Steve is so great. I wasn't 100% sure what I wanted my piece to look like, but he helped to talk me through it and designed a custom tattoo that fits my personality and my arm perfectly. I will definitely be going back to him for some more work in the near future. I only gave 4 stars not because of Steve, but because of the shop itself. There are much nicer and more updated shops out there, but I suppose this one got the job done. They were playing some antique car renovations show on TLC on the flat screen tv. Now this may have been fine. If it were a shop full of men. But the only people in the whole place were 3 staff members (including a manager who I'm not sure of his purpose..) and me and one of my other girly girlfriends. Anyway, Steve is great! I would highly recommend! Thanks Steve! :D
Review Source:Steve-o just did mine and my boyfriends first tattoos.I have never experienced such great customer service. from the moment I walked into this place I felt comfortable. the whole experience felt like we were just hanging out with some friends. the guys are all down to earth and really have a passion for what they are doing. they truly care for the clients and will go out of their way to make you feel welcome and relaxed. the place is clean, full of unique art, and killer artists. Â does it get more perfect? can't forget to mention how awesome my tree came out, the lines are clean, shading is fantastic, it's unreal
Review Source:After a very disheartening search for a non-judgmental, non-self-righteous, supportive tattoo artist, I found Jeremy at Infamous Ink. He is fantastic! Professional, kind, non-judgy, and magic with a needle. I would recommend him for first timers and ink veterans alike! I'll definitely get any future tattoos here.
Review Source:Normally I don't write reviews, but I had to on this one! I finally had the courage to get the tattoo I had so long waited for but didn't know where to go, on a count I had 2 already. I surely did not want to go back to those place, first pricing was changed at the end and the artist weren't too welcoming and a bit intimidating. So I came on Yelp to find a shop after reading the reviews I gave this shop a try. I had read a could post that stated Jeremy was very nice and had light hands so it wasn't too painful.
As I walked in I was greeted and asked what brought me in. I right away got a good vibe from the greeted And Jeremy, after I explained what I wanted he go to work right on the spot! Jeremy right away started to make conversation and told me I was doing good and he was almost done, which I never got before. After he was done, which too me was rather quickly he asked how many did I have bc it seemed I had ton they way I sat thru this one. Once we were done I walked out with a hand shake and all!! :O I never got that even when I have gone with friends for their tattoos.
2 weeks later I was back looking for Jeremy for another project! Again he gave me the same service although I complained a little this time. But once we got to talking I learned a lot of him Nd that he is the owner as well. That day I walked out with an extra ink than I had went in for. Loved his work and I knew I wouldn't go any where else so why not! Don't have plans for more now but in the future I know now where I will and refer ppl.
My boyfriend and I came here for out first tattoos. Of course, we both were VERY nervous. So nervous, we went to go eat before we went here and couldn't finish our food because our nerves got to us.
Anyway, Josh was picked to do our tattoos because the first time I met him he was very kind and I liked his work a lot.
When the day came for our tattoos, I explained to him that in the past I have fainted many times. He said no worries and he would take it slow and check up on me during the tattoo. That is exactly what he did! He kept asking me how I was doing and that he was almost done. It really made me comfortable. I only got a small quote on my shoulderblade, but still. It was my first tattoo lol.
Afterwards, it was my boyfriend's turn. He got a lion tattoo on his arm and Josh did a great job.
Once I have the money, I will for sure go back here!
I don't typically write reviews...or get tattooed for that matter. But my experience here was so fantastic I figured, someone ought to hear about it.
First of all I called to see if there were any openings available appointment at 1140 at night on a Saturday!! I was promptly answered and welcomed to come on in. Which was so thrilling except for then I had to drive almost an hour to get there.
Can I just say that it was completely worth it!!! My boyfriend and I got matching tattoos Steven and Josh both drew up a design for us to choose from and let us customize size variation and other random details.
the guys were quick, thorough, but most importantly very clean , which is reassuring since I'm a bit over worry wart. all in all Stephen who did mine was a fantastic artist alone and a tattoo artist for the gods! (fantastic)
I will definitely be back
My best friend just moved to Chicago from LA and I decided that one of the best ways to spend one of my last few days with her would be to get my memorial tattoo for my grandmother. I called the shop and spoke with Josh who said that he had time to see me today. I've had the idea for my tattoo in mind for awhile but had nothing drawn or sketched out on paper. Josh was very patient and extremely easy to work with. He was very helpful in putting my dream image down on paper and listened to all my and concerns in regards to the piece. I chose to put it on my ribs, which can be pretty painful...it definitely hurt, but Josh's skill was apparent...the pain was definitely at a minimum for this sensitive spot and he worked so efficiently that it was done within an hour at no expense to the aesthetics of my piece. I LOVE my new tattoo... It is absolutely even greater than the image I had in my head and I'm thrilled bc this memorial piece was so important to me and so close to my heart. I absolutely recommend this shop, and especially Josh, if you're looking for someone to bring a beautiful idea to life.
Review Source:I had been thinking of getting my 20 year old tattoo touched up. Â I had put this off forever. Â Finally, because I am going through a mini mid life crisis I decided to suck it up and go for it . I was referred to Jeremy at Infamous Ink. Â He told me he had a gentle touch and indeed he did. Â He was laid back, funny, professional and a genuinely nice guy. Â I ended up walking out with two tattoos. The touch up looks like new and the new one is super cool and just what I wanted. Â He stands by his work. Â I would recommend him to a newbie or someone who has tats from head to toe. Â If I were ever to get another, I would go back to Jeremy.
Review Source:You know that scene in a Christmas Story where the teacher enthusiastically scribes "A++++++" across the chalk board? That is what I feel like doing for Infamous Ink, but instead I will just write this Yelp review.
I wanted to get a pretty simple tattoo on my foot.
One day I went to another tattoo shop in the area. I'd rather be nice and not refer to it by name, but for the sake of this review let's just call it Tatu Tattoo. Anyway, so I initially went there to get my tattoo done. They only did half of it, it was extremely painful, and I left there feeling unimpressed with no need to return.
To complete my design I turned to the folks of Yelp, as I should have done in the first place. I saw that Infamous Ink got high marks and I decided to stop in and see if they could fit me in.
At no point was there the BS "You're not one of us" attitude. I hate yet have come to expect that treatment at most places of this nature, however I was pleasantly surprised by feeling completely welcome from the beginning. I explained to them my situation and what I wanted and Steve was very accommodating and fit me in the same night.
I was so amazed at how much better the tattooing experience was. It was significantly less painful and took almost no time at all. I didn't really know what a true professional tattoo artist was like until I went to Steve. My tattoos are still very fresh and not healed yet, but I can already see the difference in quality in each portion of the design. Now my expectations have been raised and I realize that I was dealing with amateurs prior to this experience.
I will definitely be returning and referring all of my friends (perhaps even strangers, who knows) to Infamous Ink. If you're looking for a clean, professional and friendly place to get quality work done without the BS then come here. If not, then go ahead and try your luck down the street.
A friend recommended I see Steve Winters at Infamous Ink for a tattoo idea I'd been working on. Â I reached out and was able to schedule with him immediately. Â I brought in my ideas (a complicated dragonfly/peacock hybrid color tattoo) and he was able to sketch something beautiful in 20 minutes. Â We sat down to ink that night and 3.5 hours later it was even more beautiful than I ever could have imagined! Â
I've been to a lot of tattoo studios and the staff is generally a little strange and tattoo pretentious at best and rude or unprofessional at worst. Â The guys at Infamous Ink were great. Â The shop was clean and welcoming. Â They were watching a funny TV show when I walked in (a welcomed change from the blaring death metal of my last show) and they worked to make me feel comfortable. Â
Steve was the highlight of my experience. Â He was thoughtful, encouraging, and generally just great to be around. Â He made sure I was comfortable each moment while we were working. Â
A couple came in while I was there to get there first tattoo and the guys were great. Â I've seen so many tattoo artists turn their nose up at simple pieces or show no patience with a first time customer. Â These guys were great. Â They made the couple feel comfortable enough to get their first pieces done that night and everyone walked away happy. Â
I told Steve I was "cheating" on my other tattoo guy with him for this piece and by the end of our appointment I pronounced that I had a new guy! Â
I give my highest recommendation to the guys at Infamous Ink - especially Steve (whose work you can check out on his site http://www.allamericangy…)
I had never heard of this place before. Â I actually came on here (Yelp) to find a place to get a tattoo on my back covered up. Read the good reviews on here and that's what made me come in. Â I dropped by and spoke with Steve. Â He couldn't take me the first night but made an appointment for the next night. Â I came in the next night and Steve started on time. Â I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he had great ideas for what I should add to it and what colors to put in the tattoo. Â He was very quick and professional. Â You can't see the tattoo I had before at all. Â So, I would say he did a great job covering up my old tattoo. Â The new one is perfect. I have gotten a lot of compliments on the job so far. Â The shop is easy to find, very clean and not crowded at all.
Review Source:I came in here after purchasing a deal on http://Tippr.com. A lot of people told me to be wary because most tattoo places that sell coupons on Groupon or other websites like that are just looking for more business and aren't looking to do quality work.
They were wrong about this place.
My girlfriend got a piece done a couple months ago and because of the work that Jeremy did, I decided I had to come back and have him do my next tattoo. He was awesome. He answered all my questions beforehand, and he let me talk to him about my concerns about the tattoo. He was really patient throughout the process and it's obvious that he takes his craft very seriously.
The tattoo itself turned out so much better than I expected and I've been getting a lot of compliments on it.
The studio is clean, sterile and welcoming. The other artists are great as well and willing to help out and answer any questions you might have.
Even if you're not sure what you want to get, take your idea/s to Infamous Ink and talk to one of the guys there. They do great work.
After visiting several tattoo shops, in an attempt to get a cover-up for a terrible tattoo I got when I was 16, I decided to go to Infamous Ink to see what designs they had, what quote they would give me, and to determine if they could bring my concept of a simple but unique design, into existence. Â I spoke with Josh for a few minutes and explained what occurred during my recent visit to Tatu Tattoo. Â I told him how much they wanted to charge for a design that to me, seemed miniscule for a cover-up. Â Not only did the other parlor want to charge me for the design; But, they also wanted a deposit to sketch my tattoo. Â All in all, I was quoted the price of $250 by Tatu Tattoo. Â Fuck No! Â Josh simply smiled with astonishing disbelief, and then he drew precisely what my mouth could not express or describe. Â It was exactly what I wanted and at a fraction of the cost of the other tattoo studio. Â What a creative genius! Â He was quick and his work, remarkable. Â The guys at Infamous Ink were down to earth, yet still, very professional. Â I plan to return for more body art, in the very near future! Â I HIGHLY recommend this place! It's clean, fun, reasonably priced and Josh is truly the Man. Â Five Stars All The Way For These Guys!
Syreeta (Rita)
So I went to a few tattoo shops and spat out my ideas...nobody could put together what I wanted..UNTIL...I walked into Infamous Ink. I was immediately greeted by Josh and then Jeremy. I showed Josh my style and the idea I had in mind. He sketched it up while we walked over to the neighboring bar. 30 minutes later Josh showed me the sketch. It was EXACTLY what I was looking for...I was surprised how well he read my mind. After years of undecided ideas, it only took 30 minutes with Josh to get it right. Big props to Infamous Ink!
Review Source:This place is dope-Jeremy did my back piece I came in with an awful drawing and a million ideas he told me to come back in 20 minutes so I went to the bar next door, came back and he drew up a sick design-exceeded my expectation didn't want to change it one bit..2 hours later it was finished and it's incredible. The guy is very cool I usually feel intimidated but he made me feel right at a home. A few guys stopped in and complimented my tat, nice clean place, will be going back for plenty more in the future..check this place out they do good work for a good price!
Review Source:Love this place!!! Very clean and not the norm for tattoo places, you know the too cool for school what do ya want attitude. Very reasonable as well. I came in with a not so easy cover-up that nobody really wanted to work on, or told me it couldn't be done the way I wanted, or,,,they quoted me extremely high prices. I saw Jeremy and he listened, drew up a sketch, and started the work. I couldn't be happier with it!! It completely exceeded my expectations and I will recommend him to anyone with confidence that they will get exactly what they want and more, and will not be disappointed. Â I can't wait to show this piece off come summer!
Review Source:I had a similar experience to Shash. Josh touched up my 15-year old blurry chinese character and I couldn't be happier with the results. I think it actually looks better than when I first got it. He used white ink to clear up some of the areas and it looks amazing. Now I'm wondering if I should go for tattoo #2 15 years later...
Review Source:This is my first Yelp review and I just thought it appropriate to review what my great experience at Infamous Ink. I had been planning for a tattoo for months and had the general idea of what I wanted and where. Of course I still needed to do my due diligence and began looking online for reviews of my top choices. After much reading I visited 3 of the highest ranked ones.At the first one the customer service sucked. Never made it past the "receptionist", the 2nd one was better but though they say no appts. needed, they do take appts and were booked for the day. I have to say that the guy I spoke with was very nice and I'd planned to come back to him. On my way to the third shop I ran into Infamous Ink and my "good vibe" radar went off. I walked in the door and was immediately welcomed by Josh. My experience from there only got better. Not only did he work with my sister and I on our tattoo choices, he was so patient and helpful. He quoted me a great price. Even when I changed my mind and decided to get a cover up for an old tattoo he didn't miss a beat. My end result is absolute joy. Not only did he do an AMAZING job on the cover up, he took it a step further and totatly made it me. He was very light handed and it didn't hurt much at all. Â I've been getting tons of compliments on the work even with it peeling and not looking its absolute best. To see the great work is a testament to the artist. Can't wait for my next one.
If you are looking for the following:
1. Clean and sterile environment
2. Great Customer Service
3. Great price
4. Amazing body art
you should stop in to Infamous Ink and speak with Josh. You won't go wrong. I am definitely going back.
At first I thought this place was alright, the first guy spent a long time on a tattoo in which I was iffy but still got. In the end it turned out alright but the ink didn't really stick. At that point I decided I would never go back. Well, I lied to myself and did end up going back, but only because the other places in that area sucked even more. I got a second tattoo, in which the guy free handed some of it and it turned out horrible. It is uneven/sloppy and the ink he used was crap. When I went back to get it fixed the guy blew me off two times and on the third time he was 30 min late. He complained about having to fix it for free and how needles don't come cheap (that's a lie). After he was done the ink still wouldn't stick long and the tattoo wasn't fixed at all. I refuse to go back and have them mess it up even more. DON'T GO HERE, there are plenty of other shops that use good ink and charge the same price.
Review Source:Was looking for someone that did white ink tattoos...after a bunch of calls and responses of "sorry we don't do that kind of work"....or words of discouragement against that type of tattoo i stumbled upon Josh who had no objections and told me to stop by....my daughter (who wanted a sidepiece for her birthday) and I decided that was our place and headed on over.....man, did we luck out....i got an awesome white piece on my wrists (thanks again Josh) and my daughter got an absolutely beautiful sidepiece...Joy was amazingly patient with her....and did a fabulous job...if you want quality and are willing to pay for it..try this place out.....it's worth it, i promise......(see Jeremy, I told you I would yelp you.....)
Review Source:I went in about a month ago, got an idea... Talked to Jeremy. I liked the place. I was clean and I've read alot of good things about the place. Yesterday I went in and finally got it done! It looks awesome, and im very happy. It was pretty quiet in there and the boys were playing video games. I got my tattoo done by Jeremy all worked out well. I highly recommend this place.
Review Source:I got a long awaited tattoo yesterday from Joy. She is THE best tattoo artist in the city, her custom work is amazing. Â I got an orchid branch down my inner forearm, and it looks like someone took a classic black and gray photograph and put it on my arm. i have a few other tattoos, and I have never seen detail like this on skin before! Â She took her time with my piece, and before starting each section, she would stop and map it out in her head so that each blossom was totally unique. Â Before getting my tattoo, i looked through her book to see some other work, and she has alot of range. Â If you are a first timer, or someone who is looking for a new and better artist, Joy is definately your girl.
I also ran into jeremy there and saw some of his clients work. Â One guy was there who was having a sleeve done to correct lots of tattoos over his arm. Â No suprise that the tattoo looked beyond great. Â Every artist here has near 10 or more years experience, and the skill to prove it.
As for the shop itself, it is very clean and sterile. Â The atmosphere is friendly, and i especially enjoyed the flat screen cable TV to distract me during the especially painful places. Â Thanks Infamous Ink!!
Big Ups to Jeremy. I had a latin script tat done going vertically down my left side (not an easy place for a tat) and Jeremy did an amazing job on it (coloring, placement and requested details). I have no complaints and he was super friendly and made me feel extra comfortable during the entire process. Check him out.
Review Source:I had visited a place further west on North Avenue, and was told that there would be at least a two (more likely three) hour wait. Â So to pass the time I walked east to see if there was anything around to help me pass the next 2-3 hours. Â
I had happened upon this studio which I'd noticed a couple of weeks before. Â I had the designs I wanted with me, so I figured I may as well go check it out. Â A guy was on the phone in one of the chairs in the front. Â So I took a seat and waited. Â It soon became apparent that the guy worked there. Â I told him I was looking to get a couple of tattoos, and he helped me out with sizing and everything. Â
He then proceeded to sit me down immediately and hook me up with what I'd come for. Â Absolutely no wait at all. Â I don't know if this was an aberration or what, seeing as the other place a couple of blocks down was packed. Â But it was really convenient.
These were my first tattoos so I'm not entirely sure how pricing works, but it seemed a little expensive for the time that was put in. Â I'm wholly satisfied with the results, though, so I cannot complain much.
The place was very clean (being cleaned when I arrived, in fact), the process was, to my knowledge, quite sterile, the personnel were friendly and professional, and the work I had done continues to bring me great joy (granted I had two small, simple designs done).
If -- no, when I get more work done, I'll almost certainly come here first. Â Also, 'the guy on the phone' is named Jeremy Gibson. Â Ask for him if you can, but I'm sure most of the folks at Infamous Ink are quality people.
Walked in and Stitch Listened to what I wanted and within minutes got a visual and within 20 minutes had sketch and about 3 hours later got exactly the tattoo I wanted. This after visiting 3 shops that were too cool for school. If you want a person who cares and will work with you go see Stitch at Imfamous Ink.
Review Source:Nice set up. Easy parking. The tattoo artists are extremely nice and very professional and talented. The environment is bright and very sterile. Got a great tattoo that I absolutely love. They even stayed open a little later then usual just so I could get it. Great customer service!
