I got my very first Peircing there when I was 14 back in 2004. It was my eye brow. It rejected completely and left a nice scar. I since then have had many other piercings  and now one complication. Not sure how closely related this is but be sure to watch them and make sure it's sterile technique. Good customer service skills though :)
Review Source:The Yelp says it just does Body Piercing, that is so not the CASE!
1. Salon ((Get your hair done!!))
2. Body Piercing ((Duh like the name says))
3. Tattoos. ((Amazing artist))
The salon is kinda hidden in the back of the shop not seen from front. They have a nice area where you have some privacy while you get your pretty on.
They added in the front 2 new tattoo stations and its killer!
What really caught my eye about here was the fact they it is kept really clean, has a nice look inside, as well as neat decor that catches you into the moment and what their name says.
I started going there, because their is a new artist that works there, and how i found this hidden gem on race street.
I can't wait to use the other services that they have to offer.
Eduardo is a 5 star guy!
I had a very good experience here. I came in to get a dermal anchor removed & Eduardo was very gentle with me. Being that the dermal was on my finger, a major ouch spot he removed it quickly!
I do have to say he's very easy going & has a super chill vibe & I felt instantly at ease with him. He's a genuinely nice person & it shows in his work.
A must go to for any piercing needs, hands down. **One person doesn't get this many 5-stars no reason. SEEEEE HIM!
Eduardo Is The Best Piercer Ever ! Got 4 Dermals Done By Him And iLove Them All ! He Was Super Fast And Always Makes You Feel Hella Comfortable When Your Getting Pierced. Before Him I Did All My Own Piercings But After Coming Here iWouldnt Trust Anyone Else But Him ! Great Customer Service I Recommend Eduardo To All,My Friends Who Wanna Get Pierced Up ;)
Review Source:Im super happy with the piercings I just got from Eddy. It was exactly what I wanted. He was super nice and good at what he does. When I got my ears pierced, He did it so perfect that I didnt even bleed at all. Â I would suggest Eddy to any one of my friends looking to get pierced.
Also what's cool about the shop is that it's also a tattoo shop.
This place was suppose to be really good. I took my girlfriend there and got her a nose piercing...a tiny stud was installed....it got infected and fell off. She cleaned it regularly and followed all of their instructions. Yeah they were professionals and took forever. But the piercing didnt last and I wasted 60 bucks. My advice is to make sure you get a large nose stud so it doesnt fall off if you do a nose piercing.
Review Source:The one star is for the new piercer Eduardo, not the actual Gothic salon.
I came here about a week and a half ago to get my nipples pierced.
Got them done...hurt pretty bad...but was just super excited that i got them done to notice how crooked the right one was.
I started noticing that the one that was crooked hurt more, bled more, and was healing significantly slower than the other one.
I got them done on thurs.
By Sun i couldnt take the pain any more...so i went to another piercer just to get his opinion (Adrian at Bulldogs on Capitol)
He said it was pierced horribly and that i needed to take it out because it would not heal right, and if it swelled any more than the balls could actually go inside of my nipple EW SCARY!
So i had him take it out. I called Gothic on sunday left a message.
Never heard back from anyone so i called back on tuesday...
The owner said the piercer would not be in til later that day (i had work i couldt go) The piercer called me Wed. and said he would not be in on Thurs. that i could come i on Friday....I didnt come in until saturday.
So i walk in the piercing room where he started putting on gloves...HAHAHAHA YA RIGHT LIKE UR PIERCING ME AGIAN
I told him i was sorry for being difficult, but he is the one who pierced me wrong so i thought i should get a refund.
He seemed shocked that i wasnted a refund saying "I have never in my life refunded a piercing"
Ok well u messed me up SOOO UHHH?!?!?!!?!?
He proceeded to be kind of an ass hole
i told him i wanted to talk to the owner
the owner gave me a refund :)
O && the piercer tried to tell me it would have healed fine and nothing bad would have happened to it if i left it in
IT WAS NOT SLIGHLY CROOKED....IT WAS DUSGUSTINGLY CROOKED
ANYWAYS DONT GO TO GOTHIC FOR PIERCINGS, HES A JERK AND HE DOESNT KNOW HOW TO PIERCE STRAIGHT.
O AND THEN HE LIES TO U AND SAYS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN FINE
I paid 80 bucks for this sh**.....why would i waste so much money if i wanted it to look so horrible!?!?!?
Yup! Went back to have my piercing re-done. This time, there was no other employees inside as Eddie (the piercer) was the only one, waiting for me to come in. I don't blame him, it was about 5:30PM and business was slow...And yea, I received my "un-deserved" welcoming this time BWAHAHAHA!
What a friendly person Eddie is!!! This time, my piercing hurt wayyyy more and more tears definitely poured out...maybe because I have more nerve endings on the lower section of my nose. This time, it was quick, but oh man, hurt 10X's more!!!
I do recommend Eddie to be your next piercer, but do be warned when you ask about how your placement looks ;). Nothing is "perfect"...
I love Gothic, absolutely love it. I got my snake bites here, my nose, belly button, industrial and have changed all my piercings here and I've gotten my hair done here a few times as well and have never been disappointed. I love Eddie he is awesome and he will no longer be working there as of the 10th which saddens me. My mom loves him too she even went to get her nose pierced just because she knew he was leaving for medical school. Art and Eddie are just so friendly and talkative you can't help but like them. They have such good prices and I have gotten so many discounts off all the jewelry I've gotten there. I'm constantly losing my lip rings cause i accidently drop the balls lol and I have a super small lip so Eddie was great when he fitted them to my lip. I highly recommend it here I won't go anywhere else. I've never got an infection and everytime I thought something was wrong or my mom did(she also got her belly button here) we were able to go back and get it fixed for free =) and I so love the unusual deco
Review Source:I got my cartilage pierced here a while ago by Eddie. Â I think I was 16? at the time and totally forgot that to get pieced you gotta be 18. Â They didn't card me. Â but when me and my friend came back so she could get her bellybutton pieced, they carded her. Â She was a minor at the time, but he gave her a discount, and told her to come back when she was 18. Â The salon is small. Â They have a small selection of jewelry. Â Nice people work here (don't let the gargoyles scare ya).
Review Source:Eddie seems to be hit and miss as far as good piercings go. I've had a re-pierced labret done by him which healed really well (best I've ever had, in fact), an industrial which formed four keloids and had to be removed, and he stretched my ears to a 2 gauge. I usually go to Monsters of Rock on Blossom Hill to have my ears stretched, it's cheap and the guy who does it is really, really good at it. (Almost no pain whatsoever) Eddie stretched my ears and it was a fairly excruciating experience, I'm not really sure why, but he was slow and kept dropping things. As far as my industrial went - it was an extremely painful piercing made worse by the fact that Eddie kept chatting with my friend the entire time rather than paying attention to what he was doing. The prices are okay, not as expensive as Pierced Out but not exactly cheap, either.
The building itself is nice, everything is clean and sterile as far as I can tell.
I walked in the place was nice and clean, and I was talked to right away about the piercing I wanted.
I got both my nipple pierced here at the same time for the cheap price of 80 bucks with awesome jewelry (if I went to Pierced Out it would have been 100 bucks for the same thing O_O)
Anyways the piercing took place in a separate room than entrance (o yeah it's a salon too ^__^ even though it says it for the title on Yelp but outside it just says GOTHIC . anyways the room was nice and clean and the piercing barely hurt and it seemed like he it so that the
piercing would bleed (i've seen some peeps get  nipple piercing and those bled O_O) mine didn't at all and it was painless :D
UPDATE= 04/09/2011 GUESS WHAT MY BOTH MY NIPPLES ARE STILL AROUND. :) still perfect as when I got them.
This review is from back in 2000. Â After my cousin got her tongue pierced here she referred me to this place to get mine. Â The guy that pierced me at the time was very informative and gentle. Â He explained everything as he did it so I wasnt scared or that nervous. Â I was very happy with the piercing after wards and they gave me lots of info on cleaning and caring for the piercing.
Review Source:I got my belly button pierced today and it was a pleasant experience. I was really scared/nervous beforehand-- i was even shaking! haha but Eddie joked around and made me feel comfortable. All the tools he used were new, I saw him take them out of the package. Oh, they also had a wide selection of rings in an assortment of colors-- yay! The whole piercing went by really fast, it was over before I knew it and it was just slightly more painful than a pinch.
I also had two cartilage piercings done here over a year ago and everything went great as well.
Gothic is a good place to get pierced! I highly recommend. =]
Since the last time I went to Gothic they moved locations so be sure to keep your eye out for the store or you'll drive right pass it!
Gothic is awesome.....I have been coming here since I was 17, its been 6 years and I have not had a bad experience. Â
The shop itself has great statues, like gargoyles, gaudy art pieces, and just as the name states...it's Gothic, literally. Â The owner Art is amazing, he makes you feel super comfortable and does exactly what you want with your hair. Â He's funny and has a great outgoing personality. Â I feel at home there, I did kinda grew up in that salon (not literally, but figuratively speaking). Â I have always had compliments on my hair color and cut, if you are daring and love color, this is the place to go. Â I used to have different colored highlights, from purple to pink, they do it all. Â They are also great at cutting bangs as well as sophisticated looks. Â Very versatile.
Eddie the assistant/ piercing guru is so honest and does a great job with piercing. Â I have gotten almost all my piercings there: my nose, eyebrow, tounge, industrial, lip, etc and he warns you that there is a possibility for infection if you don't follow the instructions.
Overall, this is my favorite salon/ body piercing store. Â My mom and I have been very loyal to this place and vice versa. Â Everyone has there own opinion on this place, but from experience I love Gothic....So check it out sometime and you'll fall in love with the shop, the employees, and the work they do. Â Once you become a regular, you are instantly treated like family.
I've only gotten one piercing here & it was at their old Campbell ave. location almost 6 years ago, when I was 13. It was my first facial piercing (of the four that I have now) - the left side of my nose. It went well. No problems. But it was slightly crooked. Six years later, however, I still have it & I love it. I pick up jewelry from Gothic sometimes still, but their selection is very limited.
I have heard that they don't card very often & frequently pierce minors without parental permission.
2.5 -3 stars
I got my belly button pierced here when I was 17. The guy didn't even bother to ask for my id. whatever, that worked out for me back then when I was 17. In other news, I swear this place is closed. I walked by there a month or so ago and could have sworn I saw that the place had closed down. Hmm...I'll check it again and get back to ya'll. Oh, I did go back to get the cartilage pierced here and it wasn't so bad. Hurt like a bitch..but I heard thats suppose to hurt anyway...or maybe I am just a wuss. I personally prefer Pierced Out.
I loved my horizontal tongue piercing and I KNOW i could trust Eddie with my tongue piercing because he did his brothers and mine once before and it was fine.
But i had to take it out because my parents didn't know about it and I had to go to a dinner with them and I was scared that i would get caught.
So Today, I took a friend Tracy to go get it done again.
We both got ours done and we are very pleased with the result.
The healing process of the piercing is generally up to the one who takes care of it, not the person who pierces.
The new facility was really clean, all jewelry and equipment were wrapped individually in a sterilized pouch and he never used the same utensil again, which is the way it should be.
Trust me, I've gotten many many non-ear piercings and surface piercings and today's experience was by FAR the best.
Tracy, who had never gotten her tongue pierced before was carefully informed about the after-care of the piercing and was even suggested a follow up just to check how it was doing.
Honest this place scared me at first
my sister and I got our belly buttons pierced here with my mom when I was 15 (about 3 years ago)
The staff was nice and when I got into the chair the guy (who I have to say was very hot) tried to get me laughing to clam my nerves. I got a lovely pink naval ring and although it did get infected a couple months along the road, i don't blame them at all.
Its very centered and perfectly straight.
Disclaimer: This is a review for July of 1999. I have not been there since.
That being said, I got my belly button done here by a guy named Albert, and it was done beautifully. I was 17, but had my parent's permission. My piercing was completely centered, did not get infected, and is in great shape. When I go to Body Exotic to get rings changed, as I am a wuss and cannot do it myself, they always comment on how nicely my belly is done. I tell them I got it done at Gothic, and they look shocked.
Would I go there again? Probably not, because I have no intentions on getting anything else pierced. Would I recommend it? I dunno--if Albert was still there, yeah. Did they pierce me without my parents there, even though I had their permission? Yeah, and while I know now that's not cool, it was pretty awesome at the time!
I'd give the place 5 stars for my experience, but 4 since it was so long ago.
I can't believe this place is still in business.
Im so disappointed and can only assume that its actually just a front for a money laundering operation.
I cant even begin to tell you how much this place sucks, but i sure will try.
I got an 'industrial' there. This is a piercing that cannot work for everyone- its a metal bar that gos diagionally across the top of your ear-so if that center (i dont know what its called) part of your ear sticks out more than the bar across will (imagine trying to lay a flat peice of wood over a big rock and have the 2 ends of the wood touch the ground) you are in for a future of agonizing pain while the now infected jewelry slowly tears itself out of your ear.
Now, go ahead and ask me how I know this.
All this and I was treated like shit by a egotistical, whiny, annoying asshole.
Its not clean, its not sterile, its not professional.
i got all my piercings here when i was younger and no they didn't check my id and i was only 16. Â art has always been a jerk. hey dude you are taking our money at least you can try and be nice. i had my tounge, industrial, and lip done here. my industrial developed some small bump in the back of my ear so i had to take it off. $80 bucks down the drain. if anyone knows of any good piercing places please let me know. i need to get back on my piercing lol.
Review Source:I've been going here for about 8-9 years to get my hair colored and cut. I've never had a piercing here, so I can't speak to that experience.
However, I do know that no matter how Art and Eddie color, cut and style my hair, I'm always getting tons of compliments. And my cut is always just a month or two ahead of what hits the magazines/celebrities. I think they're gifted in knowing what will look best on me and what will be modern and stylish without being "trendy."
Maybe it's because I've been going there for so long, but I've always found Art to be funny, warm and kind. And Eddie is a complete sweetheart. I really look forward to seeing them every time I drive down there.
Eddie did my hair for my wedding and three of my bridesmaids' hairdos, too... and he didn't charge an arm and a leg, as some other hairstylists would have. Plus, on my hair, he used temporary extensions that stayed in for the entire night, with no budging whatsoever. (By the way, the hairstyles weren't "gothic" at all... very classic and beautiful... and my friends - and mom - were thrilled!)
If you don't give them any insane requests (dye my blue-black hair blonde!) and trust your coif to be put in their very capable hands, I can wholeheartedly recommend Art and Eddie.
Okay, critical thinking time here folks.
I have to admit, all the folks that complained about their piercing experiences thus far seem unjustified in the ratings they're giving this establishment. If you almost passed out because you got a piercing you asked for, that's not the fault of the shop, it just means you're being a big pansy. Nor is a piercing getting infected TWO MONTHS after you got it -- I mean, really, isn't there the off chance that in the period of 60 days that maybe, just maybe, you did something to it that caused it to get infected? If it got infected a day or two after, then I can see the connection, but if it were the fault of piercer, it should have been soon after.
That said, I think Gothic is a decent place to get an atypical hairstyle or coloring done, but I also agree that the main stylist there is pretty stoic and aloof, and it does make the experience uncomfortable. The last time I had some colored highlights put in, it felt like the two stylists were attacking me with their combs, aggressively yanking on my hair while it was wet, and twisting it around. They need to be a little more gentle and a little less of a Drive Through Haircut establishment.
However, the assistant to the main stylist is actually a pretty nice guy, and the main stylist could use some of his tact.
They get an extra star because in an emergency haircut situation (IE: getting a bad haircut somewhere else) they'll accomodate you if you are polite and panicked.
I used to frequent Gothic because their prices are fairly reasonable. However, I had my hair highlighted there and my hair began to fall off. I went back to show Art, (the head stylist/owner) who did it and he basically blew me off and said I need extensions, in a "too bad, so sad" tone of voice. He did not offer to do them for me free or discounted. I went to get my extensions done elsewhere which cost me $300. My hair was ruined and there was no apology given when I showed him what he had done. Also, he has no personality and is so quiet when he cuts your hair. It is pretty uncomfortable. It is like pulling teeth to make conversation with him, so I would take my business to a more welcoming environment if I were you!
Review Source:LOVE IT!!!! Best salon I ever went to and that says a lot because I'm 46 years old.  He was able to hook me up with a product called CROME that you can't get anywhere else. It makes my hair so shiny and silky like a young adult (the manufactures of Chrome have done something to make it smell like yuck so it is no longer available at Gothic.).  Plus the hair straightening device he showed me Rocks not like the crap at the malls.(the ones at the mall do not have temperature adjustment-don't buy!)  I'm reading some of these terrible reviews and all I have to say is...GOTHIC = dark, BODY Piercings  = HURT/Pain if you are squeamish don't get one. Infections are caused by poor hygiene. Teenagers can pierce themselves with a needle, don't blame Gothic. Bleaching your hair will kill it and dry it out. Extensions are NOT free anywhere. Try ION's Toner to restore its color and vitality. ALSO try Emergency by Nexxus, before you bleach or color and after. THANKS GOTHIC
Review Source:I definitely learned my lesson.
So, when I turned 18 and cashed in on birthday money, I decided to spend it on the industrial I had wanted for all of about 2 months (I knew my mom wouldn't go for a tattoo, but if I told her "I'm getting my ear pierced" she'd approve, and I wouldn't exactly be lying).
It didn't hurt all that bad, and the guy appeared to know what he was doing. Â He even humored me and told me that on a pain scale, it was about an eight. Â After it was done, he told me, "Yeah, that's probably about the most painful thing you can get done." Â He also took great measures to make sure I was feeling OK and that I didn't pass out, and told me to take an Advil as soon as I got home because it's common to get a headache after getting a piercing like that.
My mom wasn't all that upset. Â She asked where I got it done, and I told her. Â "Oh, OK," she said with a pleasantly surprised ring to her voice. Â "That place has been there forever, I'm sure it's fine." Â She also works for the city, so she can't really trash it.
Later on I began to change my mind. Â When people asked me where I got it done, I told them "Gothic". Â And then they made a face. Â They all made the same face. Â The one that says, "I'm truly grossed out/surprised but I'm not going to say anything." Â I got a sinking feeling that I had made a bad decision.
Then two months later it got infected.
REALLY infected.
Overnight, this huge lump developed on one side that seemed to get bigger by the hour, and by the end of that day looked like it was trying to eat the ball at the end of the barbell. Â I wasn't really sure of what to do, so I went on cleaning it as usual, and drove home from San Francisco that week to talk to the piercer to see if he knew what was up.
He gave me some seriously suspicious advice, advice that involved crushing up aspirin and making a paste with water and spreading it over the blob.
The next morning I began the procedure, and as soon as the Q-tip touched it it began to bleed, and it didn't stop. Â I ran to the Student Health Center and the doctor took it out and gave me antibiotics.
And that's the story of my industrial. Â Looking back, I feel dirty. Â That place was a total dump. Â That's OK for a store, not OK for anywhere bloodletting takes place. Â I am also incredibly disappointed/creeped out to hear from other Yelper that they allegedly pierce underage kids. I need a shower now.
I got my first piercing here when I was 16. It was only my nose but I went back for nipple, belly button, and my daughters ears.
Back then they didn't check ID or anything. I heard they got into BIG trouble for piercing 14 yo genitalia. Even other places that pierce minors will not do that.
When I had my daughters ears pierced (at 6 months) they did both at the same time. I was also told they needed to do them higher, because as she aged, the hole would travel down the ear lobe. Nope. She's 13 now and her hole is right next to the top of her ear lobe. I'm not sure if we'll get it repierced or just leave it.
And dude, it's a hair salon. That can't be sanitary.
