As a first timer, I was a little nervous about the process of getting a tattoo. Â After asking around, the clear choice was Jennifer Harden from 808 Tattoo. Â I showed up on a Saturday hoping to get a walk-in appointment. Â Jennifer was not only super friendly, but gave me some good advice as to the size of the tattoo I wanted and its placement. Â She patiently answered all my questions, then took me in for an appointment right away.
The process took about an hour to tattoo a Sanskrit prayer on my left side. Â The area over my ribs was the worst, but Jennifer was as gentle and meticulous as possible. Â It's been two weeks now, and the tattoo is healing very nicely, especially given her detailed after-care instructions. Â
I probably won't be getting another tattoo myself, but I would highly recommend her and 808 Tattoo to anyone! Â Thank you!
I came here about 2 and half weeks ago while visiting Honolulu. I wanted to get tatted in Hawaii and I had a tattoo I wanted done special for the occasion. I walked in to make an appointment for the last day I was going to be there because I wanted to do all my Hawaii activities first before I got tatted. The first thing I noticed was that the shop was very clean, and that's a must when getting a tattoo. The girl at the front desk was very friendly and helpful, although I don't remember her name. I didn't have a specific artist in mind, so she paired me up with Jennifer. Jennifer is very warm, friendly and is very talented. My tattoo came out great, and I couldn't be happier! If I ever have the desire to get tattooed in Oahu again, I will be more than happy to return to here.
Review Source:I had two forearm tattoos done here. Strictly professional, the scent of rubbing alcohol consuming the sterile environment all around you, assuring you that you're well taken care of in a place of true tattoo enthusiasts.
I did not go in looking for a specific artist. I went in looking for a good tattoo and that is exactly what I got.
We were visiting Oahu on vacation and decided to go to 808 for a tattoo. Honestly, I'm embarrassed to show this tattoo to anyone. I only got it 6 weeks ago and it literally looks like a bad temporary tat on the second day, like after it has rubbed off a bit. It looks like he did it free-hand, but he didn't. The design was very simple, so it shouldn't have been a big deal. The lines are awful...it looks like he used varying pressures on the lines, so they look more like dotted lines than solid ones (and trust me, this is not how it should look). The handful of people I have shown this tat to agree that it's pretty bad...that's really saying something. The people I was with got tattoos by other artists and theirs came out decent. If you don't want to feel regretful about your piece then don't have Ronnie do your tat. But then again we weren't "locals" so maybe that's why he didn't care about how bad the work was...
Review Source:Remember this name: Jennifer Hardin! Â I underwent several major surgeries. Â When my health improved the physical & emotional scars of my ordeal remained. Â Although I admired the artistry associated with tattoos, I never really settled on having one. Â
Since those surgeries & resultant scars, building my self-esteem has been an ongoing process. Â I decided to cover my scars with tattoos 2 years ago. Â That's when I first heard about Jenn Hardin.
She & I spoke about what I wanted but our schedules never seemed to mesh. Â Something strongly urged me to wait for Jenn to do the work. Â As it turns out, I underwent 2 more surgeries which would have made getting a tattoo back then pointless. Â
Jenn's portfolio does little to promote her AMAZING talent! Â She listened intently to my story and seemed to fully understand what I'd been through. Â Jenn knew how much it meant to create a great work of art. Â She also provided the results I ultimately wanted by successfully covering extensive scarring. Â Above all, I appreciate Jenn's honesty regarding what would or would not be aesthetically pleasing.
After the outlining session I went home & showered. Â I was finally comfortable looking at myself again--& the tattoo wasn't even completed. Â Jenn finished the tattoo yesterday. Â I haven't been able to stop thinking about it, looking at it, or thinking my body never looked more beautiful, not even before the surgeries when I thought it was "perfect."
I strongly recommend Jenn Hardin to anyone -- especially cancer survivors or anyone whose life has been altered by disfigurement or scarring. Â Jenn's art will forever mark a period that brought me lots of pain, yet is now a beautiful reminder of strength & triumph.
I received my very first tattoo here about 2 weeks ago, and after 15 years of deliberations, back and forth, internet research, and visiting shops in a few states, it almost felt like this is where it needed to happen. I was home visiting my family for the holidays, and prior to arriving, started checking out tattoo shops on the island to get a piece done. My brother had gone to 808 Tattoo before, and so I checked their website out, read reviews on Yelp, and reviewed each artists portfolio. There was something quirky about Jenn's portfolio, a whimsy but also a darkness at the same time, which I really liked. So without ever meeting her, I emailed and booked an appointment. She was responsive and helpful in planning what I wanted to get done, and we set the date for me to come in.
When my Mom and I got to the tattoo shop, I half expected no one to be there. I mean it was 10AM on the morning after Christmas. But Jenn was there, working on the sketch, and super friendly / happy despite the early hour. She was incredibly patient as I changed a few things around on the drawing, and again when we worked out the placement. I kept apologizing for needing time to think, and she just kept reiterating that it would be on me forever, so take my time. Never once did I feel like she was rushing me to just get it over with. Almost 3 hours after I walked into the shop, I had an amazingly clean, professional, beautiful tattoo, and the time seemed to fly by. It felt as if I had just spent the morning chatting with a friend about books and favorite tv shows, not in a tattoo shop with someone I had just met.
So in addition to Jenn being an uber talented artist, she also possesses the ability to make an uncomfortable / painful experience, easy and fun! Not a bad way to get inked, not bad at all!
I walked in on a Saturday afternoon to see Chris, as recommended by a friend. Even though I went in for a small tattoo, the receptionist and Chris were very friendly, attentive, and got me in right away despite the crowded waiting room. I got three small music notes behind my ear, which Chris drew freehand. The first time he drew them, they were a bit too large for my liking, so he made them smaller without hesitation for final approval. It was my first tattoo, and Chris was very reassuring that I was in good hands. It ended up not hurting at all. Overall, I am happy with my new tat and my experience at 808. I feel like I'm in the cool kids club now.
Review Source:I had wanted a tattoo for some times, and looked onto 808 website after a friend recommended Billy. I decided to go with Megan. When I arrived there for my appointment, I had brought a few prints of the type and position of Honu I wanted. After talking with Megan, she went to work on it, and came back with something I immediately felt in love with. My very own little Polynesian Honu. Megan being very knowledgeable, she designed a beautiful piece with a mix of several traditional polynesian tattoo styles. $150 for a full hour and I was matched for life with my beautiful little jewel. Love it! Thank you so much Megan
Review Source:Jenn Harding is the best tattoo artist ever!!!
As far as I can tell, everyone is the shop is amazing, but she is really something special.
I have a full sleeve tattoo on my left arm. She has drawn the entire thing free hand.
She is so gentle, I have never felt any pain. She is clean, professional, talented, and a gifted artist. She is also hilarious as an added bonus :)
I have had so many compliments on my tat and I tell everyone to go to her, thought I'd broadcast it on yelp too.
Go see Jenn at 808 for your next tattoo!!
I stopped by to talk with someone about what I wanted for my next piece. I was matched up with Jenn, who happened to be working that day. She and I talked and I was in no rush to get this done. Two weeks later, she free-handed the entire piece and gave me an amazing piece of art that I will cherish forever. Jenn really knows how to bring out all the details in her customer's vision. Bottom line: Jenn and the rest of the 808 gang are the best of the biz! Going back to see my girl again!!
Review Source:808 tattoo started was started in 2004 by Billy Whitney & Brian Takashita. At that time they operated two shops in Kaneohe. One that was located in Windward city which since has closed and the other one is above Pah Ke's chinese restaurant. I dont even know if that little complex it's located in has a name but most people know where Pah Ke's is, just look up & you'll see theyre neon sign in the window.
Brian & Jessie were running the shop that was located in Windward city while Billy and the rest of the crew were tattooing out of the other shop. One of my friends had gotten numerous tattoo's done by Billy over the years and she suggested we go see him to get my first tattoo, first legit tattoo anyways lol.
It was 2007 and Billy was booked solid for months at the time so we decided to go see Brian instead. I already knew where i wanted to get the tattoo and pretty much had an idea of what I wanted. I needed something that was gonna cover up the lovely home made tattoo that I got in the ghetto a few years before. Idk why I let the fool tattoo me, i think the decision was influenced by alcohol.Had to be i was in the ghetto for christs sake,i wouldnt willingly go there sober lol. Anyways my best friend wrote my ex bf's last name on my ankle and it became permanent. One of the stupidest things I have ever done. Needless to say we broke up about a year after and i had to see his effen last name everyday, such a lovely reminder of him lol. Well i was sick of seeing it so it had to go.
Brian looked at it and said he could cover it up but there would be quite a bIt of shading. At the time i didnt understand "shading" meant pain!. So i was like no problem dude that works for me. I decided on getting the Astrological sign for Gemini's. May Gems rock so it was an obvious choice for me & the design would cover my ghetto tattoo. Covering the ghetto tattoo was my main focus.
My friend decided that she was gonna get another tattoo too. So since i was doing mine on my ankle she was gonna get hers on her foot. She wanted Cherry blossoms and Brian suggested we should add a few to my design too. Oh the grand joy of having a matching frennie tattoo. I was thinking wtf are we 16 all of a sudden? But whatever i let the tattoo master use his discretion and if he thought these cherry blossoms were a good idea then so be it.
I was a lil bit nervous because i didnt know what to expect. I guess they dont want to frighten you too much so they say shit like ahhh it hurts but you'll be fine.
He takes me in to do my tattoo first & the place was very clean,he sterilized everything so that wasnt a concern. And i noticed they were watching BJ Penn's Ultimate fighter series so i was like yay i like this, this should help pass the time. I had to lie down so i didnt see anything i just heard them commentating.
He started the tattoo shortly after. The outline wasnt bad at all, it was the effen shading that hurt like a http://bitch.It didnt help that he had a "heavy hand" and everytime they cheered during the show, i cringed because he got more intense lol. Nobody told me that getting a tat on my ankle was gonna hurt until after the fact. It's not like getting a tat on your back or some meaty part of your body, it's basically tattooing on the bone. Not so much fun.
It took about an hour for him to finish and i was so excited. Not for my tattoo but for freedom from the pain. As soon as he said ok your done, i jumped up and said oh i love it, thanks so much your awesome and half ran out of there. I totally ditched my friend. I was so happy it was over that i just ditched out. She calls me about 30 mins later when her tattoo was done and tells me Brian want me to come back. I was like hell no wtf for?
Well apparently he didnt shade in the middle of the cherry blossoms on my tat. FML this was like hearing the worst news ever lol. So i looked at my ankle and sure enough the yellow was missing from the flowers. So i told her ahh tell him thanks but it's all good i dont need the stupid yellow, it's fine..it's great without it. I was just saying whatever i had to so i wouldnt have to go back. Idk how they got me to go back there but i did. Thank god it was fast because i was so over the damn tattoo and wanted to get as far away from that place as possible.
In retrospect I was being a bit of a pussy if i must say so myself. I mean yes it hurt like hell but it wasnt that crucial now that i look back on it. I have a high tolerance for pain, i just get drama queeny sometimes. He had a heavy hand but he was awesome. I dont regret getting the tattoo and most of all, it covered up what i wanted it to so i was happy in the end :)
I have seen some of the work that 808 pumps out and i would definitely recommend them if you are looking to get some ink done. Brian relocated out of state but Billy is still running the shop above Pah Ke's.
I'd suggest making an appointment because they are usually busy. See Billy if you can he does awesome work!
I have been going to 808 since 2006. They always do stellar work. I had tried out other tattoo shops around the island and no one even compares. I have been tattooed by Chris, Jenn, Brian, and Jacko. I will continue to give them my business and suggest this to everyone I know that wants ink.
Review Source:If I could give 808 Tattoo more than 5 stars, believe me, I would. I have 5 total tattoos, the last 3 were done here, and I will NEVER go anywhere else ever again.
Aaron has done my two biggest tats, one on my back, and one on my arm (which I will continue to work on...with Aaron, of course!). I am a fairly big baby when it comes to ink - don't get me wrong, I love my tattoos, and I even love getting them - butttt it doesn't feel good. Aaron has always been GREAT at keeping me distracted, listening to me ramble on about whatever pops into my head, and laughing at me when I turn into a baby, which totally keeps my mind of the pain. Not to mention that I get multiple compliments a day on either my back or my arm. His work is incredible! Clean lines, and ridiculous shading.
I always come here with one of my other friends, who is currently working on a sleeve with Jenn, and it looks fabulous. I brought my cousin here as well, and he got a large piece down by Jordan, which is also totally beautiful. I can't say enough good things about everyone here.
Prices are more than reasonable (especially compared to those crazy shops in Waikiki) and the atmosphere is always fun. Customer service is excellent as well: they got me a coffee from Starbucks on their coffee run after I had been sitting for a couple hours, and Aaron came in on his day off to work on my arm so that I could be there at the same time as a friend who was getting some work done.
It is definitely helpful to make an appointment so you can consult with your artist ahead of time, but on Saturdays they take walk-ins, so if you have a smaller tattoo in mind, you might be able to grab a spot, if you're there when they open. I assume that larger pieces will still need to make an appointment, but don't quote me on that.
I'm trying to think of something negative to add here, but I can't - the drive is long for a townie like me, but obviously completely and 100% worth it!
I went to 808 Tattoo because I saw Megan's portfolio online and thought that she could do a good contemporary Polynesian/Hawaiian Pueo tattoo for me. She is the best! She spent a lot of time with me working on a design. There was no pressure at all, each time she said if it wasn't what I wanted, no problem. I made an appointment for about two weeks later. I gave her a lot of input and pictures of similar designs and she made the design. I suggested some things and she either incorporated it into the design, or explained to me why it wouldn't work and I took her word for it. On the day of our appointment, we again work together on the final design, made again made a couple of minor adjustments and then she completed the tattoo. It totally exceeded my expectations...it looks awesome. She was very, very professional and friendly. The shop was great; I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Everyone was very pleasant. Overall, I had a great experience and I highly recommend Megan and 808 Tattoo to anyone.
Review Source:I went here after receiving several glowing recommendations from the sweet ladies at Cinnamon's in Kailua - thank you again! I met Marci (on her second time as a guest artist) - I think that's what drew me first - that a local tattoo place would be open to having someone from the mainland (or anywhere else - but she's from Chicago) come in to perform their artwork. Â When I came in a week later for my appointment she was honest without giving too much away because I was nervous -it had been 7 years since my first tattoo. Â I hope y'all can understand what I mean by that - it was a much bigger tattoo than my last and the placement made it more painful than I expected. Â As far as the artwork she brought together everything I asked for and even allowed for a last minute change - she was clear in wanting to make sure I was pleased with placement and appearance before we got started so I didn't feel rushed or pressured. Â That could be the most important part but more than anything I just want to say Thank you to 808 Tattoo for allowing people to come in and share their work - thank you to Rachel for being helpful afterwards when I had a personal loss and was checking around to every where I'd been that day :)
Other info - helpful and very funny people - sterile environment - a lot of art to look through to help decide but willing to free write whatever you have in mind
This studio is awesome. Â I started my back piece with Jenn a couple years ago. Â It took a while to get it done because I was coming in and out off and on doing sessions. Â The experience I had with 808 was a great one. Â The Artists are all cool and funny. Everytime I came in for a session everyone was like family talking stories to one another and cracking jokes. Â They play good hip hop music and comedy central is always on to make everyone feel funny and happy. Â I got a whole back piece done here and am glad that Jenn was able to pull off an excellent masterpiece. Â She was very open minded about the concept and idea about the piece I had in mind and she put them all together like nothing. Â Working on the piece with her was very good and the healing process went well as well. Â The other Artists here are really good too in their own styles and craft. Â The waiting area is not that big but it's decent. Â They have a TV mounted on and a small little arcade machine around there which is pretty cool. Â The prices for the tats are decent are quite good for what you get out of your tattoo I am sure out of anyone. Â The studio is located right in the 2nd floor of the mini plaza next to the post office and Kahala Mall. Â The counter secretary/receptionist in the front always took care of you as far as finding the right Artist for you tattoo, setting appointments, etc. Â Â Â
Yelp 365 Challenge #161/365
If you are looking for a place to get a Tattoo. Â This is the place. Â I got my first tattoo from Aaron and it turned out great. Â While I was there I saw many customers get inked. Â Regulars, Locals, Military, and tourists. Â I would recommend Aaron. Â Great perfectionist when it comes to your Tat. Â That is what you want. Â I will bring friends to this place and get all my future work from this shop.
Review Source:after plotting and researching all the tattoo shops in hawaii, reading the reviews, and actually seeing the work/portfolios, it all came down to 808 tattoo.
i've been wanting to finish up my tattoos forever and fix a couple childhood mistakes but i was a dedicated blood donor for years. since i was going to be deferred for a year anyway from being deployed i figured i'd research and try to book an artist while i was in the desert.
after seeing all the work from the artists in the shop, i selected chris sawyer as my artist for my back piece project that i've wanted for several years. it took 4 months to book him solid for this project. i like the fact that the artists are willing to listen to what you imagined in your head and really understand what you want before inking because it doesn't wash off. and they recommend artists to go to if someone can do a certain style better even if it's not in their shop because they want you to get what you want. not after your money, true passion for the sake of art.
the artists go to each other for opinions and ideas/input while sketching to get the best course of action on what will be permanent. it's like you're getting the best work from all of their shop as a whole.
chris is always really good with breaks as well, he checks up on me or notices if i start twitching more after a few hours to stop and take a smoke break. we usually get hungry around the same times too so it worked out pretty well for meals. but i always appreciated that he understands that it does hurt after a while, but is willing to keep going when i want as much as i can get in a session. chris is a straight up artist and takes pride in his work.
i'm in over 10 sessions deep into my project and it keeps looking better and better everytime. i keep getting compliments and always get the same question "where/who did you go to" a handful from my unit have already scheduled appointments after seeing the progress. can't wait until this project is done. and i am definitely going back for my next project as well. this shop and their artists live up to their reputation
Aaron was Great! Â This was only my second tattoo and I have been sitting on the idea for quite a while - it took about a month to get my schedule cleared on a day I could come in and see Aaron. Â The design he created from the elements I wanted in the tat rocks! . Â I am extremely happy with the professionalism of the shop and artists as well as the final product. Â The fact that I could get the tat done in Hawaii makes it even more special.
Review Source:So far, I've gotten two tattoos from here. I love both of them. Brian did my first tattoo a few years ago and Megan Jones did my most recent tattoo. They do excellent work at reasonable prices (of course it depends on which artist you go to). Brian and Megan were super reasonable compared to other shops I've been to. I was pricing around and one shop gave me an estimate of $700 for the tattoo I wanted. Megan did it for half that price and she did a wonderful job! Â I definitely recommend coming here. They're super friendly, extremely helpful and very reasonable. Â Also, I recommend making an appointment. Weekends are walk in only and it gets really packed.
Review Source:I get all my tatts by Billy. Â He's a great tattoo artist with a steady hand- I got a biblical tatt on my right upper shoulder and I get so many compliments ALL THE TIME! Â It just looks so perfect! Â And if you don't know exactly what you want, he'll throw out few ideas to see what your taste is like. Â He'll mix it up and get creative! Â He's VERY popular, so if you don't know him personally, you should call at least 6 months ahead to make an appointment. Â
There are other tattoo artists that work with Billy and they are all great! Â They do tribal, Japanese samurai, koi fish, Hawaiian flowers... anything you can think of!
This is my first official review on yelp. The service I got from 808 tattoo was so superb that it deserves to pop my yelp review cherry. Anyhow, about a month ago I came in for a quick consult. After looking online at artist profiles, I thought Megan's artistic style would fit the design I hand-created best as she's got that awesome tribal artistry down to the tea! (I hope that's the right phrase). Anyway, like I said I went in for a consult. It's probably best to find out when the artist you like is working and drop in.. Megan was able to look at my design between clients. My first impression of her is that she was very professional and friendly. She looked at my design, gave me a quick estimate and her email to ask any questions. Mind you, I moved out to Hawaii for 3 years and had been sitting on this tat idea for about a year.. This was something that was well thought out and researched. If anyone is curious, my tattoo was a tribal design in the shape of California (where i was born & raised) with a plumeria right smack in the middle of my design (about 9in in height and 4in by width) on my left upper shoulder. It symbolizes where I grew up and Hawaii (where i've had a BLAST these past 3 years living here). The plumeria has 5 petals (to me, each symbolizes a member of my family--one for my sister, one for my mom, and 2 for my brothers, and 1 for me). I chose a tribal design because I just love how it looks..Dont worry I will add pictures.. Before I left my consult I made an appointment with her & she gave me the instructions for tattoo-aftercare in an envelope to bring home.
On the day of my appointment, I came in and was checked in by the friendly receptionist. They made me a copy of my drivers license & sign a form basically saying you won't sue, you don't have any medical problems that prevent healing/bleeding problems/communicable diseases.. Etc.
Megan finally was finished with the client beforehand and was about 30 minutes late from my schedule appointment, but she apologized & thanked me for waiting. Another +1 for customer service. She took my design and made her outline.. She went over with me some minor details of what I wanted and then had me sit in the waiting room for about another 5 minutes while she prepped her working station. I had one of my good friends come in with me.. You know for moral support. Lol. Megan said only about 1 or 2 persons is allowed back with you. Which is pretty understandable. Since today was a weekday, there were 2 other artists tattooing.. A pretty quiet day according to Megan.
I thought the atmosphere was nice. Well lit, awesome art/paintings lining the walls, and TV on to take your mind off the pain while tattooing.
She cleaned my back well and began.. Throughout my session, we had some conversation.. This helped keep my mind off the pain.. Throughout the session she would ask me how I was holding up.. I think she could sense my anxiety since it was my first tat. Another +1 for customer service. She finished my tat in about an hour and she covered it up with Saran wrap and tape and re-iterated some post-tat care for when I go home.. I paid & was on my way..
For this being my first tattoo--I am very satisfied overall!! You definitely get what you pay for & more. Megan was great and I may even expand my tat one day.. Hope this review was helpful! I shall go post pics now.
I was excited to visit the 808 Tattoo Shop in Kaneohe. Â I called the night before to ask their shop hours, the lady on the phone told me 11 a.m. Â I called the morning of my visit and the message machine clearly states that the shop opens at 11 a.m. Â I go there are 11 a.m. and the shop is closed with all lights off...noone in sight. Â I waited there for 1 1/2 hours hoping that someone would show up. Â NOOOOOOTTT! Â I drove from the West Side for nothing. Â Noone opened the shop. Â
I will take my business somewhere else.
Got my dream tattoo the other day, done by Ronnie aka Kyu Ball. Â He's a fantastic artist. Â My tattoo turned out even better then I could have ever imagined. Â Lots of detail and color! Â The staff is fun and friendly, clean shop, and reasonable prices. I'm so happy I did my research and chose 808 Tattoo! I will definitely come back again!
Review Source:Got a tattoo from Billy that I had to wait 6 months for. Â It was well worth the wait. Â I only have one tattoo and judging by the results of this one, I plan to keep it at just one. Â All together it took 5 sessions, Â 3-4 hours each, to complete a half sleeve/chest piece. Â Some will say they could have done it faster and cheaper. Â But honestly, I didn't care because I saw Billy's work online and heard a lot of good reviews and just had to get a tattoo from him. Â His attention to detail is amazing. I got a dragon done and everything from the face to each of the scales were drawn to perfection. Â At first I felt that I could've chosen different colors but come to think of it I don't see my tattoo in any other color besides the one he and I picked out. Â
The shop is very clean, numerous flat screens to watch TV on. Â I felt very comfortable at this shop being that everyone there is very friendly. Â I agree "GO SEE BILLY!" Â Haha.
Okay...so I have to update! Â I arrived on time...and of course...Anthony was already there with my picture already drawn out. Â It was A-MAZING!! Â He is so talented!! Â We did a few minor tweaks here and there, but he was soooo gracious and didn't make me feel like an @ss for changing a few things. Â
Well first off...the work space...you could see each artist had their own workspace and already there were a few people already getting tattooed. The place is really clean! Â Also, Â there's always a receptionist, which was great because you don't want your artist constantly getting up to answer the door. Â Everyone in the back, including the customers were friendly. Â I felt at ease. Â
Another plus...they've got Comedy Central from all angles so that you can watch tv, relax, and get tattooed.
Okay..so on to the tattoo...I won't go into the whole tattoo ordeal, because pain is relative. It wasn't that bad at all. Anthony was so quick and adept with his hands that the outline was done in no time...which of course saved me some money on my...tattoo ;P. (I don't recommend getting a cheap tattoo...that is NOT what I'm saying here! You get your money's worth if you "invest" in your tattoo/tattoo artist.)
I've only gotten my outline...and all my coworkers are already raving at how clean his lines are...and that it already looks awesome!! Â
I have a few more sessions to go, but I'm already so pleased.
Lastly, he told me what I needed to do to take care of my fresh tattoo...and if I forget....they hand me some information to help me remember. Â All in all...very pleased!!!
Awesome:D Â Got my arm tat here and it looks sick! Â The whole thing took three long sittings, which is cool because they put comedy central on every time. Â It is appointment only, so call them as soon as you can; they seem to be booked a few weeks to a couple months out depending on the artist. Â Very professional.
Thanks Anthony!!
Just got my dream tattoo from Aren, who came with very high recommendations. He was very accommodating and made me feel at ease despite the fact that I have some needle issues. (yikes!) But my piece came out great and it's even more than what I hoped for! Aren totally captured the delicate beauty I envisioned and then some! The shop is spotless and everyone in there is super friendly, feels like a big family just chillin, listening to sweet jams and making high quality art. That's what it's all about right?
Review Source:Came in, told the artist Billy what i wanted done, he drew it out and BAM! I was getting inked. He is very professional and takes his time and makes sure you are completely satisfied, he is fully booked but well worth the wait. I was lucky to come in on his walk-in day. The bf is still seeing him for his last and final session and damn Billy got some mad skills! Will def book my next appointment with him when I finally decide on my last and final tattoo :)
Review Source:I adore Billy, he is a true artist. People always ask me where I get my beautiful ink done, the colors are unreal. I send them on over to Kaneohe for the best artists on the island. I have made the mistake of having other artists touch my arms with their gun, and I truly regret it! Comparing their work to the fine lines and skill of Billy's, I get sad face!
Review Source:OMG! So I've become a weekly fixture here LOL Jenn you are the most AMAZING, KICK ASS ARTIST!!! Words, money, blood I can't repay you enough for the time and care that you take with me. The work you have put in to the memorials of my mother, my father and Clive are OUTSTANDING!! Â You have made me one of the Happiest girls in the world! I LOVE it when I'm all alone and I can look at my arms and remember moments in my past brought back to life by you. Â If any one out there has never been to 808 ... you're missing out! Personally my Heart and skin belong to Jenn! Â but EVERYONE in this shop KICKS SOME SERIOUS ASS!!!! I KNOW I've been sitting in this shop for about a year now! =) Â LUCKY I LIVE HAWAII!!!! LOL
Review Source:I don't think it's ever possible to walk into 808 and just tatted up. Â Definitely have to make an appointment. Â One of my friends had to book like 5 or 6 months in advance for the artist she wanted. Â But her tatt turned out siiiick. Â But they have so many designs to choose from, and if you already have a design in mind, it looks awesome when they draw it out for you. Â
It is a little bit pricier than other places, but who cares? Â The quality is excellent, and it's gonna be on your body for pretty much the rest of your life. Â Better go all out than pay less and get a crappy one.
Do not go here! I have a number of tattoos from other places. I made an appointment here to get a custom tattoo by Jennifer. When I showed up to the appointment, she blew me off and when I asked to reschedule, she said she did not feel like doing the tattoo. I have never been treated more rudely or with less professionalism! I would not recommend this place especially if you want to actually get a tattoo! I had to go somewhere else. I recommend Hawaii Tattoo at Ala Moana mall.

Review Source:Great artists and fair pricing! I have never seen a tattoo from this shop that I haven't been impressed with. I know several people who have gone there for small pieces, and though the hourly rate is reasonable to begin with, they got discounts for having such small pieces and ended up dropping less than the "minimum price.'
I myself have gotten a tattoo with Aaron Sadoyama, and even though it was a small piece, he made sure I was comfortable through it. I was also contemplating another tattoo, and instead of trying to talk me into it so he could make some money, it was he who told me I shouldn't get it if I wasn't sure. This is one shop where the artists are more concerned with customer satisfaction than making a buck.
The other artists have always been pretty friendly even when we were there to see someone else, even starting up cross-shop conversations. The receptionists are attentive (I've been there many times and have never had to wait to be greeted) and make sure you get in touch with who you need as soon as you walk in the door, whether the artist is in the shop or they need to take a message.
The new shop is a great facility- much larger than the last storefront, and very well-kept. Art pieces from the tattoo artists line the walls, and you really get the sense that the people who work there love what they do. Definitely worth the trip even you're not in the area!
