Sue is great! Been going to her for all of my permanent make up needs! She is:
-Patient
-Knowledgeable
-Uses great color that does not fade into red, purple, or blue like you see on others
-Professional and most importantly and excuse my language, but she won't F*ck up your brows =)
Thanks Sue! You the bomb dot com!
I just went back for my complimentary follow up just shy of a year. Sue had used a new color on my brows and she wasn't happy with it one year latter. When I first had my brows done I wasn't used to seeing brows on my face so I had her go light and thin. We both agreed that now it should be darker and add more shape to them. Sue completely redid my brows. I'm so happy with the new look.
You would be crazy to go anywhere else.
Sue is the eye brow queen! She knows what she's doing. I've never gotten my eye brows tattooed before and I wanted to do some research and see which was the best place to go to.
I called Sue for a free consultation and we met up at her office one afternoon and she showed me her work. Her portfolio is huge! She described to me what the problem was with each client and how she serviced them. After looking through her book and asking a couple questions, I set up an appointment with her two days later.
I arrive to my appointment and she stenciled in my eye brows for the shape. I am VERY picky when it comes to my eye brows, so giving someone else the power to tattoo my eye brows is a really big deal. I didn't settle for anything, and I told her exactly what I wanted. Every time she finished the stencil and I wasn't completely satisfied, she would fix it again and again until we found the perfect shape. If you don't like the shape, JUST TELL HER, SHE WILL LISTEN AND FIX IT UNTIL YOU ARE HAPPY.
After we found the shape, she had to start tattooing me without any numbing cream because she didn't want to lose the shape, which was fine (Honestly, I was expecting it to hurt a lot more than it did). After she got the outline of my brows, she wiped off the excess color and put the numbing cream and continued the procedure. If you feel the needles and want more numbing cream, speak up and she will give it to you. Sue told me that one session usually lasts for an hour and a half to two hours but she finished mine in one hour! It went by really quickly.
After the procedure was over, my brows were obviously swollen but I still loved it! She told me if I love them now, I'm going to love them even more when they're healed up! Boy, was she right! They're not completely healed yet, but the swelling went down and I'm very satisfied with the results.
I will definitely not return to Sue for any future work! Â I came in for an eyebrow touchup and ended up with ORANGE eyebrows! Â My own eyebrows are medium brown so the orange color looks like clown makeup. Â I will really need to use eyebrow pencil to cover that color up! Then she applied eyeliner but the top left eyeliner is 1/4" longer than the right eyeliner! Â And at the outer edge of the bottom liner, there is a bruise beside my right eye! Sue is not considerate of her clients' comfort; when she started using the electric needle on my eyes, I was in pain and asked her to stop for a minute but she refused and kept right on pressing that needle into my skin. Â I was afraid to move for fear of damaging my eyes. In addition, Sue is NOT professional. When I called her the next day to ask about problems with my treatment, she told me she had another call coming in, hung up on me and never returned my call! Â She didn't even have any written instructions for follow-up treatment available! Â She wanted me to follow her to the grocery store so she could make a copy for me!
Sue's business etiquette could stand lots of improvement. When I arrived at her house exactly on time for our appointment, I had to ring and knock several times with no response. Â Finally, about 6 minutes later, as I started to walk back to her treatment room, she appeared and explained she was doing yard work. She was not the least bit apologetic but rather told me I wasn't waiting too long! Â
This lady likes to be right all the time and will continually argue with you about color, shape, treatment. She can't seem to hear anyone else's opinion but hers.
Overall, not a good experience. Â Avoid Care Free Permanent Makeup!
I got my eye liner done last January and it looks so wonderful! I love it. I came back for my free touch up in April and got my eye brows done for a very good rate also. My face looks pulled together all the time and my eye brows look wonderful. They were so thin from years of over plucking and now they look so natural. No on knows its tattooed on until I tell them. It does feel uncomfortable and the numbing stuff makes your eyes feel heavy but it is so worth the little pain and the cost is very reasonable for what u get. Go with Sue, she is great!!
Review Source:My very first tattoo! Yesterday as I sat in Sue V.'s makeup chair (with a blanket she kindly offered me), having my top eyelid liner inked on for good, I had no idea how giddy I'd feel about my new makeup.
I chose CPM because I love the look of freshly applied eye makeup. But at the end of the day before my shower, the stuff's half worn off if I haven't had the chance to touch it up and the shower gets it smudged all over looking worse than before. I'm a college student who's always finding myself touching up my makeup throughout the day or wiping off liner that's smudged.
If you choose permanent makeup with Sue, you can expect a tattoo that looks amazingly meticulous because she's using a needle that looks 20xs smaller than the head of an eye pencil and so you won't get a sloppy line with her instruments and expertise.
What to expect for pain/discomort:
a. Before she starts she applies a topical anesthetic to your eyeline and leaves it on for 7 minutes to set in.
b. After the topical, she uses a needle to put professional anesthesia in the spot where your makeup will go. This part was the most uncomfortable but tolerable. You can feel the sharpness but it doesn't feel terrible. This lasted a minute or two per side.
c. Having the makeup put in was on the uncomfortable side only because she has to really spread your eyelid to get the perfect line & while doing this it does press against your eye.
By the way, it's not as common for her but I opted to have my tattoo placed in my top waterline which is alot more sensitive than above your lashes where most people have theirs done.
+ she has a HUGE book of before and afters shots you can look at and all the makeup looks great.
I was particularly impressed with how amazing and natural her brow tattoo shots looked,
she must have tons of shades to match everyone.
I took my mom to go see Sue to get her eyeliner and eyebrows tattooed. My mom is far from risk taking so I was surprised when she said she wanted to do this. Mind you, my mom has never done anything drastic let alone get her face tattooed! So we went in, and Sue put numbing cream on her eyebrows. My mom said it was painless! The only thing that she was slightly uncomfortable about was that the eyeliner "tickled" when it was being tattooed, but that's understandable because anything coming near your eye makes you want to blink.
Sue is the best and does her job extremely well. I would highly recommend her to anyone! All her reviews (except for one review ) are all 5 stars! And I completely understand why she is rated so highly. I wouldn't recommend anyone else for such a job.
Sue is ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL AND CARING!!!
My mother had been wanting to get her eyebrows done for some time and she heard from her friends and co-workers that permanent make-up was the way to go. Of course, being the overprotective daughter that I am, I began researching the permanent make-up process, after-care, pricing and options. Boyyyyyy... the idea of permanent make-up and how it was done was beyond intriguing to me, especially because I "sport" almost a dozen tats. I could actually envision myself waking up for the next 3-5 years without the "raccoon" look :). Well...after all of the researching on my only trusted source, YELP... I found Care Free Permanent Makeup in San Jose, not to mention, it was only a few blocks from my home...yeah, I know...BINGO!!! Additionally, the reviews (w/the exception of one) were all stellar.
Sue, made my mother and I feel at home. Her workspace was clean and tidy and I watched her remove the needle from its sterile packaging. She made sure to wear sterile gloves and, more importantly, answered any questions we might have had before, during and after my mother's treatment. Sue made us feel comfortable and reassured as we chatted about relationships to take my mother's mind to a different place, so as to not anticipate any kind of pain.
When my mother's eyebrows were done, the first thing she said was, "That didn't hurt like I thought it would!", this coming from a woman who has never experienced any kind fast-paced needle with ink hitting her skin :). The entire process took approximately an hour and the eyebrows came out real good - we both like them. I liked them so much that I contemplated the thought of getting they permanent eyeliner done, BUT... I thought for too long *lol*. I might do it one day though.
For eight weeks, my mother has not had to worry about accidentally smearing her eyebrows or forgetting to draw them on; she doesn't worry about her oily skin possibly making her brows smudge in less than an hour. It's actually "heavenly" for her. We're already making our follow-up appointment with Sue this week to finish off the process and I'm looking forward to seeing such a wonderful woman again.
THANKS SUE!!!

Today was my second visit to see Sue. She is amazing. Not everyone is willing to clean up other people's poor work but Sue became my angel and has continued to work miracles. I found her on YELP and took a chance. It was a great decision. [Before Sue I went to someone else based on a referral [they hadn't used her in a few years.] Let it suffice to say it was a nightmare for me and the job was never properly completed and I refused to go back even though I had already paid.]
The first thing I noticed about Sue was how clean her office is and how meticulous she is about a sterile work environment. [the other person answered the phone while working on my eyes!]
First Sue and I spoke on the phone and she offered me a free consult. We set it up with the option to stay for treatment if I wanted to do that. I wanted to have my eyeliner completed but when Sue saw the color of my eyebrows she suggested correcting that first. What a difference it made! She corrected the color to be more natural [versus gray and harsh looking] and corrected thickness and length, thoroughly explaining it each step of the way. Due to time restrictions that was all I had time for that day.
So today was my eyeliner appointment. Because of Sue's experience and expertise, my eyes did not swell up at all during the procedure. I will tell you that for me, having someone inject color on my lids is not the most comfortable experience but I did not experience pain and if I indicated any discomfort Sue put more 'stuff' on [whatever it is she uses to numb the area.] In addition she touched up and re-contoured my eyebrows with an astonishing result. Of course I left there with very detailed instructions again.
Sue has an amazing eye for color, style and detail. A Rembrandt of the skin, Sue is a perfectionist which is a good thing when someone is applying permanent makeup. I can't thank her enough for the excellent job she has done. I guess the best way I can thank her is to give her the highest rating and tell you all about it. As a matter of fact, I did refer a new client to her today shortly after my appointment.
She made my eyebrows CROOKED. Â Sue doesn't measure or sketch in your eyebrows before she starts tattooing which I thought was odd as all tattoo artists do that (except for her). Â One of my eyebrows had a straight arch and the other had a rounded arch. Â The left one was shorter and the right one was longer. Â When I called her the next day after I had a better look at my eyebrows, I told her my eyebrows were crooked, she said they were stilll swolen and they would (hopefully) be more even. Â How can it be more symmetrical if the swelling goes down? Â
Fast forward 8 weeks later for my follow-up: Â I pointed out how the eyebrows were uneven and she said she didn't see anything. Â She even went on to explain that my eyebrows were perfectly fine being the way they were (aka being crooked) because she said my forehead was crooked and she tattooed based on my crooked forehead. Â Really!?! Â Really!?!? Â First of all my forehead is perfectly fine and symmetrical. Â Second, even if that was true (and it's not) a good tatoo artist will always make your eyebrows even no matter what. Â Anyways, after muuuuch explanation/argument, she fixed it. Â Now it's better than it was before, but not perfect. Â I would still need to pencil in my eyebrows a little. Â Thank god eyebrow tattoos fade over time. Â The experience left me emotionally scarred. Â Go to another tattoo artist and although you'll be spending a little bit more, it'll be well worth it.
I got my eyeliner tattooed by Sue two weeks ago and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I was extremely nervous the day I went to have my eyes done, but she immediately made me feel relaxed. She put on music and used numbing gel so the tattoo was pretty much pain free. I was also really impressed by her portfolio and there was no doubt in my mind that she would do an amazing job. Her prices are fair and affordable compared to other places I researched. I'm excited  to go back for my complimentary touch up and to get my lips and eyebrows done. Thanks Sue!
Review Source:I was so nervous when I first went to Sue. I am a big chicken and I must admit due to the sensitiving of my skin, it really hurt. But the end result I am so pleased about. I cannot begin to praise Sue enough. She is truly an artist and definitely has a talent for this. I am so glad that I chose her. A word of advise, take someone with you. When you are in pain and you just want the job to be done, a second person really does help to make the opionion for you. I am so glad I brought my friend with me to be my voice.
Review Source:I've been to Sue several times for different things; under eyeliner, eyebrows and touch-ups. She's so dedicated to the art of making you feel and look your best !  I put all my trust in her and she deserves it !  She is truly a professional. Her prices are extremely competitive too. I would really like some of my friends to have consultations with her but they are just a bit frightened of permanent make-up ...  so, I tell them it's their loss. I like  her flexibility with regard to scheduling as well. A great choice !!!!
Review Source:So I got permanent make up on my eyebrows about 2 years ago at this one asian place on monterey rd near marina foods. NEVER GO THERE. GO HERE INSTEAD! the other place did a horrible job and scarred my skin. I wish I found Sue earlier.
I called Sue the same day I found her on yelp, asked her some questions and she gave me a free consultation on such a short notice. Her times are very flexible and she is just about the sweetest person ever. She showed me pictures of her other clients and how their permanent make-up turned out and they were amazing so I didn't hesitate to let her work on my brows.
She uses top-notch numbing cream, she has a variety of colors, and she is talented and very skilled. Since the other place screwed up on me, I was difficult to work with but Sue fixed it and now I love them. they're as natural looking as i'll ever get to since i have no hair on my brows =]
I was in San Jose recently visiting my son and his family. I had my eyebrows done about 3 years ago in upstate New York and they had faded and turned a strange reddish color. I called Susan at Carefree and asked if she could do a touchup on them and she was able to get me in the very next day due to a cancellation. My son and one of my friends went with me and we were all very impressed by her set up and by how nice she was. She put me completely at ease and was able to fix the botched job that I had done in NY and I was so impressed with my eyebrows that I had her go ahead and do the permanent eye liner on my upper and lower lids while I was there.
Everything looks great and I know that now I can wake up every morning and alread have beautiful looking eyes. I cannot express enough how pleased I am. Maybe when I visit next year I might have my lips done. Thank you Susan, you are the best!
The one thing I hate about make up is that by the end of the day it just doesn't have the same impact that it did when you first initially put it on.
I went to Carefree Permanent Make up for a free consultation about 2 years ago for my eye brows. I was a little hesitant because the address led me to a house. Susan was VERY professional though. She has a separate house in the back for all procedures. She explained to me that she has over 19 (well I guess 22 now haha) years of plastic surgery experience and she also worked closely with a cosmetic surgeon doing permanent make up for burn victims.
She had a HUGE portfolio of patients with their before and after pictures. She does eyebrows, eye liner and lip color. Â She also shapes your brows and has a wide variety of different shades of color to choose from. Â She explained that the number one biggest mistake most permanent make up places do is have 1 standard color for cosmetic tattoos. Since I was a little bit hesitant to tattoo my eye brows, I got the lightest shade (aka blonde). The color worked great for me. She also has a complimentary "touch up" service where she goes over the brow again with color within a year.
She also numbs the eye brow area so it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. Infact, it wasn't painful at all!!! Also everything was sterile, her work place was clean, she was very very friendly and just made you feel at home.
She gives you after color creme and a LONG list of DO NOTs after you leave. She also gave me a check up call about a month after seeing how the color turned out.
You also get 5$ off any other permanent make up if you tell a friend. 2 of my other friends got their eye brows done too. They loved Susan. It was a little expensive. I believe I payed 250$ but it was worth the money. I now have permanent NATURAL looking eyebrows. (I wanted to make sure I didn't look like a drag queen haha)
I really like Susan's professionalism and how she actually seemed to care about what I wanted. I went to about 5 other free consultations before I decided to go with Susan. She is so down to Earth and even a year after when I called her for a follow up she remembered who I was. I would say to go in for the free consultation. You won't be disappointed!!!
