Popped my first tattoo cherry. Walked in at noon with some questions and inquiries, Tommy was friendly and helpful answering them.
Gave him an image of what I wanted off my phone. A simple lotus outline about the size of my fist. Tommy fit me in before his next appointment that day and I was done in within the hour completely satisfied with the work.
I felt completely comfortable and at ease. Tommy knows what he is doing and does it well. He was also very adamant about keeping the integrity and originality of the design I wanted. The atmosphere was relaxed and chill.
First tattoo done, but defiantly not the last.
This review is split into two parts. Â The first part is 5 stars, for Tommy. Â The second part is... no stars for Vince.
I have a lot of tattoos, and I'm always on the look for a new, amazing artist. Â When I saw that Fresh Ink was doing a huge promotion, I examined every photo on their yelp, their website and facebook profile for samples of work. Â I was impressed, to say the least. Â It looked like Tati and Tommy were amazing artists, and I was excited to have work done there. Â The deal certainly appealed to me, even though I know the old expression, "A good tattoo ain't cheap, a cheap tattoo..." you know the rest.
Anyway, the first moment I walked in, I was greeted by Vince. Â I said I was interested in having work done, and that I had seen every photo they had online, so I was comfortable with whomever working on me. Â I did not know that Vince's work was not on the websites (for whatever reason). Â He grabbed on instantly and said, "I can do it." Â At this point he hadn't actually given me his name, so I wasn't sure if he was Tommy or what. Â So I went along with it, and said sure, just draw me up a sketch of the tattoo so I can see what we're dealing with and I'll put down a deposit.
It took about 10 minutes for him to draw a simple sketch. Â Then Tommy had to come over and ask him where he was going to place it, to which Vince literally said, "Umm..." and looked at him. Â Tommy had to do all the work.
I ignored my gut.  Do not ignore your gut.  Ever.  My gut was telling me to take back my cash and say  no, thank you.
This was, sadly, not the end. Â Because I was an idiot.
I was satisfied with the sample he drew, and came back for my appointment that week. Â I should have left when Vince drew on my arm with a marker and erasing it over and over again with a rough paper towel that actually started to irritate my skin. Â He didn't shave the skin (the first time I have ever seen this). Â He then said to me, "I've never done this type of tattooing before!" really excited. Â I held my breath. Â I couldn't look. Â I wanted to get up and leave, but I didn't. Â He assured me the tattoo would take 2-3 hours. Â I wanted to believe.
6 hours later, I had to miss an important appointment, and I looked down to see my new tattoo... and hated it immediately. Â Giant blobs of black, warped shapes, uneven lines, no continuity... and I sat through that for 6 hours without stopping him. Â Yeah, MY FAULT. Â My fault, I know. Â This wasn't my first time getting a tattoo. Â WHY I let him work on me, I have no idea.
I emailed Fresh Ink that night and told them I was unhappy. Â Tommy immediately set aside time for me to come in a few weeks later and offered to try and fix it. Â He did the best he could with what was already done to me, and even asked about the giant black blob. Â He spent about 3x longer on me than I expected, trying to fix a number of things wrong with the tattoo. Â He wouldn't let me tip him, though I insisted. Â He really tried to make me happy with my work. Â
Unfortunately, it's so bad that my options are to laser it off... or completely camouflage it with a solid piece around it, which is what I'm going to do. Â Probably with my main artist at another shop. Â I would go with Tommy, but I really don't want to be in the same shop with Vince.
I checked in on Fresh Ink recently, and noticed that Vince is doing a $30 an hr deal. Â I certainly didn't pay that little for my jacked up tattoo. Â Beware, guys. Â Remember that a good tattoo isn't cheap, and a cheap tattoo ISN'T GOOD.
I am very artistic person so I always have a passion getting tattoos on my body. Â I currently have a few tattoos on my body that represents about my character and my life events. Â Quite frankly, I have a few artwork done by a previous tattoo artist so I needed a touch-up ASAP. Â I asked my friends who they can refer me so they named some artist and one of them was named Tommy. Â I then found out he worked at this place called Fresh Ink Tattoos.
Tommy, the tattoo artist took care of me because I showed him my tattoos. Â He fixed the job because I needed some coloring done too! Â I have another appointment to so I can't wait for this one! Â I already mentioned to him what I need exactly so he told me to come right in!
One more thing...
Beautiful interior decor I must say for this tattoo shop called Fresh Ink Tattoos. Â I was so impressed from the shop inside because the outside looked like a mom and pop shop. Â The paintings inside the shop was absolutely beautiful! Â There was also a fish tank that caught my attention! Â OOh I must say I love fishes so big kudos to this tattoo shop.
I've had two tattoos by Tommy and he's just amazing. The first I had with him was just a quote but it took up the middle of my back and in a very unique font. Tommy was very patient in perfecting the lettering and he was not heavy-handed at all. I went back a few months after for another one and he was very helpful in helping me decide where and how it should be. I'll definitely be having more work done by him.
Review Source:Tommy was great. He squeezed me in on a walk-in, I'm not from the area so it was very sweet of him. I just needed a shade in and he manage to get done within 2 hours. And within 2 hours work he definitely helped me out by touching up on my outline done from a previous artist (which shop has closed down) like 5 years ago, the details in the after result is impeccable for the amount of time he did it in. I am VERY satisfied with the result, I will definitely come back whenever I'm in the area again. Will definitely spread the word about Tommy's shop back in the city. Shop is clean and chill btw(love it). Highly recommend Tommy! (:
Review Source:i came in here with an idea and got more then what i was expecting, in a good way!
i was a little bit concerned about how the tattoo would come out, because what i wanted might have been a little too big for my arm, but in the end it came out amazing!!  the amount of detail thats in it is just crazy,  it took two sessions for my tatt to be completed, after my 1st session, i couldn't wait for the 2nd session to come! Tommy's  an awesome artist and is very creative, ill be back for my next tatt, as soon as i figure out what i want to get!
Great job and better pricing than other neighboring shops for quality tattoos. Very happy with my work.. Tommy helped me fix another shops ugly mistake!.. Couldnt be happier and I definitely recommend this place!! Clean shop, great service and no wait. lOVE.... Definitely will be back to My new fav shop :)
Review Source:I was recommended to this place by a buddy of mine and definitely will be coming back. Such a great atmosphere and clean shop. Tommy is a brilliant tattoo artist and it shows through his work.
I had a whole back piece outlined and he did it free hand. I was incredibly happy with the outcome. Definitely coming back when it heals up. He made sure I was comfortable and the session lasted 5 hours.
He worked efficiently and we took a couple of breaks when he realized I was getting tired. He knows what he's doing and will work with you to make sure you're comfortable.
Great shop and a great guy. Highly recommended!
