I went to see Brian for a white ink tattoo. I was immediately comforted by the cleanliness and openness of the shop. Brian not only gave me a great tattoo, but also an exceptional experience.
This was my first tattoo so he took the time to explain to me what the process would be life, talked to me about placement, and sat with me for quite a long time while I bombarded him with questions about pain tolerance. Not once did I feel rushed or pressured. Instead, he made me feel quite comfortable and ultimately played the most significant role in my positive tattoo experience.
This place rocks. Â It's a quaint little shop in downtown Alameda. Â Plenty of parking nearby and it's easy to get to. Â While I was there, they took some walk-ins, but I'd recommend that you play it safe and make an appointment first.
I had some work done by Olmy. Â I couldn't be happier with the work he did. Â These guys will take your idea and work with you until you get a piece that will look good on your skin. Â Trust me, you need to listen to their recommendations, and you will not be disappointed.
I've had all my tattoos done by Olmy, and plan on getting some more work from him. Â The man has skills!
Got a tattoo done this past Sunday and all I can say is Reed is the man. My tattoo rocks! The shop is clean and it's in a nice quiet area. I will be back to get it colored in 3 weeks. Wish it was sooner! The straight lines and shading he did is incredible. I've been to other shops for pricing and it's true, you get what you pay for.
Having a clean tattoo is something I'd pay extra for. One satisfied customer here!
So I guess Yelp isn't a great method to choose a tattoo artist ... you've gotta get the word of mouth quotient taken care of and check out the artist's work so you're familiar with what style they specialize in, and all that important stuff.
BUT if you're considering Alameda Tattoo I would go for it, no doubt.
The studio itself is so comfortable and clean and won't make you nervous or feel like you've come through like a revolving door. It's got an enormous amount of beautiful artwork hanging everywhere so you have something to look at when you're sitting. Â And maybe it's just me but I really appreciate how they make sure the thermostat is just right. Nothing worse than shivering or sweating when you're sitting there unclothed, trying to remain perfectly still.
Reed, the artist who did my work, was just amazing. Looking back I probably did far too much 'art-directing' when he was figuring out my cover-up. I should have just let him go for it, because those parts turned out stellar. But he was so patient and friendly and never made me feel like I was being too demanding. He kept saying, "It's going to be on YOUR body, so you should feel OK telling me what you want." Â And I must emphasize again how beautiful the work came out. Just f*cking gorgeous. No other way to say it. The lines are perfect and clean and the shading is unreal.
I can't wait for my next appointment in March.
Place is quality...Brian has been working on a cover-up for my arm since October and the craftsmanship/professionalism of this establishment is always at top level.
Brian and Reed are very hospitable and easy to work with. Â I've been tattooed a number of times by a variety of artists and I'm happy to say having Brian tattoo me is a pleasure.
Just recently got my a piece done here by Reed! Such a cool guy with a great personality; which really drew me to him besides other artist. Gave me a reasonable price and has a lot of rich history within him! Definitely going to bring in a little more complicated piece to get it ink'd on me!
Review Source:I got tattooed by Brian for the first time a few days ago. I am so thrilled with my overall experience! I had sent him some pictures of ideas I had for my tattoo, and what he drew up for me was beautiful. I was really nervous about getting a tattoo that was exponentially bigger than my first one, but Brian was super nice and talked me through the whole thing. An hour and a half later, my tattoo came out perfectly and I couldn't be happier with it. I highly recommend Brian if you're looking for a talented artist and overall great guy. I can't wait to come back for another tattoo by him!
Review Source:I've had a couple of simple tattoos done by Reed here before and felt confident that he would be able to do a more complex Motorhead tattoo on my calf. Wow, what a great artist he is. Reed captured the spirit of of what I was looking for perfectly, beautiful line work, shading.detail. Could not be more please.
Not only this but I had no scabbing at all, applied Vitamin A&D for a week or so and it healed perfectly.
Definitely going back to Reed for my next tattoo, Â a great guy and a great artist who understands the art and all the nuances of tattooing.
Alameda tattoo is a great little shop. I shopped around the East Bay for three months before settling with Brian. He's an amazing artist and is probably my current favorite individual that's tattooed me. He's very laid back, focused, and has a good eye for original work or twerqing something to look just right. He did a rather large piece on my back in October that I love. I plan to have Brian do more work on me.
I was greeted by both Reed and Brian, both are very professional and neat freaks, which makes me feel good about my skin. The shop is immaculate and the service wonderful. They are both very reasonably priced for the experience they both have, and recommend people to them all the time.
Brian is an amazing tattoo artist who is a pleasure to work with. Â He's been working on my regularly for about 18 Â months now and we are in the middle of a bigger project. Â Not only is all of Brian's artwork impeccable and I always get the best compliments on his tattoos, but he is also a pleasure to be around which is pretty important if you are going to be spending a lot of 1 on 1 time with someone as you do when you get tattooed. Â I highly recommend Brian to anyone looking to get some serious custom artwork from a brilliant artist.
Review Source:Reed's the man. I had my upper back piece done by him and it turned out better then what I expected. A true professional and artist who is really easy to work with and takes the time to make sure the artwork comes out exactly as you want. I would recommend everyone I know.
Thanks for such a great piece of artwork Reed!
"Nevermore":)
Brian does impressive work. He covered a very old piece of mine and it looks great; I get a ton of compliments on it. It is very tough to tell it is a cover-up. He drew it out a bunch of different times to be sure I finally got the piece I have always wanted and I could not be happier.
He's also a really compassionate guy. If you're nervous he'll help you cope. Seriously, the man is gifted. You won't be disappointed.
Reed at Alameda Tattoo is in my opinion the BEST tattoo artist in the Bay Area! I have gone to Reed for all my work for almost 10 years and he has only got better over the years. His new shop in Alameda has a great atmosphere and his rates are VERY reasonable! You won't be disappointed.
Review Source:Real artists right here!!! I just got my first tattoo here! Brian is so nice and I freaked out a bit, but he made me feel really comfortable. He drew out my doves tail like 15 times, until I really liked it, and I just got the feeling that he genuinely cares about the work that he does. I saw Brian draw out my friends tattoo, and unlike other places he draws the picture out instead of tracing it from a picture. He is Really Great!! Go there if you want a really awesome tattoo. It's also really clean and gives a good atmosphere!
