there it was done I didn't shed a tear nor blood they looked awsome! This was a few days ago and aftercare is easy. I havnt swelled up nor felt any irritation im so happy with my time their and what I went home with thank you Vibes !!!
Review Source:This studio is TERRIBLE. Â I have gotten over 13 piercings and this was by far the worst experience I have had. Â No wonder they have you pay before the piercing. Â The piercer, I believe his name was Garcia, was very unprofessional and did not go over aftercare or the healing process with me. Â He nearly used a dirty clamp to do my Anti-Tragus, and did not wash his hands before putting on the gloves. Â They did not have the most basic curved bar, and ended up piercing my Anti-Tragus with a bar that was too long. Â After the piercing my ear started gushing blood (this has never happened with ANY other piercing) and the best thing he could do to remedy the situation was to hand me some gauze and tell me, "yeah, Â your ears bleeding pretty bad" as he walked out of the room.
The atmosphere was filthy. Â They had me wait on a couch, and the moment I got up an empty spray paint can came rolling out (god knows what else was under there). Â All, and all, this was just a bad experience. Â STAY CLEAR.
I got my tragus pierced 6 months ago by this place. Still today, it has not healed.
The day I walked in to get my tragus pierced, it was my 18th birthday. I was super excited to finally have it. As I'm walking in, I go straight to the front counter and I see no one there. That was a red flag from the start. When I'm purchasing my ring, it was sitting in a glass container that was absolutely not sterile. Secondly, they gave me an eyebrow ring rather than a tragus ring..what kind of professional piercing place does that? Third, as i sit there to get it pierced, the piercer does not mark the spot where hes going to pierce it  He also doesnt show me where the placement of the piercing would appear. And lastly, i payed $60 for this piece of shit and I will never go back to that piercing place even if I were payed to.
My suggestion, NEVER EVER EVER GO TO VIBES IN REDWOOD CITY!!
SAVE YOUR MONEY! IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY!!!
Believe me. One piercing from there and I've experienced enough.
Because of vibes, I had to remove my tragus piercing after 6 whole months of waiting for it to heal. And now I will happily get my tragus properly re pierced  at another place aka Make Me Holey in San Jose!! Ask for karissa. She is amazing.
Ps-I don't even think this place deserves one star....
Thank you vibes for proving to me that you are a sucky place and will never get service from me again. Goodbye.
This place f*€king sucks!!!! We went in for 2 simple ear piercings and came out stabbed, bruised and abused. We wanted a snug and a cartilage piercing and the cartilige was ok except for the fact that they put a f*€king lip ring in my ear thats hella f*€king long and uncomfortable. The worst was my friend that got a snug and ended up getting stabbed a couple times, she pierced the ear then the needle fell out and decided to put the needle in again like a f*€king idiot. She inserted before we could stop her and caused my friend an immense amount of pain and she now has 2 holes on one side. If you want a ghetto unprofessional piercing then go ahead and risk it but otherwise save yourself and turn the around now!
Review Source:I wish I could give this place zero stars because they absolutely messed up my industrial piercing! I went there on my birthday to get an industrial piercing and everything went well or so I thought...
Months later I noticed it wasnt healing right and it hurt really bad. So I went to a nearby renoun piercing shop and the guy said whoever did my piercing messed up big time. The top piercing was too low which would not allow me to wear glasses and such. Not only that but they gave me cheap and incorrect jewelry! I spent 70 dollars for horrible work and cheap not top of the line jewelry??!! Unacceptable. DON'T GO HERE!!!!!
Ive gotten MULTIPLE piercings here and they have been GREAT. they have ALWAYS been nice and friendly. The only reason I give them 3 stars is because I have friends who have had bad experiences. but listen here: IF YOU ARENT NICE OBVIOUSLY THEN THEY WONT BE EITHER. They are very good at what they do. I would go here for piercings and simple tattoos. I have gotten referred to many different artists at vibes and ALL HAVE DONE THE JOB. GOOD VIBES from vibes.
Review Source:I'd been in the store several years ago, but moved out of the area. So, traveling through, I stopped by to purchase a couple of new pieces of jewelry for my piercings. All of the pieces in the display case were small, 18 - 20 gage, and when I asked if they had any larger pieces the chick behind the counter asked what kind of piercing I had. When I told her my piercing was a guiche she asked, "What's that?". After explaining what a guiche piercing is, she replied, "Since I've never heard of it, maybe that's why we don't have anything". Maybe Vibes is an OK place to get a tattoo, but they only appear to have only "fufu" piercing jewelry.
Review Source:I came in with a friend to get impulse piercings & decided on a Monroe for myself. While the girl who pierced me WAS sterile, clean, friendly enough.. etc.. it was placed too low on the lip. I didnt' find out how much of a problem that would become until later when I smiled in a mirror and saw that half my face looked PARALYZED.
Granted, I didn't do my research thoroughly.. but I'd assume that someone who has experience putting holes in faces would at least know where to put the damn hole.
Just thought y'all should know...
I got my nose pierced here a few months ago. Â While that went really, really well (Maggie who did it was super nice, it was painless, sanitary, etc), I've been in there other times for purchases and good luck getting someone to help you! Â I've had to leave twice. Â And the jewelry is way over priced ($20, but available on Amazon for $5). Â Plus I feel freakin' ancient in there. Â Can they hire someone over 12 please?
Review Source:Been here a few times.
Got my tragus, second  holes, and conch piercings, all done by Maggie!!
She is perfect and extremely helpful and patient. Maggie makes you feel at ease and talks you through the whole process and made me feel very comfortable. She explained the process and told me how to take care of my piercings and what products to use and how to keep them clean.
Came back again to change my piercings/jewelry and again was helped by Maggie!!
The place is well kept and clean.
Im a fan!
thx Maggie!!
I came here for a piercing a couple of weeks ago.  It's been a few years since I've even had a piercing but I still have previous experiences to compare this one to.  Prior to coming in, I read the reviews, good and bad.  One day, I just decided to walk in.  The girl at the desk  was not friendly and while I was asking questions about jewelry, answers her cell and continues to carry on her conversation while I'm just standing there.  I actually felt like I would be interrupting her, how rude of me.  I didn't catch her name...because there were no introductions or small talk...she also happened to be the one who did the piercing.  It literally took two seconds, quick and painless.  I was given a piece of paper with instructions...nothing verbally...weird.  I'm not looking to be best friends with a piercer but I would have like a little bit more comforting feeling and this place does not provide that.  I look at reviews for places like Body Manipulations.... so I know it's totally possible to be friendly and willing to answer questions at tattoo/piercing establishment.  Although the piercing was done right, I don't think I'll be coming here again.
Review Source:PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE.
I walked in here on a whim to get my conch pierced, thinking how could they screw that up? Â First of all, I don't know how the two people working there could be any more unfriendly. Â They made me feel so uncomfortable--like they couldn't be bothered with a paying customer. Â I powered through it because, oh well, who cares about the experience, right? Â Wrong. Â The woman who seemed in charge let the boy (who later I realize was brand new and didn't know what he was doing) pierce my ear. Â Something went wrong because I got stabbed several times before the girl came in and had to take over. Â OUCH.
Second, not only was I pierced on a marking I specifically said I did NOT want the piercing, it was done at an odd angle--sticking out the side of my ear instead of straight back. Â I didn't know this until later when I went to another shop where they actually cared enough to help me out. Â Third, they put a CURVED piece of eyebrow jewelry into my ear. Â I also later realized how wrong this was because it was causing me to heal wrong and create SCAR tissue in my ear. Â I had asked if this was the correct jewelry and they said yes--plus, it was all they had. Â
A couple months later my ear was swollen and very painful. Â Like I said, I went to another shop where they cleaned it up, gave me the correct jewelry, and told me how to take care of it. Â Now it's all better (except they couldn't correct the weird angle and location of the pierce itself). Â I realized how nice it was to be helped by someone at least pretending to care.
Bottom line: you might have better luck slamming your head into a rusty nail. Â At least you won't have to pay over $60 for a couple of unprofessional people in their pajamas trying to make you feel like crap. Â If I could give ZERO STARS, I would.
Against the advice of many people, I got my nose pierced here six years ago. Â Other than a keloid (they suggested topical vitamin E, which worked wonders...) Â it healed quite well. Â So, I was happy with the piercing and still am. Â
The reason they are only getting three stars is for their actual jewelry. Â Back when I was a youngster all those six years ago, the stud they pierced me with had a jewel in it that promptly fell out before my nose was even healed! Â They didn't bother to advertise that stone was not set in. Â I bought a similar stud at a store in the Haight for about the same price WITH a set in stone.
Cut to today-- I went in because my new job requires me to not wear my jewelry. Â They weren't really that helpful (I found a retainer on ebay for 4 dollars in less than 2 mins) about it. Â Secondly, I also wanted to get a ring for my nose. Â I feel sort of taken advantage of for my lack of knowledge about anything other than studs, but she ended up selling me an 18g 8mm with a ball closure. Â I couldn't really even open it in the store, but she did it with her fingers, so i thought maybe I could too...nope. Â She did warn me that they only had ball closures...but i didn't really understand what that meant. Â I need something that I can get in and out easily. Â Now I spent $16 on something I can't even use!
Now, maybe I should be better educated about my own body piercing, but you'd think the place where you could find reliable information and people who want to help you would be a tattoo/piercing shop! Â I'm also probably guilty of one of those people who feels rushed into buying something, but gah! I am so annoyed right now...
Maybe I'd consider getting pierced here again, but I they've screwed up enough as a retailer that I'd never buy jewelry here again!
This place sucks like it's their job. Â They are rude, poorly stocked, managed and staffed. Â I wouldn't know if they are overpriced like everyone says because the would not come to the counter to serve me. Â the girls in the back were laughing and joking that i was just standing there..they must be too cool. Â good work isn't cheap...cheap work isn't good. Â stay away!!!
Review Source:This review is longtime overdue!!! Worst place to go to!
I got my eyebrows pierce there a couple of years ago only for it to get infected and for the piercing to rip off by itself within six months. I now have a scar on my eyebrow! The reason this happen: because the man who pierced my eyebrow did not pierce it deep enough. So my eyebrow ring was barely hanging.
I recently found out that they hire people that are not qualified, one of my brothers friends got hire there with absolutely no experience in piercing! Scary! Which makes me think that the guy who pierce me probably had no experience as well.Another thing is that they are overpriced! Now days I buy my jewelry at ebay, which is much cheaper.
I would urge everyone to go to another place unless you want to overpay and end up with horrible piercings!!!
vibes vibes vibes! were do i begin? this place was discus ting! first i walk in there and the 3 girls have the radio full blast, which is fine i like music too. However i am completely ignored for a good 10 minutes! second, i ask the girl for a specific kind of lip ring and she looked at me like i was crazy, OK that's not bad i get looked at like that often but then girl number two starts clipping her fingernails right in front of me! behind the counter! there were nails flying ever where! and this is supposed to be a clean place were you could get a piercing???? it was so gross i will never ever go back to those girls, not professional, looked a mess, and discus ting????
Review Source:So I came here to get a new lip ring.... The place was empty, i bought my new ring but had to wait till the girl who does the piercings came back. Meanwhile, my cousin wanted to get a piercing in her ear...... so they prep her and omg like the girl didn't know what she was doing.... She had trouble piercing it then had more trouble screwing the ball on. It looked painful! I'm glad that I only came to get a ring... I def wouldn't let anyone pierce anything here.
Review Source:I think this place is awful no one is licensed and they are all awful I walked in and no one even spoke they stood there like they what did I want and let me tell you there is no reason for them to be acting like that cause the place and the employees are all trash beware the majority of the good reviews come from the employees friends
Review Source:I've had 4 piercings done here - navel, nostril, ear cartilage, and tragus. All 3 were done perfectly and have only gotten infected when I switched out the piercing jewelry with cheap shit from Claire's. Now I keep all the original jewelry in and have never had problems.
The guy who does the piercings there is super nice and professional, and the girl who did my cartilage was great too - the only one that didn't hurt!
I wouldn't get a tattoo here, though, so I don't know how they are with that. Overall a good place to get piercings and new jewelry.
Well, you all know the story behind this place right? It was originally called 'Wicked' and was formed by some dewds who made a bunch of money from selling drugs at raves...thus 'Wicked' I guess. Since I was a skater for many years, from San Mateo/ Belmont..I applied for a job there while I was attending community college and got it. For whatever reasons, working at this place was 'just another job'..I begged and pleaded to get put in the skateboards side but to no avail. The most horrible part about working there was that everytime you had to go to the bathroom you had to come out of the bathroom and pull your pockets out to show to the manager. 'Show me your bunny ears!' she would say and I would just barely manage to not puke everytime I had to...like, 'damn'...give me some respect, I've been a skater for years and this place is worse than 'Journey's I imagine to work for...if I didn't want to steal from them before, the ideas were definitely there now. I did a search for 'Wicked' and was sort of hoping they went out of business or something...'oh well'...I'd rather order stuff online these days, out of state and you don't have to pay for any tax, get exactly what you want. The staff were loopy and absentminded then as I imagine they are now.
Review Source:My friend and I took our 10 year-old daughters to Vibes to get their ears pierced. My idea - I've had both "gun" piercing and needle and was NOT going to put my daughter through having hers done with a gun. I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the girl who did it, but she was great - quick & efficient. My daughter said hers didn't hurt at all; her friend only complained a little. :-) Would definitely go there again. Downsides: parking (or lack thereof) and STRONG incense smell. I couldn't wait to get out of there so I could BREATHE.
Review Source:I love Vibes! I recently had my 3rd tattoo by Annie done and I am nothing short of completely satisfied. The entire staff is quick and efficient whenever I run in to buy something. I totally disagree with the comment made about customers not being acknowledged, I get good service every time I go. I have had several piercings done by Maggie and have always been happy with the results. Vibes is the original in Redwood City and I've seen some of the so- called 'work' done by other shops in Redwood City and I'm so glad I've stayed faithful to Vibes.
Review Source:OK shop I guess, would be better if us customers actually got acknowledged once in a while. It seems like most of the employees would rather talk to each other than help you out. Â Overall, a good place to go if you know exactly what you want and like to get in and get out. If you want to feel valued as a customer, spend your hard earned money elsewhere.
Review Source:I had my navel pierced and ear pierced all on the same day.
They are kind of pricey too.
The staff wasn't too friendly, and they kind of just ignored you and watched tv.
Anyways...the lady who pierced my navel did a horrible job at it.
It was not even aligned correctly!
I would not recommend this place.
Maggie and Sam have always been very good to me, I had my tongue and tragus' peirced here both with good outcomes. Â Ive had my tongue peirced for about five years now and I accredit this to Maggies great placement. Â It is placed in the middle to where it cant touch or rub my teeth in any direction unless I stick my tongue out, allowing me to not have to take it out due to gum recession and/or teeth enamel wear, not to mention it fits comfortably. Â (my friend had hers done some where else and had to take it out within months because it wasnt placed right and drove her crazy)
As far as the store part Ive also had good experiences with the prices and service, they have an excellent selection of jewelry (more then anywhere else around here). Â Although, I can't say anything about the tattoos because I've never seen any from there.
Overall they are clean and professional and made my peircing experiences very easy and not at all scary.
i got my lip pierced at braindrops in san fran, but it fell out yesterday so i wanted to get my lip repierced today cuz i was feeling rather naked without it. i went to vibes, not really wanting to go there since i had been in there a couple of times for jewelry cuz there arent a ton of piercing places on the peninsula...i asked what they charged for repiercing a lip...they said $40, which is also the price to pierce it for the first time...usually places are nice and wont charge you as much as it would cost to pierce it for the first time. so....i told the lady my story and she said i would have to wait 2-3 weeks before repiercing it. i appreciated her advice, since i dont know about piercings etc...but she wouldnt let me sign something saying that i was aware of her telling me that but that i still wanted to get it done. the piercer was nice enough to take me in the back and try to poke through the piercing to see if it was possible...but she poked me a good 2 hard times...seriously killed!! she said i could return in 2-3 weeks to get it repierced at a cheaper price...which was very nice, but not what i wanted.
i would not recommend vibes to anyone, except maybe if they wanted to buy jewelry and get pierced elsewhere. vibes doesnt give me an especially friendly or clean "vibe" if you will, lol.
also, if you ARE going to get pierced here, which you shouldnt, call ahead and make an appointment since the piercer isnt always there...
Everytime I go to Vibes, the vast majority of the employees seem to really hate either their job or themselves. Â They've never been kind or polite. Â It's more of a "What do you want?" attitude. Â
I also find that their glass is a little overpriced. Â Would much rather go to Paramount in San Jose. Â The people are way cool and the prices are just right.
Just went to Vibes to get my tragus(sp?) pierced and was really impressed. Â I forget the girls name who pierced me but she was quick, sterile and fairly painless. Â Its been almost two days and I haven't had any swelling, bleeding or redness so I'm pretty happy - will definitely return next time I've got "the itch".
Review Source:I got my nose pierced here right after I turned 18 (6 years ago) and it was an ok experience. Â When I first came in to see how much it would cost, the guy at the counter, possibly the owner, told me it would be $70. Â I told him I only had $60 on me and he didn't seem to care. Â He just wanted the money. Â I was escorted to the back room, which is just as creepy and dark as the main room. Â The actual piercing part wasn't so bad. Â The piercer was nice and gentle. Â I hope for his sake he doesn't still work there. Â
The experience wasn't terrible considering I was only 18 and didn't know any better, but now that I've gone to other piercing and tattoo shops, I think this place is pretty shady. Â My piercing never fully healed correctly and was huge pain. Â I've since got my nose re pierced at a more respectable joint and the whole experience was much more enjoyable. Â
If you really want to get something pierced or want a tattoo, take the 30 mile trip to Haight Street. Â It's worth it.
So, my experience with Vibes is limited. Â I first went there to get my lobes pierced, to start the stretching process. Maggie pierced me. She was amazing. Very quick and professional, very clean. Â She helped me start the stretching process and I've since taken it over myself, since it's cheaper to do so.
Today, I decided to get my nipple pierced. Â Jill was the one working. Â She was very clean and everything was going fine - other than her less than amazing bedside manner - until she was only able to get the needle halfway through my nipple. Â Yeah. Huge problem. After having me take a few breaths and trying a few times to push it through - not the greatest feeling - she took the needle out & started over with a new one. Â This one went through and I figured my body was just being strange and stubborn.
Until, before dashing out to the lobby, she said something about them having just started using a new type of needle and that they'd had some problems with them. Â Uhhhh.. what?! Â
So yeah, I paid $60ish to have one nipple pierced and go through that? Â I don't like the fact that they have you pay before the pierce, because trust me.. I would have demanded either a discount or no charge at all.
My search for a new shop begins today.
I just got my upper ear pierced yesterday by that lovely girl Jill and she really did an another amazing job. I was still really nervous and I had had a really bad day. She talked to me about my day and also made my piercing so quick that i did not even feel it... I love Vibes, it's great!!!
Review Source:Dang after seeing the reviews I hate to say that I loved this place - well as you see its passed tense. When ever I use to go there (to the back only) everyone there was super nice and very informative. But this was like 8yrs ago - so I don't even think my review counts.
But what I do remember is that the parking SUUUCCCKKED! Damn taqueria place!!
Ehh...overpriced, merch kinda sucks now. Â When it was Wicked, and even for a couple of years after it became Vibes, it was alright. Â The smoke shop's cool, but some of us don't smoke anymore. Â I miss the skate/snowboard gear and band tees and stickers.
The real issue I had here was that I got a helix piercing (part of ear cartilage) about 5 years ago, despite hearing so-so reviews about the owner and then-piercer, Sam. Â He was doing alright, sterilized everything, put latex gloves on, stuck the needle through my ear and--oh shit--wrong clamp. Â He then proceeds to open several drawers, finds what he was looking for, and, without changing his gloves, proceeds to thread the jewelry through my bleeding cartilage. Â The problem with this (if you haven't figured it out already) is that yes, his gloves HAD been sterile, prior to him rifling through drawers. Â Any knowledgeable piercer would have either a) had the correct clamp out and ready to go, or b) changed gloves after drawer action. Â
Yeah. Â I'm over it. Â Go to a real body mod shop.
I've gotten two things pierced there: ear cartilage and more recently, my nostril. Both times I got pierced by Maggie, who is nothing short of sweet. She took time to answer questions for me and my friend (and our other friend, who was not properly taking care of her piercing, so Maggie told her what to do.)
Maggie was very sweet and quick. I had NO problems with either piercing and my friend (who also got her nose pierced but has gotten several ear piercings there) hasn't had any problems either. I know a lot of people who have gotten a variety of piercings there (belly button, tongue, ear.. etc) and no one I know has complained.
Never got a tattoo there or gone in their back room, but the piercing by Maggie is just fine!
Vibes has too many piercing, tattoo related horror stories. I cringe every time I drive by the place.
Their jewelry selection (not to mention quality) is no better than what you'd find at a mall and the staff doesn't seem to know much about cleanliness or professionalism. If it weren't for naive parents and their manipulative teenagers this place would have gone under years ago.
When it used to be Wicked it was 'the' place for all the punk, goth, skater, and stoner kids. Shoes, clothes, Â leather bracelets, studs, spikes, patches, incense, candles, decent head shop, hair dyes, nail polish, make-up, band merchandise, skate/snow board shop, etc. As a retail establishment it was the best you could get short of going to Haight.
Now it's just Vibes. That shitty place the new owners won't let die.
It takes only a few moments to educate yourself and ask questions. Don't rely solely on Yelp reviews. It's your health and your body.
