Avoid the big surly piercer guy with no tattoos or piercings! Â Me, my cousin, and my niece all had to go back a 2nd time to fix our nose piercings because he cut the studs too short. Â They were digging into our noses and not healing properly.
Barry was awesome, friendly, polite, and fixed them with no pain. Â Barry rocks!
I was looking for a piercer to change out my trustee navel ring with PTFE pregnancy jewelry. I bought a highly rated piece and found that it is recommended that the shaft be autoclaved and the piercing changed by a pro. ChiTown said they couldn't use my new jewelry, but also didn't carry PTFE (or any) flexible navel jewelry that I could buy, so I'm out of luck. Two stars because the girl who answered the phone seemed nice; I was on hold for several minutes, so I'm assuming she really tried to find something pregnancy friendly.
Review Source:I got a nose piercing back in November 2011. They were very nice to me when I came in and I came in without an appointment and they took me very quickly. He brought me over to the chair and started cleaning the inside and outside of my nose. I touched it barely to itch and it went back to his supplies and cleaned it again! He was very thorough and kept me at ease. He let me pick a colored stud and I chose red. It was super affordable and the staff was just so nice. I'll be coming back for a possible another piercing or for my first tattoo, can't decide yet!
Review Source:The phrase "you get what you pay for" has never been more true to me before especially after visiting this parlor. My naiveté baited me in here especially since the signs on the front stated that piercings were $30, and I was jonesin' for a septum ring.
I walked into an empty parlor on a weekday afternoon. There was no one there for about a minute, and finally a man approached me. I initially thought this guy was a plumber because he had zero tattoos or piercings and wore the type of clothing one would wear when fixing toilets. He said he was the piercer to which I said, "Oh, ok." He then had me sign paperwork and all that liability jazz.
Now, I knew I was getting a $30 dollar piercing the moment when I felt him slowly twisting the needle inside my nose. I started to cry spontaneously because of the natural nerve irritation and the fact that it hurt so much I felt like the crazy dude from "Saw" booby trapped my face and this man was digging for the key that would prevent him from dying a painful gut-wrenching death. I also started to bleed profusely from my nose which was strange since this has never happened before. Moving onto other horror films, I began to look like one of Michael Meyer's victims from Rob Zombie's "Halloween".
I also told this dude that I needed to be able to flip my ring in for work and he assured me I would be able to do that. ANYWHOOO. Next morning before I had to go to work, LO' AND BEHOLD the ring would not flip inside my nose. I tried. My boyfriend tried. It was no use. The barbells were fused too tightly together and this ring was as stubborn as a mule and would not budge whatsoever. My only choice at the time was going back to that parlor and demand that I get this problem fixed. I ended up having to miss work which was fucking ridiculous because my boss said that septum rings are kinda hardcore and may frighten the geriatric clientele at my work.
When I returned to the shop the second time, I was greeted by a different piercer. I explained to her what happened and she said she'd be able to fix it. Thankfully she was able to separate the barbells and I was able to flip the ring inside.
Lesson learned: stay away from  piercers who don't have piercings or tattoos. ALSO do more research in regards to who will be doing your piercing so you don't end up with a shoddy job I will not be going back here hell noooo.
I went here for my first tattoo since my friend lives right near it. I read the reviews on yelp and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. I walked in, and the first thing one of the guys had said is, "What do you want?" in a very rude manner. I decided to think nothing of it and explained what I wanted. They tweaked my design because they said the first wouldn't work on my foot, and since I liked the new one, I agreed to it. It was just an outline of a dove holding a small flower, no bigger than the size of a  fist. It took only about 20 minutes, and I really liked the end result. Unfortunately I later found out that I over paid for the tattoo ($120). My tattoo artist was nice enough, so props to her, but everyone else had attitude problems, and I don't appreciate them ripping me off. I'm sure they do have really good service, etc, but I unfortunately didn't see it when I went to see them.
But if you do decide to get your tattoo done here, do NOT tell them it's your first tattoo until after they've quoted you a price. I have a feeling that's how they rip people off. I'm still debating whether I want to come here for my next tattoo, or find somewhere else, Â but as of this moment, I don't see myself going back anytime soon.
Got my nose pierced here, belly too. I swear everything they do is crooked. Belly ring ring seemed crooked so I got a good ring to hide it so you'd never know. But my nose ring, how do you do that wrong. Process went smooth, it wasn't until months later I go to replace the ring and found out it was pierced odd even with the needle on a slant so I wasn't able to put a new ring in bc I couldn't find the exit for the hole. It closed from the inside so now my ring is partially in. They say "there's nun we can really do bout it... Yea" that's it. Wow.
Review Source:Open until 2 am? Yes! Takes walk ins in a timely manner? Yes! Provides parking behind the building? Yes! So it was a no brainer when I came here for my first tattoo. The paperwork is also pretty painless and only three pages where they ask you the basic information. My artist Joey was great, I was super nervous but he showed me why there was no reason to get excited. I thought it was reasonably priced as well. I got a wrist tattoo that was two lines across and it was only $50. I had been other places that had quoted me more but I had chickened out. I was comfortable the whole time and everything was clean and well organized. On a Friday night, even though they were really busy, I only had to wait about half an hour without an appointment. Joey also told me to come back for free touchups in the future if I needed them but right now my tattoo looks great. It's the morning after and it isn't even swollen or painful anymore. I'll be back for sure since I've now been bitten by the tattoo bug!

Cute little couch setup to fill paperwork on.

Clean studio and comfortable piercing chair (for me, reclined since it was a Rook piercing)

A little hard to find if you're not sure where it is.
Check.
$30 flat for rook piercing, $30 flat for helix piercing.
Check and Check.
Make sure to have your ID on you so they can make a photocopy.
Check-a-roo.
Quick and relatively painless work, well lit room and comfortable environment all around the studio. Blu-Ray TV next to the room, but more so for the piercer's off time pleasure.
Quiet place, even the TV. That was pleasing and soothing.
Not that excessive jewelry collection and the prices are not marked for a LOT of the piercings under the counter by the piercing studio, which is a little annoying. However, I got two pairs of nice studs for my lobes for $30 flat. Two different types of studs as well.
Little card to tell you about upkeep for your piercing on your way out. Before I got my piercing I was asked what ear, to which I said "Left" and he said to indicate it with my hand, which I think is practical.
The piercer guy was a little sassy, not particularly in a good or bad way...but as Olivia K put it, "I'm not expecting to have a tea party with me so whatever."
Overall great experience and I'd gladly return for another piercing.
I always pass this shop and I was also recommended by a couple friends to go here. One person got her industrial pierced and another got her tongue pierced. After looking around for a great price, clean shop, good reviews, I just ended up here at ChiTown Ink. I was greeted by a couple of guys goofing around, and not much conversation was made by my piercer. he seemed pretty rude, he gave me a couple of attitudes here and there but I finally got my lip pierced. It was painless and fairly quick. My overall experience was decent. I wish they were a bit more friendlier but other than that, the place is very clean.
I'm considering my tongue piercing/ belly button here too. Still browsing around for a friendlier place.
Called on the phone to get information on a piercing for my 17 years old. They were friendly, and knowledgable. The place is neat and clean. Sean did an excellent job with my daughters belly button piercing. The price is great. He spend a lot of time explaining to my daughter on how to care for it. Love this place, I will be back to get my tattoo.
Review Source:I pass by this shop every morning on the way to work, and on the way home... I have never stopped in there (and frankly had no intentions to do so) until last night. Â I went in there with a friend to help her purchase new nose rings. We both had some questions about fixing existing tats. Â Let me just say this was THE best experience I have ever had at a tattoo shop!
Jerry greeted us, and asked us what we needed to have done. Â I then showed him the infamous crappy wrist tat I got a year ago. Â The lettering was all faded, and looked like it said STELL instead of what it was really supposed to say (STEEL). Â Jerry looked at it, and immediately told me what the problem was, and how he could fix the tat. Â Funny thing is he was the first artist to NOT tell me it couldn't be fixed. He asked if I wanted it done last night, and I pretty much himmed and hawed... I figured I would come back in a couple weeks for the work. Â
I perused through his portfolio for a bit, and was immediately impressed with ALL of his work. Â Sometimes when you see an artist's portfolio you don't get a sense of what they are best at - but in this case, ALL of Jerry's work was amazing! Â He even mentioned that he draws almost every single sketch!! Â I was impressed, and knew this was the man for the job (and for my future work too). Â
He finished up my friend's tat (which by the way looks BEAUTIFUL after the hack job she first got), and started on mine. Â Jerry, if you read this, I cannot thank you enough for the gorgeous job!!!! Â I am in love with the way you fixed my existing tat! Â Not only was my original idea recaptured, but it was recaptured correctly, and at a fair price. Â ChiTown Tattoo is a GREAT shop, and a non-pressure environment. Â I am so happy I decided to spend the money and get my work done by Jerry. Â They definitely have a repeat customer for a long time coming! Â Thank you for making my STEEL tat look fantastic!!!
I have been recommened by an acquaintance to go in and get the tattoo I wanted there as Bill Bumps has estimated it (from her description and the picture she showed him. They're friends) and told her it should not be anywhere more than $50. Or so she said. "Perfect," I thought.
I go in with a picture of what I want (a word, Pamietaj. It was already in the font I wanted and everything. Perfect size. I just wanted it to get transferred to the back of my neck.) Bill Bumps says it will cost me $130. WTF? Hadn't he told my friend that he will do it for much cheaper? The sign also says "Tattoos starting from $40, especially names" Isnt a word pretty much similar to a name? There was no way I'm paying 130 for a small tattoo of a word!!! I negotiated the price down to $100, which was still expensive but I felt bad so I just went for it.
The tattoo process was good, not very painful and Bill made me feel comfortable and he bummed a cigarette before so that was good since I've just ran out. But another thing I really did not like was that he forgot to tattoo in the dot over the letter "i". Like.. wow. Really? Of course I didn't know until way later when I got to take off the bandage and it was already too late to say anything.
I don't recommend that place. Sorry.
clean, convenient, reasonably priced, and friendly! my friend wanted to get her foot tattooed (pretty simple design) so we went straight to tattoo factory since we had stuff done there before....i know prices go up due to inflation and everything else, but they wanted over $100 more than what she ended up paying at this place! the only reason i don't give it 5 stars was the agonizing wait...but i was pretty hungry so every minute seemed like an hour. i'm definitely recommending chitown tattoo to all my friends, and will most likely be back soon for a tattoo of my own!
