Just got my third and fourth tattoos here - they are perfect. I had such a great experience here. The guys were so friendly and very focused on making sure I was comfortable. If I was to get another tattoo soon, and anywhere near to upland/Claremont, I would definitely come back here.
Review Source:I had been wanting to get  a tattoo for ever. Nothing crazy and something near to my heart, I figured it out.... My kids names on the back of my arm. I have a friend that referred me to Dewey, and let me tell you he was(is) amazing! Made me feel very comfortable and relaxed. The shop is very clean and orderly. Dewey laid everything out as far as the ink, the tattoo gun and all the cleaning supplies and talked to me about what it all was and what to expect. He did my sons name on my left arm and daughters name on my right, I have now gone to see him 3 more times and am always pleased at the service and quality of work that he and Billy do!
Review Source:Dewey = The Man.
And I don't mean "The Man" like "I'm-working-for-the-man." Â I mean like "the shiznit;" "the bees knees;" "the cat's meow." Â Basically, he's awesome. Â And he runs a great tattoo studio.
This was my fourth tat, and, I must say, I am very pleased with how it turned out. Â All the lines are clean and straight, and it is healing up very nicely. Â The best part about the whole experience, though, was really the artist (Dewey). Â He was friendly and accommodating (got me in the same day that I dropped by!), and extremely professional. Â No bullshit. Â Showed me that he was opening the one-use instruments and was extremely sanitary. Â And he chatted with me while he worked, making my time there quite pleasant.
Overall: highly recommended.
I've been wanting to get a Medusa piercing for quite some time now and a friend of mine referred me to Empire Tattoo. Â I have quite a few tattoos and piercings so this isn't my first rodeo. The shop is rad! It's very clean it has very chill atmosphere and the staff makes you feel very comfortable. Â I got pierced by London Hernandez and he did an amazing job! He was very professional and didn't make me nervous at all. It was a very quick clean process. He definitely knows what hes doing and will answer any questions or concerns. If you're looking for a great place/ fun experience to get at tattoo or piercing then look no further cause this is the place to be!
Review Source:This is as honest as it gets. My friend and I went it for our first tattoos today- nothing big, just something small and simple. We were both still very nervous though! Dewey greeted us as we walked in and really calmed us down about it. He went on to explain each step he was doing on me and didn't leave out anything. He was extremely patient and answered all of our questions. It was VERY clean in the shop itself and everything he used was wrapped with new protective material for both our tattoos. He did all the prepping in front of us and didn't hide anything which was very comforting. I couldn't recommend this shop more. Chill atmosphere, great service and we both had a wonderful first tattoo experience. Will definitely be back!
Review Source:Went in for my fourth tattoo and third visit to Empire. I got a mermaid done (in the photos) by Billy and I am completely in love with it. I can't stop looking at it. Billy did with it more than I could have imagined.
In my last review of this place, I wrote about Mikey. And even though I knew he wasn't working there anymore, I still went back because I trust the shop.
What I really liked about Billy in addition to his artwork is his attention to detail and concern for the work he's doing. He discussed colors with me; he showed me colors; he talked to me about where on my body my tattoo would look best; he always made sure on the colors we decided on before putting the needle on my skin.
Seriously a cool dude who does amazing work!
Empire is a quality tattoo shop and that's why I keep coming back! I send all my friends looking to get tattooed to Empre!
Shout out to Dewey for my awesome "side boob" or, rib cage, tatt!
After finally having an image picked for my tattoo and a sucky experience at Ink'd Chronicles in Pomona, I was on a mission to find a shop with awesome people. Â I searched yelped and found Empire.
Of course I didn't want to jump on the first shop I found right away so I let it marinate for a few weeks and then happened to see my coworker's new tattoo one night. Â Ironically, she had gotten it done at Empire AND had the same horrible experience at Chronicles. Â That sealed my fate and my next day off work, I rolled up to Empire. Â
I was introduced to Dewey and it was so nice. Â I showed him a picture on my phone of what I wanted and told him what needed to be tweeked and added and he was all down for it. Â He didn't rush me and he talked to me about it. Â Gave me color ideas and then told me to email him the picture so that he could fix it up for me and what not. Â I gave him my $40 deposit and it was official: Shit was about to go DOWN!
I had an appt for a little after the shop opened and I came nervous but so excited that my second tattoo was about to become a part of me finally. Â We sat for a bit to figure out the colors for sure and ended up with a perfect combination. Â I heard that getting a tattoo on your rib cage would hurt but mutha*^&^%$#%# that mess HURRRRT!!
After about an hour, the artwork was done, I could finally breathe, and every needle prick that shot pain through me was well worth it.
My tattoo was dedicated to breast cancer survivors, fighters, and the fallen so I wanted it done in breast cancer awareness month. Â Because of that, Dewey hooked me up with a discount. Â The price of my tatt was respectable.
So geeked for my new ink! Â More to come but I'm waiting until summer because I get hidden tattos, which means wearing less clothing to both get it done and let it heal.
Had Dewey for my last tattoo... He is amazing, I wanted a verse on my side and he helped me place it so that it would look the best. Â He gave me several options on design and the one that I picked looks great. Â The tattoo itself was smooth. Â Being on the right rib cage I expected a lot of pain, but no. Â No swelling, very little redness and a kick-a** tattoo. Â I've received so many compliments on it. Â The handwriting is beautiful and the color is a jet black. No imperfections at all. Â It healed amazingly well. Â My last tattoo scabbed up. Â This one didn't scab at all. Â My friends with a lot of tattoos told me that they've never seen one heal as well as mine. Â Fantastic place! Â Fantastic job!
Review Source:I am new to the Inland Empire area and I wanted to get a nice tattoo so I looked online and read the reviews for Empire Tattoo and how professional & clean Dewey's shop was. Prior to me setting the appointment I went to the store and notice a girl with a really nice, detailed tattoo, I asked her who did it & she said Dewey @ Empire Tattoo as I we were talking a male with some wings on his fore arm also said Dewey did his. So wit that confirmation I set an appointment, Dewey was very professional and though I was undecided on what I wanted he was patient and actually drew the stencil over after I changed my mind. Overall my tattoo came out beautiful ( a lil painful) but well worth it.
This Tattoo shop is One of a Kind and I will recommend him to anyone looking for GREAT work & a relaxed environment.
i gotta say that this is one of the most welcoming tatttoo shop i've been... Dewey is a great artist and a great guy, i showed him the tattoo i wanna get, which i draw anyways. I was suprised for the compliment, most tattoo artist i showed it to was saying since it's custom it's gonna take 2-3 hours to make and it will cost alot. When i showed it to Dewey, first thing he said that the art was pretty good. First tattoo artist i got a compliment for my drawing. So anyways the tattoo didn't even took an hour to finish and the outcome was great, he suggested to add highlights to it to make it stand out more and it turned out to be great, i had a bad experience with colors, but Dewey did a great job. Don't even waste your time trying to look around shops, just go straight to this place and you wont be disappointed
Review Source:I went yesterday for my second tattoo...this one on my wrist... i was a little aprehensive, because i heard that the wrist can be painful. Dewey was amazing and went slow listening to how I wanted my tattoo... i could have not been more comfortable and more relaxed. i did not feel any pain and he spent extra time going over all the steralization and the after care instructions... i have already recommended others and will be going back soon for my next tattoo... awesome!
Review Source:I was lucky to get a walk in appointment, and was quickly helped by a great tattoo artist. It was my first tattoo, and Mike did better work than I had imagined. Truly a professional shop, and with very fair prices.
More importantly, the art work is far superior to other shops in the same price range (check the online portfolios). Over all a great tattoo experience, I will be returning very soon.
Came here last Sunday for my Mother-in-law's very first Tattoo (at 53).
Dewey is as sweet as when I first met him. Â He remembered me from last time(s).
Very patient, explained everything to MIL (Over and Over).
Gentle hand, created the cutest ladybug and daisy tattoo! (Dewey, you rock!)
She was making herself spaz so hard, Dewey was able to calm her down.. and Voila! She didn't even feel a thing.. her Dentist hurt 1,000 times worse.
I admit.. it is a drive for me to go to Upland, but no where else have I felt welcomed, well educated and cared for than here at Empire.
Also, they remolded the place, really spacious and beautiful.
I'll be coming here soon to get a cover up piece from Dewey. Â Excited!!
we had a great experience at Empire Tattoo. Â There were 3 of us getting tattoos by John and we spent half the day with him. Â He does fabulous work!!! Â All 3 of us love our tattoos. Â John is very talented and very nice :) Â The rest of the people who work there are nice too and the place is really clean. Â I would definitely go back and would refer anybody there to get a tattoo.
Thanks John!!!!
I can say with reasonable certainty i found my tattoo artist! Dewey did an amazing job with my tattoo and it turned out way better than i could have imagined. I now have both my rib cages completely covered and i must admit that even though my first tattoo (On my right ribcage) is awesome the tattoo Dewey designed is my favorite of the two, Dewey is extremely professional and takes real pride in his work also his prices are very reasonable Dewey is the type of artist that is versatile and specializes in creating customized spectacular work, I will almost certiantly be going back for future tattoos with Dewey, just give Dewey a rough idea and he will take that idea and make it into something far better than you would have imagined. Thanks Dewey! I'm sure ill be seeing you again very soon.
Review Source:I walked in without an appointment and was immediately greeted without any bad attitudes that are so common in ink shops. I talked to Dewey and showed him the touch up work  that I wanted. He got me in right away and did a great job at a fair price. The end result looks great. He also took the time to explain proper aftercare of the tattoo. I recommend this shop.
Review Source:I got both my tattoos done by Dewey and I do not regret it one bit. He is the man to ask for. Dewey is the owner of Empire Tattoos and it's been up for about 18 years now. He is a little bit stern only because he is serious about his work and wants the best for his customers. I was a little scared of him at first though, but don't let that fool you. He is a really cool guy and will be patient with you (believe me; I was wiggling in that chair for a while). He shows you all the tools he is going to use and explained that EVERYTHING is sanitized, new, and NEVER used again. Â I wanted him to customize my tattoo and so he put in his two cents to my idea and we compromised on a tattoo that I love so much.
The prices are resonable, even cheaper than most places.
Also, I'd suggest making an appointment because the shop gets pretty booked. Walk-in are Saturdays and Sundays, but there are no guarentees that they would take you in because of the wait.
Go check it out. I am definately a life time customer.
I got my 2nd tattoo here, and I love it! Â (on my ribs) Their website has a huge gallery of their work. Â I brought in a pic of what I wanted & made an appointment for the next week. Â John texted me a picture of what he drew during the week before my appointment. Â It took about 4 hours. Â I would definitely go back.
Review Source:I had a great experience here with Dewey. This was my first tattoo, and he took my design and offered some quick tips about it before making a stencil of it. He explained everything to me, showed me what he was doing at every step, and I came away with a tattoo looking better than I'd hoped for.
I'd recommend this to anyone looking to get their first tattoo.
