So I had been thinking about getting this piercing almost 2 years but had been putting it off. Then I realized if I was going to get it, I should bite the bullet and get it done before my birthday.
I was apprehensive mostly because it was in a private place. Rob was a total professional and the placement was dead on where I had hoped it would be.
It looks great, the pain was surprisingly minimal, and it has been healing quickly. If I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have waited so long!
Glenn's in Carrboro is a small shop in a cool little neighborhood. I have been a few times to hang out while my beau got a leg piece and also to get a surprise touch up on my tramp stamp as an anniversary gift.
Paulie tattooed both of us and I gotta say, he is basically the John Wayne of tattooing. He shoots straight from the hip, nary a bit of guile, nary a mincing of words. He is efficient and careful. All of the work I have seen from him is excellent and I definitely will go to him for any tattoo work that might come up while I am in the area. He even called me "kitten" before he started working on me.*
I also really appreciate the slow banter of the other shop dudes, Max and Robert are both super nice and were kind enough to put on Black Sabbath for me while I was getting ye olden tramp stamp worked on. I am especially impressed with the patient way that the staff handles all of the young college kids that come tumbling in giggling and looking for team initials or various body parts pierced.
I have been in a lot of tattoo shops and am blessed with a lot of tattooing pals, so I can honestly say that these guys are the real deal. Give them your business.
*Results not typical so don't go in there expecting to be called "kitten", aight?
I got my first tattoo at Glenn's in Carborro in early 2011. Both the tattoo artist (Paulie) and piercer (Robert) were so friendly, helpful, and totally calmed my fears about my first tattoo-- not to mention the fact that it turned out even better than I could have imagined! I was in town visiting from Chicago, but would definitely return if I lived in the area.
Review Source:I got my first ever tattoo at Glenn's and I'll be going back for more.
I've had numerous ear piercings and have been wanting to get a tattoo for a long time. The price was too good to pass up and the artwork was exceptional. I went in one night for a quote and Paulie let me know what could go wrong with my idea, showing examples on himself, saving me money in the long run. Â
I went back with my fiance and we got them together. Paulie was super nice and talked with us throughout the whole thing about movies and music and it really helped.
A++ would ink again
Well, I am not totally thrilled with my tattoo. Â This was my fifth tat but the first time going to this establishment. Â It's not hideous or an eyesore but it's lacking finesse and some of the finer detail and texture I have on my other ones.
The artist was nice though and seemed to understand my aesthetic but when I looked at it closely it was incomplete in places and overall the job seemed rushed. Â The bones are there for a cool tat it is a good start but I will be going somewhere else to complete it and until then it will be a "work in progress".
I do not have a tattoo and I thank heavens for that -- only because I was hell-bent, at the wise age of 19, on getting one; and it was going to be a dolphin on the small of my back. :shudders: I do, however, have a body piercing. Don't raise those eyebrows. It's nothing wild and crazy! At one point the hoop had a ball that was blacklight activated. (I can't believe I'm divulging this.) Anyway, it had a special coating on it that made it prone to fall out. The guys at Glenn's were super-cool and would fit it back in free of charge, and in a nice private room that was not at all seedy like the place where I had the actual piercing done (serves me right for getting pierced in Myrtle Beach). When I finally got sick of that routine, I had them swap it out for a smaller ring and a steel-colored ball -- it's the set I still wear today! Thanks, Glenn!
Review Source:I just got my first tattoo over at Glenn's. It was a pretty simple tattoo, just an outline, only took about 4 minutes, but Aaron, the tattoo artist, made me feel very comfortable, was really friendly, relaxed and knowledgeable, and did a great job. I felt confident that it was a trustworthy, clean salon when I watched him prepare the equipment for the tattoo.
Review Source:Glenn's Tattoo has extremely personal service. The shop isn't profit oriented, thus prices are extremely reasonable. Aaron did my tattoo and was extremely professional and friendly. He gave great after care instructions to make sure nothing went wrong, and I was impressed by how clean the shop was. They walk through the entire process and offer several ideas for designing your tattoo.
Review Source:Glenn's is a small shop in Carrboro, very close to Carrborito's. Â They offer excellent tattoo and piercing services. Â You can sit and peruse the tattoo magazines while you wait or chat with the other folks there. Â The staff is highly skilled and professional, this is a clean environment to get a tattoo; if you desire.
