Really friendly and accommodating. Went there for the first time for my 6th tattoo and they worked with the design I brought in. Was in and out quite quickly. Â Had Beth as my artist and am very pleased with my tattoo.
Accepts credit for jewelry, but need cash for tattoos. ATM is close by, though, so it's not a problem.
I've come here for three tattoos so far and each time I've gotten great customer service. Mainly I deal with Scott since I think he's the best that I've dealt with but generally everyone is always really nice when I come in. I don't think the place deserves half the bad reviews it's gotten and I have great ink to prove it.
Give it a chance for sure!
After finding Tattoo Day seemed to be the same Day as Presidents Day.
This  place smelled of cigarettes for a hundred years. The two artists seemed like we were bothering them. They don't take credit cards which seemed like a flag to me.
We decided not to go back-we didn't have cash. You know if you are going to deal with the public, friendly never hurts.I own a business here in Richmond and you just never know who you can p off. I would never recommend this place and to top it off ,this is the first bad review I have ever written.,Thank you for making me go to the length,I normally wouldn't go.You P'd me off.
I got my third tattoo here, which is much larger than the first two, and it turned out fabulous. I'm always getting compliments on it, and I just love it in general.
I had originally tried going to River City Tattoo, but they were booked for at least 2 hours, so they sent me over to Enigma; I think they said something like Enigma is part of RCT, I'm not sure.
I had to park a little bit away, on the street, which made me a little uneasy, but I guess that's the city for you. I popped into their place, and was happy with the way things looked. It wasn't dirty, and it hard vast hard wood flooring, The lobby was quite large.
I'm ashamed to say that I don't remember the name of my tattooist, but he was quite friendly, and extremely patient. I showed him the picture of what I wanted, and he was able to work with it. He tweaked it around a bit, brought parts of it out, and we were able to get it on the part of my body where I wanted it. Again, it looks fantastic.
While I was waiting, he was tweaking the picture, I was highly amused and passed the time, listening to this one moronic would-be customer who came in. I felt extremely sorry for the staff, because she couldn't understand the simplest of things. A female staffer, who was a piercer, was dealing with her first. The piercer kept explaining different earrings, and the differences in prices. What's so hard to understand that gold costs more? But I'll move on, because that doesn't really have to do with my own experience there [I learned after I used the bathroom that they sent her to Lucky 13 across the street. Those poor people!]
After the design of my tattoo was done, the tattooist led me back to his room, and got to work. I have to admit, I was a bit surprised at how long it took to complete, but one doesn't rush art. Or pain. Thankfully it didn't hurt as bad as I thought. I've heard stories from friends about how one of their friends chewed through his lip, leaving it bloody and raw from trying not to scream. I'm happy to admit that I sat still throughout the whole thing, and didn't cry out, and my lips were completely undamaged.
The price was also more than I expected, but it's quite fine. It turned out beautifully and the guy was very nice.
All in all, I would recommend this place to others.
The building is extremely dirty, the employees are rude, I don't know how this place stays in business unless it's just a front for a crack dealership.
I went there to buy a simple piece of jewelry. The store was empty except for one other person. The "employee" behind the counter was arguing with the other person because he had stolen her credit card, which she JUST had!!! So it took them about 30 minutes to even talk to me about what kind of jewelry I wanted. After another round of waiting, they gave me the wrong thing. I asked for the right piece of jewelry and they told me I was being annoying. I think it's annoying when people don't know how to do their jobs. Especially when they are thieves.
If it's that hard to sell someone a piece of jewelry, I can't even imagine letting them pierce my skin... Or even worse, let them tattoo my body. Avoid enigma at all costs! This place is bullshit, and I will never go back there.
I had my wrist tattooed here 10 years ago. The ink has already bled a bit of one side of the piece (which is small); however, the ink distribution was never very exact (i.e. some spots on the same lines have always been more grey, others more black). I forgot the person's name who worked on me, but the artist was female. In Richmond, Absolute Art and Red Dragon are really your best bets for quality work.
