I hired Tejal for my girlfriend's bridal shower in San Diego and I could not be happier with her services! She was professional from our very first call, explaining the process to expect regarding the contract. The day of the event, she showed up early with plenty of time to setup and brought bindis tp purchase as I had requested, which added a nice touch. Her friendly and approachable demanor made everyone relaxed when (for most) getting henna for their first time. All 11 ladies were thrilled with their uniquely desired designs and it was a momentum we all got to carry days beyond the event.
I highly recommend henna to add something special for bridal showers and especially Tejal, as her spirit added to our intimate affair.
After reading through all the great reviews, I reached out to Tejal through her website to have henna done for an upcoming family wedding. Â She responded quickly and I made an appointment to visit her home in Rancho Penasquitos. Â She later emailed me to change the time saying that an earlier appointment might run late, which was totally fine.
When I arrived at Tejal's home, I didn't find her to be friendly or welcoming. Â She showed me a book of henna designs to choose from, but I wasn't able to find anything that I liked. Â I referenced a few photos on her website but she was unwilling to replicate those designs and said that she couldn't remember how those were done. Â
I indicated that I wanted the henna up to the mid-forearm region. Â She quickly applied the henna down to my palm and started cleaning up. Â Uh ok. Â After all the back and forth about the design, she ended up deviating way too much from what I chose. Â In addition she applied the henna in such thick lines that it did not come out well.
It was clear that she was in a rush and had somewhere else to be (her friend was even waiting for her outside as I left), which I find odd given that she changed the appt time to meet her schedule. Â Furthermore, she gave me no after care instructions.
Unfortunately Henna San Diego is pretty much the only game in town. Maybe they only pull out all the stops for bridal henna or large groups. Â In the future, and for my own bridal henna, I would hire a henna artist from LA.
We had Tejal do the henna for our wedding in April. She was able to accommodate our many changes without hesitation. Initially, we had just wanted henna done for me and my wife, but she was able to change that at the last minute and create her beautiful work for several people at our rehearsal dinner. We had been quoted a certain price per person, but after Tejal saw how many of our guests wanted to participate, she offered to change the pricing to the pricing for a mehndi party. I was very impressed with this because it saved us money! Class act, beautiful work, and all of our families loved her! Would definitely recommend that you hire Tejal for any henna needs you might have!

I live in Iowa, it is hard to plan a wedding and even more so when one does not live in the area. My maid of honor stumbled on Tejal's website, it is beautiful and one can tell how passionate she is about her Work. We kept in touch for more than six months, Tejal asked me in advance what patterns I liked, what would work for the bride maids. She drove one hour each way to meet us at the hotel we were staying in Temecula. She is not only very fast at her work  but she is also a lot of fun to work with. The pattern looking beautiful, rich and dark in color. I got so many compliments. If you are looking to get henna done in and around San Diego County, you have the right person.

Review Source:Tejal did my bridal mehndi last month and it was beautiful. Â She met with me a few weeks before so I could pick out my design, and she was very punctual and professional. Â She works efficiently and finished the work very quickly (which is important when you have to sit for so long!). Â More than once, I accidentally smudged the mendhi and she immediately fixed it. Â The mendhi lasted for quite a long time. Â Highly recommended!

She was even willing to have a little fun with our designs and put the wives names on the arms of the husbands!! I recommend her to everyone. She is able to do simple to very complex designs!! The design were awesome and color was super dark. .
Tejal was really good - we spent a lot of time just figuring out my design weeks before the wedding and then on the day of my mehendi she was on time with the design I wanted. She was quick, efficient and very professional and her work is just gorgeous! It took her 5 hours to do my hands and feet and it was totally worth it. The color came out rich and dark less than 2 days later just as she had promised and it stayed for a week
Her assistant who came to do mehendi for my friends and family was ok - she seemed to only know how to do the strips of mehendi and she wasn't too comfortable talking in english which was a problem since nobody could communicate what they wanted with her
Overall I would recommend Tejal to anyone who wants gorgeous mehendi for their wedding

Had Tejal schedule a semi-mother's blessing way. Tejal was very accommodating with the schedule. She was very easy to talk to and friendly to all of my guests. MOST IMPORTANTLY: she's very talent and *amazing* of what she does. Her intricate designs matched each person's personality - she told me she feels the person's energy and lets her hand do all the work. Simply amazing!
I worked with Henna San Diego for my wedding a couple months ago and they were professional, flexible and produced great art work.
The entire staff was early for each event and were willing to stay later without any questions. Â Not to mention, they are very reasonably priced relative to a lot of other Henna artists in the SoCal area.

Well, the day of my daughters birthday party, I was scheduled to have Alberto, Tejal's assistant, to come out at 1:30-3:30 & there was a little confusion as to what time he was suppose to come and Alberto ulitmately showed up an hour late :-(. However,  Alberto did a great job with the kids, and they loved it.  I may give Henna San Diego another try as well as recommendations.  Hopefully my next review is a 5 star review. We have darker skin and I've seen the henna show up much better and was left on for no more than 5 minutes  vs the time that the henna paste was left on at my daughters birthday party.

I'm so sad to see that one star review. Because Tejal is super gifted and so sweet to work with. After seeing her website last year, I called her up and told her that I had to book her for my July 2nd wedding before anyone else snatches her. She came over on last Thursday and sat with me for 5 and a half hours applying the most beautiful mehndi design freehand. It looked so fabulous when done and it still looks fabulous now. Initially, when we took the dried mehndi off, the red wasn't dark enough. So I called her and she immediately picked up the phone and told me what to do to get it to look dark. I had really red dark hands for my wedding and was in total bliss. I highly highly recommend Tejal.

Â There were 20 guests at the party - age range was 8 to 78 - and everyone LOVED having their henna done. Â In two hours she did at least 25 designs. One of my best friends was getting married and she had Tejal Shah at the Sangeet. There must have been about 100+ women waiting in line for Tejal's henna services. Good thing I was in the wedding party! I got a front of the line pass!
Tejal was great, very polite, professional and kept the women in order. No cutsies people! I only had the back of both my hands done with the henna and it only took Tejal 10 minutes to work her masterpiece.

Found Tejal Shah on a henna website that came up in a Google search. The link led me to a very professional website with examples of her stunning work. I'm thrilled to have found her! She's been doing henna for 10 years and it shows. I arrived at her house in Rancho Penasquitos, she helped me choose a simple traditional design for my ankle, and she was done in less than 15 minutes...and it looked incredible! I'm going back for more as soon as this one wears off. I might be hooked...
