Chris is absolutely amazing. I walked in just yesterday and he was so friendly and informative. I have gotten piercings at other shops, but Chris was the only one who took the time to make sure I was comfortable. He made sure I was okay with seeing my own blood, he kept me calm and reassured me that he was a professional :) He kept me relaxed by joking with me and he was sincere and honest. Gave me great advice as to why I should go with a stud instead of a hoop in my tragus and said that after the healing process was over, he would change my jewelry for me :)
There are a lot of people who know how to pierce, but Chris can do not only that but establish a great connection with you and just make you feel so comfortable. He isn't just about making money, he actually cares about you as a client. This is why I will be going back for more! and I recommend if you're looking for a good piercing place, look no further! Chris is the best.
Raul is THE BEST around. Â All you have to do is take one look at his work...that says it all. He is such a badass artist that people wait MONTHS to get tattooed by him. Too many tattoo artist will slap on whatever kind of shit you ask for, even when they know its a horrible idea. Thankfully Raul IS not one of them. I would say he is well worth the wait, and I highly doubt anyone has ever been unhappy with a tattoo by him.
Seriously, go to Cal Punk for all of your tattoos!!
You are the shit Uncle Raul
Sooooooo, I got my back dimples pierced a couple years ago, and since they're on my back, I kinda just forgot they were there.. (unless they got snagged or irritated!)
I yelped some local tattoo & piercing shops & decoded to come to this one, the place looked clean, it was new, and not very many reviews! I'm always down to help promote & bring more traffic into great small businesses.. So I walked in, was greeted by a friendly guy, I told him what I needed & we got right down to business!
He explained everything clearly & had really good communication.. meaning, he continued to ask if the tools were pinching my skin or causing any pain (it was never painful at all, he was REALLY careful), and before I knew it, my anchor ends were changed!
I got to see how gross my old ones were & felt bad that my poor piercings had to suffer with those in for so long! I should've gotten them switched out at least a year ago..ugh.
If I ever want more piercings, I'm definitely coming back here, they know what they're doing, give you great tips/advice on care & when I told him I wanted to put star shaped anchor ends in, he advised against it because they are highly likely to get snagged or torn out. I'm glad he was honest & told me the risks instead of not saying anything & let me risk my piercings, because the last thing I need is to get a dermal anchor ripped out of my skin!!
Highly recommended, great communication & customer service!
Went to a bunch of different tat places, they were all rude and/or didn't care.
Called Cal Punk and dude on the phone was super nice. Walked in and met Chris, Mick and the cool chick at the desk (ask to see her leg...badass!)
Chris explained the entire process of my nose piercing. Told me I can come back to tweek it after the swelling goes down.
Fast, professional, FRIENDLY. I highly suggest Cal Punk.
I had gotten a triple forward helix piercing on my ear at a studio in Southern California with my best friend. The original piercer didn't tell me how to care for it or give me any warnings on this piercing. My best friends immediately became infected and she called me to advise me to have mine looked at. I went to Chris who was very kind and very helpful in looking at my piercing and advising what the next steps should be. He was knowledgeable and explained this piercing has a high scar and infection rate and does not recommend them but still was willing to put in higher quality jewelry to help my piercings heal. I went back two weeks later to get the better jewelry put in but I had developed scars. He was very informative on what my options were and what his opinions were. I ended up taking them out and he cleaned my ear for me. Both times I saw him he was very attentive and both times he did not charge me for looking at my ears, the jewelry removal or cleaning. He just wanted to make sure the piercing was healthy and I was happy. I'm going back to get my nose done and I know I'll have an excellent piercing when I do. I highly, highly recommend him.
Review Source:I got my first tattoo done today (an Orca whale in the Pacific Northwest style) from Mick and it came out absolutely incredible. I sent him a design I had seen online and he made a unique tattoo based upon the original design that came out even better than I had expected. The shop is very clean, the employees are super cool and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I'd definitely recommend this place for anybody interested in getting a tattoo, whether it's your first or 100th piece.
Review Source:So I went here to get pricing for 2 fairies w/ names I want to get for my twins. This douchebag with a lip ring tries to talk me into having HIM draw something instead of this picture I brought in. I said I really want THIS. He tries to tell me why this tattoo won't work (then asking me if I have tattoos already which I do) because it will run. Then he suggests getting one big fairy- my husband chimes in And says its for my twin daughters, that I want TWO. He then seems insulted I don't want his artwork and says everything is CUSTOM- and it's HIS name on it, and if someone says they can do it, they will "fuck it up." alright buddy- if you can't do it just say so. Going elsewhere!
Review Source:I honestly hate writing bad reviews but really I got screwed so here I am.
I had a tattoo appointment on 10/20 with Jerry. I was getting a cover-up, Jerry had a picture of what I had and we had discussed a nice design. He told me he could use part of my tattoo to flow with the new one, gave me a visual ( a flock of crows going up my shoulder & yes I wanted crows)..sounded great I was excited. The front desk called and said they needed a $50 deposit, I was willing and cool I was ready. Unfortunately when it came time to the appt Jerry had a death in the family and couldn't make it. They said they had Mick who could do the tattoo. OK cool. I told them I was coming from Benicia and definitely wanted to get the work done.
I get to the appt, there's 2 guys sitting there, I introduce myself and one of the stands up and says "ok let me see this tat", never introduced himself so I pretty much assumed it was Mick. He takes a look and brings out this picture of a HUGE bird with large wings for the cover up. Problem #1 It was the size of my hand Problem #2 It looked nothing like a crow Problem #3 Completely opposite from the design Jerry and I had discussed. So here we are Mick and I going back and forth on how we can make this work. I was completely unprepared for something that big. He kept telling me there were rules to tattooing and people who aren't tattoo artists don't understand them. He kept telling me this was the only option I had. So I flaked out on the "crow" because I just wasn't prepared for something that big. And him and I weren't agreeing on anything as far as a design.
So I asked him since I already drove all the way out here, paid a deposit I want to get something tatted. I said can we just do this - I want  "Live. Laugh. Love" on my other shoulder. What did Mick say? "I've done plenty of those and they never look right". So at that point I was done. He showed obvious frustration with me and at that point I was frustrated cause apparently if it wasn't this big bird that was going to get tatted it was nothing. So I left.
I called today to get my deposit back. And the wonderful Mick answers the phone. I asked for the owner Raul and was told he was busy in the middle of a tattoo. I explain to Mick that I wanted my deposit back because even though I didn't get the original tattoo I tried to get a tattoo and you refused to do it. Mick tells me the problem is I wasn't sure what I wanted and he still needs to get paid for his time. Which I said I understand but I tried to get a second tattoo so we both didn't waste our time and you didn't want to do that either. Well he tells me he's willing to do a tattoo if I want to come back out there. Do you really think I want to drove all the way out there to argue with the same guy about a tattoo that's going on my body? No thanks.
Moral of the story, ladies never get a guys' name tatted on you, it's a jinx and frankly all tattoo artists laugh at you when you want to get it covered up. And make sure you know what you want and that the artist doing it WANTS to do it. Don;t end like me with some a**holes name still tatted on you and down $50, not mentioning time and gas.
Took my daughter in to get her nose pierced by Chris and he was very impressive. Knew exactly what he was doing and made us feel super comfortable.
Had to go back two weeks later because the piercing fell out (like all do) and asked Chris to show us how to put it back in (cause it's a nightmare) and he went above and beyond in helping us out.
If you need any piercings or tattoos definitely check this shop out. Everyone is super nice and professional.
Raul is amazing I would never let anyone tattoo me.. He books up fast so making your appt today probably gets you an appt in about a month but when investing in something that's on you for life he is definitely worth the wait. He's been doing my entire back for about a year now and I always get compliments on how beautiful and detailed it is. This is the only place I recommend
Review Source:I recently got two piercings from Chris and it was such a great experience. I was really nervous and he calmed my nerves and made it a memorable experience. I really appreciated his enthusiasm for his work and his professional opinions. Everything was very clean and sanitized which is really important to me. I am looking forward to a few more piercings with him and trust his work 100%. I recommend Chris to anyone that is interested in future piercings. He does great work!
Review Source:My friend and I had made an appointment a few months back to get our tattoos colored in. Even though we had an appointment we still had to wait 2 hours before being seen by anyone. At that point, Jerry was free and got some colors together to start coloring in my tattoo. He was very friendly and funny and did his best to do what I wanted. He also colored in my friends tattoo that had been fading. We felt like he was rushing because he was meeting up with one of his buddies for dinner... Well, my tattoo had gotten infected. Not only did mine get infected, my friend had horrible bruising for 2 weeks!!! This isn't my first or even second tattoo. This was my 7th tattoo so its not like I don't know how to take care of it. I am so beyond disappointed. I will never recommend this place. Thankfully, I found a reputable place that's willing to fix it all. I guess that's the price you pay when you go just anywhere.
Review Source:WORST experience ever! Â My husband got a tattoo here & had a very good experience so I thought it only fitting for my best friend & myself to get memorial tattoos here...gladly we did NOT get them done due to loss of paper work and being told that not only were our tattoo ideas "not a big deal" but we were NOT important enough to be clients. Too bad for them, they lost a lot of work due to that huge mistake-if your getting inked, Its ALL important!
Review Source:Awesome! Went in with my mom yesterday for "Mother-Daughter" tattoos, and they both turned out beautifully! They really take the time to draw up your tattoo  before you get there. Mick was the artist who did our tattoos this time and also did a tattoo on my foot a few months ago. I couldnt be happier with how they both turned out and i think i can say the same for my mother. I HIGHLY recommend going to Calculated Punkture for your tattoo!!
Review Source:so i called to see if i could get in for a quick tattoo, and the guy said " we are all booked up till closed, sorry about that". i was bummed out but i want to see how booked up they really are so i drove down there and there was NO ONE in the dam store, no one getting tatted.. it was completely shady of them.. artistic but so shady when it comes to new customers. they close at "ten" but as i went in there at like eight they said they were about to close.. super dumb just saying..
Review Source:About a month or so ago, I attempted to change out my monroe piercing on my own. Didn't go so well.
I immediately called the place where I had it done, said their piercer was in, so I drive my butt all the way to Oakley, to find out they lied. I'm pissed because not only did they lie, they had this don't-give-a-crap attitude with me.
I drive to CalPunk and my day is immediately turned around. I was greeted  when I walked in in a friendly and welcoming tone ( unlike some other places around the brentwood oakley area) and I explained what happened, and I was able to be helped immediately by the friendliest piercer I've met so far. They only charged me for the new jewelry, which was more then fine. They are very clean and professional. And just pleasant people to be around when your getting stabbed in the mouth. I had a great experience here and will only be going here for my future piercings and possible tatts. Def saved my day!
AMAZING!! Very clean shop, super professional atmosphere, extremely knowledgable staff!! Shaugn who is a new artist here finished a Tiki that had been started by Randy (previous employee) it was just an outline. My tattoo came out incredible...wayyyyyy beyond my expectations!!!! Shaugn is the man, and although he is new and on 2 week trial, I fir one hope he sticks around to do my sleeve work!
